NOTICING the difference
As every one of us
Is CHOSEN BY GOD

In 1977, in a hospitalization
That began on my 22^nd birthday
I was given zero per cent
CHANCE TO LIVE


THOUGH I have had
A LIFETIME of chronic illness
Here I sit
WRITING this in SEPTEMBER
Of 2019


GOD WORKS THE IMPOSSIBLE!


“Thus says the Lord of HOSTS

Should seem IMPOSSIBLE


In the eyes
Of the remnant
Of this people


Should it
In those days
BE IMPOSSIBLE

Zechariah's words
Are a foretelling
Of Jesus' own words


“Jesus looked at them

'With man this
Is IMPOSSIBLE


But with God
ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE'” Matthew 19:26


All the prophets
Urge us
To PLACE OUR HOPE


In the mystery of
GOD'S POWER
And to trust
In the LOVE of God


Our FAITH in God
Calls us to EXPECT
The unexpected


To NEVER give up
Because God promises us
THE IMPOSSIBLE can happen
At any time


“Jesus replied
'What is IMPOSSIBLE
With man
Is POSSIBLE for God'” Luke 18:27


“But God
Raised him
From the dead


Freeing him
From the agony of death


Because it was IMPOSSIBLE
For death
To keep its hold

How would you
Define an angel


The one word
That comes to my mind
Is “Heavenly”


Beings that help us along
On life’s journey
Beings that assist us
In one way or another


Psalm 91:11 &12 says
“For he will command his angels
Concerning you
To guard you in all your ways


They will lift you up
In their hands
So that you will
Not strike your foot
Against a stone”


Heavenly---to be sure


I have had many earthly angels
In my life
My parents---my 2 sisters
And other family members and friends
To help me along the way


I know
I would not be sitting here today---writing this
If it were not for them


But there are also
Angels from heaven
That God has actually used
To deliver messages too


We know
That the angel Gabriel
Helped Daniel to understand his visions


We know
That the angel Gabriel
Appeared to Zechariah
At the birth of John the Baptist


And above all
We know that he appeared to Mary
To ask her
To be the Mother of God


TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL


Then we have Saint Michael
Our defender and protector
To help us
Against the wickedness and snares of the devil


Michael appears
In the book of Daniel
As the special guardian and protector of Israel


And in the book of Revelation
As the principal fighter for God
In the fight
Between good and evil


Michael’s power is so strong
That it is believed
That souls can be rescued
Even from hell itself


May we all be so lucky


Finally we have the angel Raphael
Named in the book of Tobot


Raphael’s name means
“God has healed”


My wish for all of us is that
We will be touched by many beings
Both heavenly and earthly
To help us
On life’s journey


And that you feel
God’s love and presence---SO STRONG
Inside of you


That you know
That you have been blessed by God
And that indeed---you have been

DEPENDING ON THE LORD!


Today we have the PARABLE
Of the rich man and LAZARUS


The rich man wants Abraham to
SEND a RESURRECTED person=Lazarus
Back to his brothers
To warn them of
The DANGERS of hell
WHERE he is


But he receives
The PERFECT ANSWER
“If they will NOT LISTEN
To Moses and the prophets


NEITHER will they
Be persuaded
If someone
Should RISE from the dead” Luke 16:31


We KNOW that Jesus
ROSE from the dead
In fulfillment
Of the prophecies


ISN'T it sad
That some people
Don't believe
In the RESURRECTION OF JESUS?


Hopefully we are NOT LIVING
A self-absorbed-indulgent lifestyle


Hopefully we are LIVING
A life=and DEPENDING
On the Lord
For the GIFTS of this life


“My salvation and my honor
DEPEND ON GOD


He is my mighty rock and
My refuge” Psalm 62:7


“Leave your fatherless children
I will keep
Them alive


Your widows too
Can DEPEND ON ME” Jeremiah 49:11


YES it is sad
When people don't believe
In the Lord


And it is sadder still
When we don't realize
That our own RESURRECTION


REQUIRES more than
Believing in him


We need to live our lives
Loving God
We need to live our lives
LOVING our neighbor
(the first two commandments)


MAY we learn
From the rich man
NOT to get caught up
In the earthly treasures
Of this world


It is a trap
Depending on the LORD!


