SAINT BERNARD OF CLAIRVAUX 

Saint Bernard was a man

Of CHARM=with learning=

And eloquence

He was the abbot of Clairvaux =

A doctor of the CHURCH=and a

LEADING church man

Of the 12th century=and ONE

Of the principal promoters of MONASTI CISM  

Bernard's arrival =

TRIGGERED an unprecedented release

Of monastic energy

In three years=he

Was SENT OUT

At the head of a COLONY

Of thirteen

They settled in Clairvaux 

And created the diocese

Of Langres

He was a leader=

A WRITER=preacher=and

BECAME a SAINT

He PERSONALLY founded  68 monasteries

In Europe

And STILL had 700 monks

Left over=to CALL his own

CLAIRVAUX became the SPIRITUAL CENTER

Of Europe=

And when he died at age 63

There were 339 houses

In the CISTERCIAN COMPLEX

For years on end=he was

ACTIVE in public affairs=and

This lead to a GENUINE CRY

Of his SOUL=for

He was TORN AWAY from his cloister

He WON a GOOD PART of EUROPE

For Pope INNOCENTII=and preached

The SECOND CRUSADE

Which would wind up being

HIS BIGGEST FAILURE

Saint Bernard was CANONIZED

Twenty-two years after his death

And three of his brothers

As well as a sister

EARNED the title=”BLESSED”

His most FAMOUS written

Document was his TREATISE 

On the LOVE OF GOD

And he FOCUSED on the

HUMAN NATURE of Christ=and

His LOVE for the BLESSED MOTHER=Mary

He was canonized in 1174=and became a DOCTOR

Of the CHURCH in 1830

And today=August 20th=

Is his FEAST DAY

Our God

Is a big big God

A God

With a big big love

 

There is room

For all of us

In his Kingdom                                                                                            

The Kingdom of God

 

While we may run out

Of everything else

God never ever

Runs out of love

 

There is room for the Catholics

All the other Christian religions too

And we won’t forget

The Muslims and the Jews

And all the other religions

Because

They are God’s people too

 

Our God is a big big God

A God

With a big big love

 

Our God

Is a big big God

And there is room

For you

 

There is room

FOR YOU

HE IS NOT LIMITED!

 

THE LOVE OF GOD=THE JUSTICE of God=is not that of man’s=How many TIMES=Have you

Heard a person say=”It is NOT FAIR-Because……..”=Well that is EXACTLY=what the workers=

Were saying=IN today’s parable=”IT IS NOT FAIR”=But the LOVE of God=The JUSTICE of God=

Is for us ALL=We all=WIN WITH GOD! And Jesus=If we say YES to him=”So the LAST will=

Be first=and the FIRST=will be Last”                                                                                                      Matthew 20:16

In TODAY’S PARABLE=The LANDOWNER=Hires some people at dawn=Some more at 9AM=

MORE at noon=He then hires  more  MID-AFTERNOON=and the last of the bunch=at 5PM=

And WHEN pay time COMES=THE LANDOWNER decides==He pays them=ALL THE SAME=The early ONES said=”IT IS NOT FAIR”=even though=ALL were paid=What they AGREED to pay for

 

MY SISTERS AND BROTHERS=We all WORK for the Holy Father God and Jesus=and HE pays us=

WITH and IN LOVE=Afterall=He is=THE GOD OF LOVE==He is a JUST God=and If we COME  to him=

At age two=or age 22=We still get the Same reward=GOD’S LOVE=GOD LOVES US all=and There is=

ENOUGH LOVE to go around=Our God=IS FAIR AND JUST!

“He is the Rock=his works are perfect=and all his WAYS ARE JUST=A faithful God=who does

No wrong=Upright and JUST is he”                                                                                                 Deuteronomy 32:4

“The works of his hands=are FAITHFUL and JUST=all his precepts are trustworthy”       Psalm 111:7

“Now I=Nebuchadnezzar=Praise and exalt=and Glorify the King of heaven=Because everything=

He does=Is right=and all his ways=ARE JUST=And those who walk in pride=he is ABLE

To humble”                                                                                                                                               Daniel 4:37

With the GOD OF LOVE=WE ARE ALL WINNERS!=There is More than ENOUGH LOVE=to

Go around!

