CRY FREEDOM

 

 

150 years ago

In a little town in Texas

At the Alamo

A group of 119 or 120 men

Were WAITING for HELP

 

A group led by Colonel William Travis

A group that included famous men

Like Davy Crockett and William Bowie

 

Men

Fighting for their independence

Men fighting for an ideal

A 100 or so men

Fighting for the beginnings

Of the statehood of Texas

 

General Sam Houston and his army

Did come---too late

For these men

But NOT too late

For the ideal---the statehood of Texas

 

2,000 years ago

There was another revolution going on

A revolution

To return to the Word of God

 

A revolution started by one man

Jesus Christ

 

A revolution

To teach us how to live

A revolution

To teach us how to forgive

A revolution

To teach us how to live lives

Of kindness and compassion

 

This revolution

Faced even longer odds

Than those few men down in Texas faced

 

One man

Backed by twelve

But in the end

One man standing alone

Unto his dying breath---committed to his ideals

 

CRY FREEDOM

 

Sam Houston’s army was too late

For those 120 men

But NOT too late

To finish the job---that those men started

 

CRY FREEDOM

 

The 12 did return ( one replaced )

As we assume---so did the 72

And millions and millions of others

 

Too late

For that one man

But NOT too late

For those ideals to be accomplished

 

My friends

This world is spiraling downwards

More and more so each day

 

It is time

For a new army

Committed to Christ’s ideals---to step forward

 

“You my brothers

Were called to be free

But do not use your freedom

To indulge the sinful nature

Rather serve one another in love

The entire law

Is summed up by a single command

Love your neighbor as yourself”                                          Galatians 5:13-14

 

God and love

Versus hatred and resentment

SPIRIT over the flesh

 

It is time for us to stand up

To stand firm---to stand tall

 

Let us be slaves to God

Let us be slaves to love

Let us live

For the benefit of each other

And those yet to come

 

Let us

Teach God’s ways---Not human ways

Let us truly live out

THE GREAT COMMISSION

 

“ALL authority in heaven

And on earth

Have been given to me

 

Therefore

Go and make disciples of all nations

Baptizing them

In the NAME of the FATHER

And of the Son

And of the HOLY SPIRIT

And teaching them

To obey everything---I have commanded you

And SURELY I am with you

               ALWAYS

TO THE VERY END OF THE AGE”                                              Matthew 28:19 &20

 

And maybe ---if we do that

Maybe one day---we can ALL

It’s gotten a bit frayed nowaa

Its cotton culler’s faded see,

Aroun’ the edges, ah, well

Guess it’s a lot like me.

 

It’s been in the dooryard nigh’ on

Four generations, Lord knows,

Attached to the Ole Pole awavin’

Any way the wind blows.

 

The Ole’ Flag can still bring on

A glow of emotion, a sigh

When it snaps to an’ stretches out

Like cloth pinned to the sky.

 

Its culler’s once were carried with pride

Aroun’ the world just ‘bout everywhere

In theatres of war where heroes died

So that others would breathe free air.

 

I’ve seen it in the sunrise

Sil’vry dew hung on the bars,

An’ against the golden sunset

That bursts into blindin’ stars.

 

The Ole’ Flag, how proud it flies

Yet half-mast would befit it best,

When this last ol’e soldier dies

An’ goes to his LONG rest

NEVER IN DOUBT=THE STORY OF SAINT THOMAS

 

 

 

 

 

 

NEVER IN DOUBT

( the story of SAINT THOMAS )

 

 

How many of us

Have seen a sporting event

A particular nitty-gritty contest

Where you had no idea

Who was going to win

 

Then after the outcome

And your team won

Thought or said,

 

“The outcome

Was never in doubt”

 

Well I am here to tell you

The story of Saint Thomas

The story of “Doubting Thomas”

 

Well I am here to tell you

That the outcome was

“NEVER IN DOUBT”

 

We forget

That when Martha and Mary

Summoned Jesus to come back

And help Lazarus

Many of the other Apostles

Didn’t want to go

 

Because they had

To go through Judea

An area

Where Jesus had just almost been stoned

 

They were afraid

 

Then Thomas spoke up and said,

“LET us also go

That we may die with him”                                                    John 14:16

 

Then we flash forward

To after Jesus’ death

To where we find Thomas saying;

 

“Unless I see

The nail marks in his hands

And put my finger

Where the nails were

And put my hands into his side

I will NOT believe it”                                                               John 20:25

 

Do you ever feel that way

I know that I do

 

Thomas is our inspiration

For those of us

Still struggling with our faith

For whatever reason

 

For we know

That Thomas

Went on to preach about Jesus

After the Resurrection

And was martyred for it

 

Saint Thomas

Is the Saint of architects

And the spiritually blind

 

For those of us like Saint Thomas

Struggling with our faith

Like our favorites sports team

Striving for victory

WE WILL TRIUMPH

 

For we know that the outcome is

 

NEVER IN DOUBT

HIS TOUCH IS=MY=OUR=                                                                      

HEART’S DESIRE

 

Our Lord Jesus=Our Holy Father God==SEES

The HIDDEN THINGS=from our life=We cannot

HIDE ANYTHING=from them=They KNOW everything about us=

Yet they love us anyway=He frightened the pharisees=Jesus did=

And the scholars away=”Some of the scribes said in reply’=’

Teacher you have=answered well’=And they no longer=DARED to

Ask him anything”                                                                                                                                 Luke 20:39-40

 

WHEN the teachers and scholars=Saw Jesus COULD SEE through them=They

Were afraid to EVEN go near him=Let alone=ask him anything=Our

Holy Father God=Our Jesus=KNOW everything about us=You CANNOT

Hide from God=That is WHY

 

