CAN WE BREAK GOD’S HEART

 

 

 

 

Can we

A mere mortal

Break God’s heart

 

I believe we can

And I believe it

Because of God’s unwavering love

for us

 

Only someone who you love

Can in fact

Brake your heart

And we are all

Children of God

And God loves us

With an infinite love

 

The Word of God

Is in fact spirit

And he wants us

To live

According to the fruits

Of that spirit

And these fruits

Are love, peace, joy, patience

Kindness, goodness, faithfulness

Gentleness, and self-control

 

He wants us

To live these qualities

And not lives of

Coldness, indifference, ingratitude, and rejection

Of him and those around us

 

But we are children of God

And like any loving parent

God forgives us

Over and over and over again

 

So what can we do

To earn God’s love and forgiveness

Nothing

 

All we can do

Is to strive to become better each and every day

And know God still loves us

Today=Jesus tells us

That he has LOVED ALL of us=

Just the SAME WAY=The Father

HIS very own Father=has loved him

 

And he tells us=TO REMAIN

In that love=

BY LOVING ONE ANOTHER

REMAINING IN=

GOD’S AND JESUS’ LOVE

 

“IF you keep my commandments=

You will=REMAIN IN MY LOVE…….”                                                                                 John 15:10

 

We all KNOW THEM=

From Matthew=what

The TWO GREATEST commandments are

 

LOVE GOD=above all else

And LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR=as ourself

UNFORTUNATELY=many of us

Seem to NOT know them=much less

DO THEM

 

We live in a

ME-FIRST=selfish world=

We have to get back=to

LIVING that love=to PRACTICING HUMILITY

By putting God and others

ABOVE=our very own selfish interests

 

REMAINING IN=GOD’S AND JESUS’ LOVE

Practicing humility=by

Putting others first

 

“HE GUIDES THE HUMBLE=

In what is right=and

Teaches them his way”                                                                                                         Psalm 25:9

 

“These are the ones

I look on=with favor

 

THOSE WHO ARE HUMBLE=

And contrite in spirit=and who tremble

At my word”                                                                                                                            Isaiah 66:2

 

Jesus is CLEAR=

In letting us KNOW=

HOW we are to=LOVE ONE ANOTHER

 

It is=by

Laying our lives down

For OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

We can do that

By DYING for someone else=LIKE JESUS DID

 

Or we CAN do that

BY LIVING our lives=THROUGH

The GIVING of our lives

 

Like the SAINTS do=Like missionaries

Priests=nuns=ministers=and like medical people

Police men and women=and service people

 

PRACTICE HUMILITY=REMAIN IN

GOD’S AND JESUS’ LOVE=live for others

 

“If you=REMAIN IN ME

And my words=REMAIN in you

Ask whatever you wish=and it

Will be done for you”                                                                                                          John 15:7

 

“Let no debt=REMAIN OUTSTANDING

Except the continuing debt=

To love one another=for

Whoever loves others=has fulfilled the law”                                                                    Romans 13:8

 

Jesus’ love=in our world

IS ALIVE=every time

WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER=every time

We put=GOD’S LOVE for another

Above our own interests

 

We love God=we HONOR God

And we=REMAIN IN GOD’S LOVE

By loving one another

ABOVE all else

THE FULFILLMENT=OF IT ALL!

 

The  PEOPLE of=His day=Knew Jesus was something SPECIAL=Many thought=

He was a prophet!=Based on his words and his ACTIONS=and HIS MIRACLES!=

“Some in the crowd=Who heard these WORDS=Of Jesus said’=’This is truly THE PROPHET’-

Others said’=’THIS IS THE CHRIST’”                                                                                                    John 7:40-41

 

The people of his TIME=Knew what a prophet sounds like=and they KNEW=He was  indeed=

At the very least=A PROPHET=They were=AWAITING a prophet=But Jesus=was MORE

Than  that=He was=THE FULFILLMENT=OF THE LAW!=”Love does  NO HARM=to a neighbor=

Therefore LOVE is=THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW”                                                                  Romans 13:10

And Jesus was=PERFECT LOVE=In this fulfillment=NEVER DOUBT=Jesus was=IS The

FULFILLMENT of the LAW!=THE FULFILLMENT OF IT ALL!

