HOW MUCH COURAGE HAVE YOU GOT

MAY 17th, 2012

HOW MUCH COURAGE

HAVE YOU GOT

How much courage have you got

How hard have worked

How long have you fought

To get to this place in your life

Which you have always sought

Had to get to this place

In order to get to the next stage

I remember-planning it all so well

In my idle thoughts

Now again

When all looks lost

I get this urge-to throw in the towel

Even if-it’s only for awhile

But somehow-I have to remain strong

Even when my life

Is turning out all wrong

How much courage have you got

Do you remember how hard that you fought

Can you rise to the occasion again

To fight a battle-you know you can’t win

But maybe just holding your own-is a win

Can you rise to the occasion again

Remember how hard that you fought

Do you want to throw in the towel

How much courage have you got

It comes from inside-but I can’t say where

I want to quit

But I searched all through me-and there is NO QUIT in there

And somehow-I continue to care

I fight through the hopelessness and fear

And with the future-looking so very bleak

And feeling like I have been thrown

To the snakes in the pit

I do things-others would never dare

How much courage have you got

How hard have you worked

How long have you fought

Do you want to throw in the towel

If you do-then do it now

You got the towel in your hand

But the hand is not moving anywhere

Because you can’t

You’ve been in too many tight spots

The things that you have learned

And the things that you have taught

To let it all go for not

How much courage have you got

How long have you worked

How hard have you fought

To get to this place in your life

Which you have always sought

Had to get to this place

In order to get to the next stage

Can you rise to the occasion again

To fight a battle that you know-YOU CAN’T WIN

But holding on is a win

And as long as you got life

You will find the COURAGE

To do it again and again

Ps       “The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said,

“TAKE COURAGE!  As you have testified in Jerusalem

So you must also testify in Rome                                     Acts 23:11

“Be on your guard-stand firm in the faith

            Be men of COURAGE

DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE”                                    1 Corinthians 16-13

LIVING IN THE SPIRIT!

JOURNAL=4-13-15=LIVING IN THE SPIRIT

“And NOW-Lord-take note of their threats-and enable your SERVANTS-to speak to your WORD-with ALL BOLDNESS........”    Acts 4:29

We live in a dangerous world-a world with terrorist threats that seem to be becoming MORE DANGEROUS every day-a world with crime on our streets-in every city in America-and it has never been more dangerous-sometimes-it seems we are NOT even safe living in our own homes

Yet the message of EASTER still resounds in us/and in me/choose GOD-choose life-we NEVER have to be ashamed of God or Christ

WHERE we are in life-is the SUM OF ALL the choices that we have made-and I am PROUD of the choices that I have made/and I am happy to be a GOD and CHRIST follower-doing my best to LIVE what Jesus has taught us=love-forgive-and BE KIND

LIVE in the SPIRIT of God-

Walk in the spirit of Christ

DON'T live in the gray area-but LIVE BOLDLY in the spirit of love

IT IS a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE For us

LIVING IN GOD

Do you ever feel

Like that

You have died

To this world

That you are no longer

Carrying yourself

BUT that it is God and Christ

Who are carrying you

I often have

SINCE my deathbed experience

At age 22

“I have been

CRUCIFIED with Christ

And I no longer live

But Christ LIVES in me

The life I live

In the body

I LIVE BY FAITH

In the SON OF GOD

Who loves me

And gave himself for me”                                            Galatians 2:20

I COMPLETELY

Identify with Saint Paul

Left to my own devices

And my own strength

I don't feel like

I could take another step

IT IS GOD

It is Christ

Who are

Completely carrying me

Saint Paul

Is the EPITOME

Of what it means

To be a CHRISTIAN

He is REAL

He is HONEST

He has a firm sense

Of his own gifts

SOMETIMES he is boastful

And yet he is

Also HUMBLE

AND AWARE of his own weaknesses

“I DO NOT UNDERSTAND

What I do

For what

I want to do

I do not do

BUT what I hate

I do”                                                                        Romans 7:15

MAYBE we are

A lot more like Paul

Than we care

To admit

OUR INTENTIONS

Are good

WE WANT to do good

For others

But for whatever reason

Sometimes we are UNABLE

To carry it out

But Paul CHOSE GOD

Over sin

Are we able

To do the same

For if we can do that

We are truly LIVING IN GOD

As Paul was

And in Philippians

Paul writes:

