TRYING to get the LAST WORD

You might as well

Take your head

And bang it against the wall

It will have

THE SAME EFFECT

On that person

But one thing

We KNOW for sure

IS THAT GOD

ALWAYS has the last word

Because his WORDS are true

EVEN in life and death matters

In his 7th chapter

Saint Luke tells us the story

Of the WIDOW NAIN

Jesus-his disciples-and a LARGE CROWD

Were in a town called NAIN

As Jesus approached the town gate

A dead person

Was being carried out

THE ONLY SON

Of his mother

And she was a widow

And a large crowd

From the town Was with her

“WHEN the Lord

Saw her

HIS HEART went out to her

And he said,

'DON'T CRY'                                                           Luke 7:13

Then he went up

And touched the coffin

And said,

“YOUNG MAN-I say to you GET UP”                           Luke 7:14

And , of course, HE DID

DEATH was NOT

The last word

And it IS NOT

THE LAST WORD

In this world

Or the next

“THIS is what the Lord says

Israel's King and Redeemer

The, Lord Almighty,

  

        'I am the first

         And I am the LAST

         Apart from me

        Faith is defined as TOTAL trust and reliance on God

        Outside of Jesus—2000 years ago—the one with the

        Most faith was Mary Magdalene—often called the apostle

        To the apostles

 

        Mary Magdalene was the first one to the tomb.  Not knowing

        That the gardener was Jesus, she said,  “Sir, if you carried him

        Away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him”

 

        Jesus said, “Mary,” and at once she recognized him

 

        She then went to the disciples with these words:

 

        “I have seen the Lord”

 

People of faith put their HEART AND SOUL into everything that they do

 

 

 

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

NOTHING WILL EVER BE=THE SAME AGAIN!

They RACE to the tomb too!=and Jesus is NOT THERE!=Jesus is RISEN!=Nothing CAN

EVER BE=THE SAME AGAIN!=EVERYTHING is now NEW and fresh!=”We are WITNESSES

Of everything=He DID in the Country=of the Jews=and in Jerusalem=They killed  him=

BY HANGING him=on a cross=But God RAISED him=from the dead=On the THIRD day=and

CAUSED him=to be seen”                                                                                                              ACTS 10:39-40

 

MANY of our VIGIL services=Are repeated yearly=But JESUS’ RESURRECTION of=

LIFE over death=is NEW AND EVERY  year==For GOD’S LIGHT does indeed=does indeed Penetrate

The darkness=and MAKE  EVERYTHING NEW AGAIN!==and fresh!

“He put a NEW SONG=In my mouth=a hymn of praise to our God=Many will see=and fear the

Lord=and PUT their trust in him”                                                                                                           Psalm 40:3

“See I will create=NEW HEAVENS and a NEW earth=The former things=Will not be remembered=

“ I will give you=A NEW HEART=and put a NEW SPIRIT in you=I will remove from you=Your

AT THE EASTER VIGIL=We still see the PIERCING LIGHT=in the darkness=Of the night=Just the

SAME WAY=Jesus’ VICTORY of LIFE AND LOVE=Penetrate the world=We break out=INTO

Songs of Praise=The WORDS of=OUR LIVING GOD=Announce our redemption=Our BAPTISM

VOWS=are NEW once again=and we see THE RISEN LORD=In the BODY and blood of the

EUCHARIST!=Of Jesus Christ=The SPIRIT of GOD’S LOVE=is ALIVE in Jesus!=EVERYTHING is

BRAND NEW==Nothing will ever=BE THE SAME AGAIN!=LIGHT PIERCES THE DARKNESS=and we

ARE RENEWED!

“……..Who satisfies your desires=with good things=So that your youth=IS RENEWED=Like the

Eagle’s”                                                                                                                                                                      Psalm 103:5

“Therefore=we do NOT lose heart=Though outwardly we=Are wasting away=Yet inwardly we=

WE BECOME CHRISTIANS=Over and over and OVER again=NOT because we GET IT RIGHT=

The first time=Or even the second=But because THE RIVER AND TREE OF LIFE=Through Christ’s

RESURRECTION=and the LOVE of the Holy Father God=Require us=To bring LIFE and=

FRESHNESS=to ALL we touch=For after Jesus’ Resurrection=For the LOVE OF GOD=PIERCES the darkness in us=NOTHING  IS=EVER THE SAME AGAIN!

“Thes things happened=so that the SCRIPTURES=would be fulfilled=’NOT one   of his bones=

Will be broken’=and as ANOTHER Scripture says=’They will look on=THE ONE THEY

PIERCED’”                                                                                                                                                            John 19:36-37

Over the Cross!

