GREAT TYRE=Is no  more

 

CERTAIN JUDGMENT Against Tyre

Lines 1-2=ANNOUNCING the FALL of Tyre

11^th year=FIRST DAY of the month

 

NO MONTH=Given by Ezekiel=But maybe

14 MONTHS=After the siege of Jerusalem

 

Tyre was a GREAT and ancient city=Of the Phoenicians

ON the Mediterranean North Coast of Israel=MODEN day Lebanon

 

Tyre and sister city Sidon

(20 miles Morth od Tyre)=They were IMPORTANT  sea ports

For the region

 

God=PROMISED JUDGMENT against Tyre=Because Tyre

Said it would BENEFIT=from the fall of Jerusalem

 

-Tyre was HAPPY=at the FALL  of Jerusalem=Because Tyre thought it=

Was GOOD=for her trading business

 

-Tyre had NO spiritual sense of values(ONLY material and economic values)

 

LINES 3-6

THE DESTRUCTION=CAME TO TYRE

 

-God was AGAINST  TYRE=Because of her wicked and OPPORTUNISTIC ATTITUDES

Against Jerusalem and Judah

 

GOD would JUDGE Tyre=Because they were GUILTY of sin

Towards the people of HIS COVENANT=The Jews

 

TYRE  was FAMOUS for its DEFENSES=But GOD Promised

NATIONS   would come upon them=Like WAVES in the sea

 

They WOULD DESTROY=The walls of Tyre=and BRING

DOWN the walls and tower=They would be BARE=Like a ROCK

 

MANY villages and towns=ASSOCIATED with Tyre=Would be destroyed too

JUDGMENT would be COMPLETE

 

LINES 7-11

The DESTRUCTION to come=From Nebuchadnezzar’s army

FROM the North=came Nebuchadnezzar=KING OF BABYLON

 

-The  ABUNDANCE of horses=from the army=Would kick up dust

To COVER the city

The city would SHAKE=from the horses=the chariots=and the wagons

 

They will SLAY your people=with a sword

They ATTACKED for 13 years=and SUBJUGATED THE CITY

 

LINES 12-14

DESTRUCTION would come=From SUBSEQUENT WAVES of invaders

 

-MANY NATIONS and Invaders=Would continue to come

After Nebuchadnezzar=MANY ATTACKS would continue

Ie.   Alexander the GREAT=In 322 BC=brought great destruction

 

Alexander had great ENGINEERING and vision=He CONQUERED

The island part too=Which Nebuchadnezzar=Could not do 

 

THE WAVE of destruction to TYRE=was on

And continued to the Saracens in the 14^th century AD

 

LINES 15-18

DOWN to the end

 

-THE FALL=of the great city of Tyre=Would be a WARNING to

The other cities of=THE MEDITERRANEAN COAST

 

-The other cities=Of the Mediterranean=would TREMBLE WITH FEAR=

After the FALL=of the City of Tyre=They were afraid too

 

LINES 19-21

TYRE would be brought DOWN=to the end

-TAKING them down to =GOD’S ETERNAL JUDGMENT

 

Tyre=They would DWELL=In the lowest part=OF THE EARTH

 

And not just geographically=Tyre 1400  feet BELOW sea lever=But God

Was speaking of=The realm of death=Desolate and antiquity

 

The cities like Tyre falling=Does NOT defeat GOD’S PLAN

IT ADVANCES IT!

 

God is BRINGING GLORY=to the LAND of the LIVING

 

Defeat and DEVASTATION for Tyre=so much so=Tyre almost never found again

Archaeologists found it=WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY

Ie.   YOU will NEVER be found again
