We often DAYDREAM-about touching
The hem of Jesus' garment
And dream of FEELING THE HEALING
Through his garment


LIKE the woman with the hemorrhage


Jesus-he TOUCHES us-
He gives us HEALING


“Go in PEACE and be CURED of your affliction” Mark 5:34


Oh that TOUCH of Jesus
Oh how he can HEAL us
If we just have
HAVE a little bit of FAITH


One day=it=the HEALING
Will be ours=with
A little bit of faith


“A wicked messenger
Falls into trouble


But a TRUSTWORTHY envoy
BRINGS HEALING” Proverbs 13:17


“Then your light
Will BREAK forth
Like the dawn


And your HEALING
Will quickly appear
Then your righteousness


Will be before you
And the GLORY of the Lord
Will be your rear guard” Isaiah 58:8


One day-the healing-
WILL BE OURS
With a little patience
And a lot of FAITH


“So they set out
And WENT
From village to village


Proclaiming the good news
And HEALING people everywhere” Luke 9:6


Jesus touches us-and he
TOUCHES others


And they touch us and we
Touch the others
In this way


Healing is DONE
In God's words
And they ARE spread about


And the HEALING TOUCH of God
IS SPREAD to us
And touches us


TOUCH US God-heal us-put
The healing touch
In EVERY ONE of us


That healing touch of God


“She said to herself,
'IF I only touch his cloak
I will be HEALED'” Matthew 9:21


“Jesus turned and saw her,'
'Take heart daughter,' he said,
'Your FAITH has healed you,'
And the woman
Was HEALED at that moment” Matthew 9:22


Just the SAME WAY-one day-IT
The HEALING-
WILL BE OURS


We are to live CONFIDENTLY-
And in PEACE


Convinced-that one day-the HEALING
Will be truly ours too


Physical healing-spiritual healing-
Emotional healing-ALL types of healing
And whatever we need


TODAY-we affirm-whatever ailments
We have-will be healed-
Through the POWER and DIVINE LIFE
Of Christ


YES-one day-with CONTINUED FAITH-
THE HEALING WILL BE OURS

AN UNWANTED PART OF ME

AN UNWANTED PART OF ME

I USED to have this
ONE certain habit in me
That I couldn't stand
About myself


An uncertain evil so to speak


Do you HAVE any evil-
UNWANTED habits in you
That you just CAN'T SEEM
To get over


With GOD'S HELP and SUPPORT
I was ABLE to overcome it


How about you? Or are you
STILL fighting whatever-I wish you WELL
In your continued fight


“WHEN he got out of the boat-
At once-a man from the tombs-
Who had an UNCLEAN spirit
Met him


The man had been dwelling among the tombs-
And NO ONE could restrain him-
Any longer


Even with a chain” Mark 5:2-3


TODAY we read about a man
Possessed by many demons


It's easy to UNDERSTAND
WHY Jesus would want to free him


But why would he send him
Into a herd of pigs
And over a cliff


Jesus PRESERVED me from
MY unclean spirits and gave me
MORE LIFE


How about you?
Were you ABLE to conquer
Your bad habit?
Were you able to LAND
On your feet and have Jesus
PRESERVE your life?


An unwanted part of me
Was overcome-
THANKS to the Lord
How about you?


“My comfort
In my suffering is this:


YOUR PROMISE

You PRESERVED my life Lord
From an UNWANTED part of myself
And you did it-in order-
To GIVE me life


“WHOEVER keeps commandments
Keeps their life

Save us LORD-
Preserve us
DELIVER US=from our evil


Forgive us-deliver us-
And GIVE us life


“Whoever tries to KEEP their life

DELIVER us from evil Lord=deliver us
From this UNWANTED PART of ourselves


Dear LOVING Lord-
You KNOW our weaknesses
You know our frailties

FREE us from
ALL that binds us

But OUR God stands with you

WHO IS THIS MAN TO YOU?

WHO IS THIS MAN TO YOU?


WHO is Jesus to you?


HE is our Lord-he is
Our friend-he was FULL of power-
And PERFORMED miracle after miracle
He even conquered death


Yet he CAME as a poor man
To a NORMAL family of his time---
And he died a criminal's death
Hanging on a CROSS


Who is this MAN of power?
This man of might? This HUMBLE-
Kind-loving man?


