GOODBYES AND PEACE

 

 

Goodbyes are difficult

Goodbyes always

Cause someone pain

 

Goodbyes occur

For many reasons

A move, a death, a broken relationship

 

But as Jesus

Was leaving this world

Jesus said

I leave my peace

With you

 

It is the kind of peace

That is

Not the peace from this world

But a peace

In spite of this world

 

A peace that says

In every situation

I am with you

To trust God

And know

God will bring you safely home

 

God’s peace

Is a victory

Over the darkness of sin

In this world

 

It is a victory over

The coldness, the indifference, the selfishness

The ingratitude, the luke warmness

And rejection of this world

 

So please know

That whatever you are facing

In this world

 

And if you

Are facing

A goodbye for any reason

I wish you peace

 

GOD’S PEACE

A REAFFIRMATION=OF A PROMISE=CONTINUING WITH LIFE AND HOPE

 

 

 

 

 

 

A reaffirmation=OF A PROMISE-LIFE AND HOPE=

CONTINUES=In the Holy Father and Jesus

(First POEM=AFTER THE HOSPITALIZATION)

 

MANY of you=KNOW about my promise=I made on my deathbed in 1977=

WHEN I had gangrene=peritonitis=septicemia=13 blood transfusions=and

A temperature of 108 degrees=”TO LIVE=for my family=my friends=and ALL PEOPLE

EVERYWHERE”

 

Today=about two weeks=after my latest surgery=and hospitalization=and a CRITICAL SITUATION=

I humbly=REAFFIRM THAT PROMISE=To the Holy Father God=and his Son Jesus=A REMINDER

To myself=and to ALL OF US=”TO LIVE LOVING GOD FIRST=and to live=LOVING ALL OTHERS”

“I will MAINTAIN my love to him FOREVER=MY COVENANT with him=

Will NEVER FAIL”                                                                                                                                                  Psalm 89:28

My dear BROTHERS AND sisters=This life is NOT getting any easier for me=To keep and

MAINTAIN THAT PROMISE=In fact=It is getting harder=For my chronic pain and nausea has=

NOT gone away=With surgery=But I will CARRY THIS PROMISE=for as long as I MAY LIVE=with

THE LOVE=The HOLY FATHER has given me=I WILL CARRY it with Courage and with HOPE=for

Myself and all others!

 

“The Lord=has kept=THE PROMISE HE MADE”                                                                              1 Kings 8:20

“THE PROMISE=is for you=and your children=and for all=Who are far off=--------For all=

Whom the LORD our God will call”                                                                                                       Acts 2:39

“He redeemed us=In order=That the BLESSING given to Abraham=Might come to the GENTILES=

Through Christ Jesus=So that by FAITH=we might RECEIVE THE PROMISE=

Of the Holy Spirit”                                                                                                                                           Galatians 3:14

And so my SISTERS and brothers=MY REQUEST to you all=IS that you keep=PRAYING FOR ME=

That I can KEEP RENEWING MY PROMISE=and that I can=KEEP living the life=OF GOD’S LOVE=and

Jesus’ love=WITH COURAGE AND HOPE!

“BE strong and COURAGEOUS=Do not be afraid or terrified=Because of them=For the Lord=

Goes with you=+He will never leave you=Nor forsake you”                                               Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be on your guard=Stand firm=In the FAITH=Be COURAGEOUS=Be strong=DO EVERYTHING

IN LOVE”                                                                                                                                                 1    Corinthians 16:13

 

That is right MY DEAR FRIENDS=The Holy Father God LOVES YOU!=and so does his Son

Jesus=I LOVE YOU ALL TOO!=God’s love=YOUR ALL’S LOVE=CARRIES ME=It is what enables me=

TO KEEP ON GOING=SO let us NOT QUIT on one another=Let us not give up=LET US LIVE=

For God and LOVE=and for each other=WITH HOPE=for as long as we can!

“You are my PORTION Lord=I have PROMISED to obey your words”                                      Psalm 119:57

“Let us hold unswervingly=TO THE HOPE=we profess=For he WHO PROMISED=

Is faithful”                                                                                                                                                        Hebrews 10:23

 

And so my SISTERS AND BROTHERS=Take the oath and THE PROMISE=along with me=For today

And tomorrow=GOD PROMISES LIFE-He gives us life and love=to LOVE HIM=and to love all others

For he is THE GOD OF LIFE=the God OF HOPE!

You say you want to be great

In the world’s eyes

 

Send someone a birthday card

Tell someone you are sorry

Do something nice for someone

Without being asked

 

Little things

Little things

The little things of love

 

You say you want to be famous

You say you want to be remembered

 

Visit someone in the hospital

Volunteer to help someone

Do something nice for someone

Without being asked

             Instead whoever wants to become great

             Must be your servant

             And whoever wants to be first

             Did NOT come to be served

             But to serve

             And to give his life

DOING THE WILL OF THE FATHER

 

DOING THE WILL

OF THE FATHER

Growing up

WERE you close

To your dad

Did you TRY

To obey

What he told you

To do

Jesus was

Jesus did

And WHEN he was praying

To him

In the garden of Gethsemane

With his apostles and friends

All asleep

He still had

THE PRESENCE OF MIND

And obedience to say

“MY Father

IF it is possible

May this cup

Be taken away from me

Yet NOT

As I will

But as you will”                                                               Matthew 26:39

So ALWAYS

Do the WILL

Of your own father and mother-

And pay attention

To what and who

Your earthly brothers and sisters are

But also REMEMBER

Who your HEAVENLY relatives  are:

