WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?

WHO IS JESUS TO ME?

 

For all CATHOLICS=for ALL CHRISTIANS=

There is a CENTRAL question

That RUNS through our HEARTS

 

And that is=WHO is Jesus

To me?  to you?  to us?

 

For me=he is MY EVERYTHING=he is

My LORD=my SAVIOR=he holds the

KEY to ALL the days of my life

 

He is my BEST FRIEND=and everything

I do and think is RUN BY HIM

 

“Herod said=’John I beheaded=who then

Is his about whom I hear

Such things?’

And he KEPT trying to see him”                                                                                    Luke 9:9

 

WHO is Jesus to me?

 

Herod DEMANDS to know

Who Jesus is-some new prophet-

Or a GHOST from the past

 

We too must CONTINUE

To SEEK & FIND Jesus

In our own lives

 

Until he REVEALS himself to us

LIVING in our hearts-in the

DEEP recesses of our souls

 

REVEALING himself to us

 

“The secret things

BELONG to the Lord our God

 

But the things REVEALED

Belong to us

And to our CHILDREN-FOREVER

 

That we may FOLLOW

ALL the words of the law”                                                                                            Deuteronomy 29:29

 

“And he GLORY of the Lord

Will be REVEALED

 

And all people

Will see it TOGETHER

For the mouth of the LORD

Has spoken”                                                                                                             Isaiah 40:5

 

“ALL things

Has been COMMITTED to me

By my Father

 

No one knows

The SON-except the Father

And no one KNOWS the Father

EXCEPT the Son

 

And those to whom

The Son CHOOSES to REVEAL him”                                                                           Matthew 11:27

 

WHO is Jesus to you?

WHAT has the FATHER & SON

REVEALED to you in the

RECESSES of your heart?

 

IS he your LORD & Savior?

Is he your BEST FRIEND?

 

Do you LOVE HIM?

Do you fear him?=or worse=

Like Herod=do you choose to IGNORE HIM?

 

KNOW God=know Jesus-=

KNOW the masters

Of the UNIVERSE

 

“Know that he Lord

Is GOD

 

It is he

Who MADE US

And we are his

 

We are HIS PEOPLE

The SHEEP of his pasture”                                                                                              Psalm 100:3

 

“I want to KNOW CHRIST--------

Yes to KNOW the power

Of his RESURRECTION

 

And PARTICIPATION in his sufferings

Becoming like him in his death

And so somehow  

 

Attaining to the RESURRECTION

From the dead”                                                                                                         Philippians 3:10-11

 

YES!=Jesus he is my Lord=my MASTER

WHO IS HE TO YOU?

Last week was a tough week for me/for many of us


So it got me to thinking
Does GOD have a sense of humor


The answer that I came up with is
He made ME ( us )=didn’t he




LOL=with grateful appreciation FOR YOU




Ecclesiastes 3 = A TIME FOR EVERYTHING




There is a time for everything
And a season for everything
Under Heaven:


A time to weep and a time to laugh






A friend of my Father’s
Used to tell him


“When they made you Bob
They broke the mold
And beat the hell
Out of the mold maker”




Always remember
You are a Child of God
Born with a purpose
Living for a purpose
And that you have a job in this world
That no one else in this world can do
Only you


And when GOD made you
He saved the mold for ALL of eternity


We are all on a journey
But don’t forget
To have fun---AND LAUGH ALONG THE WAY

KNOWING WHEN TO LET IT GO

KNOWING WHEN=TO LET IT GO


WE=all of us MODERN
Day disciples=of God and Jesus
Like to SHARE
The good news


HOWEVER-as sad as it is-
SOME people in this world
DON'T want to hear it


I don't run up against it
Too much-as I use the
Very soft sell of LOVE


Yet there are times WHEN
I KNOW people are just
PUSHING me away


You have to KNOW
WHEN TO LET IT GO


“As for those
Who do NOT welcome you


When you leave that town


SHAKE the dust
From your feet in testimony
Against them” Luke 9:5


Of course=as CHRISTIANS=
We NEVER wish anyone
Any ill will=we just
PRAY for them anyway


Jesus' message of ETERNAL LIFE
Is so attractive=but it is so
CHALLENGING to live
As HE did


TREATING every family member=
Every neighbor=every stranger and foe alike
WITH LOVE and RESPECT


