LORD’S WAY?=The WAY you should have been doing it=IN the first

Place=”Simon Peter said to them’=’I am going fishing’=They said to him=

‘WE also will come with you’……..That night they caught nothing”                          John 21:3

 

That is WHAT HAPPENED=to the APOSTLES today=Then Jesus REVEALED

Himself to them=for the THIRD TIME==After being RAISED from the dead=and

AGAIN=they had NO IDEA who he was

 

Jesus standing there=AT DAWN=After they had been out all night=Asks them

IF they caught anything=And when they said=”NO”=He tells them to TRY AGAIN=

They are INCREDULOUS!=”Jesus said’=’THROW out your net=on the right side=Of

The boat=and you will find some’=”When they did=They were UNABLE to haul=

The net in =Because of the LARGE NUMBER of fish”                                                          John 21:6

 

And isn’t that=THE WAY it is=My brothers and sisters=WHEN we finally wise up=and

START LIVING our lives=THE LORD’S WAY=I can ONLY speak for myself=But I never

FOUND what=I needed in this life=UNTIL I started living out of love=THE LORD’S LOVE

Living in my HEART=SUCCESS=will surely come=With OUR GOD OF LOVE!

 

“Be strong and courageous=Be careful to obey=All the law=My servant Moses=

Gave you=Do NOT turn from it=To the right or to the left=That You may BE SUCCESSFUL=

WE FOLLOW the Lord=You and I will find that out too!=For we are The 21^st century apostles and CHRISTIANS of this world=So keep TRYING=to live the Lord’s WAY=IT makes way=even

 In difficult times in this world=It DID FOR ME!

For he left us two things=That are ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY=To make it

Through this world=At least for me=THE ECHARIST=His body and blood=and

HIS WORD=and the WORD=Of His HOLY FATHER GOD!=”And it happened

That=While he was with them=at table=He took BREAD=Broke it=and

GAVE it to them”                                                                                                                                Luke 24:30

 

NEITHER is more IMPORTANT=Than the other one=In my ESTIMATION=For

We need them BOTH=NOT just to survive=but also to THRIVE=in this world=

BOTH are NECESSARY FOOD for the JOURNEY=”Therefore=IT IS NECESSARY=

To submit=to the authorities=NOT only because of possible punishment=but also

As a matter of CONSCIENCE”                                                                                                      Romans 13:5

 

Our Jesus=is walking with US=And the SACRIFICE=of his BODY and blood=as

Well as his WORDS=BURN within us=The Risen Christ=Is walking with us=and

LIVING in our hearts=Living in our SOULS=and Living in our minds too=NECESSARY

FOOD=for the JOURNEY=His Body and blood=Living in us

 

“My people=Have committed two sins=They have forsaken me=The spring of LIVING WATER=

And have dug two cisterns=Broken cisterns=That cannot hold water”                       Jeremiah 2:13

“I am the=God of Abraham=The God of Isaac=And the God of Jacob=He

We need THE EUCHARIST=We NEED the body and blood=and we need the=SPIRIT

Of God=LIVING WITHIN US=It is NECESSARY FOOD=FOR THE JOURNAY=Our HEARTS

Are BURNING=as our hands are REACHING =for those SOULFUL WORDS of God

 

It does=NOT FILL=our bank accounts==but it does=FILL UP OUR LIVES UP=on the

Journey=It NOURISHES our FAITH=and awakens=THE LORD’S LOVE=that is

LIVING deep within us=These two things are=THE TWO NECESSARY INGREDIENTS

For our JOURNEY through this life=The body and blood of CHRIST=and the WORDS

Of God=Are needed to Believe and witness the RESURRECTION=They help us=not

ONLY to survive=but to THRIVE=in this world

 

“Fix these WORDS of mine=In your hearts and minds=Tie them as symbols=on your

Hands=and bind them=On your foreheads”                                                                            Deuteronomy 11:18     

“The unfolding=OF YOUR WORDS=gives light=it gives understanding=to the simple” Psalm 119:130

“Simon Peter answered him’=’Lord to whom shall we go?=You have the WORDS of

So BUCKLE UP=for the JOURNEY=My dear brothers and sisters=It is going to be a

TOUGH RIDE=But that you already know=But we will=NOT only survive=but THRIVE=

If we take the NECESSARY FOOD=THE EUCHARIST=and the WORD OF GOD!