This man of mystery


“They were FILLED
With great awe-
And said to one another


'Who then is this-
Whom even wind and sea obey?'” Mark 4:41


He is no man-he is EVERY man-
He is a God-and a man of mystery
Who not even the smartest-
Of ALL of us-can understand


“No-we DECLARE God's wisdom
A MYSTERY-that has been hidden


And that God DESTINED
For our glory
Before time began


NONE of the rulers of the age
Understood it
For IF they had


They would NOT have crucified
The Lord of glory” 1 Corinthians 2:7-8


I think this is an
Individual question
I think it is SOMETHING
We have to ANSWER
For ourselves


For me-he is NOT
Just a man-he is a GOD
He is the SON OF GOD


He has ALL POWER and does CONTROL
The winds and the seas


But he is a man too
He UNDERSTANDS us all too well
He WALKED the walk
That we all walk


He is a human
And OUR FRIEND too


“I no longer
Call you servants


Because a servant
Does not know
His master's business


Instead-I have
Called you FRIENDS


For everything
That I have learned
From my Father

And this God of POWER
The MASTER of all

WHO is this friend-

For me-HE IS the alpha-the omega-
The BEGINNING and the end-
The man who HAS IT ALL

TELL ME A STORY


My dad WAS a great
Story teller
When I was a young boy
I USED to crawl up on his lap
And say-”tell me a story”


And of course-he would


We ALL know=Jesus' story=
IS the greatest story
EVER told


And beyond that=HE would tell
The greatest stories too


They were the greatest-
WISDOM-filled messages that
The world has ever known


And they were known as PARABLES


“With MANY such parables
He spoke the word to them


As they were able
To UNDERSTAND it” Mark 4:33


Jesus spoke of people-events-and
Things of the earth
To TEACH about divine truths


And everyone didn't grasp
The meanings of
These stories-these parables


ONLY his apostles-his disciples-
And the people of God-
EVEN TODAY


“I WILL open my mouth
With a parable


I will utter hidden truths
Things from of old--------” Psalm 78:2


“Jesus SPOKE
All these things
To the crowd
In parables


He did not say anything
To them
WITHOUT using a parable


So was FULFILLED
What was spoken
Through the prophet


'I will open my mouth
In parables


I will utter things hidden
SINCE the creation of the world'” Matthew 13:34-35


And Jesus TELLS US
The meaning of the WORD-parable
In Luke-chapter 8
In the parable of the SOWER

But the SEED of the good soil
Stands for those
With a noble and GOOD HEART


Who hear the word -
Retain it-
And by PERSEVERANCE
Produce a crop” Luke 18:15


I get it Lord
I get the WORD of God
And-I HOPE you all get it too


Tell us some stories Lord
TELL US some stories Jesus


And he did too
He told us-
The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30)
-A story of about 450 words
With the message=
USE IT OR LOSE IT=
Use it for the kingdom of God


We FIND so much wisdom
In these parables


WISDOM to apply to our
Daily LIVES


We LEARN about the good trees
And good fruits-and good people-
We learn about the GOOD SAMARITAN
And that anyone can do
The WILL OF GOD


And in Luke 15=we learn about
One lost coin-one lost sheep-and one lost
Son SEARCHING for his loving FATHER
Who is just WAITING FOR HIM
To come home


And we have the stories of the apostles=
The disciples=and the saints=
PLUS our own life stories


Dear Lord-thank you for the stories-
Thank you for your wisdom and parables


PLEASE give us some MORE STORIES-

ONE of the things
We are ALWAYS called upon
To do
Is to SHARE our FAITH


SHARE your faith
In love
Share your faith
In forgiveness

IN KINDNESS and mercy


“Therefore go
And MAKE disciples
Of all nations


BAPTIZE them in the
Name of the Father
And of the Son


And of the Holy Spirit


And TEACHING them
To obey everything
I have commanded you


And SURELY I am with you
ALWAYS-to the very end

And Jesus himself was baptized
By his cousin John


I too was BAPTIZED
As a baby-and
RECONFIRMED a number of different times
As an adult


And Jesus-himself-
GIVES us a tough passage
In the Gospel of Mark


“WHOEVER believes and is baptized
Will be saved


Whoever does not believe
Will be condemned” Mark 16:16


Jesus seems to be saying
“YOU are in-or
You are out”


We worship such a LOVING-
MERCIFUL God-but who knows-
Whether he meant it literally-
or not?


For what it is worth-I-
TOTALLY believe in him


FAITH is a difficult thing
But I have found it easier
To NAVIGATE life's challenges
In faith


When we balance our life
With faith in God and Jesus


Life is easier
WHEN we have FAITH
Than when our faith is
Weak or nonexistent


And we must SHARE-
Our faith in God and Jesus
With others


“IF you don not
Stand FIRM in your faith


You will NOT stand at all” Isaiah 7:9


“Jesus replied,
'If you have FAITH
And do not doubt


Not only can
You DO what was done
To the fig tree


But you can say
To this mountain,
'GO throw yourself
Into the sea'


And it will be done


If you BELIEVE
You will receive
Whatever you ask for
In PRAYER” Matthew 21:21-22


OUR LORD wants NONE
Of us-to be condemned


He CONVERTED Saul
Into Paul-
And he can convert anyone-
At any time


May you faith-BECOME-
As strong as Paul's


And may you always SHARE
Your FAITH WITH OTHERS


That way-we can ALL
Go to heaven

We all have SOUL MATES
In this life


I am talking about
The KIND of relationship
That is BASED
More on SPIRITUAL BONDS