It is HARD not to
Live a SELFISH life
In this material world
That we live in


But for me-it is EVEN HARDER
NOT to SHARE the GOOD NEWS-
Not to talk of God and of JESUS


“After John was
Put in prison


Jesus went into Galilee
PROCLAIMING the good news
Of God


'The TIME has come,'
He said
'The kingdom of God
Has come NEAR


Repent and BELIEVE the good news'” Mark 1:14-15


And as his DISCIPLES
It is OUR JOB
To share the GOOD NEWS


And share it
IN a hospitable way


KNOW WHEN
To let it GO


It is no SMALL wonder
There are those=who
DON'T want to hear the message


LIVING a self-centered
Life is much easier and CARRIES
More tangible benefits
Than picking up our CROSS DAILY


“THEN he called the crowd
To him=ALONG with his disciples=and said


'WHOEVER wants to be my disciple
Must DENY themselves
And take up their CROSS
And FOLLOW ME'” Mark 8:34


The WAY of the CROSS
Has been a JOYOUS OCCASION
For me=NO REGRETS


I have FOUND MYSELF in God
I have FOUND MYSELF in Jesus


“For whoever WANTS to
Save their life-
Will lose it


But whoever loses their life
For ME and MY GOSPEL
Will SAVE IT” Mark 8:35


SAD as it may be
CARRYING our cross DAILY-means-
KNOWING who-and what and WHEN
TO LET GO

TODAY we read about
The Israelites being THRILLED
About the completion
Of their NEW TEMPLE


It makes me think about
SOME of the amazing places=
Churches WHERE I have worshiped too


And some NOT so amazing=
My school gym=my church bowling alley=
A hospital room=and even in
MY own living room


It is NOT the place=IT IS THE PEOPLE
It's the LOVE=that makes the
SACRED RITE of PRAYER so important
It is the love
And the CONDITION of our hearts


“They finished the building
According to the command
Of the GOD of Israel


…......
And CELEBRATED the dedication
…........” Ezra 6:14, 17


PEOPLE celebrated TOGETHER the love of God=
The SACRED RITE of God


It doesn't matter whether
It is a few=
Or a million


It is the TOGETHERNESS of the people
It's our hearts
It's our love


It is=we are
THE PEOPLE OF GOD
Who make up the church
NOT the physical structure


“LOVE the Lord-
ALL his faithful people


The Lord preserves those
Who are TRUE to him


But the proud
He pays back in full” Psalm 31:23


“The PEOPLE
Walking in darkness
Have SEEN a great light


On those living
In the land of deep darkness


A LIGHT has dawned” Isaiah 9:2


“BUT the ANGEL
Said to them


'Do not be afraid
I will bring you GOOD NEWS
That will cause great JOY


For all the people


Today in the town of David
A SAVIOR has been BORN to you
He is the MESSIAH=the LORD!

It is the PEOPLE OF GOD
Who PROCLAIM God=who proclaim Jesus
It is=or at least should be
ONE PUBLIC VOICE for God and Jesus


Yes=church buildings are important
To PROVIDE a fitting environment
For our religious services


But is is God=it is Jesus
Who TRANSFORMS the site=who
Transforms the religious rites=and who
CHANGE US into people of love


For Jesus HIMSELF=told us
The KEY to where he is


“For where two or three
GATHER in my name


There I am=WITH THEM” Matthew 18:20


It is
THE PEOPLE OF GOD
Who are the church


It is in the LOVE
Of God and of Jesus
WE PROCLAIM
Who and what we are


In the NAMES of our LOVING LORD Jesus
And HIS MOST LOVING FATHER

TODAY we read about
The REFORMATION of the
Jewish community
RETURNING from exile


The HOUSE of God
Needs to be REBUILT
And the neighbors
JOIN in to HELP


“ALL their neighbors
Gave them HELP in every way.........” Ezra 1:6


I live in a RETIREMENT community
And for the most part
The NEIGHBORS HELP one another


I feel like the
HOUSE OF GOD in today's world
Needs to be REBUILT
I wish we could ALL
Work together
And get that DONE


I really wish that we
COULD all LIVE TOGETHER
Like it is CHRISTMAS every day
And find and LIVE
That FEELING of LOVE
For one another


We are all in “EXILE”
From one another
For ANY number of reasons


Illness-divorce-financial struggles
Or just being PRESSED DOWN
From the CHALLENGES
Of modern day life