“I am caught

BETWEEN the two

I long to DEPART

This life

And be with Christ

For that

Is far better

Yet I am REMAINING

In the flesh

It is more necessary

For your BENEFIT”                                                      Philippians 1:23-24

I empathize with Paul

In this area too

I WISH

I could leave this world

And LIVE FOREVER in Christ

But God wants me

IN this world

For whatever reason

And I will

GIVE my testimony of God-

MY TESTIMONY OF GOD'S LOVE for them-

To whoever WILL LISTEN

Dear Lord

I am LIVING on

Your coattails

You are

THE LOVE of my life

And I am

LIVING IN GOD

I am sending loving thoughts

To you

I am sending kind thoughts

To you

Even if you don’t need them

I am sending

Forgiving thoughts

To you

Loving thoughts

I am sending to you

Kind thoughts

I am sending to you

Forgiving thoughts

I am sending to you

Loving thoughts

Ps        “The Lord knows the thoughts of man

He knows that they are futile”                                Psalm 94:11

            “For the word of God

             Is living and active

             Sharper than any double-edged sword

It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit

             Joints and marrow

It judges the THOUGHTS and attitudes

             Of the HEART

             Nothing in all creation

             Is hidden from God’s sight

EVERYTHING is uncovered and laid bare

             Before the eyes of him

To whom we must give account”                             Hebrews4:12

IN CHALLENGING TIMES=WHERE IS OUR GOD?

IN CHALLENGING TIMES=WHERE IS

OUR GOD?

THE NEWS =These days=is VERY CHALLENGING=We have the POLITICAL DIVIDE=

We have a WAR=We have the DOMESTIC and=THE GUN VIOLENCE=In our Country=

And all KINDS of=other TERRIBLE THINGS=We all May wonder=WHERE is OUR GOD=

In all of this?=WHY is all of this happening?=HOW can people=BE so mean and hateful=

To one another?=WHERE is our God=IN THESE CHALLENGING TIMES?=”They will Do=

Such things=Because they have NOT KNOWN=The Father  or me”                            John 16:3

There you have=JESUS’ DIRECT ANSWER to us=”THEY DO NOT KNOW ME”=For if

We did know=THE GOD OF LOVE= and HIS SON=We could NOT act this way!

But we can=STILL FIND GOD=Even in the bad news=In these CHALLENGING TIMES=In

The world=In this life=JUST LOOK FOR THE HELPERS!=Look for those=Who LOVE GOD=

Above all else=and those who LOVE THEIR NEIGHBOR=as themselves=They are GOD FOLLOWERS!=They are JESUS’ and GOD’S HELPERS=”The Lord God said’=’It is not good=

For the man= to be alone=I will MAKE A HELPER=suitable for him’”                                    Genesis 2:18

“But you God=see the trouble of=The afflicted=You consider their grief=and take it in hand=

The victims=Commit themselves to you=You are THE HELPER=of the Fatherless”      Psalm 10:14

“So we say with confidence’=’The Lord is MY HELPER=I will not be afraid=What can mere

Mortals do to me?’”                                                                                                                                Hebrews 13:6

That is HOW and WHEN=we find God=In the CHALLENGING TIMES=We find God=WE FIND

LOVE=In those TRYING to make things better=In their LITTLE CORNER=of the world=Those

LENDIN a HELPING HAND and comforting thoughts of LOVE=to those suffering=We may

NOT be able to CHANGE THE WORLD=But we can make it BETTER=For someone through LOVE=

BE A HELPER!=Lend a helping hand of love

“In Joppa=There was a disciple named Tabitha(IN Greek her name is Dorcas)=She was always doing

GOOD=and HELPING the poor”                                                                                                                           Acts 9:36

“And God has placed=In the church=First of all apostles=Second prophets=Third teachers=

Then miracles=Then gifts of healing=OF HELPING=of guidance=and

Of different kinds of tongues”                                                                                                          1 Corinthians 12:28

“A widow=Is well known=for her good deeds=Such as bringing up children=Showing hospitality=

Washing the feet of=The Lord’s people=HELPING those in trouble=and devoting herself to=

ALL kinds of good deeds”                                                                                                                     1 Timothy 5:10

WE are COMING UP=On the feast of THE ASCENSION=The Spirit of God=LIVES in you=and

In me=That is WHERE GOD IS=Make a difference of LOVE=for someone else=Be a

HELPER OF GOD!=Of love=IN your own CORNER of the world!