DEPENDING ON THE LORD
For the wants and needs
Of this life


“I do not understand
What I do


For what I
WANT to do
I do not do


But what I hate
I do” Romans 7:15


“I WANT to know Christ--------
Yes to know the power
Of his RESURRECTION


And participate
In the suffering


Becoming like him
In his death” Philippians 3:10


YES DEPENDING ON JESUS=and
The FATHER in this world
And the next

A DEEPER-CLOSER WALK
WITH GOD

WHEN I was
A little bit younger
And a whole lot stronger


I used to walk
Around Riverview Park
A nice park in Pittsburgh, Pa.


Two times around
Was about 4.4 miles
And it would usually take me
About 1 hour and 8 minutes


But sometimes
I would slow down
Take a little bit longer
And take in the BEAUTY
And see the greenery


A couple of times
I even saw some deer


“ALL THIS
You were allowed
To see


That you might know
The Lord is God
And there is no other” Deuteronomy 4:35


SLOW yourself down
And take a DEEPER-
CLOSER walk with God


We can walk
Through life
The same way


A life
Like an exercise
WHERE life is a meaningless trudge


Or slow ourselves down
And take in the greenery
And the deer


And LIFT our eyes
To God
And see the world
And ALL creation
THROUGH NEW EYES


Taking a DEEPER-CLOSER-
WALK WITH GOD


“BLESSED are they
Who have learned
To Acclaim you


Who WALK in the light

“I AM
The LIGHT of the world


WHOEVER follows me

OUR human-made plans

Today we read
In HAGGAI=about the Israelite people
And their RETURN from exile


“Go up into the hill country
Bring timber
And build the house” Haggai 1:8


The people were in
BAD SHAPE=they were lethargic-
Demoralized-and exhausted


Yet they WORKED in the homes
Of the wealthy men=
INSTEAD of working on the TEMPLE=
The HOUSE OF GOD


But God THROUGH
The prophet Haggai
ENCOURAGES them to work
On the Temple=and they do it


God tells the Israelite people
“I am with you”
So they begin working
On REBUILDING the Temple


So how about you?
Have you ever felt
Lethargic-demoralized-and EXHAUSTED?


And you know
You have to REBUILD YOUR LIFE


I have=and it takes
HARD WORK


You have to decide what
You are GOING to PUT IN it
Things like love=honesty=
And SINCERITY
Are GOOD THINGS to
Start with


“For the Lord
Will REBUILD Zion
And appear in his glory” Psalm 102:16


“After this I will return
And REBUILD
David's fallen tent


Its ruins
I will REBUILD
And I will restore it” Acts 15:16


“Therefore this is
What the Lord says=
'I will return
To Jerusalem


With mercy
And my house
Will be REBUILT'” Zechariah 1:16


REBUILDING is an often difficult
Time consuming effort


If it is your life-and
You have been BROKEN=
It can take
The REST of your life


Let us HOPE AND PRAY
When we are OVERWHELMED
By work


That we hear God saying
“I am with you”
To us


Let us ask ourselves=IF we
Need to
REBUILD OUR LIFE


Let us START by trying
To live our lives
In the
FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

Is love-joy-peace-


Forbearance-gentleness

The truth can be

“An HONEST witness
Tells the truth

Who is himself God

ACCEPT THE TRUTH
The truth is God

In the person of Jesus


Nowhere else


It is true
That none of us are perfect
But through the GRACE
Of God

To be better people

FORTUNATELY for us-our God-
Is nothing if not MERCIFUL


And transforms us and creates us

OPENING THE DOOR FOR US

In Luke=Jesus is OPENING
The DOOR FOR US


To be his BROTHERS AND SISTERS
And part of his
VERY OWN FAMILY

Who HEAR the Word of God

There you have it=
ALL you have to do
Is keep
The WORD OF GOD
And you are PART
Of Jesus' FAMILY


At first it looks like
He is IGNORING
His mother and brothers


But he IS NOT
He is USING the occasion
To show us
And the apostles


HOW to create an=even broader FAMILY
And including you and me


He is OPENING THE DOOR
FOR US


“He and all
His FAMILY


Were devout and God-fearing
He gave generously
To those in need


And prayed
To God regularly” Acts 10:2


“He must manage
His own FAMILY WELL
And see that his children
Obey him


And he must do so
In a manner
Worthy of full respect” 1 Timothy 3:4


“God sets the lonely
IN FAMILIES
He leads out


The prisoners
With singing
But the rebellious
Live in a sun-scorched land” Psalm 68:6