Than on building
A flesh & blood relationship
ALTHOUGH it may include
These too


I have been BLESSED
In that I have had MANY
SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIPS-
Particularly since I started
To WRITE & SHARE my poetry


I even have ONE friendship
In which we CALL OURSELVES
BFF'S=and it GREW out of a=
SPIRITUAL relationship=and it STILL IS


But it has BLOSSOMED
Into a TRUE & CARING friendship
I would do anything
For that particular person


As I would do-for almost
ALL OF YOU


FINDING your soul mates
In this life


“For WHOEVER
Does the will of God
IS my brother-and sister-
And mother” Mark 3:35


My parents-and my sisters-
Aren't just my blood
Aren't just my family


WE always had and HAVE
The WORD of God
Between us and within us


The SAME is true of my cousins-
my aunts and uncles-and MANY
of my friends


We have the SHARED
Word of God between us


And we all KNOW
The Word of God
NEVER DIES


“He humbled you
Causing you to hunger
And then feeding you
With manna


Which neither you
Nor your ancestors had known
To TEACH YOU


That man
Does not live on bread alone
But on EVERY WORD


That comes
From the mouth of the Lord” Deuteronomy 8:3


“Heaven and earth
Will pass away


But my WORDS
Will NEVER pass away” Matthew 24:35


And NEITHER will our relationships
With our soul mates
They will STAND
The test of time
They are ETERNAL


MORE than a friend
A soul mate
Is someone
Who TOUCHES our soul


They know us and LOVE US
For who we are


I AM SO BLESSED


I have found soul mates
In my BFF-in my parents-in my sisters=
And in my cousins-and aunts &uncles
As well as in so MANY of my friends


That IS what sharing truth=
SHARING LOVE=and sharing the WORD
Of God
Will do for you/FOR US
In our relationships


“ALL the believers
Were in ONE heart and mind


NO one claimed
That any of their possessions
Was their own


But they shared everything
THEY HAD” Acts 4:32


I have FOUND MY SOUL MATES-
Indeed it IS ALL of you-

It's a great PLAN
Until I watch
The daily news


So much evil-so much killing
That IS when my plan
Starts to falter
To FALL APART


Reluctance sets in
I WAVER right in the middle
Of my joyful soul


But somehow we MUST
OVERCOME this
We must KEEP BELIEVING
The good news=the love-and
Joy and HOPE of Christ


And SPREAD the good news


WE must POUR our joy
And our love
Into a world that wants
To spread violence and hate


SPREAD the good news
Of the Lord
Spread the good news of LOVE
In this world


“So the WORD of God spread


The number of disciples-in-
Jerusalem spread rapidly


And a LARGER number
Of priests
Became OBEDIENT to the faith” Acts 6:7


YES!-that is what LOVE DOES
It spreads the word
In the midst of hatred
-And violence
Love OVERCOMES fear!


“But the word of God
CONTINUED to spread and flourish” Acts 12:24


“In this way
The WORD of the Lord
Spread WIDELY and grew in power” Acts 19:20


This world NEEDS to hear
Your JOY & HOPE


To spread our fear and anger
In a world
Already enslaved to it
Is NOT HELPFUL


Let's start today
Let us WATCH for the good news
Let us watch for the
GOOD news of this world


Let us watch
For the GOOD PEOPLE


There is good news
ALL around us
And good people


And WHEN we see it
Let us spread the joy
Let us SPREAD the HOPE

DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

DISCIPLES OF CHRIST




WHAT does it mean
To be a disciple
Of Jesus Christ


To be a disciple
Of someone
IS the act
Of following and learning
From a teacher
In our case
That teacher is Jesus


And what we are learn
IS LOVE-kindness-and forgiveness
And a SENSE of joy
All while
Carrying the crosses
Of our life


In Luke, Jesus says,


“IF anyone
Wishes to come after me
He must DENY himself
And take up his cross daily
And come follow me” Luke 9:23


And WHY should we do this
Isn't that a STEEP PRICE to pay
For following someone


YES in that sense
But no in the sense
That anything important in life
ALWAYS comes with a price


And NO in the sense
That we all have
To carry crosses anyway
UNLESS we are immoral or criminal people
And trying to DUMP our crosses
In or on someone else
WHENEVER we can


And by doing it-
CARRYING our cross
Jesus' way-with love-and kindness-
Forgiveness and joy
OUR crosses become so much LIGHTER


Because Jesus shows us the way
Jesus shows us
HOW it is done


We just have to LOOK to him


“COME TO ME
ALL you who are weary
And burdened
And I will give your rest


TAKE my yoke
Upon you
And LEARN from me


For I am gentle
And HUMBLE in heart
And you will find rest
For your souls


For my yoke is easy
And my burden light” Matthew 11:28-30


And ALL the while
We are carrying our crosses
LOVE makes our crosses lighter
And joy and kindness
Makes our crosses lighter