In Jesus’ name=and in THE NAME=Of our ever loving=ever LIVING=EVER HELPING=Our Holy

Father God!

LIVING THE AUTHENTIC LIFE

LIVING THE AUTHENTIC LIFE

Do you live

An authentic life

By that I mean

Are your words-actions-

And prayers along the same lines

Or are you hypocritical

Like so many of us are  today

Authentic means

“To be real or genuine”

(NOT copied or false)

By my account

Jesus Christ

Was the most authentic man

Who ever lived

He was

BORN in the spirit

He lived and died

In the spirit

And WHEN he

Left this world

He left his SPIRIT OF LOVE behind

For all of us

His spirit of love

His spirit of forgiveness

And his spirit of kindness

“Jesus journeyed

From one town and village

To another

Preaching and proclaiming

The GOOD NEWS

Of the KINGDOM of God”                                                    Luke 8:1

For a Christian follower

A life only makes sense

If it is in

The footsteps of Jesus

LIVING love and kindness

Acting love and forgiveness

And praying for others

And wishing them LOVE AND HAPPINESS

And forgiving them

IF they have offended you

In some way

WITH Jesus-there is

Not only purpose

But meaning and direction

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE-unlimited compassion-

And living with real hope and true peace

And if you are living these things

You are living an AUTHENTIC LIFE

Just like Jesus

“The REALITY-however-

Is found in Christ”                                                                        Colossians 2:17

“For my flesh is REAL food

And my blood is real drink

Whoever eats my flesh

And drinks my blood

REMAINS in me

And I in them”                                                                           John 6:55-56

With Jesus

We have the LOVE

Of God

Present and available to us

Jesus guides us

Through life

Jesus shows us

How to live

He teaches us

HOW to serve one another

And he gives us

THE GREAT COMMISSION

To follow him

And SPREAD the Word

Of God

To anyone and everyone

Who is ready to hear it

“Then Jesus came to them

And said,

'ALL authority in heaven

And on earth

Has been given to me

THEREFORE

Go and make disciples

Of all nations

Baptizing them

In the name of the Father

And of the Son

And of the Holy SPIRIT

And teaching them

To obey everything

I have commanded you

And SURELY

I am with you ALWAYS

To the very end

Of the age'”                                                                         Matthew 28:18-20

I can think of

NO greater life

Than DISCIPLESHIP to Jesus

And being his companion

And FRIEND

As we travel

Through life

For this is

The way to

LIVING AN AUTHENTIC LIFE

FOLLOWING the ONE TRUE/

And most authentic life

That ever lived=IN JESUS CHRIST

THE SECRET TO RADIANT LIVING

MAY 15th, 2012

THE SECRET TO RADIANT LIVING

The great German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche

Once said,

To a group of Christians,

“I thought you were redeemed

You don’t look alive

Most of you look half dead”

Jesus said,

“I am the vine

You are the branches”

And in the XVth chapter

Of Saint Matthew’s Gospel

He says,

“If anyone

Wants to come after me

He must deny himself

And take up his cross

And follow me”

Are you serious Lord

What do you mean

I think

Jesus is telling us

That our cross

Is anything

That separates us

From God and him

Anything we are putting

Above God and Jesus

I think

Jesus is telling us

That there

Can be no co-existence

Between God

And our selfish sinful nature

I think Jesus

Is trying to teach us

To do things

His way

To live

Out of love

And out of compassion

And that

If we do this

We will leave

The world a better place

Than the world we found

And so Lord we pray

I am weak

But you are strong

Please teach us

To live radiantly

Through you

Please take over

And shine through us

And in us

In ways

That we will never know

And we pray Jesus

That you

Be given all the glory

Amen

Robert P. Wallman

9-2-10

Ps        Inspired by the teaching of Father Leo Clifford

The cross is the means by which Jesus died and is used as a metaphor

For self-sacrifice

“For the message of the cross is foolishness

To those who are perishing

But to us who are being saved

It is the Power of God

For it is written:

“I will destroy

The wisdom of the wise

The intelligence of the intelligent

I will frustrate”

Where is the wise man?

Where is the scholar?

Where is the philosopher of this age?

Has not God

Made foolish

The wisdom of the world?”                                   1 Corinthians:18 thru 20