 

Yes our Jesus=was NO ORDINARY PROPHET=For he was=THE FULFILLMENT=of the prophets=

The ANOINTED ONE=He would FULFILL IT ALL!=and the LAW OF LOVE!

“I WILL FULFILL=my vows=to the Lord=In the Presence=of ALL his people”         Psalm 116:14

“A  LONGING FULFILLED=is sweet to the soul=But fools detest=Turning form evil”   Proverbs  13:19

“Do NOT think=I have come to Abolish the LAW=or the PROPHETS=I have not come=to abolish

Them=BUT TO FULFILL THEM”                                                                                                              Matthew 5:17

 

Jesus  WAS/IS THE MESSIAH=for ALL of time=for all of the WORLD’S HISTORY=The Anointed

ONE=who delivered the WORDS=who DELIVERED promise and wisdom=to ALL of the people=

For all of TIME=He is the LIVING=BREATHING words of life=and LOVE=That never ends

“Every day=I was with you=Teaching in the Temple courts=and you did not arrest me=BUT

The sacraments=MUST BE FULFILLED”                                                                                               Mark 14:49

MINISCULE WAY=are FULFILLING the Law=Just like Jesus did=IF we are LOVING the Holy Father=

Jesus=ABOVE all others=and loving our NEIGHBORS as ourself=You and I are  21^st century

APOSTLES=Of Jesus and of love=For THE WORDS of Jesus and HIS FATHER NEVER END!

“Fix these WORDS of mine=In your hearts and minds=TIE them as symbols=on your hands=and

BIND them on your foreheads”                                                                                                      Deuteronomy 11:18

“Heaven and earth=will pass away=BUT MY WORDS=will NEVER pass away”        Matthew 24:35

 

Jesus is THE CULMINATION=of ALL of the prophets=He is the culmination of Jonah=Joel=

Amos=Isaiah=Hosea and Micah=and every prophet EVER=as well as=All the apostles and

Disciples=all the SAINTS=and every human being=that ever EXISTED==He is=THE FULFILLMENT=

OF IT ALL!=of perfect  LOVE=NO ONE else is coming back for you=EXCEPT for Jesus=and

HIS HOLY FATHER=of divine LOVE!=Jesus is=THE ANOINTED ONE!=THE FULFILLMENT=OF

IT ALL!

We are

WAITING ON GOD'S WILL WITH PATIENCE

 

WAITING FOR GOD'S WILL 

WITH PATIENCE

We all want to do

God's WILL-of course-

But DISCERNING the will

Of God is difficult

We have to WAIT with courage

And with PATIENCE to hear

God's will-and sometimes-

It takes a LONG long time

“WAITING for the Lord with courage”                                                     Psalm 27:14

And we wait in in patience

It SEEMS like we are

ALWAYS waiting for something

In life

WHEN we are young

We want to be older-

We want to drive-

We want to vote-

We want our own FAMILY

We CAN'T WAIT for our own children

To get married-and

To have kids

For retirement-to JOIN AARP

We PRAY to God

For certain things

And sometimes we just

have to WAIT

For GOD'S ANSWERS

“A person's wisdom

YIELDS patience

It is one's glory

To overlook an offense”                                                                          Proverbs 19:11

“Therefore-

As GOD'S chosen people

Holy and dearly loved

CLOTHE yourself with compassion-

Kindness-humility-and PATIENCE”                                                                    Colossians 3:12

When we “WAIT”

For the Lord

To move us

IN a certain direction

We REMEMBER

Not to get ahead

Of God's PLANS

For our lives

WAITING on God's WILL

With patience

Waiting for the Lord

To move us in

A SPECIFIC DIRECTION

Waiting on

The WORD OF GOD

“Wait for the Lord

Be STRONG and take heart

And WAIT-for the Lord”                                                                                   Psalm 27:14

“I wait for the Lord

My whole being waits”                                                                        Psalm 130:5

“Yet the Lord

LONGS to be gracious

To you

Therefore-he will RISE UP

To show you compassion

For the Lord

Is a God of justice

BLESSED are all

It takes a lot

Of courage to wait

FOR GOD'S WILL

To be KNOWN to us

Dear Lord-HELP US to be patient

And WAIT for the discernment 

Of God's WILL-before-

We MOVE in a particular direction

Help us to HAVE

The courage and the wisdom

To WAIT PATIENTLY for your plan

Rather than TRYING to figure

IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT

 