And JESUS took up HIS cross for us
Out of love
And because we love him
We take up our crosses
And FOLLOW Jesus


WITHOUT love
We wouldn't be able
To let go of our selfishness
And follow him
We wouldn't be able
To deny ourselves


Dear Lord-we pray
That you FILL us
With the POWER
Of your loving presence
So that we may KNOW
THE JOY

God's WILL-of course-
But DISCERNING the will

We have to WAIT with courage
And with PATIENCE to hear
God's will-and sometimes-
It takes a LONG long time

It SEEMS like we are
ALWAYS waiting for something
In life


WHEN we are young
We want to be older-
We want to drive-

We want our own FAMILY

To get married-and

For retirement-to JOIN AARP
We PRAY to God
For certain things


And sometimes we just
have to WAIT
For GOD'S ANSWERS


“A person's wisdom
YIELDS patience


It is one's glory

“Therefore-
As GOD'S chosen people
Holy and dearly loved


CLOTHE yourself with compassion-

When we “WAIT”
For the Lord

We REMEMBER

Of God's PLANS
For our lives


WAITING on God's WILL

A SPECIFIC DIRECTION

The WORD OF GOD

It seems as though
It is very difficult


To live BOTH honestly-and
In gentleness in this world
Yet that IS what
Our God wants


That is what his
SON-Jesus-did


So the least we can do
Is IMITATE God-imitate Christ
And live IN HARMONY and peace
With God


And ATTEMPT to live
In harmony and peace
With ALL OTHERS


“It is he
Who will BUILD the temple
Of the Lord


And he will be clothed
With MAJESTY
And will sit and rule
On his throne


And there will be HARMONY
Between the two” Zechariah 6:13


LIVING IN HARMONY with God
In harmony among Catholics-
Among ALL Christian faiths
And the JEWISH FAITH


Living in harmony with all those
Who BELIEVE our God-
IS the God of LOVE
And the God of the LIVING

But be WILLING to associate

People today speak
ABOUT “hard truths”
And “tough love”


MAYBE there is a place
For that-
I don't know


But I do KNOW
Our God LOVES US ALL-
He wants us to get the point
Of TREATING OTHERS with
Love-forgiveness-and MERCY


The WAY our God-treats us
Our God wants us to LIVE IN HARMONY
With one another


To FLOURISH together in peace


Our God-Our Jesus-PAID for our sins
On the cross
In MERCY for us


I BELIEVE-he wants us
To EXTEND peace and mercy
To ONE ANOTHER


“Have mercy on me-my God-

For in you
I take refuge

This is WHY there is
Such LOVE between us


This is why

ARE Christ's living-breathing apostles

The problem that exists

We WORSHIP a loving God
A God that LOVES US
With everything he has


The least we can do
Is OPEN our hearts
To him and RECIEVE his love

I wonder HOW this man-felt-
To be SINGLED OUT by Jesus


I wonder if he was confused
Or disturbed or was he so-
PROUD-to be singled out by Jesus-
That he wanted to GIVE TESTIMONY


That IS how I feel-even today-
So PROUD to be singled out-
By Jesus-SO PROUD


“And this GOSPEL of the kingdom

As a TESTIMONY

HEARING THE CRY OF THE POOR


Our God-our Lord-has a
Long-standing LOVE AFFAIR
With the POOR of this world


So much so
That WHEN he sent his Son
To this world


He sent him as a poor son
In a poor family
To LIVE HIS PASSION


“SON though he was
He learned OBEDIENCE
From what he suffered” Hebrews 5:8


This world has
LONG exploited the poor


Yet our God
HEARS the CRY of the POOR


The question becomes
Not only do we/or can we
HEAR the cry of the poor


But CAN we learn
OBEDIENCE like Jesus
From our own suffering
In this world?


And really and truly
TURN to humble service
Of the poor?


“This poor man called
And the Lord
HEARD him


He saved him
OUT of all of his troubles” Psalm 34:6


“WHOEVER
Is KIND to the poor
Lends to the Lord


And he will reward them
For what they have done” Proverbs 19:17


“The Spirit of the Lord
Is on me
Because he-has anointed me


To PROCLAIM good news
To the poor
….....” Luke 4:18


Today-Mark speaks-of Jesus
BEING the bridegroom


And in Luke Jesus says,
“But when you give a banquet
INVITE the POOR-the crippled-
the lame-the blind-


And you will be BLESSED


Although they cannot repay you
You be repaid
At the resurrection
Of the righteous” Luke 14:13


I HOPE to be
At the banquet of our Lord
How about you?