Today we read about

The COURAGE

And conviction=

Of John the Baptist

He admonished Herod

For his INFIDELITY=

In taking his brother's wife

And he LOST his LIFE=

His very head

For doing so

“When Herod heard

John the Baptist speak=

He was very

Much PERPLEXED=

Yet he

Liked to listen to him”                                                                                         Mark 6:20

Despite John's righteousness=

Herod could have

Had John

Executed IMMEDIATELY=

Yet he WAITED until he

Made a promise

To his wife's daughter=

His DAUGHTER-IN-LAW

Meanwhile John was

UPHOLDING the GREATER GOOD

Of God

He gave up his

LIFE=for the

People of GOD'S KINGDOM

Sometimes we have

To STAND for something

In this world too

We have to

UPHOLD THE GREATER GOOD TOO

John was=and we

Need to be

UPRIGHT men and women

“In the land of Uz=

There LIVED a man

Whose name

Was Job=

This man was blameless

And UPRIGHT=

He feared God

“The Lord detests

An UPRIGHT MAN=

            Where Jesus tells the Pharisees 3 parables when they ask him

            Why he welcomes sinners and eats with them

 

            He tells the story of ONE LOST SHEEP

            He tells the story of ONE LOST COIN

            And he tells the story of ONE LOST SON

            And his LOVING FATHER

 

And in Matthew 9:12—Jesus tells the Pharisees when questioned

About eating with sinners:

 

“It is not the healthy who need a Doctor

But the sick”

 

But go and learn what this means

 

“I desire mercy not sacrifice”

 

For I have not come

To call the righteous-but sinners”

 

No matter where you are on this journey we call life

No one is so far gone as to be lost to God

 

Don’t give up on yourself because

GOD WILL NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOU

WHEN Our Lord=Is going to call us HOME=”……..DO NOT BE AFRAID”                            Matthew 28:10

 

And because of THE UNCERTAINTY=We face in our LIVES=We feel ALL

Kinds of emotions=We feel ANXIETY=We feel fear=particularly FEAR OF

THE UNKNOWN=But the Lord tells us=NOT TO BE AFRAID=because

Whatever we are FACING=Our Lord=and THE HOLY Father God=are right

There beside us=WALKING WITH US=Do not be afraid=Because of

THE UNCERTAINTY of your life!

 

ASSUREDLY=Mary Magdalene=and the other DISCIPLES=Felt all of these

Emotions=When they REALIZED=the Lord had RISEN!=As well as JOY=and

THE TRUST in him=NOT to be afraid=We should feel THE TRUST and the joy

Too=For the Lord is with us too!=”Command those who are rich in this world=

NOT to be arrogant=Nor to PUT their hope in wealth=Which is SO UNCERTAIN=

But to put THEIR HOPE in God”                                                                                                           1 Timothy 6:17

 

Jesus always said=”DO NOT BE AFRAID”=EASIER said than done=My brothers

And sisters=When we are facing=OUR UNCERTAIN LIVES=Our uncertain medical

Situations=Our uncertain finances==and our UNCERTAIN PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS=

But we can BE SURE=Things will turn out =For the BEST=For we are walking with

THE LORD OUR GOD!

 

I am sure=THE DISCIPLES=were fearful for their FUTURE=as we are TODAY=But

This much is certain=Our Holy Father God=and Jesus=are with us=as WE EXPERIENCE

That FEAR=And Our relationship with them=BRINGS us=that INTERNAL JOY=every

Day of our lives=I feel the JOY=over the fear=as I am sure you do too=BE NOT

AFRAID=in this UNCERTAN LIFE!

 

“Be SURE=to keep the commands=Of the Lord your God=and the stipulations and

Decrees=He has given you”                                                                                                               Deuteronomy  6:17

“So this is what=The Sovereign Lord says’=’See I lay a stone=in Zion=a tested stone=

A precious CORNERSTONE==For a SURE FOUNDATION=The one who RELIES on it=

That is RIGHT=My dear brothers and sisters=We can face=OUR UNCERTAIN LIVES=

With FAITH=with hope=and with LOVE=for the HOLY FATHER God=and Jesus=WALK

With us=No panic=Just HOPE AND CONFIDENCE=In our lives=Just like Mary Magdalene=

And the EARLY APOSTLES did=We are NOT AFRAID=of our UNCERTAIN LIVES=We are

LIVING with confidence in our GOD OF LOVE!

