TODAY is a world day of PRAYER-DEAR LORD we have the situations in the Ukraine, Venezuela,
and on the streets in every city in America-DEAR LORD-we pray for PEACE in our world

And we pray that you expand our hearts to include the hungry-the homeless-and the naked

ON the surface-it seems we live in a hopeless world-BUT we KNOW there is ALWAYS HOPE
if we believe in God

DEAR Lord-please help us to change our world

IT is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in the love and HOPE you have for us

LOVE YOU ALL!

CHARITY

CHARITY

CHARITY is defined as the generous actions
Or donations to aid the poor, the ill, or the helpless

And it usually something given to
A person in need
It is simply
A generous work or kindness

And it is
In its simplest form
THE LOVING of your neighbor
AS yourself

And it is
The second commandment;
“LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF”

“Do NOT seek revenge
Or bear a grudge
AGAINST one of your people
But LOVE your neighbor
As yourself
I am the Lord” Leviticus 19:18

Be charitable
To your neighbor

“Jesus replied,

'LOVE the Lord
Your God
With all your heart
And with all your soul
And with all your mind'

This is the first
And GREATEST commandment
And the second
Is like it

'LOVE your neighbor
As yourself'

ALL the law
And the prophets
Hang on
These two commandments'” Matthew 12:37-40

BE KIND
To your neighbor
Do unto them
As you would
Have them do unto you

BE CHARITABLE

In fact
Saint Vincent DePaul
says that being kind
IS the surest way
To becoming a Saint

And he SHOULD KNOW
As he is-A SAINT
And is one
Of the kindest individuals
Who ever lived

“And ABOVE all things
Have fervent charity
Among yourselves
For CHARITY shall COVER
The multitude of sins” 1 Peter 4:8

Be kind-BE CHARITABLE
HELP someone in NEED

And in Luke 10
We see one of the greatest stories of charity
In the bible

A man is beaten and robbed
and left for dead
Along the side of the road

A priest and Levite pass by
And do nothing
But along comes a Samaritan:

“He went to him
And bandages his wounds
Pouring on oil and wine

Then he put the man
On his own donkey
Took him to an inn
And took care of him

The next day
He took out
Two silver coins
And gave them
To the innkeeper

'LOOK after him,' he said
'And when I return
I will reimburse you
For any extra expense
You may have'” Luke 10:34-35

A charitable and kind act
To be sure
No less authority
Than Jesus, says,

“GO AND DO LIKEWISE” Luke 10:37

I beg to differ
With the man who said,
“Charity begins at home”

CHARITY BEGINS in our heart

Do all
The good you can
For all the people
That you can
For we shall pass
This way-just once

BE CHARITABLE!

We NEED to learn to LIVE in the NOW-let go of our PAST mistakes and the "good old days"-
and not look to the future

We need to learn to live moment by moment-to learn that there are only two moments that
really matter-this moment and the moment GOD calls us home

Dear God of ALL TIME-help us to VALUE the present moment and to be OPEN to your
GRACE now

It is a GREAT moment and day to be ALIVE! in GOD'S LOVE for us

“One Moment In Time”

Whatever happened

Whatever’s wrong

Walk away

Give it a rest

It’s just one moment in time

A moment in time

Out of a whole life

One moment in time

Don’t let it

Cut you like a knife

It’s just one moment in time

Whatever is wrong

Whatever has happened

Don’t let it

Bring you down

It’s just one moment

One moment in time

A moment in time

Out of a whole life

A moment in time

Out of all eternity

Whoever

Or whatever it is

Is it really all that important

It’s just

Out of God’s master plan

journal/YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM GOD

Sometimes we FORGET that God is working in you and me-and that HE is a GREAT merciful GOD-
We do not come to A STATE OF GRACE by anything that we did or any GOODNESS in us-ONLY
by ACCEPTING GOD and HIS kingdom saying yes IN FAITH

Dear Lord WE PRAY-thank you for YOUR HEALING MERCY-The story of Jonah and the
GREAT FISH is a powerful story of GOD'S LOVE and MERCY-

It is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE! in God's LOVE AND MERCY for us

YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM THE LORD
( JONAH-A FISH TALE )

Do you know the story
Of Jonah and the GREAT fish (whale)

The Lord came to Jonah
And said:

“Go to the great city of Nineveh
And preach against it
Because its wickedness
Has come up before me” Jonah 1:2

But Jonah becomes afraid
And runs away from God

Jonah was an Old Testament prophet
From Galilee-growing up
About three miles from Nazareth

The assignment
That God gave Jonah
Was a particularly tough assignment
Because Assyria and its capital Nineveh
Had a brutal and oppressive reputation
And had been long-standing enemies
Of Israel