WHAT YOU DO for

HEARING the cry of the poor


TURNING in humble service
To the poor-
Just like God and Jesus


BE LIKE the poor widow
Give something=of how much
You have-EVEN if it is
Just a little

On HOW every life
Is PRECIOUS-and how EVERY LIFE
In this world
Effects every other one


You see
I have had to FIGHT
Through many life and death situations
And through day after day
Of SEVERE chronic pain


And it is ALL worth it
To spend MY LIFE with you


To spend our lives together
LOVING GOD


And spend our lives together
LOVING EACH OTHER


Life is indeed PRECIOUS
And life is indeed A GIFT


It is NOT
To be taken for granted


“PRECIOUS in the sight
Of the Lord


Is the death

And their LIVES too

About you
But I FEEL a DEEP connection
To God


Like Jesus is ALIVE
And right in the ROOM with me
Besides that-I know-
He is alive in each
And EVERY ONE of our hearts


“I saw the SPIRIT come down
Like a dove form heaven
And REMAIN upon him” John 1 :32


CAN you IMAGINE
If you were alive
At this particular time
In history?


SEEING the actual dove
Come down on Jesus


Or John or Jesus-himself-
BAPTIZING you/me
In the Atlantic ocean


Sometimes I can see it
So vividly
I actually BELIEVE
It happened


That IS the way it is
WHEN you have a deep CONNECTION
To God


NOTHING can separate you
From God or Jesus Christ


“For I am CONVINCED
That NEITHER death nor life
Neither angels nor demons


Neither the present
Nor the future
Nor any powers


Neither height nor depth
Nor anything else
In all creation


Will be able to separate us
FROM THE LOVE of God
That is in-Christ Jesus
OUR LORD” Romans 8:38-39


Just imagine YOURSELF
WALKING through the hills-
The mountain sides-and the dusty
Trails and roads with Jesus


WATCHING HIM heal the sick
Heal the blind and the deaf
And even RAISE Lazarus
From the dead


It is NOT that hard to imagine
RIGHT THERE-being ONE of his disciples
When you have
That DEEP connection to God
And Jesus


WE are PART of him
We BELONG to him
He belongs IN US-
LIVING in our hearts
As we WALK-talk-and LIVE
This JOURNEY called life


