THE GREAT COMMISSION

 

 

Jesus gave us

The Great Commission

 

He said

Go and make disciples

 

Of all nations

 

The job

Is only part done

 

Are you

Going to accept Christ’s challenge

Are you

Going to

Help get it done

 

Are you going to do

All that you can

To get the job done                                        

 

Even if it is

Only bringing one person to God

That furthers Jesus’ purpose

And help gets the job done

 

The great commission is upon us

Let us begin to make disciples

Of all people

Of all nations

Beginning today

The prophet Jeremiah=Tells us today=That GOD THE FATHER=is NEVER DONE

With us!=That we are CLAY=In the potter’s hand=and that we are Continuous UNFINISHED

WORKS IN PROGRESS!=”Then the WORD of the Lord=came to me’=He said=’Can I not do with you=

Israel=as the Potter does?’=Declares the Lord=’LIKE CLAY=in the hand=of the POTTER=so

Are you =in my hand=Israel’”                                                                                                                   Jeremiah18:5-6

And so are WE=My friends=IF we are open and WILLING=God CAN mold us=Into whatever

He WANTS US to be=Maybe even ONE=of his MASTERPIECES=THE LORD IS NOT DONE=

WITH You=With me or with US YET=He is NEVER DONE WITH YOU!                      

 

We just have to=Try and STAY HUMBLE=and stay OPEN to God’s will=For we are CLAY in

THE HOLY FATH’S HANDS=and the Lord Jesus’ hands=We are WORKS IN PROGRESS!==or/and

Have the Capacity to be=THE LORD’S UNFINISHED MASTERPIECES!=Let the Lord have

Your Heart=The Lord has=SPECIFIC plans and purposes=For your life!

“……..so is MY WORD=That goes out from my mouth=It will NOT return to me empty=but

WILL ACCOMPLISH=what I desire=and achieve the purpose=For which I sent it”      Isaiah 5511

 

ONE MAN=that was CLAY=IN the great=the MASTER BUILDER’S HANDS=Was our Saint

For today=Saint Peter Chrysologus=Who let the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY=have his WAY with him=

He was known as=”GOLDEN WORDS”=For the way he DELIVERED his concise messages=The

Lord was NOT DONE with him=and he became a SAINT!=and who KNOWS=What the LORD=

Has in mind for YOU and me=For we are WORKS in progress=The Lord  Is NOT done with you and

Me=and he NEVER WILL BE!

 

“SURELY your goodness and love=Will follow me=All the days of my life=and I will Dwell in the=

Hose of the Lord FOREVER”                                                                                                                        Psalm 23:6

“If you love me=Keep my commands=And I will ask the Father=and he will=Give you another

ADVOCATE=To help you=and be with you FOREVER=-------The Spirit of Truth”                    John 14:15-16     

The Holy Father God and His SON=are with you and me=With us FOREVER=They are NEVER

DONE WITH US!=For we are NEVER ALONE=even during the TOUGH TIMES=for we are

WORKS IN PROGRESS!=We have a FUTURE=and we are NEVER without HOPE=for we have the

HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD=The Son=and GOD’S ADVOCATE=to achieve his Purpose in us=

We are UNFINISHED WORKS IN PROGRESS!

“And we know=That in all things=God WORKS for the GOOD=of those who Love him=who

Have been called=According TO HIS PURPOSE”                                                                                Romans 8:28

 

Dear Holy Father God=We PRAY to  you to=PLEASE MOLD US=Into something Special=in

Today’s world=For we are the CLAY=and you are the POTTER=HELP US to be =21^st century

CHRISTIAN APOSTLES=and messengers=Of your  LOVE and GLORY=and be a WITNESS for you=

Just like =Your Prophet Jeremiah=your SAINT Peter Chrysologus=and your VERY OWN SON!

The battle for a soul

Is in the mind

That’s where the true battle

Is fought

Where the battle

Is won or lost

 

Once you rationalize

That it’s ok

That’s when you begin to act

Whatever it is

There is no turning back

 

But until it happens

A thought is just a thought

And you can turn the other way

GOD’S WISDOM=AND MAN’S FOOLISHNESS

 

Today=we get A LESSON FROM Jesus=from HIS WISDOM

Along with an instruction=GOD’S WISDOM is so much

FURTHER ALONG=than man’s foolishness

 