We NEED NOT
Be lonely any further
For we BELONG
To the FAMILY OF CHRIST


We are his brothers and sisters
We are PART
Of his family


Jesus defines FAMILY
“As those who hear
The WORD OF GOD
And ACT ON IT”


IF we are following his WORD
That makes us
PART OF Jesus' family


Jesus OPENS THE DOOR
To all of us
To be part of his family


“A friend loves
At all times


And a BROTHER
Is born
In a time of adversity” Proverbs 17:17

But there is a FRIEND
Who sticks closer

KEEP getting the WORD out
Keep talking about GOD AND JESUS


And make him as RELEVANT

2,000 years ago=HE IS

In today's reading from Timothy
WE find him
Asking for PRAYERS and WISDOM
For those in authority


BUIDING A POSITIVE WORLD

PRAYERS-petitions-and thanksgivings
Be offered for everyone


For kings
And for ALL IN AUTHORITY
That we may lead
A quiet and tranquil life
In all DEVOTION AND DIGNITY” 1 Timothy 2:1-2


I have NEVER lived
A public life=
So I don't know


What kind of things
People go through


But I can PRAY for
Our church leaders=and
Our civil leaders


That they all
BE GUIDED by God
And are RESPSONSIBLE=
Sincere=and honest
In their DEALINGS


And that they have the
BEST INTEREST of the world
And the people
IN THEIR HEARTS


So please join me today
In PRAYING for those
In authority


Our civil leaders=
And our church leaders
That they are GUIDED BY GOD


BUILDING A POSITIVE WORLD


“GUIDE me
In your truth
And teach me


For you are
God my SAVIOR


And my hope is in you

“When you walk
They will GUIDE YOU
When you sleep


They will watch over you
When you awake

WHY does one person

IT IS ATTITUDE

In the ATTITUDE

Your NEW SELF


CREATED to be like God
In true righteousness

That's right
You are CREATED NEW
To be MORE like God


And two things
I can tell you
About God-ARE:


GOD ALWAYS loves you
No matter what situation
You find yourself in


And God always
WANTS good things for you


Good things
To HAPPEN in your life


SO KEEP IT POSITIVE


God is nothing
If he is not positive
If he is not perfect


In every way
PARTICULARLY IN ATTITUDE


“TASTE and see
That the Lord
IS GOOD


BLESSED is the one
Who takes refuge in him” Psalm 34 :8


“A GOOD MAN
Brings good things
Out of the good
STORED UP
In his heart
….....
For the mouth speaks
What the HEART
IS FULL OF” Luke 6:45


So keep THE ATTITUDE POSITIVE


And do it
By thinking GOOD THOUGHTS
And by surrounding yourself
WITH GOOD PEOPLE


People that will ENCOURAGE YOU
And try to
LIFT you up-NOT
Tear you down


YOUR THOUGHTS
Are like your friends
And they both
NEED to be positive
For you-and your life
TO STAY POSITIVE


THOUGHTS are
The biggest influence
In your life


So don't hang out with
Negativity-with discouragement-and dissatisfaction


IF you are hanging out
With them-you are hanging out
WITH THE WRONG CROWD


So keep the attitude positive
And keep on hanging out
WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE


And hang out with GOD
Who FOREVER LOVES YOU


And you will
FIND God along way
To having

FOLLOWING JESUS=LIKE MATTHEW

FOLLOWING JESUS=LIKE MATTHEW


Today=we HONOR Saint Matthew=
One of the first FOLLOWERS
And an APOSTLE of Christ


Matthew is a TAX COLLECTOR
And he is called
Out as such=as he is
BEFRIENDED BY Christ


“As Jesus went on
From there=He saw a man
Named Matthew


Sitting at
The tax collector's booth


'FOLLOW ME' he told him
And Matthew got up
And followed him” Matthew 9:9-10


How about us? Jesus is telling us
To get up and FOLLOW HIM too=
Are we going
To do it?


