And is deeply DISTRESSED

 

=SHE PRAYS EARNESTLY=In the TEMPLE=PROMISING

To DEDICATE her SON to God=If he gives her ONE

 

=The PRIEST ELI=Misunderstands her=BUT BLESSES HER

 

=GOD ANSWERS HER PRAYER=and she

GIVES Birth to Samuel

 

=She KEEPS her WORD=and BRINGS SAMUEL=

To SERVE=In the House of the LORD!

=Hannah OFFERS=a PRAYER OF PRAISE=CELEBRATING

God’s JUSTICE and POWER

 

=Eli’s SONS are corrupt priests=WHO ABUSE THEIR POSITION

(Hophni and Phinehas)

 

=Samuel GROWS UP=and SERVES GOD FAITHFULLY

 

=A “MAN OF GOD”=Prophesies  Judgment=On Eli’s family

(Because of his CORRUPT SONS)

 

 

1 SAMUEL 3

 

=God calls SAMUEL=as a boy=While he is

SERVING IN THE TEMPLE

 

=At first=SAMUEL Thinks Eli=is calling him

But Eli REALIZES=IT IS GOD

 

=God DELIVERS=a message OF JUDGMENT=

Against Eli’s household

 

=Samuel BECOMES Recognized=as a TRUE PROPHET=Of the LORD

 

 

1 SAMUEL 4=

 

=Israel GOES TO BATTLE=and is defeated by THE PHILISTINES

 

=They think=THE ARK OF THE COVENANT=Will guarantee VICTORY=

But it does NOT

 

=THE ARK is captured=and Eli’s SONS are killed

 

=When Eli hears this=HE FALLS AND DIES

 

=This DEMONSTRATES GOD’S POWER=Cannot be manipulated=

ESPECIALLY when PEOPLE are=DISOBEDIENT TO HIM

IT IS I!

 

 

 

 

IT IS I!

 

Today we read about=
THE DISCIPLES of Jesus=BEING AFRAID

And Jesus

Coming to their RESCUE!

 

HOW OFTEN=

Do we become AFRAID=ONLY

To have Jesus come=and sooth our fears?

 

Jesus told the apostles=

“IT IS I!”=when they were afraid=

And he tells us=THE SAME THING

When we are CHOKING

On our real life STRUGGLES=

Our health fears=our financial fears

And our relationship fears=

“IT IS I!”

 

“WHEN it was evening=

The disciples of Jesus=WENT

Down to the sea=embarked in a boat…….

Jesus had NOT YET=come to them

 

The sea was stirred up=

Because a strong wind=was blowing

 

When they had rowed=about

Three or four miles=they saw Jesus

WALKING on the sea…….and

They began=TO BE AFRAID

But he said to them=

‘IT IS I=do not be afraid’”                                                                                                 John 6:16-20

 

Think of YOUR STRUGGLES

Through your life=FEAR

Can do strange things=TO OUR psyches

 

But think about=your past STRUGGLES

And how Jesus=CAME OUT OF NOWHERE

To save you==to save me

How COMFORTABLE it is to hear

“IT IS I!”

From our Lord and Savior

Jesus Christ=Coming to RESCUE us

COMING TO SVE US!

 

“IT IS I=proclaiming victory=

Mighty to SAVE”                                                                                                          Isaiah 63:1

 

“She will give=birth

To a son=and you are

To give him=the name Jesus

Because he WILL SAVE his people

From their sins”                                                                                                                    Matthew 1:21

 

“Remember this=

Whoever turns a sinner

From the error=of their way

WILL SAVE them=

From death=and cover over

A multitude of sins”                                                                                                               James 5:20

 

Dear Lord=we PRAY

When we are STRUGGLING=with

The rough winds=of our LIVES

Health=financial=and relationship

 

HELP us to=OPEN our hearts

And open up minds= so we can

HEAR you say=”IT IS I”

Coming to SAVE YOU

 

From the rough water and winds

Of your life

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our ever loving=EVER SAVING=Holy Father God!

How is it that we live in the richest country in the world

And have millions and millions of people living below the poverty line and

without food?

 

How is it?

 

How is it that we are supposed to life in a moral country and we are spending billions

And billions of dollars on the stripping, and pornographic industries?

 

How is it?

