LIVING THE AUTHENTIC LIFE

Do you live 

An authentic life

By that I mean

Are your words-actions-

And prayers along the same lines

Or are you hypocritical

Like so many of us are  today

Authentic means

“To be real or genuine”

(NOT copied or false)

By my account

Jesus Christ

Was the most authentic man

Who ever lived

He was

BORN in the spirit

He lived and died

In the spirit

And WHEN he

Left this world

He left his SPIRIT OF LOVE behind

For all of us

His spirit of love

His spirit of forgiveness

And his spirit of kindness

“Jesus journeyed

From one town and village

To another

Preaching and proclaiming

The GOOD NEWS

Of the KINGDOM of God”                                                    Luke 8:1

For a Christian follower

A life only makes sense

If it is in

The footsteps of Jesus

LIVING love and kindness

Acting love and forgiveness

And praying for others

And wishing them LOVE AND HAPPINESS

And forgiving them

IF they have offended you

In some way

WITH Jesus-there is

Not only purpose

But meaning and direction

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE-unlimited compassion-

And living with real hope and true peace

And if you are living these things

You are living an AUTHENTIC LIFE

Just like Jesus 

“The REALITY-however-

Is found in Christ”                                                                        Colossians 2:17

“For my flesh is REAL food

And my blood is real drink

Whoever eats my flesh

And drinks my blood

REMAINS in me

And I in them”                                                                           John 6:55-56

With Jesus 

We have the LOVE 

Of God

Present and available to us

Jesus guides us

Through life

Jesus shows us

How to live

He teaches us

HOW to serve one another

And he gives us 

THE GREAT COMMISSION

To follow him

And SPREAD the Word 

Of God

To anyone and everyone

Who is ready to hear it

“Then Jesus came to them

And said,

'ALL authority in heaven

And on earth

Has been given to me

THEREFORE

Go and make disciples

Of all nations

Baptizing them

In the name of the Father

And of the Son

And of the Holy SPIRIT

And teaching them

To obey everything

I have commanded you

And SURELY

I am with you ALWAYS

To the very end

Of the age'”                                                                         Matthew 28:18-20

I can think of

NO greater life

Than DISCIPLESHIP to Jesus 

And being his companion

And FRIEND

As we travel

Through life

For this is 

The way to 

LIVING AN AUTHENTIC LIFE

FOLLOWING the ONE TRUE/

And most authentic life

That ever lived=IN JESUS CHRIST

THE SECRET TO RADIANT LIVING

 

 

The great German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche

Once said,

To a group of Christians,

“I thought you were redeemed

You don’t look alive

Most of you look half dead”

 

Jesus said,

“I am the vine

You are the branches”

 

And in the XVth chapter

Of Saint Matthew’s Gospel

He says,

“If anyone

Wants to come after me

He must deny himself

And take up his cross

And follow me”

 

Are you serious Lord

What do you mean

 

I think

Jesus is telling us

That our cross

Is anything

That separates us

From God and him

Anything we are putting

Above God and Jesus

 

I think

Jesus is telling us

That there

Can be no co-existence

Between God

And our selfish sinful nature

 

I think Jesus

Is trying to teach us

To do things

His way

To live

Out of love

And out of compassion

 

And that

If we do this

We will leave

The world a better place

Than the world we found

 

And so Lord we pray

I am weak

But you are strong

Please teach us

To live radiantly

Through you

 

Please take over

And shine through us

And in us

In ways

That we will never know

 

And we pray Jesus

That you

Be given all the glory

Amen

The cross is the means by which Jesus died and is used as a metaphor

For self-sacrifice

 

“For the message of the cross is foolishness

To those who are perishing

But to us who are being saved

It is the Power of God

The intelligence of the intelligent

I will frustrate”

 

Where is the wise man?

Where is the scholar?

Where is the philosopher of this age?

 

Has not God

Made foolish

THE CHOOSING OF MATTHIAS

 

 

Judas is the one failure

That we know of-for sure

 

And NOT because

God gave up on him

God NEVER does that

But because he gave up on himself

 

DESPAIRED

 

And our God-our Lord

Picked a man to replace him

 

“Therefore it is necessary

To choose one of the men

Who have been with us

The whole time

The Lord Jesus went in and out among us

 

Beginning from John’s baptism

To the time

When Jesus was taken up from us

 

For one of these

Must become a witness

With us

Of his resurrection”                                                         Acts 1:21 & 22

 

They cast lots

And Matthias was chosen

 

Like the other Apostles

Matthias received

The gift of the HOLY SPIRIT

At Pentecost

 

It is believed

That he preached

First in Judea

And later near the Caspian sea

Possibly in Ethiopia

 

His relics

Were moved to Rome

In the 11^th century

 

Dear Lord we pray

That as your true followers

Become less and less in today’s world

And with the coming of Pentecost yet again

 

We pray that we have the courage

To STEP FORWARD like Saint Matthias

And that your spirit

 

THE SPIRIT OF FIRE

THE SPIRIT OF LIFE

THE SPIRIT OF GOD

 

LIVES in us

THE LORD OF LOVE=OUR GOD=CHOOSES YOU!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE LORD  OF LOVE=OUR GOD=

CHOOSES YOU!