I long for=JESUS’ HEALING TOUCH=That is who Jesus is=That is why

He is MY/OUR HEART’S DESIRE=”I DESIRE=to do your will=My God=Your

Law is within my heart”                                                                                                                      Psalm 40:8

 

“Yes Lord=Walking in the way=of your laws=We wait for you=Your name

And renown=are THE DESIRE=of our hearts”                                                                       Isaiah 26:8

 

“For I know=That good itself=Does not dwell in me=that is=IN

My sinful nature=For I have the DESIRE=to do=what is good=but I

Cannot carry it out”                                                                                                                            Romans 7:18

 

We all have goals and dreams=IN this world=Sometimes we reach

Them=sometimes we don’t=We get SIDE-TRACKED=from what we do=

IN THIS LIFE=by our vices=like gambling= like alcohol=drugs=or an

ATTRACTION to=the wrong person of the OPPOSITE SEX=but we have

To KEEP IN MIND=our goals=our dreams=OUR/MY HEARTS’S DESIRE who

Is Jesus Christ=and the HOLY FATHER GOD!=His=Jesus’=is MY HEART’S
DESIRE=Christ’s loving touch=is OUR HEARTS’S DESIRE=every Heart’s desire

“NOW EAGERLY DESIRE=the greater gifts”                                                                              1 Corinthians 12:31

 

“Pray for us=We are sure that we=have a clear conscience=AND DESIRE=to

Live honorably==in every way=I particularly urge you=to PRAY=so that

I may be=Restored to you soon”                                                                                                 Hebrews 13:18-19

 

“Then=AFTER DESIRE=has conceived=It gives birth so sin=and sin=when

It is full-grown=gives birth to death”                                                                                               James 1:15

 

But the TOUCH OF=The Holy Father God=and his Son Jesus=FREE US=

From the desires of sin=THEIR TOUCH free us from ALL the unimportant

Things in this world=our vices and=and the deceitful SINS=of our HEARTS

 

His=GOD THE HOLY FATHER’S=Healing TOUCH of love is our=IS MY

HEART’S DESIRE=Everything true and beautiful=SHINES FORTH in us=

Especially the LORD’S TOUCH=if it is our HEART’S DESIRE

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our EVER LIVING=ever loving=ever

TOUCHING AND HEALING=Holy Father God!

SUFFERING

 

 

What do you do

With your suffering

 

What do you do

With your cross

 

In our Lord’s day

Capital punishment

Consisted of hanging

On a cross in front of everyone

 

Today it is the electric chair

Or lethal injection

 

But the essence

The true essence of the cross

Is anything

That causes

Anguish of the mind

Or desolation of the spirit

 

Is there something

In your life

Causing you

Anguish of the mind

Or desolation of the spirit

 

Heaven knows

There are many things

In today’s world

That causes

Anguish of the mind

And desolation of the spirit

 

But there is an answer

To this anguish and desolation

And the answer is

God and Christ

 

So

Do not suffer alone

Pick up

Your cross

And share it with

God and your neighbor

 

Jesus said

Pick up your cross

And come follow me

 

DO NOT SUFFER ALONE

IN NEED OF HOPE AND HEALING

 

IN NEED OF HOPE AND HEALING

Lord KNOWS-God knows-our world=

Is in NEED of HOPE & HEALING

BOTH on a collective and

On an individual basis=from

Case to case

The WORLD IS=and we are individually

ALL HURTING in some way

So much so that POPE FRANCIS-

Has called the CHURCH-a-

“FIELD HOSPITAL after battle”

“........

The LIGHT came into the world-

But people PREFERRED darkness

To LIGHT........”                                                                                                         John 3:19

WE are all FIGHTING our

Own individual BATTLES and

MOST of us are losing

This world is=INDIVIDUALLY=

We are=

In need of HOPE & HEALING

Yet this world-for some reason

Doesn't want to TURN

TO GOD

But wants to TURN to darkness

Instead of light

NO WONDER-so many of us

Are LOSING our battles

“ALL those gathered here

Will know

That it is NOT by sword

Or spear

The LORD SAVES;

For the BATTLE

Is the Lord's

And he will GIVE all of you

Into his hands”                                                                                                             1 Samuel 17:47

“Who is 

The KING of glory?

The Lord strong and mighty

The Lord mighty in BATTLE”                                                                                            Psalm 24:8

“THEY are demonic spirits

That perform signs

And they go out to the kings

Of the whole world

To gather them for the BATTLE

On the great day

Of GOD ALMIGHTY”                                                                                                  Revelation 16:14

TURN to God-if

You are in NEED of HOPE

And of HEALING

And who isn't?-in this world

That LIVES upside down

POPE FRANCIS got it right

WHEN he called the Church

“A FIELD HOSPITAL after battle”

We need to get out

Of the bars and the strip clubs

And get BACK INTO CHURCH

MAYBE then-we will FIND

The hope and the HEALING

That we are LOOKING FOR

“WHY my soul

Are you downcast?

Why so disturbed

WITHIN me?

Put your HOPE in God

For I will yet PRAISE him-

My SAVIOR-And my God”                                                                                       Psalm 42:5

“For the people's HEART-

Has become CALLOUSED-

They hardly hear with their ears

And they have CLOSED

Their eyes

Otherwise they might

SEE with their eyes

HEAR with their ears

Understand with their HEARTS-

And TURN-and I would HEAL THEM”                                                                      Acts 28:27

(the HOLY SPIRIT through the prophet Isaiah)

MY dear friends=IF=

You are in NEED of hope 

And of healing

TURN BACK to the Lord

Get back into church

And you will FIND IT in God

Dear LORD-FILL UP our hearts

With the HOPE and the HEALING-

Of the WORD OF GOD

We RENEW our PROMISE to TRY

As we CONTINUE to SEARCH for the LIGHT