 

On Good Friday=WE WITNESSED a horrible  crucifixion=But the EVER ENDURING LOVE=

Of the PERFECT=Son  of God=PREVAILS through the AGONY of the Cross

We WITNESSED=The TRIUMPH of Jesus=THE TRIUMPH of LOVE=On the cross=

“CARRYING his own cross=He went out=To the place of the skull=(Which in Aramaic is

Called Golgotha)=There they CRUCIFIED him=with two others=--------On each side  and=

Jesus in the middle”                                                                                                                                        John 19:17-18

 

And as Jesus was dying=JESUS STILL LOVED=Jesus still PRAYED to his Holy Father God=

He Entrusted the CARE of his Mother=To his disciple John=HE FORGAVE his executioners=and

HE PROMISED eternal life=To the GOOD THIEF=Talk about=THE TRIUMPH OF  LOVE=On

The Cross=and THE BEST=Was still yet to come=IN THE RESURRECTION=THE ULTIMATE TRIUMPH=

THE ULTIMATE VICTORY!

“Your gates=Will always stand open=They will never be shut=Day or night=So that people may

BRING you=The wealth of the nations=--------Their kings led in

TRIUMPHAL PROCESSION”                                                                                                              Isaiah 60:11

“But thanks be to God=Who always leads us as captives=IN CHRIST’S TRIUMPHAL PROCESSION=

And uses us to=Spread the aroma=Of the knowledge of him everywhere”         2 Corinthians 2:14

“And having disarmed=The powers=and authorities=He made a public spectacle of them=

TRIUMPHING over them by the CROSS”                                                                                   Colossians 2:15

 

These are THE TRIUMPHS=We celebrate=Particularly the VICTORY of LIFE over death=Of

LOVE over hate=and the VICTORY Paul tells us about in 1 Corinthians 13:7=”LOVE always protects=

Always trusts=Always hopes=Always perseveres=and LOVE NEVER FAILS”=Jesus and the Holy

Father=GOD OF LOVE=have never failed=and their LIFE and LOVE is in us=to this very day!=

This is=THE TRIUMPH OF LOVE!=This is the TRIUMPH of life=This is the SON’S VICTORY=

Of LOVE TRIUMPHING Over the cross!

“With God=we will GAIN in the VICTORY=and he will trample down our enemies”            Psalm 60:12

“DEATH has been swallowed up in VICTORY=’Where O death is your VICTORY?’=Where O

Death is your sting?’”                                                                                                                           1 Corinthians 15:54

“But thanks be to God=He gives us=THE VICTORY=

We CANNOT BUILD a=Successful life=Without Christ in it=We cannot OVERCOME OUR CROSSES=

Without BUILDING our lives=With Jesus at the top of it=Can we LIVE like Jesus?=and continue

TO LOVE=When our Crosses our bearing down on us?=Can we=KEEP HOLDING ON=and=TRIUMPH

When it is our time of THE CROSS?=If we can=If we do=OUR VICTORY IS=In them=”And his

Commands=are not burdensome=+For everyone Born of God=OVERCOMES the world=This

Is the VICTORY=That has overcome the world=Even our faith=ONLY the one who believes=That

Jesus is THE SON OF GOD”                                                                                                                      1 John 5:4

 

Dear Lord Jesus=WE PRAY=That we EMULATE YOU=For the LOVE you had on=THE CROSS=For in

WHAT IS THIS THING CALLED THE CROSS?

HAPPY EASTER!

 

 

In Jesus’ day

The cross was the means

Of capitol punishment

Much like

The electric chair

Or lethal injection

Is today

 

In today’s times

It is anything and everything

That separates us from God

 

And just as Jesus had to physically

Carry his wooden cross

As a condemned person

Wrongfully sentenced to death

 

We have to carry our crosses

Rightfully or wrongfully through life

 

And the best way

To carry our crosses in life

Is by uniting our suffering with Jesus

 

Jesus said

 

“If anyone would

Come after me

He must deny himself

And take up his cross

And follow me

 

For whoever

Wants to save his life

Will lose it

And whoever loses his life

For me

And my Gospel

Will save it”                                                                                               Mark 8:34-35

 

Jesus’ wooden cross

Was heavy

It led to his physical death

 

But because he was an innocent man

AND GOD’S SON

God raised him from the dead

 

Our crosses in life

Are heavy too

 

OUR CROSSES of physical illness

OUR CROSSES of financial obligations

OUR CROSSES of broken physical relationships

And our crosses

Of physical addictions

Our own temptations

And our own sin

 

But by

UNITING our crosses with Christ’s

They can become

Just a little lighter

A little easier to carry

 

“Come to me

ALL you who are weary

And burdened

And I will give you rest

 

Take my yoke upon you

And learn from me

For I am gentle

And humble in heart

And you will find rest

For your souls

 

For my yoke is easy

And my burden is light”                                                              Matthew 11:28-30

 

Make no mistake

OUR CROSSES in this life

ARE HEAVY

 

But by uniting

OUR LIVES with Christ

The burden is lighter

 

And like Christ

Who rose from the dead

We can RISE ABOVE our crosses

In this life

 

To live a FAITH-FILLED life

IN GOD AND IN CHRIST

 

By uniting our crosses

To Christ

We can rise above our crosses

In life-and live

 

                                 RESURRECTED LIVES

LISTENING=REMEMBERING=and LOVING US ALWAYS!