 

 

 

 

In the still of the night

Is when it comes to mind

Of what has transpired

The memories of what I once was

The reality of what I am

And the flickering hopes of what I can still become

 

It isn’t easy to have so much taken away

To turn disaster into sun’s shining rays

When all the world keeps revolving

While your life is dissolving

And there’s not a kind word left at your door

There’s no time for understanding

The whole world is in a world

 

The whole world is in a hurry

But where they are going I cannot say

Me, I am going to take me time

After all, we are all going to die

 

You might as well take your time

And keep your goals and dreams in sight

Don’t get lost in that human cobweb

People will hurt you and leave you in a fright

 

I’ve lost many a battle in the last few years

But as long as I’m alive, I haven’t lost the war

I’ve lost many of my physical abilities

But I still got the talent to make me soar

And if my life ever becomes ground

On the hopes and dreams of which it was found

JESUS LOVED WOMEN=AND WIDOWS=and

SO DO I

 

Did you KNOW=That in Jesus’ day=MANY of his FOLLOWERS=were Women and

WIDOWS?=In Jesus’ day=Women were considered to be=SECOND CLASS CITIZENS=

But Jesus was ALWAYS COUNTER CULTURAL=and many of the WOMEN=DONATED=

In fact=To his TEACHINGS and HIS MINISTRY!

 

So WHAT was it=About Jesus=That DREW both men and WOMEN=as well as WIDOWS=and

Even children?=Jesus LOVED every human  being=Regardless of race-ethnicity-occupation=

OR BACKGROUND=He had many women=AMONG his closest friends=Mary Magdalene=

Was his BEST FRIEND=and WHAT ABOUT=the other women?=

“As Jesus=and his  disciples=Were on their way=He acme to a Village=Where a WOMAN=

Named Martha=Opened her home to him=She had a sister=Called Martha=who sat at the

Lord’s feet=Listening to what he said”                                                                                                    LUKE  1:38-39

“WHEN they came back=From the tomb=They told all these things=To the eleven and to

ALL the others=It was Mary Magdalene=Joanna=Mary the mother of James=and the others=

With them=Who told this to the apostles”                                                                                         Luke 24:10

“NOW Jesus loved Martha=and her sister and Lazarus”                                                                John 11:5

 

Before I go on=With Jesus’ COMPASSION for widows=I want to say=I have LOVED and

RESPECTED WOMEN=all of my life=and I also have a DEEP RESPECT for widows=Who have

TURNED OUT to be=GREAT FRIENDS to me=In fact=When I was young and DATING=The young girl’s

Mother=Usually liked me=MORE than the girl did==And Jesus’ RESPECT for women and widows=

Was passed on down to his apostles=Jesus LOVED the WOMEN and the WIDOWS=and so

DO I!

 

“HE DEFENDS the cause=Of the fatherless=and the WIDOW=and LOVES the foreigner residing=

Among you=Giving them food and clothing”                                                                           Deuteronomy 10:18

“AS Jesus looked up=He saw the rich=Putting their gifts=Into the temple treasury=He also saw

A POOR WIDOW=Put in two=VERY small copper coins=’Truly I tell you’=he said=’THIS POOR WIDOW=Has put in more than=All the others=ALL these people gave their gifts=Out of their

Wealth=But she out of her poverty=PUT IN=all she had to live on’”                                  Luke 21:1-4

“RELIGION that God OUR FATHER=Accepts as PURE and faultless=is this=To look after=

Orphans and WIDOWS=and their distress=and to keep oneself=From being Polluted by

JESUS  LOVED=THE WOMEN and the WIDOWS=and so DO I!