“For DOMINION
Belongs to the Lord

“Whoever BELONGS to God
HEARS what God says


The reason you do not hear

I WALKED the trails

HE KNOWS WHAT IT IS TO BE HUMAN

HE KNOWS WHAT IT IS TO BE HUMAN OUR God is a God Who FULLY knows What it means to be HUMAN He came to earth In the form of A human being And EXPERIENCED every human emotion That we do-including- Pain and suffering He even had a mother-a Step-father-and brothers and sisters He was part of a HUMAN FAMILY A family that KNEW What it means to EXPERIENCE LOVE “For we do NOT Have a high priest Who is unable To sympathize with Our weaknesses........” Hebrews 4:15 YES-weaknesses-we have Plenty of those-at least- I do And Jesus did too He was FULLY HUMAN He lived-died-and RESURRECTED Because he was PERFECT In love-HIS LOVE Knew no limits So he knows What it means to be weak To be PUSHED To the limits of a being human “What is mankind That you are mindful Of them? Human beings That you CARE for them?” Psalm 8:4 Of course- What higher HONOR Could we have than You ( Jesus)-being ONE of us You UNDERSTAND us Oh so well-yet you- LOVE US oh so much “For the foolishness of God Is wiser than human wisdom And the weakness of God Is STRONGER Than human strength” 1 Corinthians 1:25 Our God-our Jesus-not contained Even by death LOVE IS STRONGER!-than human weaknesses Yet he KNOWS-what it is To have a human body Have limitations-even though- He could PERFORM miracles- And overcome all Our Lord God-Our LORD Jesus Understands-UNDERSTANDS our hurt- Our doubts- Our fear of failing He understands us too-he does NOT Condemn us “........For the Lord SEARCHES every heart And understands every desire And every thought” 1 Chronicles 28:9 “But the seed falling On good soil REFERS to someone Who hears the word And UNDERSTANDS it This is the ONE Who produces a crop Yielding a hundred-sixty- Or 30 times what was sown” Matthew 13:23 That IS the GOOD NEWS- We have a GOD who UNDERSTANDS What it is to be fully HUMAN Just IMAGINE how proud he is of us IF we understand him-just A little-and we BECOME A little bit MORE like him Yet he FORGIVES our flaws And imperfections-for HE KNOWS WHAT it is to BE HUMAN HE KNOWS-ALL TOO WELL In Jesus' name, Robert P. PRAYING THROUGH THE DISTRACTIONS OF LIFE My intentions Are always GOOD They are ALWAYS to Spend time alone with God-and- PRAY!-Pray!-pray! But I have to tell you Despite my intentions-it does NOT always happen that way THINGS happen-distractions set in This happens-that happens- Other things grab my attention And BEFORE I know it Before I am in the proper frame Of mind I am on to other things “Do NOT FORGET The works of the Lord” Psalm 78:7 We must REMEMBER The works of the Lord We MUST get ourselves To that PROPER frame of mind And PRAISE him at all times ONE thing that I have come To do IS to think of my whole life As one big prayer That way-whatever I am doing I am conscious That the Lord is with me EVEN working for my good In that situation “But Martha was distracted By ALL the preparations That had to me made She came to him and asked, 'Lord-don't you CARE That my sister has left me To do the work by myself? TELL HER to help me!' “'Martha-Martha,'-the Lord answered- 'You are worried and upset About MANY things But FEW things are needed- Or indeed ONLY ONE Mary has CHOSEN What is better And it will not be Taken away from her'” Luke 10:40:42 MAYBE that is-in TODAY'S world too Maybe we need to be A little MORE Mary-and-a LOT LESS Martha in our lives CHOOSING to PRAY Through the distractions of life Nine hundred years ago Saint Bernard of Clairvaux advised The POPE how to KEEP Spiritual focus in office “I DESIRE indeed That you should have peace From distractions But I don NOT want you To make peace with them........” I think sometimes OUR distractions Are there for a REASON Areas of our lives That need attention That NEED brought to God “Listen-my sons- To a father's instruction Pay attention and gain understanding” Proverbs 4:1 “WE must pay the Most CAREFUL attention Therefore-to what we have heard- So that we do NOT drift away” Hebrews 2:1 Dear Lord-we PRAY HELP US=at all times To pray through The DISTRACTIONS of life And put you number 1 In our life=RIGHT WHERE you ought to be That way-we will FIND The PEACE that we NEED In our lives Robert P. PREPARING FOR OUR LIFE'S WORK The LIFE of a pro football player Is very short Chuck Noll-the great PITTSBURGH Steeler coach Used to talk about his players And a bit facetiously say: “MAYBE it is time for them To get on With their life's work” In other words- Their minds wasn't on What they were doing And it was time for them to MOVE ON When we READ The biblical story of Jesus There is no mention of Jesus' life From the AGE of 12 Until the age of 30 What was Jesus doing? Perhaps=PREPARING=for his mission Of giving his life 100% To God “WHEN Jesus began his ministry He was about thirty Years of age” Luke 3:23 So what was Jesus doing Those 28 years Maybe WORKING as a carpenter With his father Or visiting family and friends ONE thing for SURE is That he was PREPARING For his life's work Through prayer and meditation He was PREPARING To preach the good news HEAL the sick And ESTABLISH his Church He had to prepare himself To GIVE his life 100%- To his Father- And to the people Of this world PREPARE for his life's mission PREPARING to give himself away FULL-TIME “Therefore This is what I will do to you-Israel And-because I will Do this to you- Israel- Prepare to MEET YOUR GOD” Amos 4:12 “However-as it is written 'What no eye has seen What no ear has heard And what no human mind Has conceived- The things God has PREPARED For those who love him ….....'” 1 Corinthians 2:9 SIMILARLY-as FOLLOWERS of Christ We- as Christians- MUST prepare for OUR LIFE'S WORK For loving God With our WHOLE mind-heart-and soul And loving others as ourselves That is our JOB as Christians To be at peace and UNIFIED with all OUR life's work To be in FELLOWSHIP with all “GOD is faithful Who has called you- Into fellowship With his Son Jesus Christ our Lord” 1 Corinthians 1:9 “MAY the grace Of the Lord Jesus Christ And the LOVE of God And the FELLOWSHIP Of the Holy SPIRIT BE with you ALL” 2 Corinthians 13:14 Because Christ PREPARED WELL He was PERFECT In his life's work MAY we ALL PREPARE For our life's work With the ZEAL of Jesus In Jesus name, Robert P. IN THE SMALL & IN THE ORDINARY MOMENTS TOO

