In every society

There are

Three kinds of people

 

The lawless

Those who do

What the law demands

And the volunteers

Those who go the extra mile

 

Jesus was

The ultimate volunteer

He gave his life

Freely for all of us

 

He was

Not just a hired hand

He was the ultimate GOOD SHEPHERD

Who did not lose

Any of his sheep

 

So Lord

We ask of you

Not just to do

As we are asked

But for the grace

To go the extra mile

 

We ask of you

To give our lives freely

Back to you

 

Not just

To be loved by God

But to give

Our life and love back in return

 

We ask of you

For the grace

To live like you

To give our lives freely

 

And to be like you

Go the extra mile

And be

14 HUGS=AND OTHER GIFTS FROM GOD

 

Many of you=have asked me=SPECIFICALLY RECENTLY=Is=WHERE

Did you COME up=with the term 14 HUGS?=and WHY IS there no

POEM=for it?

 

First and foremost=A HUG=is a term OF ENDEARMENT=It is GIVEN=

From God to you=It is a GIFT OF LOVE=and there is NOTHING sexual=

About it=and it is offered FROM ME to you too=Men=Women=and

Boys and girls=and HOPEFULLY among all of us

 

14 HUGS=SPECIFICALLY=comes from a radio PERSONALITY=I listened

TO=WHEN I was a young man=He used to say=EVERY DAY=”You NEED

14 HUGS a day to SURVIVE”=So here is a GIFT=From God and me=to you=

14 HUGS A DAY=for you=EVERY DAY=for the REST of your life

 

“Peter replied’=’Repent and be baptized=EVERY one of you=In the name of

Jesus Christ=for the forgiveness=of your sins=And you will receive=THE GIFT

Of the Holy Spirit’”                                                                                                                             Acts 2:38

14 HUGS A DAY=From God and Me=to you=and lets give some=among all of us=

Among each other too=14 Hugs=are God-Sustaining and LIFE=sustaining

 

“You make your saving help=My shield=and your right hand=SUSTAINS ME=

Your help has made me great”                                                                                                       Psalm 18:35

“The Son=is the radiance of God’s glory=and the exact representation=of his being=

SUSTAINING all things=by his powerful word”                                                                      Hebrews 1:3

“Heaven and earth=will pass away=but MY WORDS=will never pass away”       Matthew 24:35

 

AND NEITHER=will our HUGS=for they are SYMBOLIC=of our LOVE=for one another=

And they will EXIST=Between=God and you and me=and all of us=UNTIL the end of

Time=14 HUGS=my dear friends=My dear BROTHERS AND SISTERS=from the Father

God and His Son!

PEOPLE KNOW

 

 

 

 

 

In most cases
People know

When they are

Doing wrong

In most cases

People just

Don’t want to change

They feel justified

They don’t want

To sing a new song

 

They want to judge

They want to hold

On to that grudge

They feel justified

In letting you have it-the hatred

 

People know

It’s wrong

People know

They just don’t care

 

How sad it is for them

How sad it is for us

It’s sad

Because people

Are not

Giving this world their best

 

People know

But God knows too

And unless people change

This world-we ALL

Are going to lose

THE AUTHOR OF LIFE!

 

THE AUTHOR OF LIFE

Do you know

What an AUTHOR is

The word “author” is defined as

“One who originates or creates; SOURCE”

And that is WHAT our God is

THE SOURCE

The CREATOR of this world

And I have to wonder

How he FEELS about us

In today's world

BEGINNING with Adam-us men-

have made a mess

Out of this world

And with the example of HIS SON-Jesus Christ

He showed us

HOW to get things right

The PERFECT LAMB

The perfect example

For us on how to live

OUR GOD

Is THE AUTHOR of life

His Son-Jesus

Is the perfect example of

How to live

With PERFECT love

With perfect forgiveness

And with perfect kindness

“The heavens declare

The glory of God

The skies proclaim

The work

Of his hand

Day after day

They pour forth speech

Night after night

They display knowledge

There is no speech 

Or language

Where their voice

Is not heard

The voice goes out

Into ALL the earth

the words

To the end

Of the world”                                                             Psalm 19:1-4

