Listening
CONTEMPLATING
And being OBEDIENT to the WORD of God -that he puts on/and in your HEART
IT is a GREAT day to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day to HEAR

OBEDIENCE TO GOD
It is important
To hear the Word of God
It is important to listen
To the Word of God
But once we are sure
We know what God
Is asking/telling us to do
Are we obedient to it
Are we obedient
To God’s Word
If we are
True followers of God
God sometimes
Asks us to do very difficult---very difficult things
“But the one
Who hears my words
And does not put them into practice
Is like a man without a foundation
The moment the torrent
Struck that house
It collapsed
And its destruction was complete”
Luke 6:49
Love, forgiveness, kindness
Christ tells us that they are ROCK
Was he right
You know he was
Nothing was ever built on hatred
Being obedient to God
May be to just keep being kind
To that same difficult person
That turns their head
When we say hello
That treats us with contempt
And thinks we are beneath them
Being kind
To that same difficult human being
That takes us for granted over and over and over again
Christ taught us
About a different kind of love
It is called agape’
And means
Loving your enemies
“If your enemy is hungry
Give him to eat
If he is thirsty
Give him water to drink
In doing this
You will keep burning coals
On his head
And the Lord will reward you”
Proverbs 25:21 & 22
Being a Christian
Means not only listening, hearing,
And knowing the Word of God
But being obedient to God
When he asks you
To do something difficult and uncomfortable
Do you think
Christ wanted to be
Mocked, ridiculed, humiliated, and die a shameful death
Of course not---But he did it
Because that is what God---his Father
OUR FATHER---told him to do
“Those who obey his commands
Live in him
And he in them
And this is how we know
That he lives in us:
We know it by the SPIRIT he gave us”
1 John 3:24
So the next time
God asks you
To do that difficult task
To love that difficult person
Who treats us with contempt
Lord we pray that we say YES

JOURNAL/UNTIL MY LAST BREATH

TODAY is the FEAST DAY of Saint Peter and Paul-PETER-the ROCK-on who CHRIST BUILT his church-and Paul the GREAT APOSTLE to the GENTILES after previously being the great christian persecutor
JESUS gave every last ounce of himself for us-and Peter and Paul tried to do the SAME in the BUILDING UP of OUR LORD'S KINGDOM
it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE our Lord's LOVE for us and a great day for giving something of our love BACK to our Lord
UNTIL MY LAST BREATH
Jesus
Lived his life
For us
TEACHING US about God
Performing miracle after miracle
And being kind and compassionate
To everyone
And HOW
Was he rewarded
With death on the cross
In His last breath
Jesus cried out,
“My God my God
Why did you abandon me?”
But we know

JOURNAL/CARRYING ANOTHER'S BUDENS
"TAKE MY YOKE upon you and learn from me-for I am meek and humble of heart-and you will FIND REST for yourselves" Matthew 11:29
REST-it sounds good to me-THE TRUTH is Christ carried ALL our burdens 2000 ago and he can and still
IS carrying them today-ALL we have to do is LET HIM do the work
it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE if GOD and Christ's love for us and a GREAT DAY to find REST for ourselves
CARRYING ANOTHER’S BURDENS
Have you ever
Tried to help another human being
I mean really help someone
NOT just giving lip service
Whether it be family, friend
Or a virtual stranger
We ALL need help
At one time or another
It may be
Because of health difficulties
It may be
Because of financial problems or obligations
A lost job---mitigating circumstances
Broken relationships within a family
Or with a very close friend
In any case
We need help---we can’t do it alone
Because we are fighting heavy battles
And we are losing
It may surprise you to know
That OUR LORD knows this
It wasn’t any different 2000 years ago
Jesus saw this
And with a compassionate loving heart
He said,
“Come to me
All you who are weary and heavy burdened
And I will give you rest
Take my yoke upon you
And learn from me
For I am gentle and humble of heart
And you will find rest
For your souls
For my yoke is easy
And my burden is light” Matthew 11:28-30
A yoke is the instrument
That binds 2 animals together
Maybe you have
So many problems
That you feel
You have nothing left
To help someone else
Maybe you have
So many burdens
That you feel
Nothing and no one can help you
I have some news for you
Jesus can
He carried
The weight of the world
Some 2000 years ago
I thin he is quite capable
Of carrying yours and my burdens
We live
In a world
Full of selfishness
Becoming more and more so
Each day
“What the world needs now
Is love---sweet love
It is the only thing
That there is just too little of” from a song many years ago
Tiredness of body---come to me
Weakness of soul and spirit---come to me
Jesus says,
“Come to me
Let me help you
Carry your burdens”
He can carry burdens
And solve problems
That we never can
Maybe
Burdens and problems that we
Were never intended to carry
Moses believed in God’s promises
Abraham believed
The Blessed Mother---Mary---believed
“I am the Lord’s servant
may it be done to me
According to your Word” Luke 1:38
Do you believe
Do I believe
Your problems my be great
My problems may be great
They are NOT insurmountable
“And we know
That in all things
God works for the good
Of those who love him” Romans 8:28
Maybe we can’t
Carry another’s burdens
Maybe we can’t even
Carry our own
But God says---Christ says,
“I can”
He says,
“Tie your yoke to me”