 

 

 

 

 

 

LISTENING=REMEMBERING=and LOVING=

US ALWAYS!

 

ALL people=Will let us down=IN LIFE=at one time or another=OUR SIGNIFICANT

Other=Our parents=Children=BFF’S=and neighbors=They might NOT want to=and

They WON’T=IF they can help it=But all of life=Is NOT in our control=STUFF happens

In life=and Jesus KNEW that=Most of all=and YET=He gave up=HIS life for us=HIS LOVE=

For all of us=OUR GOD OF LOVE=will NEVER let us down=”See the Lord=IS MY HELP=

Who will PROVE me wrong?”                                                                                                           Isaiah 50-9A

 

We have CONFIDENCE=I have confidence=That the LORD our God=ALWAYS LISTENS=

ALWAYS REMEMBERS=and is ALWAYS LOVING towards us=MY LIFE=is living TESTIMONY

To that=and so is YOURS=THE ALMIGHTY GOD of Love=Hears our cries=The ones we=

SCREAM OUT LOUD=and the ONES we whisper INTO HIS EAR=He=Our God of LOVE=

Is ALWAYS LISTENING=ALWAYS REMEMBERING=and LOVING us=at ALL TIMES=”Now

Choose life=So that you and Your children=May live=and that you=May love=THE LORD

Your God=LISTEN to his voice=and hold fast to him”                                                       Deuteronomy 30:20

“The way of fools seem right=to them=But the wise=LISTEN TO ADVICE”          Proverbs 12:15

“MY SHEEP LISTEN=to my voice=I know them=and they follow me”                     John 10:27

 

God always=GIVES US ANSWERS=to our prayers=It may NOT be the answer we want=At the time=

But it is the RIGHT ONE=according to GOD’S TIMING right now=and he REMEMBERS US=down

The line=When we need something else=

“REMEMBER the wonders=He has done=His miracles and the judgments=

He pronounced”                                                                                                                         1 Chronicles 16:12

“ALL they asked=Was that we should continue=TO REMEMBER the poor=The very thing I=

Had been eager to do all alone”                                                                                          Galatians 2:10

“I thank my God=Every time  I REMEMBER YOU=In all my prayer=for all of you=I always PRAY

As we approach=THE HOLIEST DAY=of the CHURCH YEAR=Let us OFFER PRAISE to=

THE ONE TRUE God of Love=who NEVER forsakes or abandons us=and who ALWAYS helps

Us=with a LOVING HEART=For that is=Who he is

“The Lord=Appeared to us=In the past saying’=’I have loved you=WITH AN EVERLASTING  LOVE=

I have drawn you with=Unfailing kindness’”                                                                                 Jeremiah 31:3

“He has shown you=O mortal=What is good=and what does the  Lord=Require of you?=

To act justly=and to LOVE mercy=and to walk humbly=with Your God”                       Micah 6:8

“A new command=I give you=LOVE ONE ANOTHER=As I have loved you=so you must=LOVE

Dear Lord=as we PROCEED this Holy week=Please help us=To remember=That you ALWAYS

LISTEN to our prayers=That you ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR PRAYERS=and that you ALWAYS=

Respond to us=IN LOVING KINDNESS=According to what is=BEST FOR US-and our

Circumstances=This week=This Holy week=We KNOW more than ever=That you are OUR EVER LASTING LOVE and solace!

 

In Jesus’ name=and IN the name of our Holy Father God=who BOTH LOVE US for

ALL OF ETERNITY!

Healed by God

TAKE A LOOK

 

 

 

 

 

TAKE A LOOK

 

Take a look

Take a good long look

 

There’s a man

Out there on the hill

With something wooden on his back

Walking, struggling

Trying to move along

 

He was

Made to do this

By a man

By the name of Pilate

Because he fell out of favor

With the people

Of his day

 

But he picked up the cross

Willingly

And moved along

The best that he could

 

He fell once, he fell a second,

 Even fell a third time

But he kept getting back up

The people all knew

That it was wrong

 

Take a look

At this man

Take a very long look

 

The people of his day

Did not want

To confront their sins

The same as me and you today

 

They kept---we keep

Living out of coldness

Living out of ingratitude

Living out of selfishness

Denying the love of God

And the needs of one another

 

Denying their very existence

 

Along his way

This man

On his walk with the cross

Met his Mother

He wept for the women of Jerusalem

And the people of his day

 

Take a look

Take a very long good look

 

He knew

That these sins

Had to be confronted

He knew

That these sins

Had to be carried

That they had to be put away

 

Keep looking

See that cross

The cross that he carried for you and for me

 

See that man

That mangled tortured man

That perfect man of love

That perfect man of compassion

 

The greatest love, he once said,

“Is to lay down one’s life

For his friends”

 

He is stripped

Take a look

 

He is crucified

Take a very long look

 

He dies and is put in the tomb

Keep on looking

 

He brought us life

He brought us hope

He brought us love