The earth was made perfect

BY GOD

So that we could

LIVE on it and in it

In fact

The only thing

On this earth

That is not perfect is us-human beings

And God 

In the FORM of his SON

The perfect example

SHOWED us how to live

A life out of LOVE

For our God

Is the God

Of PERFECT ORDER

NOT the author of confusion

The way this world

Exists today

“FOR GOD is NOT the author

Of confusion

But of peace

As in ALL churches of the saints”                                         1 Corinthians 14:33

Think about it

The SAINTS are GOD'S PEOPLE too

And they got it

ALMOST perfect-like Christ-

Our God did

We can do better

We can make God

THE AUTHOR OF ALL LIFE

PROUD of us-yet again

“And being made perfect 

He became the AUTHOR

Of eternal salvation

Unto all them

That obey him”                                                                              Hebrews 5:9

All we have to do

Is LISTEN to our God

And obey him

And look to our model

His Son-Jesus Christ

In how to act

“THIS is the covenant

That I will make

With the House of Israel

I will put my law

In their inward parts

And WRITE it

In their heart

And I will be THEIR GOD

And they shall be

MY PEOPLE”                                                                Jeremiah 31:33

                                                                                        (repeated in Hebrews 8:10)

So let us get it RIGHT

ONCE AGAIN

As they did

After the Resurrection

Let us listen

To our God

Let us obey

And FOLLOW the example of Christ

So that we can make 

Our God

THE AUTHOR OF LIFE

NOT only proud of his creation

The earth

But PROUD of HIS people 

ONCE AGAIN

HAPPY NURSE’S DAY

 

 

 

 

“To be a Nurse”

 

 

When the nights get long

When there is

No time for sleep

And your eyes

Are so tired

That you just

Want to weep

 

Remember what

You are doing it for

To be a nurse

 

To be a nurse

Is to

Give love and compassion

To be a nurse

Is to live life

With a passion

 

To be a nurse

Is quite a calling

To give help to another

When they are

In danger of falling

What could be more noble

Than to be a nurse

 

So when the nights are long

And there is no time for sleep

And you are hurting so bad

You just want to weep

 

Remember to help

Another human being

Is the greatest calling of all

 

What could be more noble

Than to be a nurse

Ps        For all the nurses in the world.

 

 

My niece Lindsay is studying to be a nurse.  My cousin, Kimberly, is a nurse.

My cousin’s wife, Romona, is a nurse.  My good friend Theresa C., is a nurse.

And for Rowena.

 

For a lot of reasons, I think nursing is among the noblest professions

 

Ps        “I needed clothes and you clothed me

             I was SICK and you looked after me

             I was in prison and you came to visit me”                        Matthew 25:36

 

             “I tell you the truth-whatever you did

              For the least of my brothers

              You did for me”                                                        Matthew 25:40

 

 

 

GOD LOVES YOU-AND SO DO I!

 

GOD LOVES YOU=AND SO DO I!

GOD LOVES YOU!-

and so do I

I often tell people-

“GOD LOVES YOU!-

And so do I”

Imagine-my surprise

WHEN I ran across

That very saying

At a Christian book store

On plaques and coffee cups

Needless to say

I bought a couple

I have also ran across

That saying

In religious books-poems-banners-

And bumper stickers

DO YOU really believe that

GOD DOES love you

And more importantly

DO YOU LOVE GOD

And

Do you remain LOYAL to the Lord

“AS the Father loves me-

So I also love you

REMAIN in my love”                                                               John 15:9

The message that

“GOD LOVES YOU!”