FACE-TO-FACE WITH GOD
FACE-TO-FACE WITH GOD
Have you ever
Wanted to see God
FACE-TO-FACE
I thought
I wanted to
But I don't
I would feel ASHAMED
For some
Of the things
I have done in my life
And feel unworthy
INFERIOR
Too low
To see God
FACE-TO-FACE
Yet that
Is exactly
What God tells us
That if we are
UPRIGHT AND JUST
We will see God's face
“The Lord is RIGHTEOUS
He loves just deeds
The upright
Shall see his face” Psalm 11:7
Nevertheless
ASSUMING I am upright and just
I STILL
DON'T want to see his face
I would just feel
SO INFERIOR
I HOPE
I never see his face
UNTIL judgment time
At which time
I will hang my head low
AND NOT look up
Jacob saw his face
After wrestling with God
All night
“So Jacob
Called the place Peniel,”
Saying,
“It is because
I saw God face-to-face
And yet my life
Was spared” Genesis 32:30
Yet Jacob
NEVER Describes The Lord's FACE
The MOST that we know
Is that Moses' face became RADIANTLY ALIVE
“WHEN Moses
Came down from Mount Sinai
With the two tablets
In his hands
He was not aware
That his face was radiant
Because he had spoken
with the Lord” Exodus 34:29
So we KNOW
God's face
Must be radiant
Like the sun
“LET the light of your face

No-GOD'S FACE
Is too bright
For any of us
To actually visibly see
While in this world
I think the most
That we can hope for
IS to be in God's PRESENCE
SPIRITUALLY speaking
And that our friendship
Will GROW with God
HEART-to-HEART
And as God
DRAWS us closer and closer
To him
We can begin
To see
The face of God in us

"EVERYONE who listens to these words of mine and acts on them-will be like a WISE MAN-who BUILT his house on rock" Matthew 7:24
EVERYONE must build their life on something-WE can build it on fame and fortune-sexual identity-science-our weaknesses and addictions but ONLY by building our lives on GOD'S WORD will our lives TRULY stand the TEST OF TIME
GOD'S WORDS lead to life
GOD'S WORDS are truth
GOD'S WORDS and actions are FULL OF LOVE

“Rock or Sand”
All my life, I have prayed that I wouldn’t have run when the
other Apostles ran away
2000 years ago. And
would have went to my death with Jesus.
Perhaps that is why I survived all those years ago when I
was given zero % chance to live.
Perhaps that is why I am still alive some 30 years later.
Since I couldn’t die with Jesus, I have tried to live a life
based on Jesus’ teachings:
1. Love God with your whole heart, your whole
soul, your whole mind, and all your strength.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.
3. Forgive 70 X 7.
4. And live the Beatitudes.
I added to that 2 things that my Mother taught me:
1. Love draws a circle and pulls people in. Hate draws a circle and pushes people out.
2. And the truth is the truth and a 1000 bands
of angels can’t make a lie the truth.
So, have I built my life on rock or sand? I can’t answer that. That’s for God and others to decide.