Today we SEE=how Jesus calls the fishermen=who are FISHING

And not catching anything=Jesus tells them=to give it=ONE MORE TRY

Can’t you just see=Peter ROLLING HIS EYES=and saying=”OK Jesus=

But we already tried”=as IF to humor Jesus+Peter and his 3 apostle

FISHERMEN=do give it one more try=and lo and BEHOLD=they CATCH

So many fish=the boat BEGINS to sink=It takes ALL of them

To bring the CATCH=into the boat=GOD’S WISDOM=and MAN’S 

FOOLISHNESS=”…….. the WISDOM of this world=is FOOLISHNESS=in the eyes

Of God……..”                                                                                                                                          1 Corinthians 3:19

 

The boat becomes SO FULL=that they begin to sink=and Peter falls                        

To his KNEES and says=”Go away from me Lord=for I am A SINFUL MAN”            Luke 5:8

Jesus simply says=”Don’t be afraid=from now on=you will FISH

FOR PEOPLE”                                                                                                                                                Luke 5:10

GOD’S WISDOM=AND MAN’S FOOLISHNESS=and isn’t that the way

IT is with us my friends=MY DEAR brothers and sister=WE think

We know better than God

 

We TRY AND TRY=to do things on our own=without the Lord=but

WHEN we get the Lord in our corner=and RELY on his strength=things

Begin to TURN our way=With The HOLY FATHER GOD and Jesus=

Things begin to happen=GOD’S WISDOM=and MAN’S FOOLISHNESS!

 

“God gave Solomon WISDOM=and very great insight=and a breadth of understanding

As measureless=as the sand on the seashore=SOLOMON’S WISDOM

Was greater than=THE WISDOM=of all the people of the EAST=and greater

Than all the Wisdom of Egypt”                                                                                                         1 Kings 4:29-30

 

“She speaks WITH WISDOM=and faithful instruction is on

Her tongue”                                                                                                                                           Proverbs 4:26

 

“But God made the earth=by his power=He founded the world

BY HIS WISDOM=and stretched out the heavens=by his understanding”                      Jeremiah 10:12

 

I WONDER=if Peter felt foolish=after Jesus taught hem=HOW to catch

So many fish=ALONG with Andrew-James-and John=did they FEEL
Foolish and “SINFUL” Like we sometimes do?=Their eyes were OPENED=

They began to UNDERSTAND=that Jesus was not just=a NORMAL MAN

He was FROM GOD=GOD’S WISDOM=and MAN’S FOOLISHNESS!

 

“But WISDOM is proved=right by her deeds”                                                                            Matthew 11:19

 

“And Jesus=grew IN WISDOM=and stature=and in favor

With God and man”                                                                                                                         Luke 2:52

 

“If any of you=lacks WISDOM=You should ask God=who

Gives generously to all=without finding fault=and it will be=GIVEN

TO YOU”                                                                                                                                                      James 1:5

 

I NEVER=wonder about the WISDOM of Jesus=or that of our

Holy Father God=They know BETTER=than you and me=They KNEW

BETTER=than the early apostles=and all the SAINTS down through history

 

Our God=our Jesus=ask us=to look at things differently=to take on

A NEW PERSPECTIVE=WE are a part of the world=But we are NEVER

Of the world=It is up to us=to LIVE OFF OF GOD’S WISDOM=

GOD’S WISDOM=not man’s wisdom

 

The Christian world view=MAY look illogical and RISKY=but it is

GOD’S WISDOM that prevails=it is GOD’S WISDOM=that dances

With joy=GOD’S WISDOM=not man’s wisdom!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our ever loving=EVER LIVING=

EVER WISE=Holy Father God!

            July 29^th-is the feast day of Saint Martha

 

            “As Jesus and his disciples were on their way

             He came to a village where a woman named Martha

             Opened her home to him

            

             She had a sister called Mary-who sat at the Lord’s feed

             Listening to what he said

             But Martha was distracted by all the preparations

             That had to be made

 

             She came to him and asked,

             “Lord-don’t you care that my sister has left me

              To do the work by herself

              TELL HER to help me!”

 

              “MARTHA-MARTHA”-the Lord answered

               You are worried and upset about many things

               But only ONE THING is needed

 

               Mary has chosen what is BETTER

               And it will NOT be taken away from her”                            Luke 38-42

THE MOST VALUABLE THING=we can Do=For another human being=Is to LEAD

Them to FAITH=In the HOLY FATHER GOD and Jesus=Faith in life=Does just NOT

MAGICALLY APPEAR=We have to HELP others find it=Develop it!=”Through ALL

GENERATIONS=We will declare your PRAISE”                                                                         Psalm 79:13

THE GREATEST LEGACY=we can EVER leave another human being=Is the

GIFT OF FAITH!=Faith in our Holy Father God=and HIS SON!