Should make us feel

At peace

And make it easier

For us

To RETURN our love to God

By the way

SO DO I

That is what

As Christians 

We are called to do

Jesus said:  “LOVE ONE ANOTHER”                                                 John 15:12

So I ask you again

Do you love God

And do you LOVE OTHERS

Do you STILL LOVE God

WHEN some tragedy or illness strikes

Or when someone CLOSE to you passes away

Do I QUESTION my love

For God

In these moments

Or do I REMAIN

LOYAL TO GOD

“And HOPE (in God)

Does not disappoint us

Because God has POURED OUT

His love

Into our hearts

By the Holy Spirit

Whom he has GIVEN US”                                                  Romans 5:5

And while

We are LOVING ONE ANOTHER

Let us remember

That the ancient Greek philosophy

USED three words to express LOVE

Philia-is a common friendship-

KIND OF LOVE

Eros-is an affection

Or sexual kind of love

And AGAPE is an

UNCONDITIONAL kind of love

The kind of love

GOD has for us

And the kind of love

(IF we are TRUE CHRISTIANS)

We are to have for each other

AS CHRIST'S DISCIPLES

“Let NO DEBT remain outstanding 

Except the CONTINUING DEBT

To LOVE one another

For he who loves

His fellow man

Has FULFILLED the law”                                                      Romans 13:8

SO CONTINUE to love God

And each other

Through illness and physical pain

Through financial hardship

And through relationship difficulties

BE CONSISTENT to this

In good times and bad

What could be

More unconditional than that

GOD LOVES YOU!

And so do I

Today-and every day

OF YOUR LIFE

DON’T WORRY=ABOUT TOMORROW!

 

One thing=I have LEARNED

Is that=we needn’t worry

ABOUT TOMORROW=

For there are ENOUGH PROBLEMS

In today

 

Remember that

God has already

Brought us THROUGH

All of our PAST ISSUES

And he will=TAKE CARE

Of all of our tomorrows too

DON’T WORRY=ABOUT TOMORROW!

Live in the now

 

“Therefore=I tell you

DO NOT WORRY

About your life

 

What you will eat or drink-

Or about your body

What you will wear

 

Is not life

MORE than food

And the body

More than clothing?”                                                                                                         Matthew 6:25

 

God has taken CARE

Of all of your needs=thus far

He will=Take care

Of your NEEDS tomorrow too

DON’T WORRY=ABOUT TOMORROW!

 

Jesus CALLS US

To reverence our bodies

And NOT to worry

About tomorrow=

To take care=of our

PRECIOUS WELL-BEING

And REVERE all of creation

 

PLACING OUR TRUST

In a loving and provident God

And his SON=DON’T WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW!

 

“Do not boast=ABOUT TOMORROW

For you do not know

What a day=may bring”                                                                                                         Proverbs 27:1

 

“Therefore-do not worry

ABOUT TOMORROW

 

FOR TOMORROW will             

Worry about itself=Each day

Has enough trouble=of its own”                                                                                                   Matthew 6:34

 

“Why-you do not=even know

What will happen TOMORROW=

What is your life?

 

You are a mist-

That appears for a little while

And then vanishes”                                                                                                             James 4:14

 

LIVE in the now

Live in=

THE PRESENT MOMENT

Have faith=God has you

TOMORROW will take care

Of itself

DON’T WORRY=ABOUT TOMORROW!

 

God=our Father=and

Jesus his SON=remind us

To LIVE IN THE NOW

To live in=THE PRESENT MOMENT

 

Turn your HEART

OVER To God

He will=NEVER ABANDON YOU!

 

“Blessed are those=

Who have learned=to acclaim you

 

Who walk=in the light

OF YOUR PRESENCE=Lord”                                                                                                    Psalm 89:15

 

ACCEPT God today

Love God today

 

He had you

IN YOUR YESTERDAYS!

He has you today=

And he will have you

IN ALL=of your tomorrows

DON’T WORRY=ABOUR TOMORROW!