 

Jesus has MESSAGES OF HOPE AND REDEMPTION=for all the widows=and ALL THE WOMEN=

TWO further examples of this are yet to come=ONE is in Chapter 7=Of Saint Luke’s GOSPEL=

WHERE Luke tells the story=Of How Jesus is FILLED WITH COMPASSION=When the only

Son of the Widow Nain=is being buried=and Jesus brings the YOUNG MAN=Back to life=

Jesus said’=’Young man=I say to you GET UP!’=and the dead man=Sat up and began to talk=and

Then Jesus gave him=BACK TO HIS MOTHER”                                                                                       Luke 7:14-15

 

And FINALLY=Jesus breaks down=ALL THE CULTURAL BARRIERS yet again=One more time=When

He speaks to an=IMMORAL WOMAN==In Samaria of all places (John 4:24-25)=and this woman

BECOMES TRANSFORMED TOO

 

JESUS LOVED THE WOMAN=and the WIDOWS=At a time=When it was NOT the norm( I DO TOO)!=

Dear Lord=WE PRAY=for you to HELP US to=LOVE AND RESPECT ALL=In our life=for all of US=are

ONE=IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD!=Jesus loved=THE WOMEN and the WIDOWS=and I do too!

AMBASSADOR’S OF GOD’S LOVE

(The Holy Father God’s and Jesus Christ’s)

 

In chapter 5=of 2 CORINTHIANS=Saint Paul tells us=that

We are=AMBASSADORS OF GOD’S LOVE=and we are therefore

CHRIST’S AMBASSADORS=and Our Holy Father God’s=and

HE is therefore=making AN APPEAL to others=through us

He implores others though us=to BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD!=

“We are therefore=CHRIST’S AMBASSADORS=as though God=were

Making=HIS APPEAL through us=We implore you on Christ’s behalf=

Be reconciled to God”                                                                                                                   2 Corinthians 5:20

 

Do you know=what AN AMBASSADOR IS?=It is an OFFICIAL
REPRESENTATIVE=Of someone or something=That means as

A CHRISTIAN=You are an OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE=of our Holy

Father God’s and Jesus’ love=in this world=I don’t know about you=

But I think sometimes=I forget=as does 90% of the CHRISTIANS=in this country

And world=Maybe 75%=but it is a lot

 

Where is all the LOVE?=Where have all the REPRESENTATIVES of

God’s and CHRIST’S LOVE=gone to=in this world?=LOVING GOD above

ALL ELSE=Loving OUR NEIGHBOR as ourself

 

“For Christ’s love=COMPELS US=Because we are convinced=that

ONE died for all=and therefore all died”                                                                           2 Corinthians 5:14

 

“And he died for all=that those who LIVE=should no longer=

Live for themselves=BUT FOR HIM=who died=for them and

WAS RAISED AGAIN”                                                                                                                          2 Corinthians 5:15

 

We are=AMBASSADORS of GOD’S LOVE=in this world=we are

REPRESENTATIVES of God’s love=in this world=IF we are TRUE

“For I am=THE LEAST OF THE APOSTLES=and do not even deserve=to

Be called AN APOSTLE=Because I persecuted the Church of God”                         1 Corinthians 15:9

 

“……..Built on the foundation=OF THE APOSTLES=and prophets=with

Christ Jesus=Himself as the chief cornerstone”                                                                         Ephesians 2:20

 

So with so MANY PEOPLE=falling away from the Church=in today’s

World=with so many OF US=Having the WRONG IDEA=as to what it means

To be a CHRISTIAN/or Catholic=or what it should be=It is=UP TO US=to be

REAL EXAMPLES=Of the Holy Father God and Jesus=AMBASSADORS OF GOD’S

LOVE=LIVING LOVE=and giving LOVE=in this sometimes empty world

 

“…….I am the=GOD of Abraham=The God of Isaac=and the God of Jacob=

He is NOT=the God of the dead=but the God=OF THE LIVING”                                          Matthew 22:32

 

So be a LIVING EXAMPLE=of our Holy Father God’s LOVE=of Christ’s

Love=You are THEIR AMBASSADORS=You are the LIVING EXAMPLES of=

God’s love=IN THIS WORLD

 

Do it like Christ=with GENTLENESS and meekness=SPEAK with God=

Speak with Jesus=in your Heart and mind=for You are=THEIR AMBASSADORS

OF LOVE=in this world

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our EVER LIVING=ever loving=

Holy Father God=the CARRIERS OF LOVE=to us in this world

That more than

The material things

He brings his family

 

It is the intrinsic values

That he teaches his children

That are most important

 