IN THE SMALL AND IN THE ORDINARY MOMENTS TOO We have THANKSGIVING In the rear view mirror Christmas and New YEARS too While these are great holidays And MIRACULOUS religious holidays too We must REMEMBER That OUR GOD is in the routine The ORDINARY DAYS of our life And in The SMALL things too “WE receive from him Whatever we ask Because we keep his commandments And do whatever pleases him” 1 John 3:22 Are you ready To go back to school? To go back to work? Are you ready to get back To the routine and to the ordinary? It's easy to lose sight That that is really and truly WHERE GOD IS But we must REMEMBER THAT=if We remember anything at all After all-90-95% of us Are ORDINARY By the standards Of this world Yet we are ALL EXTRAORDINARY creatures In the eyes of God- To be valued and LOVED For who we truly are “WHEN they saw The COURAGE of Peter and John And realized That they were unschooled ORDINARY men They were astonished And they took note That these men Had been with Jesus” Acts 4:13 What made the apostles Extraordinary=SPECIAL Was their relationship with God Their relationship with Jesus We too Are ordinary men and women But what makes us SPECIAL- HIS BELIEVERS of today- Are our relationships With God and Jesus “God did EXTRAORDINARY miracles Through Paul........” Acts 19:11 Why Paul? Because he had great faith And God will use us To perform great miracles THROUGH our routine-ordinary lives Why-because we have GREAT FAITH too You can ONLY change The large picture in the world After day-by-day efforts Of trying and changing the SMALL picture GIVING OTHERS the courage And the faith That they can Make a difference In their own Small corner of the world You have to PROVE yourself To God In the small things BEFORE you will be Entrusted with the large “When he comes He will PROVE the world To be in the wrong About sin-and righteousness- And judgment........” John 16:8 “But wisdom Is proven RIGHT by her deeds” Matthew 19:11 And so As we go back To our routines-to the ordinary Let us grow CLOSER To God and Jesus In our own small corner Of the world And remember That change has no season- No calendar Let us all go gently Into reality in 2016 And CHANGE THE WORLD Through the ORDINARY- AND THE SMALL TOO Robert P. TEACHING THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD Our God-our Lord Jesus-is The MOST important entity And the MOST important God-man Whoever walked this earth It is up To EACH one of us To PATTERN our life After Jesus And LIVE as RIGHTEOUS A life as possible But NOT self-righteous By any reason-for- NONE of us are that good “CHILDREN-let no one Deceive you- The person who ACTS in righteousness is righteous Just-as he IS RIGHTEOUS” 1 John 3:7 Our God/our Jesus IS a righteous God He was ALWAYS looking For TEACHABLE MOMENTS BOTH in actions & words To PASS it on to his disciples And it is up to US-to LEARN From Jesus too-from both his actions And his words Jesus taught his disciples=and as His MODERN day disciples We are to learn his ways too And to PASS his ways on To others-by being LIVING EXAMPLES Of his righteousness Just the way-Jesus- Himself was Pass on & TEACH The righteousness of God The righteousness of Jesus “KEEP my commands And you will live Guard my teachings As the APPLE of my eye” Proverbs 7:2 “ANYONE Who chooses to do The WILL of God Will find out WHETHER my teaching Comes from God Or whether I speak On my own” John 7:17 Of course-Jesus teachings was NOT only Of his OWN free will But also WORDS of God-for- The Father was & IS Jesus' Father=for ALL of eternity AND ours Jesus was & is ( we learn by READING SCRIPTURE) The living WORD-the living& LOVING God The EXAMPLE of RIGHTEOUSNESS Forever more And it is UP to us To do our BEST-to demonstrate-as CHRISTIANS That righteousness-in words and deeds “He RULES the world in righteousness And judges the peoples In equity” Psalm 9:8 TEACHABLE moments Teaching the righteousness Of God and of Jesus TODAY-we also celebrate The feast of-Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton ( 1774-1821) She was a widow and the FOUNDER Of the Catholic school system In the U.S. And she taught people About our DIVINE teacher Our “RABBI”=as Jesus Is called in today's Gospel Just as John the Baptist- And Jesus apostles BROUGHT people to God It is UP TO US As his Christian followers To do the SAME USING teachable moments To BRING others to God and Jesus By pointing out HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS In BOTH word and deed In Jesus' name, Robert P. HE KNOWS THE LONGINGS OF OUR HEART

HE KNOWS THE LONGINGS OF OUR HEART God KNOWS the longings Of our heart He knows that our DEEPEST WANT Is to FIND HIM And spend eternity With him God-and his Son Jesus LIVING in our heart He KNOWS that we know We are NOW his children “Beloved-we are GOD'S CHILDREN now What we shall be Has not yet been REVEALED” 1 John 3:2 We live in a world of UNCERTAINTY Financial-social-physical- And even scientific The ONE thing that we can COUNT ON The one thing The ONE thing That we can be SURE of- IS OUR GOD We can count on him- FOR we are his children He LOVES US-like his very own LIKE CHILDREN of God “BLESSED are the peacemakers For they will be called CHILDREN of God” Matthew 5:9 “Yet to all-who did RECEIVE him To those who BELIEVED In his name He gave the right To become-CHILDREN of God -Children born Not of natural descent Nor of human decision Or a husband's will But BORN OF GOD” John 1:12-13 YES-our God KNOWS The LONGINGS of our heart He knows-we want To be his children He KNOWS we want him To LIVE in our heart Yes-our BELOVED-our loving God Knows the longings Of our hearts Scripture offers us MANY promises and intimations Of his CLOSENESS Yes God LIVES In our hearts- We LONG for him-for We ARE his children “The Lord is CLOSE To the brokenhearted And SAVES those Who are crushed in spirit” Psalm 34:18 “He tends his flock Like a shepherd He gathers the lambs In his arms And CARRIES them CLOSE to his heart He gently leads those That have young” Isaiah 40:11 MOST of us aren't aware Of how dearly=GOD LOVES US Of the close bond Between him and I We NEED constant reminders And assurances-of just how much God LOVES US Just like the people of John's time Who needed those SAME assurances And reminders GOD'S LOVE Has been, “BESTOWED ON US” 1 John 3:1 Let us NOT forget this And let us not forget-that- We are his CHILDREN And HE KNOWS THE LONGINGS OF OUR HEARTS Robert P. I AM GRATEFUL FOR GOD'S GREATEST GIFT

