ONE MISSION

 

 

We have one mission

One mission in life

To learn to love God and all others

 

Lord-why is it so difficult

Why is it so hard

People don’t want

To love you as much as we say

 

It’s hard work-to love

When people are being mean and cruel

It’s hard work to keep loving

People who are being rude

 

One mission

One mission to learn to love

One mission

To learn to forgive

Lord-why is it so hard

I think it’s just selfishness

 

It’s just for ourselves

That we don’t want to live

 

One mission-to live

One mission-to forgive

One mission-to learn to live like God

But it’s just for ourselves

That we want to live

 

Lord-please help us

With our mission

And that is

To learn to live like you

This is our mission

To live with so much love

So much kindness

So much forgiveness

That people will see the WORD OF GOD come alive in us

THE HEART MOST FULL OF LOVE=FOLLOW HIM!

 

THE HEART MOST FULL

OF LOVE=FOLLOW HIM!

Jesus had a HEART FULL=

Of love=all the more reason

He is=what he was=

The SON of God

He had MORE LOVE in him=

Than any other human being

That ever lived

“We HAVE come to KNOW

And to BELIEVE

In the LOVE God

Has for us”                                                                                                                   1 John 4:16

The IMAGE of a heart

Has long been an image

Of LOVE=and today=

The feast of the SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Invites us to REMEMBER

The FULLNESS of love

That Jesus had for us

It CALLS us to remember

The OVERFLOWING compassion and

SELFLESS dedication=that poured forth

From the HEART of Jesus

“My HEART-O God-is steadfast-

I will SING and make music

With all my soul”                                                                                                      Psalm 108:1

“LISTEN my son

And be wise

And SET your HEART

On the right path”                                                                                                        Proverbs 23:19

“You breed of vipers-

HOW can you-

Who are evil

Say anything good?

For the MOUTH speaks

What the HEART is FULL OF”                                                                                  Matthew 12:34

And Jesus HAD a heart

FULL OF LOVE

He SPOKE mostly love-

For GOD IS LOVE

The HEART most full

OF LOVE=

The ONE who HEALED the sick

Gave SIGHT to the blind-and-

DID so much GOOD for others

We need to FOLLOW HIM-

In HOW we live our lives-

And LIVE our lives with LOVE

We NEED to FOLLOW the man-and-

The SON OF GOD Jesus=

The ONE who had the

MOST LOVE

“SURELY your goodness and love

Will FOLLOW ME

All the days

Of my life

And I will DWELL

In the hose of the Lord-

FOREVER”                                                                                                                   Psalm 23:6

“COME-FOLLOW ME,'

Jesus said,

'And I will SEND you out

To FISH for people'”                                                                                                        Matthew 4:19-20

That IS still our JOB TODAY

And TODAY=on the FEAST-

Of the SACRED HEART OF Jesus

We MUST REMEMBER THAT-

There is still great POWER

In the SACRED HEART of Jesus

Power to INSPIRE and RESTORE

RELATIONSHIPS with him and God-

HIS FATHER

Let us remember that JESUS' HEART-

Is the ONE MOST FULL OF LOVE

And FOLLOW HIM

Follow him all the WAY HOME

To a RESTORED relationship with him

And God his FATHER

IT’S NONE OF OUR CONCERN

 

 

 

 

 

Children and women

Are being molested

Children and women

Are being abused

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

People are living

On the streets

People are having trouble

Feeding their kids

And making ends meet

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

People are getting inadequate health-care

In some cases

No health-care at all

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

Gay and lesbian people

Are being excluded

In every walk of life

What do we care

Isn’t it “in” to hate them

It’s none of our concern

 

Jesus said,

“What you do to the least of my brothers……..”

 

What do we care

IT’S NONE of OUR CONCERN

MAKE IT RIGHT TOO!