“For WHOEVER 

DOES the will

Of my heavenly Father

IS my brother, sister, and mother”                                              Matthew 12:50

SO-of course-I LOVE-my earthly sisters

And ALL my earthly relatives

BUT I also LOVE

ALL of you

My heavenly brothers and sisters

In Christ

YOU KNOW-who you are-

For I make NO SECRET of it

I LOVE 

ALL of you dearly too

Jesus was ALWAYS MOTIVATED

By doing his FATHER'S WILL

ALL the way

To the point

Of his death

I too

Like my HERO-Jesus

Always try to do

The will

Of my HEAVENLY FATHER

What a great motivating factor

“ALL a person's ways

SEEM pure to them

But motives

Are WEIGHED by the Lord”                                                      Proverbs 16:2

DOING the WILL

Of the Lord

And the things of today

Are very DIFFERENT

Than they were

2000 years ago

So things today

May call for different actions

But SOME THINGS are FOR SURE:

WE can't go wrong

By loving THE GOD OF LOVE

We can't go wrong

By loving others

And we can't go wrong

By being KIND AND FORGIVING OTHERS

We know for certain

That doing these things

Are certainly:

“DOING THE WILL OF GOD”

To do 

The WILL OF GOD THE FATHER

Is acknowledging God

As our creator

ACCEPTING the teachings

Of Jesus

And LIVING our lives

According to God's teachings

MAY we ALL

LOVE our earthly family

LOVE OUR heavenly family

And do

THE WILL OF GOD

THEN we will know

We are BUILDING

BOTH GOD'S earthly

And heavenly kingdoms

JOHN THE BAPTIST

 

 

Today is the feast

Of Jesus’ cousin, John

He was a forerunner

To Jesus’ message

Of peace and love

But he taught

In a way

Of fire and brimstone

 

He tried to

Prepare the way

For Jesus

He tried

To do what is right

He was rewarded

For his efforts

By someone

Cutting off his head

 

John had many followers

He even baptized Jesus

He was Jesus’ cousin

He was Jesus’

Forerunner in love

Ps        “Then Jesus came from Galilee

              To the Jordan to be baptized by John

              But John tried to deter him saying,

 

             “I need to be baptized by you

              And do you come to me?”

 

              Jesus replied,

 

              “Let it be so now

                It is proper for us

                To do this to fulfill all righteousness”

 

                Then John consented

 

               As soon as Jesus was baptized

               He went up out of the water

               At that moment-heaven was opened

               And he saw the SPIRIT OF GOD

               Descending like a dove and lighting on him

               And a voice from heaven said,

 

               “This is my Son-whom I love

                With him I am well pleased”                                               Matthew 3:13-17

 

BE A LIGHT=IN TODAY'S WORLD

 

BE A LIGHT=IN TODAY'S WORLD

We live in CONFLICTING-

Disappointing times=in which

There is NO PUBLIC UNITY

Where we can't even AGREE

On a leader=we can't LOOK

To political people

For SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

We need to be THE VOICE=

The voice for the world

WE need to be the LIGHT

IN OUR DARKNESS

“If you remove

From your midst oppression=

False accusation

And malicious speech

If you BESTOW

Your bread on the hungry

And SATISFY the afflicted

The LIGHT shall rise

For you in

The darkness

And the gloom

Shall BECOME for you

Like midday”                                                                                                            Isaiah 58:9-10

ISAIAH tells us today

That when we are CONFRONTED

By HUMAN SUFFERING

Our call is NOT

To look to another

To fix it all

Our call is to

LEAVE our comfort zone=

STEP FORWARD

For the NEEDY=and embrace

Our brothers and sisters

In Christ

BE THE LIGHT=

In this world-

Be the light

In this dark dark world

“The Lord wraps himself-

IN LIGHT=

As with a garment

He stretches out

The heavens

Like a tent”                                                                                                            Psalm 104:2

“The people

Walking in darkness

Have seen a GREAT LIGHT”                                                                            Isaiah 9:2

“This is the verdict=

LIGHT has come

Into the world

But people loved darkness

Instead of LIGHT=

Because their deeds

Were evil”                                                                                                             John 3:19

With the election=coming up

This year=there seems

NO END

To the political talk

We LIVE in a spiritually

Barren time=NO MATTER

Who wins the

Upcoming election

We were born to FIGHT

GOD'S BATTLES=and there is

NOTHING stopping us from

Being that LIGHT

In Matthew=chapter 5

Jesus gives us the BEATITUDES=

And he tells us

We are BLESSED

“BLESSED are

The PURE in heart

For they will see God”                                                                                     Matthew 5:8

This year=no matter

What else happens=

It is TIME for us

To step forward=and

BE=LIGHT

To our country=and our world

In the name of Jesus=and OUR FATHER=our ONGOING LIGHT

Who or what can restore a broken soul

Only God

 

In a world

That breaks us down

A world

That leaves us cold

A world that breaks us in two

Tell me God

What can we do

 

For every million out there

That can heal a broken body

There is only one

Who can restore a broken soul

 

ONLY GOD can do it

ONLY GOD

Can restore a broken soul

 

“Restore to me

The joy of your salvation

And grant me a willing spirit

To sustain me”                                                                 Psalm 51:12                          

 

Restore my heart

Oh Lord

Restore my soul

 

For all those out there

Who can heal a broken body

It is only you Oh LORD

Only you

Who can heal a broken soul

 

So Lord

For ALL of us out here

Broken in so many ways

But this world can break you---Oh Lord

You know that all too well

What are we to do

 

Create in me a clean heart

Oh Lord

And put

A NEW AND RIGHT SPIRIT  within me
