Ezekiel is taken  TO JERUSALEM=IN A VISION

 

-The FINAL=GREAT VISION=of Ezekiel

(The 14^th Year=after  the FALL OF JERUSALEM)

 

-The BEGINNING of the year

(TENTH  day of the month)=?

Civil or religious calendar

 

EZEKIEL INSISTED=That HIS SOURCE=was God

For his VISION

 

-God set Ezekiel=on a mountain=and he

COULD SEE JERUSALEM

 

-The structure was=LIKE A CITY=An ancient city with gates

 

LINE 3

The MAN=with the MEASURING ROD

 

-Ezekiel’s GUIDE was=AN ANGEL FROM THE LORD

Ie.   BRONZE APPEARANCE

 

-He had 2 INSTRUMENTS for measure

Ie.   A rope or string=and a SOLID ROD

 

-the GUIDE=was WAITING FOR EZEKIEL

The man=With the measuring ROD=speaks to Ezekiel

-The man tells Ezekiel=to pay CLOSE ATTENTION

 

-His audience=for the VISION=was the HOUSE OF ISRAEL!

-A TOUR of the TEMPLE COMPLEX=With measurements and descriptions

Ie.   Diagrams are available

 

LINE 5=THE OUTER COURT=OF THE TEMPLE

Ie.   MEASUREMENTS done in cubits and rods

 

-The ANGEL BEING=did the measuring=and gave Ezekiel

The RESULTS

 

LINES 6-10

THE EASTERN GATEWAY=FACED EAST=and led to the

ENTRANCE OF THE GATE

 

The gate was a TOWER=with rooms=Known as gate chambers

 

LINES 11-16

THE ENTRANCE to the=EASTERN GATEWAY

 

-The entrance=was a BUILDING in itself

Ie.   SUBSTANTIAL size with rooms

 

THE GATEWAYS were some 100 feet high

 

-BEVILED wooden frames=Palm trees=on each  GATE POST

 

LINES 17-19

THE PAVEMENT of=THE OUTER COURT

 

2 LEVELS=at least to=THE OUTER COURT

LOTS OF SPACE=IN THE OUTER COURT

 

LINES 20-23

THE NORTHERN GATEWAY=had

THE SAME MEASUREMENTS=as the FIRST GATE

 

A LARGE  TEMPLE area in size

 

LINES 24-27

THE SOUTHERN GATEWAY

The same MEASURMENTS=as the other gates

 

NO WESTERN GATE-too close

To the WESTERN WALL

 

Again=there were PALM TREE=on the gate posts

 

LINES 28-37

INNER COURT=Of the new TEMPLE

THE GATEWAY=OF the inner court

 

=Was NO MENTION=of a SPECIFIC COURT

For women or Gentiles

 

-An archway all around=eight steps=to INNER COURT=and

8 steps to outer court=Again=PALM TREES on the gate posts

 

LINES 38-43

THE chamber for SACRIFICES

(Ie.   INNER COURT)

 

A TABLE for preparation and sacrifices

Ie.   BURNT OFFERINGS=Sin offerings=and Trespass offerings

 

=Ezekiel had a PRIESTLY BACKGROUND=So he was welcome=

Not an actual table=but one for sacrifices=Maybe animal sacrifices

 

SACRIFICES UNTHINKABLE=at the time of Jesus Christ

 

LINES 44-46

The chambers for SINGERS AND PRIESTS

 

-PRIESTS=or LEVITES=Not only=for the administration of sacrifices

But for music=worship=and PRAISE OF GOD

 

-There was also=GUIDES=for the TEMPLE

 

-There were also PRIESTS=who had charge of THE TEMPLE

Ie.   Zadok and SONS=THE CHIEF HIGH PRIESTS=Ezekiel not a high PRIEST

 

LINES 47-49

MEASURING THE INNER COURT=and its passage

 

=There was an ALTAR=for the sacrifices

 

There was a VESTIBULE=for the TEMPLE

Ie.    The measurements are meaningless

 

The pillars were like=In Solomon’s time

Ie. Jachin and Boaz=1 KINGS 7:2