WE live in a world FILLED with temptation-sexual temptation-the temptation to live a life based on material possession and materialistic value-and ALL kinds of addictions
LORD-we PRAY for the strength to turn away from these temptations and LIVE a life based on THE SPIRIT OF GOD-the way that leads us to LIFE
it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day to be touched by him-THE
TOUCH of a master-The Touch of a MASTER'S HAND
THE RUMMAGE SALE---THE TOUCH OF A MASTER’S HAND
Do you know
What a rummage sale is
It is
Something that they used to have
Maybe still do
After a person dies
You know the items:
perhaps a woman’s wedding or prom dress
or the tux or suit a man got married in
maybe a lamp or an old desk
or some personal items
like books or jewelry
some old furniture
and over there in the corner sits an old piano
with no one giving it much attention
People---men and women---are coming and going
Buying everything
While the piano continues to sit there unnoticed by everyone
Over there in the corner
A little while later
An elder gentleman comes in
Sits down at the piano
And begins to play
And beautiful music
Comes out of this old piano
People are clamoring about
And the bids keep getting higher---higher---yet higher
What changed its worth
Of course---it is
The touch of a master’s hand
We too
Are like the old piano
Trying to build a life
On all the wrong things: greed and materialism
sexual lust and perversions
our addictions---drugs-alcohol-and pornography
and whatever else in our life that we are putting above God
SO WHAT CHANGES US
Of course
It is the touch of God
THE TOUCH OF A MASTER’S HAND
The moment
We realize that we are a CHILD OF GOD
That God loves us
With an everlasting---never-ending
UNCHANGING kind of love
The moment we realize our worth
The ONLY worth that matters
Comes from God

Of greater worth than gold
Which perishes even though refined by fire---
May be proved genuine
And may result
In praise, glory, and honor
When Jesus Christ is revealed” 1 Peter1:7
“Instead---it should be that your inner self

One Mary---The Mother of Jesus

Zechariah thinking,
“Did I just see what I thought I saw?

The angel

Will not be able to speak

In the sixth month

And tells her she is with child

An angel of God

AN ANGEL is someone or something GOD SENDS to us to HELP US on our journey through life

To preaching the WORD OF GOD
The current King Herod
Is committed to wiping out this message
To exterminate the WORD OF GOD
He has killed one of your friends

Scared for your own life
Not knowing what is going to happen

Your friends and church
Are praying for you
The night before your trial
You are sleeping between 2 soldiers
Bound in chains
And guards sitting at the entrance
A light

“Quick get up”
The chains just fall magically off of your body
You open your eyes slowly
You see an angel in white
The angel says,
“Put on your clothes and sandals
Wrap your cloak around you
And follow me”
You follow the angel
At this point
Not really sure
If you are awake
Or if you are dreaming
You walk
Past the first and second guards
The iron gate magically opens
And you find yourself standing on the street
You knock
On your friend’s door

That an angel has saved your life
You go from door to door
Telling as many as will listen
About an angel saving your life
You don’t care
If they think you are crazy
You don’t care

You are out of your mind
So Peter is rescued by the angels
And continues to preach Christ’s Word
And the great King Herod has died

As we live out our lives

That though we may not see actual angels

That you send us people
People disguised as angels
People to help us on our way

ENDLESS LIFE
ENDLESS LIFE
Do you want to
Live forever
I'm NOT talking about
Endless physical eternal life
But living with God the Father
And Jesus his Son
Forever and ever
IT IS POSSIBLE
“For God
So loved the world
That he gave
HIS ONE and only son
That whoever believes in him
Shall not perish
But have eternal life” John 3:16
I BELIEVE
Jesus died
On the cross for me
I BELIEVE He conquered death
Once and for all
I BELIEVE
He resurrected
Walked this earth
For another 40 days
Then ascended
Into heaven
Then SENT his spirit
Down to live in us
And walk the earth
IN US
For those who believe
I BELIEVE
Do you believe
“IF you believe
You will receive
Whatever you ask for
IN PRAYER” Matthew 21:22
I want to LIVE forever
In God-with God
I want endless life
NOT for myself
NOT for any selfish reason
Just to TESTIFY to
THE POWER OF GOD