 

I ATTENDED A MASS=a couple of weeks ago=ON DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY!=and

The Monsignor TAUGHT ME=Something I did not know=JESUS often GAVE HIS PEACE=

To HIS DISCIPLES and others=”PEACE I leave with you=MY PEACE I give you=I

Do NOT give to you=as the WORLD gives=Do not let=YOUR HEARTS be troubled=and

Do  not be afraid”=John 14:27

 

SHALOM-SHALOM!=So Jesus GIVES us his peace=But there is also an ADDITIONAL MEANING=

To that and it is=”MAKE IT RIGHT!”=AND THE apostles=DID JUST THAT=By giving UP=their lives=

For JESUS’ and GOD’S LOVE=right after the RESURRECTION!=And we too=CAN be a party=

To that=as 21^st century apostles=By giving up our lives=and LIVING and LOVING for Jesus=

Or at least=Making Jesus’ love and the Holy Father’s LOVE=Part of our lives=”MAKE IT RIGHT”=

Help make Jesus’ love=COME ALIVE=In today’s world=IN the modern world that=WE LIVE IN=

“SHALOM-SHALOM=MAKE IT RIGHT”=as Jesus so often said and DID

“Far be it-from you=To do such a thing=--------To kill the Righteous=with the wicked=

Treating the RIGHTEOUS and wicked alike=Far be it from you!=Will not the JUDGE=Of all

The earth=DO RIGHT”                                                                                                                                     Genesis 18:25

“The precepts of the Lord=ARE RIGHT=Giving joy=to the heart=The commands of the Lord=are

Radiant=Giving light to the eyes”                                                                                                             Psalm 19:8

“LEARN TO DO RIGHT=Seek justice=Defend the oppressed=Take up the cause of the

Fatherless=Plead the case of the widow”                                                                                                Isaiah 1:17

 

So=HOW can we make=God’s love=JESUS’ LOVE=COME alive in today’s world?=The APOSTLES

Continued Jesus’ work=2,000 years ago=as did the Saints=and the CHRISTIAN and CATHOLIC

Churches in today’s world=But we=You and me=have-CARRY that same RESPONSIBILITY=as

21^st century Christian apostles=We CAN=work for it too=”SHALOM-SHALOM=My PEACE I give

To you=MAKE IT RIGHT!”

 

LIVE in Peace  with your neighbor=LOVE the Holy Father God and Jesus=ABOVE all else=Forgive

70x7=and LIVE the BEATITUDES=Also BE INCLUSIVE with your LOVE=and SPEAK=Of God and the

GOSPEL at all times=MAKE IT RIGHT!

“Yet to ALL=Who did receive him=To those who BELIEVED=In his name=He gave the RIGHT=to

Become Children of GOD=--------Children not born=Of natural descent=Nor of human decision=

Or a husband’s will=BUT BORN OF GOD”                                                                                           John1:12-13              

“Do not repay anyone=Evil for evil=Be careful to do=WHAT IS RIGHT=In the eyes

“Of everyone”                                                                                                                                                     Romans 12:13

“Finally brothers and sisters=Whatever is true=Whatever is noble=WHATEVER IS RIGHT=

Whatever is pure=Whatever is lovely=Whatever is admirable=--------If anything is excellent or

Praiseworthy=--------Think about such things”                                                                         Philippians 4:8

 

JESUS BROUGHT His and=HIS FATHER’S LOVE=To the world=For he INFINITELY LOVED=

And does LOVE US=so remember you are=CHILDREN OF GOD=Live in love=and LIVE IN

PEACE=as much as you CAN=Reasonably can=MAKE IT RIGHT!=as you are a 21^st century

Apostle=and a CHILD OF GOD!=”SHALOM-SHALOM”=as our Jesus said and DID

 

In Jesus’ name=and IN the name of=OUR EVER LOVING=Ever living=EVER RIGHTEOUS=

Holy Father God!

SAINT MARK

 

 

 

 

 

 

SAINT MARK

 

 

Saint Mark was an evangelist

But not

One of the original apostles

 

He was the young man

Who followed Christ

After his arrest

And later escaped capture

 

“A young man wearing nothing

But a linen garment

Was following Jesus

 

When they seized him

He fled naked

Leaving his garment behind”                                                          Mark 14:51-52

 

Dear Lord-we pray

That as we follow you

Through our lives

When times become tough

That we do not flee from you

As the other apostles

And Mark did

 

Mark was later

The companion

Of both Paul and Peter

 

Paul and Barnabas-Mark’s cousin

Took Mark on Paul’s first missionary journey

But Mark turned back

For Jerusalem

 

Paul became angry

And his quarrel with Barnabas

Led to Barnabas and Mark
Preaching together in Cypress

 

“Some time later

Paul said to Barnabas,

‘Let us go back

And visit the brothers

Where we preached the Word of the Lord

And see how they are doing’