I AM GRATEFUL FOR GOD'S GREATEST GIFT I am GRATEFUL- For the greatest gift ever from God THE GIFT OF LIFE I think I ALWAYS was=I think I always KNEW That LIFE was a gift=and a BLESSING NEVER to be taken for granted But that idea was greatly REINFORCED- In 1977-WHEN-I received- The sacrament of the sick-because of Gangrene-peritonitis-a 108 degree temperature And a host of other things STRONG enough to end my life Oh LIFE-what a GIFT- What a BLESSING Despite this chronic illness-this Severe abdominal pain-I will never LOOK at life-any other way- BUT as a GIFT and a BLESSING “And this is a PROMISE He made to us: ETERNAL LIFE” 1 John 2:25 OH LIFE-what a GIFT-and What a BLESSING To SPEND with my family- My friends-and my churches And then to LIVE ETERNALLY- With God-with Christ HOW BLESSED am I How blessed are we “Your word-Lord-is ETERNAL It stands FIRM In the heavens” Psalm 119:89 “Then they will go away (THOSE who do NOT know God) To eternal punishment But the righteous- TO ETERNAL LIFE” Matthew 19:46 “To those- Who by PERSISTENCE In doing GOOD Seek glory-honor-and immortality He will GIVE-eternal life But for those Who are self-seeking And REJECT the truth And follow evil There WILL be wrath and anger” Romans 2:7-8 Life is indeed GOD'S GREATEST GIFT And is very fragile It CAN be over In a heartbeat As I have come SO CLOSE To finding out Life is a gift TREAT it like it is YOUR most important possession For indeed IT IS It is GOD'S GREATEST BLESSING To us=BE GRATEFUL “BLESSINGS crown the head Of the righteous But violence overwhelms The mouth of the wicked” Proverbs 10:6 This month=IT will be 40 years Since my MIRACLE In the COMING YEARS I HOPE to find out IF God's BLESSING of me Is really that STRONG Of course-I KNOW that it is But READ what PSALM 90 says: “OUR DAYS may come To 70 years Or eighty If our STRENGTH ENDURES ….....” Psalm 90:10 I am GRATEFUL TO GOD For GOD'S GREATEST GIFT-LIFE USE your years wisely=GIVING LOVE I would like to think That I have done that And I would like to think That I WILL continue to do so Thank you Lord For this MAGNIFICENT GIFT= It has been A GREAT RIDE Robert P. A TIME FOR REFLECTING/ NEW BEGINNINGS TODAY-we read about Mary-the MOTHER Of God-and some of the things she had heard About her baby SON=Jesus “Mary KEPT ALL these things REFLECTING on them-in her HEART” Luke 2:19 Today=for us=it IS the first day Of the new year It is a GOOD time For REFLECTING on the mysteries of God And the BIRTH of Christ And what it means to us- Specifically-in our life It is a TIME for reflecting For us A time for REFLECTING on our lives To PONDER our successes As well as our failures And how we have RESPONDED Let us take a LOOK BACK On the year That just ended What are you/I proud of? WHERE have we fallen short? WHAT can we do better in 2017? Did we LOVE GOD-love others- with ALL of our heart? How did the Lord FIT into our lives in 2016? Can we make MORE ROOM For the Lord? For others In our life in 2017? So like Mary-let us PONDER These things in our heart- Let us do a little REFLECTING “As water REFLECTS the face So one's life Reflects the heart” Proverbs 27:19 “ALL people will fear They will proclaim The works of God And PONDER What he has done” Psalm 64:9 64:9 “Let the one who is WISE Heed these things And PONDER the loving deeds Of the Lord” Psalm 107:43 It is A GOOD TIME FOR REFLECTING On where we made Our mistakes in 2016 A good time for reflecting On what we can DO BETTER In 2017 And ponder in our hearts As well as PRAYING to God To BLESS US with NEW BEGINNINGS This year-2017 PRIMARILY in our spiritual life But also in THIS world that we know- The world of mankind We NEED God to GUIDE US To new beginnings IMPROVED health=improved finances= And REWARDING-not broken relationships NEW BEGINNINGS “IN the BEGINNINGS You laid foundations Of the earth And the heavens ARE the work Of your hands” Psalm 102:25 “In the beginning Was the WORD And the Word was with God And the Word was God” John 1:1 So today=on this FIRST DAY Of the new year Let us=SEARCH our spirit Let us REFLECT on the things In our heart=just like Mary did And let us PRAY to the Lord To GUIDE us this new year To NEW BEGINNINGS= BEGINNINGS that will LAST Dear Lord=BRING US CLOSER to you This year In Jesus' name=LET IT BE!