Jesus said,
“And just as Moses
Lifted up the serpent
In the desert

WHERE Moses
Holds up a bronze serpent
On a poll
And anyone who looks
At the serpent is cured and lives
And if we
Look at Jesus
IF we entrust ourselves
Completely to Jesus
We can FIND “eternal” life
In the Lord Jesus
And God Our Father
But it is
A different kind
Of endless life

THE SPIRITUAL ESSENCE

WE ARE ALL CONNECTED under ONE GOD
WITH so many Christian denominations and other faiths-I THINK we forget that we ALL belong to ONE GOD-the GOD OF LIFE-the GOD OF LOVE-and THE GOD OF TRUTH
THE BATTLE today isn't with the different religions and faiths-but with the secular world that tells us there is NO GOD-and I do NOT BELIEVE that for one second-I AM-WE ARE-LIVING PROOF that God is ALIVE in today's world-and
it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for ALL OF US
THE BREAD OF LIFE ( is Eternal Life )
“I am the Bread of Life
He who comes to me
Will never go hungry
And he who believes in me
Will never go thirsty” John 6:35
If you saw a fountain
And someone told you
That if you drank
From that fountain
You would have
The gift of eternal life
I wonder
How many of us
Would rush to that fountain to drink
I know that I would
Jesus tells us,
“For my Father’s will
Is that everyone
Who looks to the Son
And believes in him
Shall have eternal life
And I will raise him up
On the last day”
How many of us
Want ETERNAL life
I would dare say
Almost all of us
How many of us
Really believe that Jesus is THE CHRIST
The ONE AND ONLY SON OF GOD

For if we really and truly believed in him
A GOD OF LIFE,

Would we have a world
Filled with war, murder, rape, child-abuse,
And only the Lord knows what else
Eternal life is simply

It is the choice of God and love

Jesus took the bread
Gave it to his disciples and said,
“This is my body”
He then took the cup

“This is my blood
The blood of the new and everlasting covenant
Which is poured out for many”
Eternal life means simply
A life everlasting with God
Take on
The Body of Christ
Take on
The Blood of Christ
Choose God and love
Over the sins of this world
What would we do
Where would we go
Without God and Jesus in our lives

WHAT kind of treasures are you storing up-MATERIAL possessions and fame and fortune ALL FADE
BUT GOD AND FAMILY is WHERE true treasures lie
BUILD your life up on the FRUITS of the spirit: LOVE-joy-peace patience-kindness-goodness-faithfulness-gentleness-and self-control
THESE qualities is HOW to BUILD a life that will last
IT IS a great day to be ALIVE in GOD'S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE for us and a great day to CONNECT with GOD AND FAMILY

ARE YOU A FRIEND OF GOD
Are you a friend of God
Before you answer
Let me tell you what James, the Apostle,
And half-brother of Jesus once wrote,
“You adulterous people
Don’t you know that friendship
Towards the world
Is hatred towards God
Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world
Becomes an enemy of God” James 4:4
So
What does it mean to be a friend of the world
As opposed to God
I believe
It is simply
Putting the love of money and materialism
Over the love of God
And the love of your neighbor
Or putting our own selfish desires
Of the flesh
At the expense of God and family
Or calling ALL miracles----“medical” or scientific miracles
Or putting our own selfish addictions
Over the love of God and family
Let’s be clear
Being a friend to God
Isn’t the absence of money
The absence of our sexuality
Or the absence of medical miracles
In our lives
To be a friend to God
Just means to keep our priorities
In their proper place
ALWAYS keeping God and family
ABOVE everything else
Proverbs 17: 17 tells us,
“A friend loves at all times
And a brother is born in adversity”
So we know
That God LOVES US at all times
Even when we have turned our back on him
He is just waiting for you
Waiting for me
To ask for another chance
We KNOW
That we will get another chance
If we just SINCERELY ask
Matthew 7:7-8 says,
“Ask
And it will be given to you
Seek and you will find
Knock and the door will be opened to you
For everyone who asks---receives
He who seeks---finds
And to him who knocks
The door will be opened”
And when we get our second chance
We are to follow the commandments
And LIVE by God’s own spirit
“The fruit of the spirit is love,
Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gentleness, and self-control
Against such things---there is no law” Galatians 5:22-23
My friends
God is our BEST FRIEND
We just have to:

FELLOWSHIP
FELLOWSHIP
ONE of the things
That God wants us to do
Is to have fellowship
With him
And with each other
FELLOWSHIP is defined
As a FRIENDLY relationship; companionship
Community of interest; friendliness, etc.,
And one of the reasons
WE WERE CREATED
Was for fellowship with God
And fellowship with one another
IN FACT one of the themes
Of the first book of the bible-Genesis
IS that God creates man
In his own image
For fellowship with him
“WE PROCLAIM to you
What we have seen and heard
So that you also may
Have fellowship with us
And our fellowship
Is with the FATHER
And with his son-Jesus Christ
We write this
To make our joy complete” 1 John 1:3
And we are
To have FRIENDLY relationships
With our brothers and sisters in Christ
“BUT if we
Walk in the light
And he is the light
We have FELLOWSHIP
With one another
And the blood of Jesus-his Son
PURIFIES us from all sin” 1 John 1:7
I moved to Miami
In 2002
And many of my LASTING friendships
Are with brothers and sisters
That I have met in church
Even SOME of/maybe MANY of
The friendships
That I have back home in Pittsburgh
GREW out of friendships
That began in the school/church
That I grew up in
Saint Francis Xavier Church
NOW RISEN LORD CHURCH
And the Holy Spirit
HELPS us to build
Our friendships
With our brothers and sisters
“MAY the GRACE
Of the Lord Jesus Christ
And the LOVE OF GOD
And the FELLOWSHIP
Of the Holy Spirit
Be with you ALL” 2 Corinthians 13:14
FELLOWSHIP is expressed
In sharing our lives-
Our triumphs and our setbacks
With one another
We see a COUPLE of examples
Of this
In the New Testament
“And they continued steadfastly
In the apostles doctrine
And FELLOWSHIP
And in breaking bread
And in prayers” Acts 2:42
“After they prayed
The place
WHERE they were meeting
Was shaken
And they were FILLED
With the Holy Spirit
And spoke the Word of God-BOLDLY” Acts 4:31
That pretty much
Sums up my life
ALMOST all of the fruit
In my life
Comes from God-and family-friends and neighbors
REVOLVING around my relationship
With God
I love you Lord
And I love you MY Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Thank you for making me/for making us
In your image and likeness
And thank you
For ALL the FELLOWSHIP
With my brothers and sisters in God
And brothers and sisters in Christ
And thank you Lord
For the GIFT of the SPIRIT
Whom without
My life and love
Would mean nothing

JOURNAL/THE WILL OF GOD
LOVE isn't always easy-IN FACT-it almost NEVER is
"Jesus said-'BUT I say to you-love our enemies and PRAY for those who persecute you.....'"
Matthew 5:44
FEW teaching of Jesus is as hard as this one-and yet we are called on to BE OBEDIENT to the WILL OF GOD in our lives
Dear Lord-we pray to HELP US love our enemies as you love them-I HAVE found that the ONLY WAY to do this is to SEPARATE the person from the action
CONDEMN the actions-but PRAY that God will HELP the person to change
It is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in God'S LOVE for us and to TRY and be obedient to THE WILL OF GOD IN AND FOR our lives