Are we going to MAKE
The Lord a PRIORITY in our life?
Are we going=
To follow Jesus with
OUR VERY LIVES?


FOLLOWING JESUS=just like Matthew


“Surely your goodness and love
WILL FOLLOW ME
All the days
Of my life


And I will dwell
In the HOUSE
Of the Lord-forever” Psalm 23:6


“Then Jesus said
To his disciples=
'Whoever wants to be
My disciple=must deny themselves


And take up their cross

MOST of us will NEVER
Have to GIVE OURSELVES to God
Like the GREAT Saint Matthew


He spent years with Jesus=
He WROTE the first GOSPEL
And he died a MARTYR'S DEATH


And Jesus had to
TAKE SHOTS from the Pharisees
For being with his friends=
Tax collectors and sinners


“While Jesus
Was having dinner
At Matthew's house


MANY tax collectors and sinners
Came and ate with him
And his disciples


When the Pharisees saw this
They asked his disciples=
'Why does your TEACHER
EAT with tax collectors
And sinners?'” Matthew 9:10-11


And it was the sinners
Who NEEDED him most
JUST LIKE US


WILL we make room
In our lives=for JESUS=
Like Matthew did?
Will we be
DEVOTED to him
Like Matthew?


Will we FOLLOW HIM=
Like the great Saint Matthew?


“FOLLOW God's example-therefore-
As dearly loved children
And WALK in the way
OF LOVE


Just as Christ loved us
And gave himself up for us
As a fragrant offering
And sacrifice to God” Ephesians 5:1-2


For Matthew=Jesus' name=
Was MERCY=for us too
May we FOLLOW MATTHEW
And the Golden Rule


As we follow JESUS TOO

( or the story of Saint Matthew )










“Honey---
The tax man is here”


How many of us
Like to hear those words


Or how many of us
Like getting a letter
From the IRS in the mail
Or going downtown for an audit


This is the story of Saint Matthew
Originally called Levi
A tax collector of the Jewish people
Who worked for the Roman government


One day
Jesus met Matthew
At his tax collector’s booth
And said, “follow me”


One night---while having dinner at Matthew’s house
And many of his tax collector friends
Some of the teachers of Jewish law
Were asking his disciples,
“Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners”


Jesus heard about the conversation, and said,
“It is not the healthy who need a Doctor
But the sick
I have not come to call the righteous---but sinners” Mark 2:16&17


Good for the Apostles
And very good for us


It is believed
That after the Resurrection
That Matthew went on
To preach the Word of God
Either in Ethiopia or Persia


And it is believed
That Matthew wrote his Gospel
From Antioch
Primarily to the Jews
But also to Gentiles and Christians


As an original Apostle
He gave us an eyewitness account


Jesus speaks more
In Matthew’s Gospel
Than in any of the other Gospels
And Matthew quotes
From many of the Old Testament books
To prove that Jesus certainly is
The “Fulfillment”---The Anointed One


Matthew traces the genealogy of Jesus
Describes Jesus’ temptation in the desert
And concludes his Gospel
With the calling of the GREAT COMMISSION
To all believers


Matthew teaches us
That the standards of God are high
And that the example that he---God---gave us
Is perfect---Jesus Christ


And Matthew teaches us
That Christ is sufficient
For whatever need we might have
And that the ways of God
Are infinitely higher
Than the ways of this world

JESUS JOURNEYS WITH US!


We are all on a JOURNEY
Through life=we can travel=
We can JOURNEY=with God and Jesus


IF we give him the chance
Jesus clearly JOURNEYS with us=
Jesus walks with us


“After this-
Jesus TRAVELED about from one town
And village to another


Proclaiming the good news
Of the kingdom of God


The twelve were with him
And also some WOMEN
Who had been cured
Of evil spirits and diseases


Including Mary Magdalene=from whom
Seven demons had come out” Luke 8:1-2


WHENEVER I travel
It is easy to FEEL
The Lord's presence


I feel him=in my heart
In my mind=and
In my soul-
As I travel to
My family=and to my friends


I even feel him
WHEN I am in the big cities
In the urban areas


For Jesus travels with me
JOURNEYS with me
Wherever I go


JESUS JOURNEYS WITH US!