A father should know

He will fall short

From time to time

That we love him

And that it is up to his children

He was

The Father of all Fathers

The Father of Jesus

Our Lord

 

The angel of the Lord

Appeared to Joseph

 

“Do not be afraid

To take Mary as your wife

Because what is conceived in her

Is from the Holy Spirit”

 

Are you serious Lord

 

Could you imagine

How you would react

How I would react

How anyone would react

To this---in today’s world

 

Joseph was a righteous man

He did not want

To expose Mary to public disgrace

So he stood by her

 

Then the angel

Told Joseph

To take the child and Mary---to Egypt

And he did this too

 

He was

A carpenter by trade

And as his human Father---

Along with Mary

Was responsible for developing the human traits and character

Of Jesus

 

Our Saint Joseph

A man of righteousness

A man of honor and faith

The Patron Saint of Fathers

Who stood tall

In the midst

Of it all

Mom passed away16 years ago today---NOT a day has passed where I have not

Thought about her

 

A few weeks before she passed---we were both crying and holding each other

I said,

“No son ever loved his mother more than I love you.”

She answered,

“Maybe Jesus.”

 

If I have ever done- or ever do---one thing of significance in this world---it is because

Of her---and the love that she and my father gave to me---miss them both so very much

 

Today March 18^th, 2025-is the 16^th year since my mom has passed-SHE is AS ALIVE in me-as she has ALWAYS HAS BEEN-LOVE HER SO MUCH!

GRANDFATHER MURPHY

 

 

 

 

I remember, well, my grandfather Murphy.  I used to sit on his lap in the

Living room, when I was a young boy.  He was kind.  I remember that he

Reminded me of Abraham Lincoln.  But not as tall.

 

He died when I was six-one month before my seventh birthday.  My mom

Said I had became withdrawn and would hardly even talk.  My mom said that

My first grade school teacher called and said, “what’s wrong with Bob?  He

Acts like he just lost his best friend?”  My mom said that I did.

 

As a young boy, this was my first real encounter with death.  I still remember

Him.  He was kind, loyal, loving, and smart.

 

My grandfather had only a 4^th grade education.  Yet he went to Carnegie Tech

( now Carnegie Mellon ), to study later in his life.  As I get older, I find myself

More and more, thinking about the people that I love ( or loved me ), in this life.

 

Granddad, this one is for you.

            On this day-he died in 1961 from colon cancer---I was six and at the time

            Of his death-he was my best friend-it was my first encounter

            With death-I still miss him

Almighty God and Father,

Help all families to live

As the Holy Family

Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

Teach us through them

The sanctity of human love,

THE LIFE STORY OF SAINT PATRICK

 

 

There has been much controversy

Surrounding the life of Saint Patrick

Both as to what he did

And what he didn’t do

 

Patrick was British by birth

He lived during the fifth century

His father was on the town council

And was a deacon

His grandfather was a priest

 

When he was young

He was captured by Irish pirates

And was made a slave for 6 years

 

During these years

Patrick began to pray

And draw close to God

Which was in contrast to his earlier years

When he “knew NOT the true God”

 

After the 6 years

He escaped or was freed

And did some traveling

But almost starved to death

 

Patrick returned home to his family

A changed man

And trained to become a priest

 

After some contact with the Papacy

Patrick succeeded Palladius

To be the first bishop of the Irish

To believe in Christ

 

Patrick worked principally in Northern Ireland

Organizing the church

And had many missionary journeys

From there

 

Patrick was not especially learned

But lived with a sincere simplicity

And deep pastoral care

 

He worked to abolish paganism and idolatry

And made no distinction

Among classes of people

HE LOVED ALL

 

He himself was ready and willing

To accept imprisonment and death

For his FAITH IN CHRIST

 

Because of being a slave and fugitive

He learned to completely trust God

 

The historical Patrick is much different

Than the legendary Patrick

And much more interesting

 

He DID NOT convert Ireland single-handedly

In fact---it took MANY evangelists

And many generations to accomplish

 

But make no mistake

He was the PRIMARY INSTRUMENT of God

In getting it all started

 

He remains the most popular Saint

From Ireland

And he is Ireland’s patron

To this day

 

His cult spread form Ireland to Europe

In the middle ages

And in modern times

To the United States and Australia

Where it still flourishes on his feast day