Let us OVERCOME this HOUSE OF EXILE-
Both within ourselves-and
With one another


Let us REBUILD the HOUSE of God
In this world=let us all
DO IT TOGETHER


“Then Zerubbabel-
Son of Shealtiel and Joshua-
Son of Jozadak
Set to WORK


To REBUILD the HOUSE of God
In Jerusalem


And the PROPHHETS of God
Were with them
SUPPORTING them” Ezra 5:2


Let us ALL work TOGETHER
-Let us all SUPPORT one another
And REBUILD the house of GOD
In today's world


And let us be HOPEFUL
And work together with JOY


“For the Lord will
REBUILD Zion
And appear in his GLORY” Psalm 102:16


“After this I will RETURN
And rebuild David's fallen tent


Its ruins I will REBUILD

Let us REBUILD this world
And GIVE it back to God

With JOY-HOPE-and LOVE

In our lives=EVERY DAY


What a world this would be
With neighbor HELPING neighbor
Of all FAITHS
With JOY and with HOPE

Are radiant

Let us begin today
NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR


And by CHRISTMAS TIME=maybe

And that is TRUE with God

There are NO perfect people
In this world=ALL of the people

Every day is an OPPORTUNITY
For ANOTHER chance with God

The LORD our God

You can START OVER


TODAY is a new day

For another CHANCE


“I have SEEN something else

LIVING WITH PERSEVERANCE


Everyone has FAILED
Time and time again=BEFORE
Becoming SUCCESSFUL in life


Athletes=actors=PEOPLE of
EVERY WALK of life


What makes the DIFFERENCE is
They get BACK UP and
KEEP ON TRYING-
They DON'T QUIT


It is called PERSEVERANCE


“But as for the SEED
That fell on rich soil


They are the ONES who
WHEN they have HEARD the word
EMBRACE it


With a generous and GOOD HEART
And BEAR FRUIT through perseverance” Luke 8:15


MOST of you guys
That KNOW ME


Know I live with a
SEVERE chronic illness
An illness that has


SEVERELY threatened my life
On MORE than one occasion


But I SURVIVED a deathbed experience=
I PROMISED God on my deathbed=
“TO LIVE for my family-friends-
And ALL PEOPLE everywhere”


I will BE 63 next January=
LIVING WITH PERSEVERANCE


“NOT only so-but we also
GLORY in our sufferings


Because we KNOW
That suffering produces PERSEVERANCE” Romans 5:3


“We have CONFIDENCE in the Lord
That you are doing
And will CONTINUE to do
The things we command


May the LORD
Direct your HEARTS
Into GOD'S LOVE and Christ's PERSEVERANCE” 2 Thessalonians 3:4


Perseverance REQUIRES
NO special abilities
Just a STRONG MIND
And a strong WILL


A will that says
“DO NOT QUIT”


Sometimes the clouds come by
Sometimes the SUN comes out


Whatever the day brings
We MUST PERSEVERE
We MUST have the will
To KEEP ON TRYING


“TEST me Lord
And try me


EXAMINE my heart
And my mind” Psalm 26:2


“As you are going
With your adversary
To the MAGISTRATE


TRY HARD
To be reconciled
On the way


Or your adversary
May DRAG you
OFF to the judge

WHATEVER you are doing

RECOGNIZING WOMEN OF FAITH

RECOGNIZING WOMEN OF FAITH


We ALL have women
Who have TOUCHED our life
WOMEN who have been party RESPONSIBLE
For our SUCCESS in life


Jesus was NO DIFFERENT=he had his
Mother=he had MARY MAGDALENE=and he
HAD many women FOLLOWERS


“ACCOMPANYING him were the TWELVE=and
SOME WOMEN...........” Luke 8:1-2


It is REMARKABLE that almost 2,000
Years ago=women had such a PROMINENT ROLE


Jesus was EXTREMELY close to his mother-and-
To Mary Magdalene and had many
OTHER women followers


TODAY'S gospel mention SOME by name=
“The twelve were with him
And also some women
Who had been CURED
Of evil spirits and diseases:


Mary(called Magdalene)=from whom
Seven demons had come out


Joanna the wife of Chuza=the manager
Of Herod's household=Susanna=
And many others


These women were HELPING to
SUPPORT them
Out of their own means” Luke 8:2-3


And I have had MANY women who
Have SUPPORTED me in FAITH
And who have BELIEVED in me-and
MY MISSION for my life