THE WILL OF GOD
How do you know
If you are doing
The will of God
Something is troubling you
And you are suffering
And you know
Not what to do
It may be health related
Praying for a miracle
It may be financial
Maybe you just lost your job
It may be
A broken relationship
That no matter how hard that you try
You just can’t seem to restore it
How do you know
If your suffering is God’s will
I don’t know
Can’t answer that
But I can tell you this
In 1 Peter 4, it says,
“If you suffer
It should not be
As a murderer or thief
Or any other kind of criminal
Or even as a meddler
However
If you suffer as a Christian
Do NOT be ashamed
But PRAISE GOD
That you bear his name” 1 Peter 4:15 & 16
You may NOT even see it
How it helps anyone
But it just may be
For the GREATER GOOD
The will of God---
How do we know
---If we are abiding in it
One thing I do know
Is that
If you are trying
To live by the standards of this world
Sexual lust---materialism---violence
That that Is NOT
THE WILL OF GOD
“Do not conform
Any longer to the pattern
Of this world
But be transformed
By the renewing of the mind
Then you will be able
To test and approve
What GOD’S WILL IS-------------
HIS GOOD, PERFECT AND PLEASING WILL” Romans 12:2
So HOW do we know
Really know
That we are really doing
The will of God
I do know this
If it is the right choice
If it is the right decision
It---your life---your decisions
Will stand the test of tine
“The world and its desires pass away

THIS is one I have a GREAT DIFFICULTY with-are you SERIOUS LORD-as one who ALWAYS wants to do GOOD and wants GOOD to win out-I just don't understand
BUT what I think the Lord is saying is that-you can't do it-ONLY HE CAN-TRUST HIS DIVINE WILL-and GOOD will STILL TRIUMPH over evil
IT is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S own love for us and a GREAT DAY to submit to GOD'S will and HIS DIVINE PLAN

BEYOND OUR REACH
BEYOND OUR REACH
TOO OFTEN
Those we love
Are BEYOND our reach
Family members
Friends-and significant others
Sometimes even our church
Does that mean
That we should quit trying to reach them
OF COURSE NOT
“Do not be afraid
Keep on speaking
And do not be silent
For I am with you” Acts 18:9-10
For sometimes
WHEN we are trying
To reach
A certain someone
Or a certain group
Those that are designated
May NOT hear the word
But someone else may
And that CAN MAKE
All the difference
In their lives
For
That is what happened
To Paul
When Paul
Speaks to the Jewish community
About Jesus
The fulfillment of the law
And the prophets
He is rejected
And even threatened
“For EVERYTHING
God created is good
And nothing is to be rejected
IF it is
Received with thanksgiving
Because it is consecrated
By the WORD of GOD
And prayer” 1 Timothy 4:4
But a funny thing happened
Paul's message
Becomes shared with the Gentile community
And Christ's words and teachings
SPREADS to the Gentile community
Like wild fire
And Christ Our Lord
Was rejected by the Jewish community
And today
He is known
As the ONE TRUE GOD
To between 2.2and 2.7 billion Christians
“The stone the builders rejected
Has BECOME the corner stone” 1 Peter 2:7
Old testament prophecies
FULFILLED in the person
Of Jesus Christ
And on a PERSONAL NOTE
ALL I ever really wanted
Was my own family
But I was rejected
As a young man
By a couple of women
I really cared about
But NOT to worry
TODAY-I have all these
BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIPS
With all these AMAZING women
I AM BLESSED
So some people
Some things
ARE:
BEYOND OUR REACH
And REMEMBER
When we feel
The pain of rejection
By those we love
WE can be LIKE JESUS
We can be
Like Paul
And be a witness
TO GOD AND TO LOVE
To all those
That are in our path

IN the SAME way-on this Father's DAY weekend-it is a REMINDER that GOD CALLS US ALL
in some way
SOME of us are called to be fathers and mothers-some of us are CALLED by the church-but we are CALLED to be sons and daughters of God-some of us to religious vocation-but we are ALL called to LOVE-to love GOD and to LOVE each other
IT is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in God's LOVE for us and a great day to be his son and daughter
and a BROTHER OR SISTER TO CHRIST

THE GOD OF LOVE

A spirit that makes you a slave again
To fear
But you received the Spirit of Son ship
And by him we cry “ABBA FATHER” Romans 8: 15 & 16
The spirit himself
Testifies with our spirit
That we are God’s Children
But what does it mean
To be a Child of God