 

Often times=OUR FAITH in life=BEGINS at home=I had a FAITH-FILLED Father=Who

Was a lector=and READ on the altar=HE HAD FAITH!=And my MOTHER=While Not actively

Involved with the Church=Was a DEEP SPIRITUALLY FILLED WOMAN=Who prayed

Constantly=My parents named my sister Terri=After Saint Theresa =The LITTLE FLOWER=and

My sister Mary=After the BLESSED MOTHER Mary!=How is that=FOR FAITH?=Developing a LASTING LEGACY for God and Jesus=Through FAITH and Prayer!

“HAVE FAITH in God’=Jesus answered”                                                                                Mark 11:22

“When Jesus heard this=He was amazed at him=And turning to the crowd following him=

He said’=’I tell you=I have NOT found such=GREAT FAITH=Even in Israel’=Then the men=Who had been sent=Returned to the house=And found the servant well”                                         Luke 7:9

“I long=To see you=So that I may=Impart to you=Some Spiritual gift=To make you strong=-------

That is=That you and I=May be MUTUALLY ENCOURAGED=By each Other’s FAITH”   Romans 1:11-12

My friends=My dear BROTHERS AND SISTERS=Help others Find=and Develop along with

Their FAITH!=and Help them=BUILD A LASTING LEGACY =OF FAITH!

 

Regardless=Of HOW and WHEN our faith BEGINS=We must develop it FURTHER!=For it

To GROW in us=and so let the Holy SPIRIT OF GOD=Put you on FIRE=with faith=and SPREAD

Your FAITH to others=We must CULTIVATE our faith=and let the SPIRIT  OF GOD=Grow in us=

GROW OUR FAITH!=Build a LASTING  LEGACY of faith=and PASS your faith=On to others=

Other 21^st CENTURY APOSTLES=Of the Father=and His Son Jesus Christ!

“Therefore we=are always  confident=and  know that as long=We are at home=In the body=We

Are away from the Lord=For we LIVE BY FAITH=and not by sight”             2 Corinthians 5:6-7

“For it is by GRACE=You have been saved=THOUGH FAITH=--------and this is not from yourselves=

It is a GIFT from God--------NOT by works=so no one can boast”                       Ephesians 2:8-9

Dad=We still Must develop it=and CULTIVATE IT=through SCRIPTURES=Through Prayers=and

Through our Church=Brothers and Sisters=Help someone=FIND THEIR FAITH=In the Holy Father

God and Jesus=BUILD A LASTING LEGACY OF FAITH!=You won’t be sorry=and OUR GOD=

SALVATION=of us all!=HE GAVE US=HIS BODY TOO!

“Do NOT be afraid=Of those=Who kill THE  BODY=But cannot kill the soul=Rather

Be afraid of the ONE==who can destroy BOTH soul and BODY in hell”                                Matthew 10:28

 

The PEOPLE of his day=who hated Jesus=did Destroy his BODY=but they  could

NOT destroy his soul=For HE and the FATHER=WERE ONE!=and he RESURRECTED with

A new BODY=For he GAVE US=His body too=for ALL MANKIND!=Say YES to the

MAN-GOD==for you and me=for our SALVATION=They took his body=But they

COULD NOT=Take his soul=”While they were eating=Jesus took bread=and when he

Had GIVEN THANKS=He broke it=and gave it to his disciples=saying=’Take and eat=

THIS IS MY BODY’”                                                                                                                                      Matthew 26:26

“After all=No one=Ever hated=THEIR OWN BODY=But they feed and Care=for their BODY=

Just as Christ does the CHURCH=--------For we are Members of HIS BODY”           Ephesians 5:29-30

 

That is RIGHT=My dear brothers and sisters=If you BELIEVE in Jesus= and HIS HOLY FATHER

God=Believe  Jesus gave=His BODY for you=To form ONE Church=One church OF LOVE=

So GIVE YOUR LIFE=or at least PART of your life=Back to Jesus and the FATHER!=For he

Gave us=HIS BODY TOO!=To Form a CHURCH=To BUILD a world=Out of LOVE=”On the night=

He was BETRAYED=He took bread=and WHEN he had=given THANKS=He broke it and

Said=’This is my BODY=Which is for you=DO this in REMEMBRANCE

Of me’”                                                                                                                                                       1 Corinthians:23-24

 

That is right=MY SISTERS AND BROTHERS=Jesus ONLY had one body=the SAME as you

And I=and He gave it up=FOR US!=AND HE GAVE US=HIS BODY TOO!