 

“For you have been my HOPE=Sovereign Lord=MY CONFIDENCE=since my youth”      Psalm 71:5

“This is THE CONFIDENCE=We have in Approaching God=That if we ask anything=

According to his will=He hears us”                                                                                                          1 John 5:14

 

That is right=my dear BROTHERS AND SISTERS=Our Lord God hears everything=

EVERY SINGLE PRAYER=So we don’t have to FEEL PANIC of fear=Because our

Lord Jesus=and His Holy Father=are with us=Do NOT FEAR=at the UNCERTAINTY OF

YOUR LIVES!=The LORD=is with us!

THE CAUSE of=The DEVASTATING Judgment of Jerusalem

 

GOD KNEW=not only the actions=but also THE THINKING of the LEADERS

And the people of Jerusalem

 

God REMINDED=the leaders and the People of Jerusalem=of  their  RESPONSIBIITY

On the Judgment=coming upon them

 

God’s RESPONSE=was to their PERSISTENT REBELLION=by the people

 

LINES 7-10

GOD’S dealing with Israel=will NOT END=when Jerusalem falls

 

They were the meat=and the city the CALDRON

 

Ezekiel TURNED this into a PREDICTION OF DOOM

Ie.   They would be cooked and devoured

 

THE DEVASTATION of Jerusalem=would be terrible=but Not the LAST WORD

Ie.   Israel and Jerusalem=Would NOT END the Babylonian CONQUEST

 

EVERYONE would not perish in Jerusalem

 

God would send many=INTO EXILE=and God would CONTINUE=to deal with

The people=AT the BORDER of Israel and beyond

GOD’S JUDGMENT=will EXTEND BEYOND the city of Jerusalem

 

-Jerusalem WOULD BE=no protection to them=Ezekiel quoted them

 

B.  GOD’S dealing with his people=AFTER Jerusalem fell=would be

ANOTHER WAY=Of how GOD REVEALED HIMSELF=to his people

 

Ie.  It was NOT God giving up on them=It was the discipline and PROMISE CONTINUING

 

C.    Since Israel=IMITATED=the surrounding pagan nations=it was APPROPRIATE

That God would EXILE them=among those nations

Pelatiah=The son of Benaiah died

Ie.   In Ezekiel’s vision=earlier in the chapter He saw this

 

Ezekiel WONDERED again=IF a remnant would remain

GOD’S PROMISE=to SUSTAIN the people=IN EXILE

 

The people IGNORED=the WARNINGS of Jeremiah and Ezekiel

 

They told the people Of Israel to leave=that they would BE CONQUERED

Ie.   Go and SERVE other GODS

 

God was down on the JEWS=but he HAD NOT FORSAKEN THEM

 

God would SUSTAIN his people=He would BE WITH THEM=In exile

(But not a SANCTUARY for them)

GOD’S PROMISE=to RESTORE Israel=and

RENEW them spiritually

 

THUS SAYS THE LORD

( Appears in Ezekiel some 200 times)

 

YAHWEH=is master and Lord=OVER his covenant people

 

I will GATHER YOU=from the peoples

God’s PROMISE=to sustain=His people in exile

 

He would gather and ASSEMBLE them=In Israel=Judgment assured

But so was RESTORATION

 

C.  Israel’s TIME of exile=would be A CLEANSING

 

TAKING AWAY their DEVOTION=to other gods=AFTER the exile

NOT the same as before=AFTER THE EXILE

 

TAKING AWAY detestable things and its abominations

 

God will give to the people ONE HEART=and put

A NEW SPIRIT within them

 

Ie.    RESTORATION and a NEW COVENANT

THE DEPARTURE of=THE GLORY of the Lord

 

CLOUD of God’s GLORY=was being CARRIED=by GOD’S THRONE

 

ATTENDED by the Cherubim

 

THE GLORY=of the God of Isreal=MOVED

With the Cherubim

 

The glory=WENT from the CENTER=of the city=to

STAND on the mountain

Ie.   PASSING by on=THE EAST SIDE of the city

 

GOD felt regret and SORROW=for the DEPARTURE

Jesus LOOKED with regret and sorrow=at THE MOUNT OF OLIVES

Ie.    THE CHOSEN PART 3=Ezekiel there

In his VISION=Ezekiel RETURNED to Babylon=and the VISION ENDED

 

Ezekiel SPOKE to=and WARNED=the ELDERS=and the PEOPLE OF ISRAEL

 

Thet were SHOCKED=by Jerusalem’s DEPRAVITY

 

THE SEVERITY=was to come on Jerusalem=and

THE DEPARTURE=Of GOD’S GLORY WAS HERE!