“The Lord your God
Has blessed you
In all the work
Of your hands


He has
Watched over your JOURNEY
Through this vast wilderness” Deuteronomy 2:7


“Again it will be
Like a man
Going on a JOURNEY


Who called his servants
And entrusted
His wealth to them” Matthew 25:14


“I plan to do so
When I go to Spain


I hope to see you
While passing through
And to have you
Assist me


On my JOURNEY there” Romans 14:25


God the FATHER
Traveled with Jesus
Wherever he went


He was even with him
On Calvary=for how else
Could he have ROSE
From the dead


And God and Jesus=journeyed
With the apostles and Saint Paul
WHEREVER they went=for
How else
Could they have CONTINUED
To do CHRIST'S WORK


And Jesus JOURNEYS with us
With me=wherever we go
Jesus JOURNEYS with us
Through our travels
WHEREVER we go


“Woe to you
Teachers of the law
And Pharisees-
You hypocrites!


You TRAVEL over
Land and sea
To win a single convert


And when you have succeeded
You make them twice as much
A child of hell
As you are” Matthew 23:15


JESUS JOURNEYS WITH US!

We have to RESPECT
Our aged in this world=
But we have to
BUILD UP our youth too!

That I know
The FUTURE
Looks bright for us

Paul writes this to YOUNG Timothy
Attempting to BUILD him up


Our culture tends to
IDOLIZE YOUTH=how wonderful
It would be
To be young again


And KNOW what I know now=
We should be KINDER
To our aged
But we should be kinder
To our YOUTH TOO


Instead of being
PREJUDICED against our young people


BUILDING UP our youth!
Our young people today
Just as much


As in Saint Paul's day
NEED loving care and mentoring
The kind that Paul
ATTEMPTS to give
His friend-Timothy


“Don't let anyone
Look down on you
Because you are YOUNG
But set an example
In speech


In conduct
In love
In faith
And in purity


Until I come
Devote yourself
To the public reading
Of Scripture


To preaching
And to teaching” 1 Timothy 4:12-13


When I look
At my NIECES
When I look at
A lot of the
YOUNG PEOPLE=that I know


I see some cause
FOR OPTIMISM


The GIFTS that they have
Are much
And they need
TO BE CHERISHED
And drawn out wisely


“I was YOUNG
And now I am old


Yet I have never seen
The righteous forsaken


Or their children
Begging bread” Psalm 37:25


“The glory of YOUNG MEN
Is their strength


Gray hair
The splendor of the old” Proverbs 20:29


“I am writing to you
YOUNG MEN


Because you have overcome
The evil one” 1 John 2:13


Our YOUTH need the WORD
Of God=they need to know
The UNIQUE IMAGES of God


Just as Paul brought
The WORD to Timothy
It is up to us
To BRING the good word


And SET the example
For our young


BUILDING UP OUR YOUTH!


Dear Lord=help us to BE OPEN
Tot the WORD=
And bring it
TO OUR YOUTH!

TRY to be KIND

Try DOING what I was taught
As a kid:

DON'T SAY anything at all”


Try to be KIND=
That IS=or at least=
That should be=THE CHRISTIAN WAY=
The true example of
IMITATING CHRIST


DIVINE KINDNESS=what a world
That would be=if=
We all LIVED that way


“The king asked:
'Is there no one still
From the house of Saul


To whom I can
Show God's kindness?'” 2 Samuel 3


That's it=that's the way=
SHOW KINDNESS to all=
Including your enemies


“In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you
For a moment


But with INCREASING KINDNESS
I will have compassion
On you” Isaiah 54:8


Yes the Lord
Shows us DIVINE KINDNESS
EVERY day of our lives


As Christians-the least-
That we can do-is
IMITATE our loving God-our Jesus


And PASS kindness
On to our brothers and sisters
In this world


Yes EXPRESS kindness in
Your words and deeds
USE words like:
“Thank you,” “I'm sorry,”
“I understand,” “I forgive you,”
And “I LOVE YOU”


Yes-DIVINE KINDNESS-can be anywhere
If we are determined to
SAY it-Express it-give and receive it


Let KINDNESS win in you
Let kindness WIN in this world


DIVINE KINDNESS=let it WIN TODAY

“POSSESSED by a demon”