 

How is it that there are 3 billion cases of reported sexual child abuse in our country

A year?

 

How is it?

 

HOW IS IT?

THE GREAT UNIFIER=IS=THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD!

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE GREAT  UNIFIER IS=THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD

 

This world=This country=IS CRYING OUT=FOR UNITY=Like never BEFORE=UNFORTUNATELY=

DIVISION is PART of the human condition=WE are set apart=By social=BY POLITICAL=and

ALONG religious lines=and there is ALSO GOVERNMENT and INSTITUTIONAL DIVISION=

Right now=and even IN FAMILIES=but  there is=STILL HOPE for us=for we have the GREAT UNIFIER=

The Holy Spirit OF GOD!=Our world just has=TO LISTEN and TO BELIEVE=”All the BELIEVERS=Were

ONE in heart and mind=No one claimed=That any of their possessions=Was their own=But

They SHARED EVERYTHING they had”                                                                                                   Acts 4:32

And we can=STILL FIND UNITY=In our family=With our Friends==and WITHIN RELIGIONS=

And government=Because we have=THE GREAT UNIFIER=The Holy Spirit OF GOD!

 

THE RESURRECTION of Jesus=Changes the human condition=With the GIFT of the Holy Spirit=

From the Father God and Jesus=WE FIND  THE PROMISE=Of NEWNESS of life=And UNITY =then we

STILL HAVE HOPE=That we can TRANSFORM=the division of this world=to and THROUGH the FIRE=

Of DIVINE LOVE=The LOVE of=the Holy Father of God=and Jesus=as well as=THE HOLY SPIRIT=

Of God=CAN still UNIFY US=with ONE heart and ONE MIND=THERE IS HOPE!

 

“For if we=have been UNITED with him=In a death like his=We will also certainly be=UNITED with

Him=In a Resurrection like his”                                                                                                                    Romans 6:5

“Therefore if you=Have any encouragement=From BEING UNITED with Christ=IF any comfort=

From his love=If any common Sharing=from his Spirit=If any tenderness and compassion=Then

Make my joy complete=By being Like MINDED=Having the same love=Being ONE in spirit=and of

One mind”                                                                                                                                                    Philippians  2:1-2

 

The CHURCH=Can be a POWERFUL SIGN=of UNITY=Particularly after Pentecost=The  first

Christians Knew the UNIFYING EFFECT of=The Holy SPIRIT OF GOD=and the LIVING WORD of life=

From JESUS and THE BIBLE=Because of their FAITH=and the GREAT UNIFYING EFECT=Of the

HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD!

“MY GOAL is that=They may be encouraged in heart and=UNITED IN LOVE=So that they may

Have=The full richness of complete understanding=In order that=they may know=The mystery

Of God”                                                                                                                                                              Colossians 2:2

“And over all these virtues=PUT ON LOVE=which binds them all together=IN

PERFECT UNITY”                                                                                                                                           Colossians 3:14

 

Dear Lord=We pray=That you  TURN OUR HEARTS=Back to loving you=and to LOVING ONE

ANOTHER=so that we can BE=A LIFE GIVING COMMUNITY=Just like the early apostles=and

Disciples=For we are 21^st Century APOSTLES TOO=Striving to be signs of UNITY=”How good and

How pleasant it is=When GOD’S people=LIVE  TOGETHER IN UNITY”                                      Psalm 133:1

Dear Lord=Dear Holy Father God=We pray to you=TO MAKE us ONE=A single community

Of=ONE HEART AND MIND!

Sometimes I feel so low

That I actually feel miniscule

I’ll carry the promise of hope

I’ll carry the promise of love

I’ll carry the promise

Of up above

 

I’ll carry the promise of life

I’ll carry the promise of love

I’ll carry the promise

I wear the medal

Of seven operations

I wear the medal

Of a lifetime of chronic illness

 

I wear the stigma of a bankruptcy

I wear the cross of many failed relationships

I wear the cross of love

 

I wear the cross of botched medical care

I wear the cross

Of when nothing and no one

Seemed to want to share

I wear the cross of love

 

I wear the cross

Of a lifetime of problems

I could do nothing about

I wear the cross of love

 

But most of all

I haven’t given up

So I carry the cross of hope

So I carry the cross of love

Of not knowing when to say “WHEN”

 

So I decided

To carry the promise of love