My own mom who ONCE said
WHEN I said=
“No son=ever loved their mother more”
She said=”MAYBE JESUS”


And I have had many other women=who=
Have SUPPORTED me=
My sisters=Terri and Mary=My aunts Stella-Karen and Betty=
And friends like Diane-Lin-Cheryl-and Lori=just to
NAME a few=and the list could go on and on


RECOGNIZING the women of my life
Recognizing=THE WOMEN OF FAITH


Jesus had a SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP
With his mother=his first follower=
And she REQUESTED his first miracle


“WHEN the wine was gone=Jesus' mother
Said to him-
'They have NO MORE WINE'


'Woman-why do you involve me?'
Jesus replied-
'My HOUR has NOT yet come'” John 2:3-4


But he came THROUGH with the
Wine for the wedding and HIS MOM


Because she LOVED him
Because she had FAITH in him


And of course=Mary Magdalene=
HIS BEST FRIEND


“Mary Magdalene and the other Mary
Went to LOOK at the tomb” Matthew 28:1


“The ANGEL said to the women
'Do NOT be afraid=
For I know that you
Are LOOKING for Jesus


He was crucified-
He is NOT HERE
He has RISEN
Just as he said


'COME and see=the place
WHERE he lay=then go
And TELL his disciples.........'” Matthew 28:5-7


RECOGNIZING the women of FAITH
Recognizing OUR BEST FRIENDS


MANY of the MOST influential people
In our lives=in MY LIFE
Have been women


My mother-my sisters-my cousins-
And SOME of my very BEST FRIENDS


From the TIME OF Jesus-
Until now-
WOMEN have played a CRITICAL ROLE
In our development-
And the BIBLE STORY


Let us RECOGNIZE them today=
And let us be GRATEFUL
For these VALIANT WOMEN


Let us offer PRAYERS for them=
And WORDS of thanks and PRAISE
For our DEVELOPMENT


In the name of Jesus=the women of HIS LIFE=
And his MOST HEAVENLY FATHER

BEARING WITHIN US
THE PRESENCE OF CHRIST


There are MANY people who
Are ILL in this world


I=myself=after surviving three acute operations
When I was 22=have SURVIVED
Many years with Crohn's disease=
And ENDURED four more intestinal operations


ALL of us have something
We have to deal with=and
ALL of us have some particular
TYPE of sin=
That we have to deal with


We all NEED doctors=need ministers and priests=
And MOST essentially
NEED God and Christ


“Those who are well-
Do NOT need a physician


But the sick do” Matthew 9:12


EVEN healthy people need personal
Health checkups=and even really
GOOD PEOPLE=need SHEPHERDING
To keep from straying


STRIVING to stay healthy is
DIFFERENT from suffering with a disease


And all of us SINNERS
Are struggling whether
We acknowledge it or NOT


Last year=Pope Francis designated it
As a year of DIVINE MERCY
And there is NOTHING like
MERCY from God=or mercy
From another to PICK US UP


We are ALL BEARING
Within US the PRESENCE OF GOD


And we NEED to give that
PRESENCE & MERCY back and forth
To one another


“Because of my INTEGRITY
You uphold me
And set me
In your PRESENCE FOREVER” Psalm 41:12


“How can we THANK God enough
For you in RETURN
For all the JOY


We have in the PRESENCE
Of our God because of you?” 1 Thessalonians 3:9


“This is HOW we know
That we BELONG
To the truth and how we set
Our hearts at REST
IN his presence” 1 John 3:19


BEARING within us
The PRESENCE OF GOD


As Christians=we bear withing us
The presence of Christ=and it
IS OUR JOB to bring MERCY
To everyone that we meet


WHETHER they know it or not


“Remember Lord-your great MERCY
And LOVE=for they
Are from of old” Psalm 25:6


“WHOEVER conceals their sins
Does not prosper


But the one who CONFESSES
And renounces them FINDS MERCY” Proverbs 28:13


“As you know
We COUNT as BLESSED
Those who have persevered


And have seen
What the Lord
Finally brought about


The LORD is FULL of
COMPASSION and MERCY” James 5:11


Dear Lord=we bear WITHIN
The HEALING PRESENCE of God
Because of you


HELP us to be a HEALING PRESENCE
And BRING MERCY to those
We encounter today

To say we are a
CHRISTIAN society


We have to ASK ourselves
About our Christian BEHAVIOR=where
Is the LOVE=the kindness=
The forgiveness


Where is the Christian behavior
In our world?
In our country?
WHERE is the LOVE for
Our brothers and sisters in Christ?
For ALL people?=Christ lived and died
For all


“Then to what
Shall I COMPARE
The people of this generation?