 

Barnabas wanted to take John

Also called John Mark with them

But Paul did not think

It wise to take him

Because he had deserted them

In Pamphylia

And not continued with them

In the work”                                                                    Acts 15:36:38

 

They had a sharp disagreement

And Barnabas and Mark

Preached in Cyprus

 

Paul took Silas

And headed out to strengthen the churches

In Syria and Cilicia

 

Later

Mark was with Paul

When Paul was in prison

 

“My fellow prisoner Aristarchus

Sends you his greetings

As does Mark-the cousin of Barnabas

(“You have received instructions about him

If he comes to you-welcome him”)                                                        Colossians 4:10

 

And Peter referred to Mark,

“As his son”

 

“She who is in Babylon

Chosen together with you

Sends you her greetings

As does my son Mark”

 

We must remember

That Mark was a good deal younger

Than Peter and Paul

And that Peter

Is probably the SOURCE

Of most of Mark’s Gospel

 

It is believed

Mark suffered martyrdom

Possibly in Alexandria

Of which he was the first bishop

 

The symbol of Mark

As an evangelist

Is the lion

And his feast day

Is April 25^th

When I didn’t know what to do

When I didn’t have a clue

Yes I found myself in you

 

I found myself in love

I found myself in forgiveness

I found myself

Everywhere that there was kindness

 

I found myself

In the heart of a child

I found myself in the smile of a friend

I found myself in the stranger walking by

For God’s sake

We don’t even know

Where they might have been

 

When I didn’t know what to do

When I didn’t have a clue

Yes

I found myself in you

In the so-called “losers” of this world

I found myself in you

 

You have to remember

There for the grace of God go I

I found myself in you

 

So when I didn’t know what to do

Ps        If you are LOST on this highway of life-a great reading is Luke 15

            Where Jesus tells the Pharisees 3 parables when they ask him

            Why he welcomes sinners and eats with them

 

            He tells the story of ONE LOST SHEEP

            He tells the story of ONE LOST COIN

            And he tells the story of ONE LOST SON

            And his LOVING FATHER

 

And in Matthew 9:12—Jesus tells the Pharisees when questioned

About eating with sinners:

 

“It is not the healthy who need a Doctor

But the sick”

 

But go and learn what this means

 

“I desire mercy not sacrifice”

 

For I have not come

To call the righteous-but sinners”

 

No matter where you are on this journey we call life

No one is so far gone as to be lost to God

 

Don’t give up on yourself because

GOD WILL NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOU

OF GOD’S LOVE

Of Christ’s life

Alive in some way

In today’s world

 

For ourselves

And if we are

BLESSED with the opportunity

For someone else

 

God BEGAN a work in you

At Baptism

And will carry it on

To completion-if we let him

 

“I THANK my God

Every time I remember you

In all my prayers

For all of you

I always

Pray with joy

Because of your partnership

In the gospel

From the first day

Until now

 

Being confident of this

That he who began

A GOOD WORK in you

Will carry it on to completion

UNTIL THE DAY

God began

A work in you At Baptism

 

Maybe you

As I did

Got lost along the way

In your teens-or twenties

 

Don’t worry

It is common

It is called growth

It is called maturity

 

Maybe you

Reconfirmed your vowels

From Baptism

As a baby

Or maybe you

Were born again

And recommitted your life to God

 

For each of us

Our journey is different

 

What is common

Is that

We are all

On a journey

And we all

Have a personal relationship with God

(If we choose to)

 

GOD BEGAN

A good and perfect work in you

And GOD WILL

Carry it on to completion

 

“The fear of the Lord

Is the beginning of wisdom

All who follow his precepts

Have good understanding

To him belongs eternal praise”                                                                    Psalm 111:10

 

“The fear of the Lord

Is the beginning of knowledge

But fools despise wisdom and discipline”                                                 Proverbs 1:7

 

God began

A good and perfect work in you

God will

CARRY IT ON TO COMPLETION

And we know

He will carry

That perfect work in us

THROUGH LOVE

 

“There is

NO FEAR IN LOVE

But perfect love

DRIVES out fear

Because fear

Has to do with punishment

 

The one who fears

Is not perfect in love”                                                                       1 John 4:18

 

Just love baby

JUST LOVE

 

God will