SOME things I KNOW=Money doesn’t last=Possessions DON’T LAST=The ONLY

Thing that LASTS FOREVER=IS LOVE!=The LOVE of God and=The love of OTHERS!=

They are THE BURIED TREASURES in life=The Love and THE WORD OF GOD!

 

And in the 13^th Chapter of Saint Matthew’s gospel=Jesus tells us About the=KINGDOM

Of Heaven=and BURIED TREASURES=Look for THE ETERNAL TREASURES of life=

The love of God=and THE LOVE of Others!

“The Kingdom of HEAVEN=is like a TREASURE=BURIED in a field=Which a person finds=

And hides again=and out of JOY=Goes and sells all that he has=and buys

That field”                                                                                                                                                        Matthew 13:44

“He will be the=Sure foundation=For your times=a rich store of salvation=and Wisdom

And knowledge=The fear of the Lord=is the Key=To this TREASURE”                            Isaiah 33:6

Which GUIDES us to=the FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION=Of our lives=For God’s Kingdom=

What is =THE ETERNAL TREASURES of your life?=Look for THE LOVE of God=and the

LOVE OF FAMILY and Others=above all else

 

 

What are we=WILLING TO DO=To love God and=To love all others?=To Obtain the

ETERNAL TREASURES=of our God=How WILLING are we=To make the LOVE of=The

Holy Father God and Jesus=Number ONE in our lives?=VALUE God=Value family and FRIENDS

In your life!=Do you WANT to LIVE ETERNALLY=with Our God and His SON?

“You make known to me=The PATHS of life=You fill me=With JOY=In your presence=With

ETERNAL PLEASURES at your right hand”                                                                                Psalm 16:11

Your Word Lord=IS ETERNAL=It stands firm=in the heavens”                                                Psalm 119:89

“Trust in the Lord=FOREVER=for the Lord=The Lord himself=is the ROCK ETERNAL”      Isaiah 26:4

Looking for=THE ETERNAL TREASURES in LIFE!=and finding them by=LOVING the LORD

Our God and=His Son=and by LOVING all others!

 

And so my friends=MY SISTERS and MY BROTHERS=Take a LOOK at your life=and Your

Personal schedule=And ask yourself=HOW IMPORTANT is the Holy Father God=and Jesus

In your life?=How much TIME=are you willing to GIVE=In LOVING GOD and in LOVING OTHERS?

I suggest=That IF you are doing this=LOVING GOD=and LOVING OTHERS=You are NOT=all that

Far=From the KINGDOM OF GOD!=and finding ETERNAL TREASURES=In your life!

“For Where=YOUR TREASURE IS=There your Heart will be also”                                            Matthew 6:21

“But Mary TREASURED UP=all these things =and Pondered them in her heart”              Luke 2:19

“Heaven and earth=Will pass away=BUT MY WORDS=will Never pass away”              Matthew 24:35

 

My dear friends=LOOK for the ETERNAL TREASURES=In this life=and FIND THEM=By LOVING

The Father=The Son Jesus=Your FAMILY=and loving ALL OTHERS=If you do this=You  May just

Have found=THE KINGDOM OF GOD=Living right INSIDE of you=LOVE THE HOLY FATHER GOD=

And the Son Jesus=as well as others=And you have FOUND the ETERNAL TREASURES OF LIFE!

I wonder

What percentage of people

Really have a handle

On morality and ethics

In today's world

I wonder what percentage

Of people

Can actually live

With a CLEAR CONSCIENCE

Based on the evening news

And based on

Some of the stories I have heard

I have a hunch

That it is

NOT REAL HIGH

“I speak the truth in Christ-

I do not lie-

My conscience

JOINS with the HOLY SPIRIT........”                               Romans 9:1

We really have 

To LIVE in tune with God

We really 

Have to be guided

By the Holy Spirit

To have a clear conscience

“So I strive ALWAYS

To keep my conscience clear

Before God and man”                                                         Acts 24:16

What a noble thought

Paul writes with

And yet so very difficult

To do

I too

ALWAYS strive to do this

And it can only be done

IF we are guided by the Holy Spirit

And if we

Always try to be righteous

Under God

And in our dealings with our neighbors

This can only be done

If we are ROOTED

In union with God

“How good and pleasant

It is

WHEN God's people

Live together in UNITY”                                                     Psalm 133:1