What are they like?
They are like children-
Who SIT in the marketplace-
And CALL to one another


'We PLAYED the flute for you
But you did not dance
We sang a dirge
But you did NOT weep'” Luke 7-31-32


This passage could-
Just as easily BE
About today=as some 2,000 years ago


Jesus could just as easily
ASK us the SAME question


As we have to ANSWER
That we often behave
Like CHILDREN in the marketplace


Pitting ourselves ONE against another-
Name calling-deriding others' beliefs-
Jealousy-insecurity-etc., etc., etc.


And what about OUR political system=
BEHAVING so childishly


Where is the CHRISTIAN BEHAVIOR
In today's world=we are ALL
In this TOGETHER


“The disciples were CALLED
Christians first at Antioch” Acts 11:26


A Christian should EMBODY
The TRAITS of Christ-the LOVE=the KINDNESS=
The FORGIVENESS


WALK like a CHRISTIAN=Talk
Like a Christian=
GIVE UP your love for one another=
Be in UNITY with each other


“Then Agrippa said to Paul
'Do you think that-
In such a short time
You can PERSUADE me
To be a Christian?'” Acts 26:28


“Paul replied,
'SHORT TIME or long-I PRAY to God
That NOT only you
But all who


Who are LISTENING to me today
May BECOME
What I am---except
For these chains'” Acts 26:29


And that is the ATTITUDE
That we ALL should have
As CHRISTIANS-to LIVE our lives
In such a way=that others
WANT to be like us


That is the STORY of
OUR SAINT for today


Saints Andrew-Paul Chong and their companions=
They ILLUSTRATE the SUMMIT
Of CHRISTIAN BEHAVIOR


These martyrs gave up their lives
And fought strict prohibition
To bring CHRIST to the people
Of an isolated country


Their CHRISTIAN message
Threatened the security
Of those in POWER


They SPOKE about Christ
And brought Christianity
To the people of KOREA


“BUT do this with
GENTLENESS and RESPECT


Keeping a CLEAR conscience
So that those
Who speak maliciously


AGAINST your good behavior in Christ
May be ASHAMED
Of their slander” 1 Peter 3:15-16


Live the GOOD life
Live the CHRISTIAN LIFE=
Make other people
Want to be like you


In the name of Jesus and HIS most HEAVENLY FATHER

A SPECIAL KIND OF HOPE=
BRINGING LIFE


Today we read about Jesus
BRINGING a SPECIAL KIND of HOPE
To a widow=the widow NAIN
To be SPECIFIC


Who just lost her SON=in so MANY
Of the stories=SOMEONE comes to Jesus
And ASKS for help


But TODAY=this time Jesus SEES the
Woman=and IMMEDIATELY acts
With GREAT COMPASSION to her suffering


“When the LORD saw her
He was MOVED with pity
For her and said to her


'DO NOT WEEP'=he stepped forward
And TOUCHED the coffin........
And he said


'Young man--------I tell you ARISE!'” Luke 7:13-14


This woman had not only
Just lost her SON-
But as a woman


In a patriarchal society-
She had NOT ANY PROTECTION


But Jesus BRINGS LIFE
And HOPE out of a desperate situation


A SPECIAL KIND OF HOPE=Jesus
BRINGING LIFE=
Out of a dire situation


As he did with me
WHEN I was on my deathbed
When I was 22=next January
I WILL BE 63 years young


“YES=my soul=
Find REST in God
My HOPE=comes from him” Psalm 62:5


“But those
Who HOPE in the Lord
Will RENEW their strength


They will SOAR on wings
Like eagles
They will run
And NOT grow weary


They will walk
And not be faint” Psalm 40:31


There is a SPECIAL KIND of HOPE
In the LORD=there is a SECOND CHANCE
With the LORD=A special KIND OF HOPE!