HE IS RISEN!

 

He was in LIFE=the maker and CREATOR OF MIRACLES!=and so

The people ALL LOVED HIM=Until the authorities CONSPIRED To kill him=

They did=But Jesus=had ANOTHER MIRACLE left in him=The

CONQUEROR of death=Even death=could not CONTAIN HIM=

Alleluia=HE IS RISEN!

 

“But your dead=will LIVE LORD=Their bodies will RISE=--------Let those

Who dwell in the dust=Wake up and=Shout for joy=-------Your dew is

Like the dew of the morning=The earth will=GIVE BIRTH=to her dead”     Isaiah 26:19

“’=Sir’=they said=’We remember=that while he=Was still alive=That

Deceiver said’=’AFTER 3 days=I will RISE AGAIN’”                                                 Matthew 27:63

“Do not be amazed at this=for a time is coming=WHEN all who are=in

Their graves=Will hear his voice=and come out=--------Those who have done=

What is good=WILL RISE to live=and those who have done=what is evil=

WILL RISE=to be condemned”                                                                                            John 5:28-29

 

And so my friends=WHAT is the MESSAGE of this MIRACLE of life=over death?=

It is of course called HOPE=and for us HIS FOLLOWERS=The MEANING of it all=

Is that of LOVE=and for that love=Jesus lived=died=and RESURRECTED=and

The PURPOSE of it all=is the SALVATION=of all MANKIND=Alleluia=HE IS RISEN!

For the BELIEVERS=like you and me

 

“Why my soul=are you downcast?=Why so disturbed within me?=PUT YOUR

HOPE in God=for I will yet praise him=My Savior=and my God”                                  Psalm 42:5

“For=IN THIS HOPE=we are saved=BUT HOPE=that is seen=is no HOPE at all=

Who HOPES=for what they already have?”                                                                                   Romans 8:24

“Command those=Who are rich in this present world=NOT to be arrogant=nor

To PUT THEIR HOPE in wealth=Which is so uncertain=But to PUT THEIR HOPE

In God”                                                                                                                                                       1 Timothy 6:17

 

MY dear friends=Jesus CONTINUES=to be alive=in ANOTHER WORLD=and for you

And ME=JESUS’ RESURRECTION=is a message of HOPE=In fact=for ALL OF US=a

GIFT from him=and from the ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD=THE MESSAGE of the

RESURRECTION for us=is for HOPE for us=as we LIVE OUR LIVES=with the love=he

TAUGHT US=while he was ALIVE=to KNOW=that there is HOPE =if we live our lives

HIS WAY

 

SO MY BROTHERS and SISTERS=Do your BEST=in living your life WITH HOPE=

And with the LOVE=That Jesus has PROVIDED for us=Both Jesus and THE HOLY

FATHER GOD=Love you with an everlasting=INFINITE LOVE

WHY ARE WE SO LUCKY

 

 

 

 

 

Today is a great day

To be alive

The sun is shining

And we feel good

 

But for many of us

In this world

It is going to be their last day

They don’t know it

But we will die

Both saints and sinners

 

But it is also a day

Where many children are being born

All over the world

 

There is a 1 in 20 chance

That we will be born in America

 

Why are we so lucky

 

Most people are born to

Non-Christian families

Muslim, Buddhist, etc.,

 

Why are we so lucky

 

In India

You are lucky to live

To be a year old

Or if you are lucky

You might live

And just be sick

Your entire life

 

Why are we so lucky

 

I don’t know the answer

But I do know

Where much is given

Much is expected

 

I do know

God gave us a tremendous opportunity

God gave us a gift-LIFE

 

What we do with our life

Is our gift back to God

HAPPY EASTER=EASTER MEMORIES

 

EASTER MEMORIES-HAPPY EASTER!