 

Someone may feel=It is LESS for us=but that person=is SO WRONG=God’s love=JESUS’ LOVE=

And his RESOURCES=are not LIMITED=The KINGDOM OG GOD=Is DIFFERENT than this kingdom

On earth=We could stand=To LEARN some of GOD’S WAYS=With THE FATHER and=with Jesus=

There is MORE THAN ENOUGH=to go around!=IN GOD’S KINGDOM=My Brothers and Sisters=

I will NOT LOSE=Because you RECEIVED something from God=Nor will you lose=IF I receive

Something from God=Our God is a JUST GOD=A FAIR GOD!

“……..He did it to demonstrate=His righteousness=at the present time=So as to BE JUST=and the

One who justifies=Those who Have FAITH in Jesus”                                                                  Romans 3:26

“If we confess our sins=He is FAITHFUL AND JUST=and will forgive us=Our sins=and purify us=

From all unrighteousness”                                                                                                                     1 John 1:9

“And I heard the Altar respond’=’Yes Lord God Almighty=True and JUST=are your

Judgments’”                                                                                                                                                     Revelation 16:7

 

Dear LORD=God above=We your brothers and your sisters=UNDERSTAND that  NONE=of us

WILL LOSE=Because you are GOOD=to someone else=IN the parable today=Jesus Reminds us=

That we are NOT COMPETING for God’s LOVE=God LOVES us all!=No matter WHEN we come to him!

 

WE ALL WIN=WITH OUR GOD OF LOVE!=At 2 or 22=42=or 72=It is Just a matter of saying=

YES to the HOLY FATHER GOD=and Jesus’ LOVE

In Jesus’ name=and IN the name=Of our Holy Father God=who is ALWAYS JUST and FAIR!

EVERYONE=in this world

Seems to get ATTACKED=for

ONE thing or another=INCLUDING OUR FAITH

That included Jesus=and me sometimes

 

But=NO MATTER=what is

Going on in our lives=we have

To KEEP our eyes=ON THE PRIZE

 

And the PRIZE IS=

OUR LIVING GOD OF LOVE

Keep your eyes=on this prize

 

So don’t BELIEVE in false teachers=or

Follow false prophets

 

“……..they PREACH=but

Do not practice”                                                                                                                   Matthew 23:3

 

“So you=MUST BE CAREFUL=

To do everything they tell you

 

But do not do=what they do=for

They do not practice=what they preach”                                                                     Matthew 23:3

 

Stay close to Jesus=

Stay close= to HIS HOLY FATHER

KEEP YOUR EYES=ON THE PRIZE!

The living=loving=GOD OF LOVE

 

“Do you not know=that

In a race=all the runners run

 

But only one=GETS THE PRIZE

Run in such a way=as to

GET THE PRIZE”                                                                                                                  1 Corinthians 9:24

 

“I press on=toward the goal

TO WIN THE PRIZE=for which

God has called me heavenward

In Christ Jesus”                                                                                                                Philippians 3:14

 

2,000 years ago=Jesus warned us

AGAINST FALSE TEACHERS=false prophets

Namely the Pharisees and scribes

 

And the great Saint Paul warned us

Against false teachers too=I am here to tell you

That there are MANY FALSE TEACHERS

In today’s world too

 

Stay close to Jesus=Stay

Close to God=KEEP YOUR EYES

ON THE PRIZE=Of God

Love=truth=kindness=and forgiveness

 

“Watch out=for FALSE PROPHETS=

They come to you=in sheep’s clothing

But inwardly=they are ferocious wolves”                                                                                      Matthew 7:15

 