We FIND God=we find JESUS
At the CROSSRODS of our life=a devastating rejection=
A major health crisis-we ARE
At the CROSSROADS of our life


Like the Widow NAIN=Jesus will STEP UP
And give us a SPECIAL KIND of HOPE=
At the CROSSROADS of our life


“THIS is what the Lord says:
'Stand at the CROSSROADS and LOOK
Ask for the ancient paths-


And WHERE the good way is-
And WALK in it


And you will FIND REST-
For your souls


But you said-
'We will not walk in it'” Jeremiah 6:16


Like the widow Nain= we need
To SOMEHOW get the LORD'S ATTENTION
We need to get HIS HELP


For a SPECIAL KIND OF HOPE=
HOPE out of a hopeless situation=
LIFE out of death


Like the widow NAIN'S SON


“The Lord is MY LIGHT
And my SALVATION-
whom shall I fear?


The LORD
Is the STRONGHOLD of my life-----
Of whom shall I be afraid” Psalm 27:1


“In him was LIFE
And the life that was LIGHT
Of ALL MANKIND


The light SHINES in the darkness
And the darkness
Has NOT overcome it” John 1:4-5


So IF you come to
The CROSSROADS of your life
REACH OUT to Jesus
Reach out to the Lord


For a SPECIAL KIND OF HOPE=and
A special KIND OF LIFE and LOVE

BELIEVING AND NOT SEEING

BELIEVING & NOT SEEING


Today we READ
Of the CENTURION SOLDIER=
A man of GREAT FAITH


A man UNLIKE=our FAMOUS
Saint Thomas=who had to see
TO BELIEVE


He=the centurion= was a man
Of BOTH obedience and command
A SOLDIER=and he was USED
To being in CONTROL


“For I too am a person-
SUBJECT to authority


With soldiers subject to me” Luke 7:8


It is EASY to TRUST God
When are lives are going
Just right=when they=our LIVES
Are under control


Like when we are making
VISIBLE=moral improvements
In our life


Or when we have OVERCOME
An addiction=it is easy
To SEE GOD then


But what about
When our lives are PLUMMETING
Out of control


Like when a catastrophic illness strikes
Or when we lose a job
Or an IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP


“But the man
Who has SETTLED the matter
In his own mind


Who is under NO COMPULSION
But has CONTROL
Over his own will


And who has made up his mind
NOT TO marry the virgin=
This man also
Has done the RIGHT THING” 1 Corinthians 7:37


OUR CENTURION SOLDIER
BELIEVED in Jesus=and believed
SO MUCH that he
Did not have to see


“That is why-
I do not even
Consider myself
WORTHY to come to you


But SAY the word
And my servant will be HEALED
…......” Luke 7:6


Jesus was AMAZED at his FAITH
And said:
“I tell you=I have not found
Such GREAT FAITH=even in ISRAEL” Luke 7:9


I too have EXPERIENCED
Several near-death experiences=
But because of MY FAITH=
I have SURVIVED


And then we have Thomas=
Who NEEDED to SEE to believe


I will leave it to Jesus
Who ALWAYS said everything BEST


“Then Jesus told him(Thomas)
'BECAUSE you have seen me
You have believed


BLESSED are those who
Have NOT SEEN-
And yet have BELIEVED” John 20:25


Our LORD=we PRAY for the FAITH
Of the ROMAN SOLDIER=
And all those who NEED
To see to believe=
To have MORE FAITH

Do you EXPRESS mercy and
FORGIVENESS=to those who
Make it difficult for you?


The author of Sirach
Makes it CLEAR that we CANNOT
Expect mercy and forgiveness-
From God


UNLESS we extend it to others
“Should a man refuse
MERCY to his fellows


Yet seek PARDON for his own sins?” Sirach 28:4


Jesus too=expressed how VITAL
These CORE ELEMENTS are in his teachings


Peter asks Jesus=HOW MANY TIMES
Should I forgive my brother=7x=
Pretty GENEROUS right?
LISTEN to Jesus' answer


“I tell you=NOT 7x=
But 77 times” Matthew 18:22


In other words=you NEED to
FORGIVE as many times as your
Brother or sister=sins against you


And Jesus' own PRAYER to
HIS FATHER says:


“And FORGIVE us our debts
As we have also=FORGIVEN
Our debtors” Matthew 16:12


So HOW can we
EXPECT FORGIVENESS from God=
If we don't EXTEND
MERCY & FORGIVENESS to
Our brothers and sisters


WE LIVE in a primarily CHRISTIAN country


HOW can it be then
That within our FAMILY
Of devoted Christians


We have parents disowning their children
SIBLINGS refusing to speak to
ONE ANOTHER