And Jesus is called
“A glutton and a drunkard”
(Luke 7:33-34)


WE all think we know
HOW GOD
Should run this world
We all at times
QUESTION our faith


Become=DISILLUSIONED at times


But there is WISDOM
In this world
There is wisdom
In the CATHOLIC CHURCH
And our LOCAL community churches


John PREACHED the WORD
Jesus LIVED the Word
Of his FATHER


There is WISDOM
In this world=and in
The CHURCH


God has a PLAN=
Just keep on believing


“Jesus said to her
'I AM the resurrection
And the life


The one
Who BELIEVES in me
Will live
Even though they die=


And whoever
Lives by=BELIEVING IN ME

THE COMPASSION OF JESUS!


Today=we see a story
That DEMONSTRATES Jesus' COMPASSION=
Anyone who has ever LOST
A loved one=would be
DRAWN in too


At the ENTRANCE of
The city Nain=
Jesus encounters a weeping woman=
A woman=who has LOST
Her only son


“A man=who has died
Was being carried out


The ONLY SON
Of his mother
And she was a WIDOW” Luke 7:12


We can only IMAGINE Jesus=
An only son


Seeing the PARALLELS between
His own family=this woman
And his VERY OWN MOTHER


FILLED WITH COMPASSION!


I too can IDENTIFY=when I was 22
And being told=
I was NOT going to live


All I could do
Was imagine the PAIN
Of my mom=and my FAMILY
If I was no longer here


JESUS was FILLED WITH COMPASSION!
For the widow Nain


“As a father
Has COMPASSION
On his children


So the Lord
Has COMPASSION
On those who fear him” Psalm 103:13


“For a brief moment
I abandoned you


But with DEEP COMPASSION
I will bring you back” Isaiah 54:7


“But after I uproot them
I will again have COMPASSION


And will bring
Each of them
BACK to their own inheritance
And their own country” Jeremiah 12:15


Jesus knows something
Of the TENDER relationship
Between a MOTHER
And the LOSS of her child


He KNOWS that the LOSS
Of her child=is
Her GREATEST FEAR


I know it too=because I
Could feel MY MOTHER'S PAIN
If I were lost to her=
And this world


COMPASSION MOVES JESUS!


“But while
He was still a
Long way off


His father saw him
And was FILLED
WITH COMPASSION for him


He ran to his son
Threw his arms
Around him=and kissed him” Luke 15:20


Jesus is MOVED with compassion
He restores LIFE
To the widow Nain's SON


And sees an EMBRACE
Between her and her
Almost gone FOREVER SON


THE COMPASSION OF JESUS!=
How does compassion for
The PAIN in someone else
Move you to ACT TODAY?


FILL YOURSELF with

Who is ON YOUR PRAYER LIST?


“Answer me
When I call to you
My righteous God


Give me relief
From my distress
Have mercy on me


And hear MY PRAYER” Psalm 4:1


“The Lord detests
The sacrifice
Of the wicked


But the PRAYER
Of the upright
Pleases him” Proverbs 15:8


“Be joyful in hope
Patient in affliction
FAITHFUL IN PRAYER” Romans 12:12


Some people have PRAYER CHAINS=
And of course=we PRAY
For all the sick and deceased members
In our church


EVERYONE is in NEED of prayer=
Everyone is in NEED=
Of positive thoughts for them
And their afflictions


Sometimes I say PRAYERS
For perfect strangers=I say
A prayer


That God INTERCEDES for them=
In their life today


KEEP ON PRAYING FOR EVERYONE!


Pray for that young man
In a wheelchair=Pray for
That young mother and HER CHILDREN
Pray for the aging
Pray for the DISABLED
PRAY for those victims of wars
And natural disasters


KEEP on praying for everyone=
For I am SURE others
Are PRAYING FOR YOU


“I urge you brothers and sisters
By our Lord Jesus Christ
And by the love
Of the Spirit


To join me
In my struggles
By PRAYING TO GOD
For me” Romans 15:30


KEEP ME in your prayers
My brothers and sisters
As I NEED
Your PRAYERS
To get through every day


And I OFFER MY PRAYERS=
I offer my life=my sufferings
For you


PRAYER is simply the OPENING
Of our hearts=minds=and souls
To God


KEEP ON PRAYING FOR EVERYONE!
For others=I am SURE
Are PRAYING FOR YOU!