“Make every effort

To KEEP the unity

Of the spirit

Through the bond of peace

There is one body

And one Spirit

Just as you were called

To ONE HOPE

When you were called

ONE Lord-one faith-one baptism-

One God and Father of ALL

Who is over all

And through all-and in all”                                                          Ephesians 4:3-5

WE PROCLAIM a universal 

And inclusive church

Yet many of us only associate

With those that are like us

People we understand 

And like

We may not like

Some people

We may not like

Some of their actions

And yet

We are ALL part of the church

ONE church-one God-and one FATHER

Like my mom used to tell me:

LOVE draws a circle

And pulls people in

And hate draws a circle

And pushes people out

WE are at least

TO ATTEMPT to pull

All people within the circle

The SPIRIT asks

Each one of us that

To attempt to LOVE

UNIVERSALLY AND INCLUSIVELY

HELP US to be there for all

=Tamar is DEVASTATED=and Lives in SHAME

 

=David is ANGRY=but does not punish Amnon

 

=Tamar’s BROTHER Absalom=WAITS 2 years=Before ARRANGING

Amnon’s murder

 

=Absalom FLEES   to Geshur

 

THE KEY LESSON=UNCHECKED SIN=and failure to administer JUSTICE=

Lead to GREATER EVIL

 

 

Chapter 14=Absalom RETURNS

 

=Joab PERSUADES David=to ALLOW Absalom to return

To Jerusalem

 

=Although Absalon RETURNS=David refuses to see him=

For two years

 

=Eventually Joab=ARRANGES a reconciliation

 

=Absalon is describes as=STRIKINGLY HANDSOME=and begins

GAINING the people’s admiration

To Help gather Information=about Absalom

 

THE KEY LESSON=Prida=Ambition=and UNRESOVED FAMILY CONFLICT=

Can DIVIDE a nation=But God=CONTINUES TO PROTECT=HIS PURPOSES

Through his Faithful servants

FAITH AND WORKS=THE STORY OF SAINT JAMES

 

 

 

 

 

 

FAITH and WORKS---the story of Saint James

 

James was the ½ brother of Jesus

And along with his brother,  John

Was called, “the sons of thunder”

 

He was

One of the three witnesses of Christ

At the transfiguration

And was present

At Jesus’ agony

In the garden

 

He never believed

That Christ was the Messiah

Until after the Resurrection

 

At Pentecost

James received the gift of the Holy Spirit

Along with the other Apostles

And set out to help

Build God’s kingdom

 

James in his writing

Points out that faith alone

Is insufficient

 

We must have faith

That manifests itself

In action or good deeds

For others

 

“What good is it my brothers

If a man claims to have faith

But has no deeds

Can such faith save him

 

Suppose a brother or sister

Is without clothes or daily food

If one of you goes and says to him

“Go I wish you well

Keep warm and well fed”

But does nothing about the physical needs

What good is it

 

In the same way

Faith by itself

If it is not accompanied by action

Is dead”                                                                   James 2:14-17

 

James also teaches us about

Patience and pure religion

He tells us that patience

Is a Godly virtue

And that a believer needs to possess it

In order to become

Perfect and complete in Christ

 

And James teaches us

That being a Christian

Is living righteously before God

And as an example

To others in the world

Particularly orphans and widows

 

And so Lord

We pray today

That we come to understand the teaching of Saint James

 

That we are saved by FAITH alone

But that real faith NEVER stands alone

That faith without good deeds

Is NOT real faith

 

James is believed

To be the first Apostle to die for the cause

 

Dear Lord

We pray that like Saint James

That the spirit of Christ

Lives in us

 Through the FAITH and ACTIONS in our lives

I have experienced the words:

“You will never live again”

 

I have heard the words

From an attractive young woman

”I love you as a friend”

Not that big of a deal now

But at the time

I thought it was the end

 

God is in my heart

 

There have been times

With not a penny in my pocket

I didn’t know

Where my next meal was coming from

 

God is in my soul

 

Have you ever been so sick

And flat on your back

Not able to get up

And heard the words

“Get up-there isn’t anything wrong with you”

I have

And it isn’t any fun

 

“For I am convinced that

Neither death nor life”

God is my life

Christ is my life

 

“Neither the present

Nor the future

Nor any powers”

I love God with my whole heart

I love God with my whole soul

 

“Neither height nor depth

Nor anything else in all creation”

I love God with my whole mind

I love God with all my might

 

“Will be able to separate us

From the love of God

That is in Christ Jesus our Lord”

( Romans 8:38-39 )