People HOLDING GRUDGES and
DELIBERATELY avoiding RECONCILIATION?
And on and on and on


LAST YEAR Pope Francis designated it
As a YEAR OF MERCY
But every day=every year
IS a DAY of MERCY with God


And it should be with us too=and
For ALL our brothers and sisters
And those in this world


“HAVE MERCY on me-my God
Have mercy on me


For in you I take refuge
I will take REFUGE
In the shadow of your wings


UNTIL the disaster has PASSED” Psalm 57:1


Dear Lord=WE PRAY=that
Our OWN HEARTS express mercy and forgiveness
Toward ANYONE=who brings
HURT into our lives


In the name of JESUS OUR LORD=and his MOSY HEAVENLY FATHER

There are only TWO things
That we can do
PREPARE=physically-mentally=and SPIRITUALLY
For the hurricane
And/or FLEE TOWN


And of course=as ALWAYS=
LIVE by the LAWS of LOVE=
LOVING GOD and LOVING OTHERS

There are ALL KINDS of laws
In this world


DURING the ministry of Jesus-
The JEWISH PROPLE
Were supposed to FOLLOW 613
Religious laws


The Catholic Church-
Has 1752 canons of law
And years ago=the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT
Listed about 3,000 individual
Federal laws


But Jesus boiled EVERYTHING to two=
Or ONE=if you prefer
JUST LOVE BABY


LOVE God and love your NEIGHBOR


“'The most IMPORTANT ONE,'
Jesus answered,
'Is this:
Hear O Israel=The Lord our God
The LORD is ONE


LOVE the LORD your God
With ALL your heart
And with all your SOUL


And with
All your mind
And with all your STRENGTH'


The SECOND is this:
'LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR
As yourself


There is NO commandment
Greater than these'” Mark 12:29-31


LIVING THE LAWS
Of the LORD
BE KIND=Be kind=at all times
To ONE ANOTHER


Paul told the ROMANS
“LOVE is the FULFILLMENT
Of the LAW”


Just LOVE BABY=
LIVING the laws of the LORD


IF we BELIEVE the news
That we see and that
We read=MANY PEOPLE
Ignore and violate
The laws of this world


LIVING the laws of
The Lord=living the laws
OF LOVE


“For in CHRIST JESUS

The only thing that COUNTS
Is FAITH=
EXPRESSING itself through LOVE” Galatians 5:6


So LOVE your God/OUR GOD
With everything you have got-
And BE LOVING to your NEIGHBOR

PRACTICE BELIEVING=KEEP on believing
There is a FUTURE=for

We TRUST in GOD'S MERCY
These words are TRUE FOREVER
God's MERCY ENDURES for us=forever


“ALL the believers
Were ONE in heart and mind


No one CLAIMED
That any of their possessions
Was their own


But they SHARED everything
They had” Acts 4:32


“MY brothers and sisters=
BELIEVERS in our GLORIOUS

From GOD:


LIGH=SALVATION=& REFUGE

The Lord
Is my life's REFUGE
Of WHOM

This psalm DESCIBES to us
That we NEVER have anything to FEAR-
Because we have these words of COMFORT

DEAR LORD-this weekend we celebrate the holiday for those of us who WORK-whether we work or do not-PLEASE HELP US to take some time out for REST and also spend some time with you-for we LIVE in the GREATEST and MOST FREE country in the world


FOR that alone Lord-we give you thanks


LORD-we know you rested on the 7^th day-we will take some time to REST this weekend and SPEND some time ALONE with you


WE LOVE YOU- and it is A GREAT DAY to be alive-A GREAT WEEKEND to be ALIVE in your PRECIOUS LOVE FOR US

DON’T FORGET TO REST
Rest is a BLESSING
It allows our body-mind-and soul
A chance to recharge


Sometimes we can urge ourselves
To do one more thing
COMPLETE one more task
And it leads to another
And before you know it
WE ARE DRAINED


Take the time to rest
Whether it be
The Sabbath day
Like the Lord suggested
Or even just a minute here-a day there
Or a day or two there


“Remember the Sabbath day
By KEEPING it holy
Six days you shall labor
And do ALL your work
But the seventh day
IS a Sabbath day to the Lord your God” Exodus 20:8-10
(*It doesn’t have to be a Saturday or a Sunday)