LIFE IS A GIFT


I think of ALL the writings
In the BIBLE=Luke chapter 15
Is among my FAVORITES


About one lost sheep-
One lost coin=
And ONE LOST SON=
Yearning for home
And his Father


Otherwise known as the story
Of the PRODIGAL SON


“While he was
STILL a long way off


His father caught sight
Of him
And was FILLED WITH COMPASSION” Luke 15:20


You CAN'T EARN God's love=
It is an OPEN-ENDED GIFT
To us=that is always AVAILABLE


And there is no better
Illustration of this=than chapter 15
Of LUKE'S GOSPEL


There are many people
In this world
That are trying
To just get by


That have DOUBTS in
Their faith=
That have WALKED AWAY
From God


READ chapter 15 of Luke's gospel
And KNOW that God is just
WAITING for you to COME HOME


Just like the FATHER
Of the prodigal son
LIFE=LOVE=is a GIFT from God
Use it wisely=
And COME BACK HOME


“That each of them
May eat and drink
And find satisfaction


In all their toil--------
This is the GIFT
Of God” Ecclesiastes 3:13


“For the wages of sin
Is death


But the GIFT OF GOD
Is eternal life
In Christ Jesus-OUR LORD” Romans 6:23


“Do not neglect YOUR GIFT
Which was given you
Through prophecy


When the body of elders
Laid their hands on you” 1 Timothy 4:14


In the parable
Of the PRODIGAL SON
Jesus reminds us


That God sees us
And LOVES US
From a distance


God stretches out his arms
For us=He is WAITING
For us
To just COME BACK HOME


We don't earn God's gift=
We just ACCEPT IT
As the GIFT
That it is


If you've been AWAY
From God=for a LONG TIME
Just come back HOME
He is WAITING FOR YOU


LIFE is a gift
God's LOVE is a gift
For you

Of our great God

A DEEPER TRUST IN GOD

A DEEPER TRUST IN GOD


MOSES was one of
The all time GREAT LEADERS=
He had a DEEP TRUST-
In God=
I think that
That is what it TAKES


To make it THROUGH
The difficult times
To be an EXAMPLE
For others to follow


“WHY have you brought us
Up from Egypt


To die in the desert
Where there is no food
Or water?” Numbers 21:5


The reason Moses was
Such a GREAT LEADER
Was he had
TREMENDOUS PERSEVERANCE


He could still
SEE A WAY=when
Others couldn't=
He had
A DEEPER TRUST in God


It was that
DEEP TRUST in God
That gave him
The needed INWARD STRENGTH
To keep on moving forward


“Offer the sacrifices
Of the righteous
And TRUST in the Lord” Psalm 4:5


“TRUST in the Lord
With all your heart


And lean NOT
On your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5


“Surely God is my salvation
I will TRUST
And not be afraid


The Lord
The Lord himself
Is my strength
And my defense


He has become
My salvation” Isaiah 12:2


WHEN we attempt
To IMPROVE our life
And the lives
Of others


We can find it difficult
We can run into
Many UNFORSEEN PROBLEMS


It is easy to become discouraged
And RETURN
To our old lifestyle


However=if we are CONVINCED
We are doing
The WILL of God=like Moses
We keep MOVING FORWARD


We find that
DEEP TRUST IN GOD
Depp within ourselves


“Paul and Barnabas
Appointed elders
For them in each church


And with prayer and fasting
Committed them
To the Lord


In whom they had
PUT THEIR TRUST” Acts 14:23


“May the God of hope
Fill you
With all joy and peace
As you TRUST IN HIM........” Romans 15:13


We MUST move forward
As people of FAITH=
TRUSTING that God
Will prevail=
In some UNKNOWN WAY


Like MOSES=with perseverance and patience
We can keep moving forward
To OUR ULTIMATE GOAL

THROUGH THE EYES OF CHRIST


There are many people
IN this world
Who love to
Point out our FLAWS
While they ignore
Their own


I hope I don't
Do this= I TRY to
Be a positive influence
In this world
And BUILD other people up