That though we may disappoint God

ABRAHAM---THE FATHER OF US ALL
Did you know
That ALL three monotheistic religions
Can be traced back to one man---
ABRAHAM
Judaism by virtue
Of Abraham and Sarah’s son-Isaac
Islam by virtue
Of Abraham and Hagar’s son-Ishmael
And Christianity
By the blood of Christ
On Joseph’s side
Being traced back to David
To Ruth ( whose son Obed is the grandfather of David )
And ultimately to Abraham
Three religions—ONE MAN
THE FATHER OF US ALL
( in a manner of speaking )
And ultimately God’s representative
As the Father of many nations
Do you KNOW the story of Abraham
Abram married a woman
By the name of Sarai
The Lord said to Abraham
“Leave you country
Your people and your father’s house
And go to the land that I will show you
I will make you
Into a great nation
And I will bless you
I will make your name great
And you will be a blessing
I will bless those
Who bless you
And whoever curses you I will curse
And ALL people on earth

Don’t you think
We should focus
On what we have in common

The Lord tells Abraham
To KEEP the faith
That he will still have offspring
Keep in mind
That Abraham is 100 years old
And Sarai 90 years of age
Abram’s wife-Sarai-says to Abraham,
“The Lord has kept me
From having children
Go sleep with my maidservant
Perhaps I can build a family through her” Genesis 16:2
So Abraham sleeps with the maid
And has a son named Ishmael
God changes Abram’s name to Abraham
And Sarai’s name to Sarah
God says to Abraham
“As for me,
“This is my covenant with you
You will be the father of many nations
No longer will you be call Abram
You will be called Abraham
For I have made you
A father of many nations
I will make you very fruitful
I will make nations of you
And kings will come from you
I will establish my covenant
As an everlasting covenant

SAINT ANTHONY-LOST AND FOUND
LOST AND FOUND---The Story of Saint Anthony
“Whoever finds his life
Will lose it
And whoever loses his life
For my sake
Will find it” Matthew 10:39
Saint Anthony
Was a great great Saint
He lived in the early 1200’s
He should be
The Patron Saint
Of those losing their life for God
And finding oneself
He joined the Augustinian order
At about 15
The bodies of some Franciscan martyrs
Passed though the city
Where he was stationed
He decided
He wanted to die for Christ too
And switched to the Franciscan order
But an illness
Prevented him from reaching his goal
So he spent his time
At a small hermitage
Praying, reading scriptures, and doing menial tasks
He was brilliant
Yet no one knew
One day when no one was prepared
To speak
Anthony stepped forward
His speech was so astounding
That he was promoted
To teach theology
To the other friars
Legend has it
That Jesus appeared to Anthony
As the baby Jesus
In the confines of his own room
Legend also has it
That one day
When Anthony could find no one
To preach to
He went down to the river
And the fish
All poked their head out of the water and listened
So remember
The next time that you are frustrated
In your life or on your job
And things aren’t happening fast enough for you