Some of my earliest EASTER memories-

Are from our house

At 3400 Massachusetts Avenue

My mom and dad

Telling me

That the Easter bunny was there

And hiding the baskets

And my two sisters and I

Searching all over the house

To find them

I'm not sure exactly why

But I think

I was

Usually the last

To find mine

And later

In the day

My mom's two brothers-John and Rege

And Aunt Stella's family

ALL coming for Easter dinner

And later on 

As the kids got older

All the families

Going to Aunt Stella's

For Easter dinner

Ham-scalloped potatoes-

Dying Easter eggs-chocolate-jelly beans

Lying in my room

Listening to “Jesus Christ Super Star”

Going to Easter Service

On Good Friday-Holy Saturday

And Easter Sunday!

But mostly

What Easter means to me

IS LOVE

FAMILY LOVE

And God's OWN LOVE

My family's love

And God's love

Have NEVER FAILED ME

“The Lord loves righteousness

And justice

The earth is full

Of his UNFAILING LOVE”                                                     Psalm 33:5

“What a man desires

IS UNFAILING LOVE”                                                       Proverbs 19:22

God's WORD is alive

Jesus is ALIVE!

LIFE over death

He conquered the grave

I remember once

When we were in church

For Easter in Maryland

At my sister Mary's

The church was totally quiet

Before Mass 

And I believe my dad

Was carrying Carley  (when she was a young baby) 

And she yelled out:

“Jesus is Alive!-Jesus is ALIVE!”

Into a dead silent church

And that's where

I wish I could be

This Easter

YELLING OUT

To this silent world on God

“GOD is alive

Jesus is alive

God is NOT dead”

BELIEVE it

Live it

LOVE God

And love one another

GOD'S LOVE NEVER FAILS

And I remember-fondly

The family arguments

On Easter Sunday

About Dan Marino

“He's a junior”-”No he is a senior”

“I think he is a freshman”

About whether or not Racquel Welech

Was 5' 0' tall or not

But mostly I remember-THE LOVE

THE FAMILY LOVE

The love of friends and churches

And most of all-I remember 

That Easter is a holiday

That celebrates

The return of Jesus Christ

To LIFE after death

A CELEBRATION of GOD'S LOVE

God's love-WHICH NEVER FAILS

DEATH AND LIFE

 

 

On that dark gray/ black afternoon

A man hung dying on the cross

Many thought abandoned by God

 

At that last moment

Even Christ thought he was abandoned

“My God, My God

Why did you abandon me”

 

But we know

That he was not abandoned

We know

That Christ

Did arise to live again

To live in eternal glory

With his Father

 

How often

Do we feel abandoned in life

 

Abandoned by our family and friends

Abandoned by our church

Maybe we even feel

Abandoned by God

 

We know through faith

That like Christ

That that

Is not the end of the story

 

We are

Never abandoned by God

We are his children

And he is madly in love with us

 

We know

Because Moses tells us so,

“For the Lord your God

Is a merciful God

He will not abandon or destroy you

Or forget the covenant

With your forefathers

Which he confirmed to them by oath”                                  Deuteronomy 4:31

 

And we know

Because our God

Is a God

Who keeps his promises

 

“For physical training

Is of some value

But godliness has value

For all things

Holding promise

For both the present life

And the life to come”                                                  1 Timothy 4:8

 

I suggest to you

That if there is any abandoning

Going on here

It is by us

By our society

By our world

 

Building a world on materialism

Building a world on sex and violence

Building a world on “scientific” miracles

And leaving God

Totally out of the mix

 

“The spirit clearly says

That in later times

Some will

Abandon the faith

And follow deceiving spirits

And things taught by demons”                                             1 Timothy 4

 

I have NO IDEA

When the end is coming

And neither does anyone else

 

Christ himself said,

“No one knows

About that day or hour

Not even the angels in heaven

Not the Son

But only the Father”                                                 Matthew 24:36

 

Abandoned by God---hardly

Us abandoning God---my friend---I think

It has already happened

 

Dear Lord---I pray---we pray

Our house is in ruins

Please come and repair it for us

For we do not know the way

 

But then---you already told us

“I am the way, the truth, and the life”

 

Help us to recommit to life Lord

Doing it---YOUR WAY