Or even just some hours
To put your MIND at REST
And meditate on the
AWARENESS OF GOD’S PRESENCE
In your life


It does not matter
As long as
We do it-in some fashion


Dear Lord-we pray
That we NEVER FORGET you
And that we take a day
Or a few hours each day
To step back
And think about what’s important
In life


GOD-and FAMILY-and FAITH


For REST is a BLESSING
To help us
KEEP our priorities in order


We pray
That we work
AS you worked
And that we-like you

With God=it IS a lot like
A marriage


You are TOGETHER through
Thick and thin=and just like
A marriage=WHEN you NEED
Your partner to CARRY the ball=


God is THERE to CARRY YOU-
However far you NEED to go


“O God-you ARE my God-
Whom I seek” Psalm 63:2


In TODAY'S readings=
Jeremiah speaks of his INTIMACY
With God


He is HONEST with God


“You duped me,” he says Jeremiah 20:7


Jeremiah describes his sufferings
And how he has ENDURED them


He wants to QUIT
Being a prophet-
But he CAN'T-because-
His HEART becomes like
A BURNING FIRE


“But if I say
'I will NOT mention his word
Or speak anymore---
In his name


HIS WORD is IN my heart
Like a FIRE


A fire shut up
In my bones


I am weary
Of holding it-indeed-
I CANNOT” Jeremiah 20:9


I am a lot like-
JEREMIAH=my soul BURNS with PASSION
FOR the Lord


And if I am HONEST
I can barely go THROUGH a day
Without writing=without GIVING
My LIFE & LOVE to God
And to Jesus


BURNING for a DEEP
PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with God
Just like Jeremiah-
Just like OUR JESUS


And if YOU are honest=
I will bet your soul
BURNS WITH PASSION-
For our Lord too


Passion for that DEEP=
Personal relationship with God
That CLOSE RELATIONSHIP


“The Lord is CLOSE
To the brokenhearted-
And SAVES those

Paul says INTIMACY with God
Means OFFERING our bodies
As a LIVING SACRIFICE
To God


Something I did do=when
I was 22=and on my deathbed


And Jesus tells us-INTIMACY with God
Is THINKING as God thinks
And TAKING UP our cross
And FOLLOWING Jesus

I USED to be
A FINANCIAL PLANNER and work
In the stock market


My job was to BRING PEOPLE
The highest possible RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI)
For their money


In MANY WAYS=my job is
The SAME TODAY=to HELP PEOPLE
Bring the=their highest ROI
For God=to help people USE their TALENTS=
NOT waste them

HERE it is back'


His MASTER said to him=in reply=
'You wicked-lazy servant!........

COULD have got it back

So this LIFE is about LEARNING
To GIVE BACK to God
And OTHERS=using our talents
To make this world
A BETTER PLACE


GIVING BACK TO GOD=
AND OTHERS


“The PRECEPTS of the Lord
Are right


GIVING JOY-to the heart
The commands of the Lord
Are radiant


GIVING LIGHT to the eyes” Psalm 19:8


“A person finds joy
In GIVING
An apt reply-----


And how good
Is a TIMELY WORD” Proverbs 15:23


“........so that your GIVING
May be in SECRET


Then your Father
Who sees what
Is done in secret
Will REWARD YOU” Matthew 6:4


Of course=we don't give to
Get back=but our LORD=
ALWAYS gives us back=MORE
Than what we can ever give


LET us take a CLOSER look
At today's parable


A wealthy man goes on a trip-
TWO of the servants=
DOUBLE their investment


The third one BURIES IT=and doesn't
Even get interest=for his MASTER


THIS is a parable
About laziness=about NOT USING
Your life=to GIVE BACK TO GOD
And to OTHERS


This is a PARABLES about
USING our lives for the BENEFIT
Of this world=about
GIVING something back=a ROI
(RETURN ON INVESTMENT) to God


“If you RETURN
To the ALMIGHTY
You will be RESTORED


If you remove wickedness
FAR from your tent” Job 22:23


“What shall
I RETURN to the Lord
For all his GOODNESS
To me?” Psalm 116:12


Dear Lord=THANK YOU
For ALL the gifts
You have given us


We look to RETURN to you
To GIVE BACK TO GOD
The GIFT of our lives=
Through our talents


HELP us to do just that=and be
NOT AFRAID and bury our talents


In the NAME of Jesus OUR LORD=
And his MOST HEAVENLY FATHER