 

At the LAST SUPPER=Jesus said something ASTONISHING to his apostles and to

HIS DISCIPLES=For he KNEW=that HIS FATHER=and His OWN RESURRECTION=Would

TRIUMPH=Over this thing called death=and he tells them=They are CHOSEN=as we are

Chosen=My dear sisters and brothers in Christ=”IF you belonged to=the world=It

Would love you as its own=As it is=You do NOT BELONG to the world=But I have=

CHOSEN YOU=Out of the world=That is WHY the world=Hates you”                 John 15:19

And The GOD OF LOVE=Jesus Christ and his Father=CHOOSES YOU!

 

And WHEN=Jesus and His Father CHOOSE YOU=Everything becomes changed=It CHANGED

For Paul=When the LIGHT OF JESUS=Knocked him=OFF of his  horse=and TURNED HIM into=

A Christ FOLLOWER=and it CHANGED  for the other apostles and disciples too=They were

CHANGED into FOLLOWERS of Christ and=Into CHILDREN OF GOD=The LORD OF LOVE=

Our God=CHOOSES YOU TOO!

“This day=I will call the heavens=and the earth=AS WITNESSES=Against you=That I have

Set before you=LIFE and death=Blessings and curses=NOW CHOOSE LIFE=So that you and

Your children=May LIVE=and that you=May LOVE the Lord your God……..”     Deuteronomy 30:19-20

“But if=Serving the Lord=Seems undesirable to you=Then CHOOSE for yourselves=This day=

Whom you will serve=……..”                                                                                                      Joshua 24:15

“You did NOT CHOOSE ME=BUT I CHOSE YOU=and appointed you=So that you might go=

And bear fruit=-------FRUIT that will last=--------=and so WHATEVER you ask in my name=The

FATHER will give you=This is my command=LOVE each other”                                                        John 15:16

 

And so=NY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS=Wherever you are=In your life=THANK the Son and

THE FATHER=For choosing you=Thank them=FOR being with YOU=In the good times==The NOT

So good times=and for EVERY single day=Of your life=THANK you to the Lord=FOR CHOOSING US!

“WHEN they finished=James spoke up’=’BROTHERS’-he said-‘Listen to me=Simon has described

“BUT GOD CHOSE=the foolish things=Of the world=to shame the wise=God CHOSE the weak=

Things of the world=To shame the strong”                                                                                   1 Corinthians 1:27

I am SURE=Most of you=Have SEEN the television show=or the  movie called=”THE CHOSEN”=

Jesus Christ=CHOSE the strangest band=OF MISFITS=to BE his 12 apostles and disciples=

But they HAD GOOD HEARTS=and they BELIEVED IN HIM==IN the same way=YOU and I=

Believe in=THE LORD GOD OF LOVE=and Jesus Christ=”For he CHOSE US=In him=Before the

Creation of the world=To be holy and blameless=In his sight”                                                   Ephesians 1:4

“But you are a=CHOSEN PEOPLE=a royal priesthood=a holy nation=GOD’S special possession=

That you may declare the praises=+Of him=who called you=OUT of  darkness=Into

His wonderful light”                                                                                                                                    1  Paeter 2:9

 

And so my SISTERS AND BROTHERS=on your NOT so good days=Remember you are a

CHILD OF GOD=CHOSEN by the=GOD OF LOVE and Light=to bear Fruit=fruit that will last

THE GOD OF LOVE=CHOOSES YOU!

The most satisfying feeling

In this world

Is to

Help another human being

 

Because

It is

Not what happens to them

It is

What happens to us

We are

Transformed on the inside

 

Come to me

All you

Who are weary and heavy burdened

And I will give you rest

 

Help another human being

Help another soul

We are

Not in this alone

We are

A community of all

 

Take my yoke upon you

For my yoke is easy

And

My burden is light

 

The most satisfying feeling

In this world

Is to

Help another human being

 

For I am meek

And humble of heart

Is your

Relationship with God

Built on ideology

Or is it built on true love

A true love

Of God and others

 

I don’t care

What religion you are

Catholic or Christian

Muslim or Jew

 

If your relationship

With God

Is not built on a truly personal level

I suggest you go back

To square one

And start anew

 

Are you sharing every aspect

Of your life

With him

 

“I am the vine

You are the branches”

 

The good and the bad

That deepest darkest level

Of your soul

 

“Remain in me

And I will

Remain in you’

 

If you remain in the Lord

You are one of his branches

And he will NEVER be

Ashamed of you

He will call you FRIEND

 

The thing is

Faith is NOT about ideology

Faith is NOT

About your beliefs

 

Faith is having

A deep deep personal relationship

With Christ and God

On every level

 

“I have called you friend

For everything

That I have learned from my Father

I have made known to you”

 

“You did not choose me

I chose you

Go and bear fruit

Fruit---that will last”

 

“Today”---my son---my daughter

The Lord says,

“I CALL YOU FRIEND”