“You hypocrites! Remove
The wooden beam
From your eye first


Then you will see
CLEARLY to remove
The splinter
In your brother's eye” Luke 6:42


Sometimes we CAN
BE our own worst enemy
We can beat ourselves up=
We can tear ourselves down


That is NOT a good plan
There are ENOUGH other people
In this world=who will
DO THIS for us


Jesus loves us
Jesus CARES about us
Jesus wants to BUILD
Us up


We are loved=Look at yourselves
THROUGH THE EYES
OF CHRIST


“Those who LOOK to him
Are radiant


Their faces
Are never covered
With shame” Psalm 34:5


“Then you will LOOK
And be radiant


Your heart will throb
And swell with joy
The wealth


On the seas
Will be brought to you =
To you


The riches of the nations
Will come” Isaiah 60:5


“Don't let
Anyone LOOK DOWN on you
Because you are young


But set an example
For the believers
In speech


In conduct=in love=
In faith=and in purity” 1 Timothy 4:12


It takes HELP to remove
Something physically
From your own eye
And it takes help
To remove something
From your eyes SPIRITUALLY


LOOK for others=that will
Help BUILD you up
Look for others
That will ENCOURAGE YOU
Look for others


That will look at you
Through eyes of love=
That will see you
THROUGH THE EYES OF CHRIST


“We sent Timothy
Who is our brother
And co-worker


In God's service
In spreading the gospel
Of Christ


To strengthen and ENCOURAGE you
In your faith


So that no one
Would be unsettled
By these trials” 1 Thessalonians 3:2-3


CHRIST knows our struggles=
He knows others struggles too
Yet=he LOOKS ON US
In love


Let us LOOK at others and
OURSELVES=THROUGH the eyes of love=
THROUGH THE EYES OF CHRIST!

What are your
PRIORITIES in life?


I think ONE of
Our top priorities in life
Should be IN BEING
A prime example
Of qualities
For our OWN CHILDREN
And for all children


“Therefore as God's chosen people
Holy and dearly loved


Clothe yourselves
With compassion=kindness=
Humility=gentleness=
And PATIENCE” Colossians 3:12


“And all over these
PUT ON LOVE


That is
The bond of perfection” Colossians 3:14


THINK about it=what
Kind of EXAMPLE have
You been for your children?


Have you taught them
To have FAITH IN GOD
In all circumstances=
BOTH good and bad?


Do you SHOW LOVE
When you can? Do you HUG them?
Are you affectionate?


Do you live a HEALTHY
Life style? And do you ENCOURAGE them
To do the same?


I don't have any children=
But I TRY to be
A role model
For ALL children


I try to be and
SHOW LOVE for them


BE an example for children=
My mother and father were
Great ROLE MODELS for me=
So were my uncles and aunts


“I also saw
Under the sun


This EXAMPLE of wisdom
That greatly impressed me” Ecclesiastes 9:13


Jesus was
The GREATEST example
Of love in my life=
I wanted
To BE like him


And have love for
EVERY human being
EASIER said than done


“I have set
You an EXAMPLE


That you should be
As I have done for you” John 13:15


“For I am not seeking
My own good
But the good of many
So that
They may be saved


Follow my EXAMPLE
As I follow
The EXAMPLE OF CHRIST” 1 Corinthians 10:33 and 11:1


Jesus loved the LITTLE CHILDREN=
He told us=we have
To be as as a CHILD
If we we want
To enter into HEAVEN


So be like Jesus=let
The CHILDREN know that
They are loved=TREAT them
That way


BE THE EXAMPLE of love
For the children
In your life


SHOW THEM LOVE=the way
God shows you love in your life=
And always PRAISE GOD

9-11-2001=is a DAY
That represents GREAT PAIN
And loss for us
And our COUNTRY


It is also a day of
Resilience=great FAITH
And great COURAGE


EVERY heartache that we face=
Every CHALLENGE in our
Personal life=reminds us
That our ULTIMATE nourishment
And ultimate hunger
COMES from GOD ALONE


“Blessed are you
Who are HUNGRY=
For you
Will be satisfied

Now weeping=

PLEASE know that whatever
CHALLENGE=you are facing
Is NOT random
No matter


No matter how big your heartache in life
No matter what
You are facing=
God has a PLAN
And a PURPOSE for you