GOD'S RICH HARVEST
“Thus have you prepared the land.....and your paths overflow with a RICH HARVEST” Psalm 65 10, 12
HAVE you ever noticed nature? Have you ever noticed the beautiful garden? The beautiful f plants?
The dandelions? The beautiful growth of ALL living things in the SPRING/SUMMER?
I think by noticing other living things-that gives us AN ALL-ACCESS pass to GOD-who ALONE is the creator and SUSTAINER of ALL lining things.
IT is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S never ending/everlasting love for us
AN AUTUMN HARVEST
OTHER than the people
BOTH family and friends
There is not a lot
That I miss
About living up north
But on my current trip
I was REMINDED
Of just how much
I miss
THE BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN LEAVES
Or AUTUMN HARVEST
If you prefer
“Then he said to his disciples
'The HARVEST is plentiful
But the workers are few
ASK the Lord
Of the harvest-therefore-
To send out workers
Into his harvest field'” Matthew 9:37
On the drive
Down to Maryland from Pennsylvania
My sister, Mary, and I, saw a beautiful harvest of leaves
Red ones-green ones-gold ones-brown ones
-ALL quite a collection-
A beautiful picture
PAINTED BY GOD
Magnified by the crisp golden sun
And in life
The leaves need
To be gathered in
By the working men and women
Or they all pile up
In the cold cold days
Of winter
The people-like you and me
ALSO need to be gathered in
For God
WE NEED
To help God
with the people as they are ready
“Do you not say,
'Four more months
And then the harvest?
I tell you
OPEN your eyes
and look at the fields
They are
RIPE FOR HARVEST'” John 4:35
Autumn harvest
We are alive
RIPE for the picking
NOT DESTINED
To die
In the cold cold days
Of winter
“Let us not
Become weary
In doing good
For at the PROPER TIME
We will reap a harvest
If we do not give up” Galatians 6:9
And like
The different colored leaves
We-God's people-
Are no less different
NONE more important
Or less important
Than one another
“Therefore-as we have opportunity
Let us DO GOOD
To ALL people
Especially to those
Who belong
To the FAMILY OF BELIEVERS” Galatians 6:10
An autumn harvest
OF ALL OF GOD'S PEOPLE
And the harvest-there
WILL PRODUCE
Good leaves-GOOD PEOPLE
Of ALL different types
“No discipline
Seems pleasant at the time
But painful
Later on-however-
It produces a HARVEST
Of righteousness and peace
For those
Who have been trained for it” Hebrews 12:11

But the workers are few

Are you in
A state of grace
With God
You are
I am
WE ALL ARE
GRACE is defined
As the undeserved LOVE AND SALVATION
That GOD gives to us
God is reaching out
To us
To you and me
ALL we have to do
Is reach back
And the more we reach back
To God
THE GREATER the state of GRACE
We are living in
The key word here is UNDESERVED
There is nothing we can do
To earn God’s grace
All we have to do
IS ACCEPT IT
And live with the grace
God is
BESTOWING on you and me
In the XV chapter of Saint Luke-
Luke tells the parables
About the lengths
God will go
To bestow his GRACE on us
He tells the story
Of ONE lost sheep
“And when he finds it
He joyfully puts it on his shoulders
And goes home
Then he calls his friends and neighbors together
And says:
‘REJOICE with me
I have FOUND my lost sheep’” Luke 15:5 &6
ACCEPT GOD’S GRACE
He tells the story of ONE lost coin
“And when she finds it
She calls her friends and neighbors together and says:

ACCEPT God’s GRACE
You will need it
To survive in this world
AND IT IS FREE

Being REUNITED with his loving father

Salt and Light
Jesus told us

Of the earth

That was used to cook

There was no electricity
So light was a scarcity
And at a premium

As a smile
Or an encouraging word
To someone
Who is having a bad day

To have a listening ear
For someone
Who needs to be heard
It can be as simple
As sending someone
A birthday card or get well card
Or it could be
Visiting a sick neighbor
In the hospital

Change the whole world
As Jesus did

THE COLOR IS RED
THE COLOR IS RED
Do you have PASSION
NO I'm not talking
About that kind of passion
I am talking about
PASSION FOR GOD
And passion for others
Actually the love of God
And the love of others
What Jesus told us were
The TWO greatest commandments
And the color
IS RED
Because you have
CAUGHT the passion
For God and FOR OTHERS
“And they said to one another,
'Did not our heart burn within us
While he talked with us by the way
And while he opened to us
THE SCRIPTURES'” Luke 24:32
BURNING on fire
With LOVE for God and Christ
And burning on fire
In love
For want of the scriptures
My heart is on fire
In love
And the color is RED
“John answered
Saying unto them all
'I indeed
BAPTIZE you with water
But one mightier than I comes
The latchet of whose shoes
I am not worthy
To unloose
HE shall baptize you
With the HOLY GHOST
AND WITH FIRE”
CONSUMED by God
Consumed by love
Consumed by the spirit
And the COLOR IS RED
For I-THE SPIRIT
AM FIRE for the Lord