“But what does it matter?=

The important thing is=in that every way

Whether from FALSE MOTIVES=or true

Christ is preached=and because of this

I rejoice”                                                                                                                                      Philippians 1:18

 

Jesus tells us=

You have=ONE RABBI==ONE FATHER=ONE MASTER

Period

The LIVING=LOVING Holy Father God=and

A Franciscan PRIEST AND MARTYR

ANOTHER SAINT=That I always WANTED=to know about=Was Saint Maximilian Kolbe=He

Was born in 1894-and died in 1941=He died by LETHAL INJECTION=after days of

STARVATION=and it was on THE EVE=of the ASUMPTION OF MARY!

 

He was a Polish conventional Franciscan=and GAVE HIS LIFE=by voluntarily REPLACING=

A younger man=-----The FATHER of a FAMILY=in the starvation bunker=In Auschwitz, Germany=

Realizing the MARTYRDOM =He chose at the age of ten=When the VIRGIN MARY=appeared to

Him in a VISION=She asked him =To choose PURITY=or a gold crown of martyrdom=Obviously

He chose BOTH

 

At 16 years of age=He became a friar=IN POLAND=He had some INTENSE CHALLENGES=and

Even CONTRACTED tuberculosis=During his PRIESTLY studies in Rome=and there=as a means

Of COUNTERACTING anti-Catholic influences=and to KEEP up the ideals=of the youthful

Friars=He established  the Militia of THE IMMACULATE=Who were apostles=That would

CONVERT=and sanctify souls=Through the MEDIATION OF MARY=To cover himself=He kept

The picture of a lesser known Saint=OVER the PICTURE OF MARY=A saint whom Mary appeared

To

 

Saint Maximilian Kolbe was SICKLY=but he was INDEFEATABLE=and one of HIS FAVORITE SAYINGS WAS=”GOOD is more contagious than evil”=By the year 1939=His monthly review=”KNIGHT OF

THE IMMACULATE”=had a circulation of 1 million=and had its headquarter=Near Warsaw, Poland=

With 700 FRANCISCANS=It was the LARGEST religious house=IN the Catholic world=He also

ESTABLISHED MARIAN CENTERS-in Japan and India

 

He told his friars=”SANCTITY is not a luxury==But a SIMPLE DUTY=It is one of Christ’s first

Principles=’Be PERFECT=as YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER is perfect’”

 

Saint Maximilian Kolbe=We PRAY to you=that you PRAY FOR US=that we can Have the HEART=

With a devotion to Mary That you did=and UNITE OUR HEART with Mary=to her SON=and be

DEVOTED to the HOLY FAMILY=and to THE HOLY FATHER GOD!=The ever LIVING=ever loving

SEEKING GOD?

Have you been actively SEARCHING-

Seeking God-with your whole heart?

And have you found him?  I think

That you will-that I will-

IF we do it with intention-

With energy-and with EFFORT

“BLESSED are they who observe

God's decrees-who SEEK God-

With ALL their heart”                                                                        Psalm 119:2

How about that? If we 

Are actively seeking God-

We are BLESSED

And if we are actively

Seeking God-we are pursuing-

We are seeking God

Wit h all our heart

I think that that IMPLIES too-

We are SEEKING the most 

Important TEACHINGS of God and Jesus

Actively seeking God?

LOVE GOD with your whole heart

Love your NEIGHBOR as yourself

FORGIVE 70 X 7-and 

Live the BEATITUDES from

Jesus' famous teaching=

THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT

(Matthew chapters 5-6-and 7)

ACTIVELY seeking God-look a little DEEPER

You'll find him

LIVING in you-in that 

DEEPEST part

Of your own soul

“The lions

May grow weak and hungry

But hose

Who seek the Lord

Lack no good thing”                                                                                               Psalm 34:10

“I love

THOSE who love me

And those-who SEEK me-

Are you seeking God?

Are you finding God?

And it will be IMPOSSIBLE

The ONE who seeks-FINDS

And the one who knocks-