Jonah chooses to flee
And boards a ship
Headed for Tarnish
With some other sailors

BUT when the other sailors
Find out
He is running from the Lord
They throw him overboard

YOU CANNOT RUN
From the Lord
YOU CANNOT HIDE
From the Lord

At that point
A GREAT FISH swallows Jonah
And Jonah
Is in his belly
For three days and 3 nights

Jonah eventually repents
Of his sin
And the great fish
Vomits him to dry land

You cannot
Hide from the Lord

Jonah then
Makes the 500 mile trip to Nineveh
And LEADS the city
In a great revival

Nineveh repents
And Jonah becomes angry
At the Lord’s compassion

Jonah prays:
“Oh Lord
This is not what I said
When I was still at home

This is WHY
I was so quick to flee to Tarnish

I KNEW
That you are
A GRACIOUS and compassionate God
SLOW TO ANGER AND ABOUNDING IN LOVE

A God who
Relents
From sending calamity

Now Oh Lord-take away my life
For it is better for me to die
Than to live” Jonah 4:2&3

But the Lord our God
Has a lesson for Jonah
As he does for you and for me

And that is
HE IS A MERCIFUL GOD

And that God
Does HIS greatest work
HIS GREATEST MIRACLES
Through the least likely candidates

People like Jonah
PEOPLE LIKE US
And what we consider
To be impossible
GOD SEES IT
AS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY
To teach us he is

ALL powerful
ALL merciful
ALL compassionate

YOU CANNOT HIDE from the Lord
Nor should we want to
He may just have a MIRACLE
In store for you
And for me

journal/THE LATCH IS ON THE INSIDE

HAVE you said YES to God=EVERY day and in every way-God asks us to belong to HIS
kingdom of love

THE KINGDOM of GOD is God's PRESENCE within us-if you haven't already said "YES"
to God-please consider saying yes to him today

We cannot earn it-ALL we can do is ACCEPT it-it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S
kingdom of love for us

LOVE YOU ALL!

THE LATCH IS ON THE INSIDE

In the 22^nd chapter
Of Saint Matthew’s Gospel
Jesus again---tells us a story
He tells us
That the Kingdom of God
Is like a wedding banquet

How many of you
Like going to the weddings
Of your relatives or friends

Getting all dressed up in your Sunday best
Having a fancy dinner
Listening to music
Just having an evening of fun and relaxation

I know I do

So Jesus sends his servants out
To invite everyone to the wedding
But they all decided to do other things

They even kill the servants
And the king becomes enraged

The Kingdom of God
Is like that

There is an open invitation to us all

So the King sends out his servants again
And they bring in everyone they could find

Both good and bad off the streets

“But when you give a banquet
Invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind
And you will be blessed
Although they cannot repay you
You will be repaid
At the Resurrection
Of the righteous” Luke 14 13 & 14

So always remember
We are invited in to God’s Kingdom
We are ALL chosen by God
Whether or not we accept this invitation
Or not
Is up to us

PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

PUTTING ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

It is
A TOUGH WORLD
That we live in

A world full of danger

It seems
Like someone or something
Is constantly shooting daggers at us

In the old days
The knight
Would put on
The metal or steel armor
To PROTECT HIM

And in today's world
I believe the policemen
STILL put on bullet-proof vests

But for us Christians
To protect us from evil
In this cruel cruel world
We are called to put on
A DIFFERENT KIND of armor

THE ARMOR OF GOD

“Put on
The full armor of God
So that
You can take your stand
Against the devil's schemes” Ephesians 6:10

There you have it
The armor that we need
IS ARMOR
That can stand up
NOT only against flesh and blood evil
But the dark forces of evil
In our world-Satan

“For our struggle
Is not against
Flesh and blood

But against the rulers
Against the authorities
Against the powers
Of this dark world-Satan
And against the spiritual forces
Of evil
In the heavenly realms

Therefore
PUT ON the full armor of God
So that
When the day of evil comes
You may be able
To STAND your ground” Ephesians 6:12-13

You say fine
But WHAT is it
That can
Withstand ALL of these things

The armor IS LOVE
My friend
THE LOVE OF GOD
And THE LOVE OF NEIGHBOR

For as 1 Corinthians 13:8 tells us
LOVE NEVER FAILS

And James 1:17 says:
EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT
Is from ABOVE

And that is what Jesus' life was
IT WAS PERFECT
As He DEFEATED every injustice imaginable
INCLUDING humiliation and death

So our job
Is to UNITE our life
With Jesus=as much as possible
And HOLD ON
For the ride of our life

JESUS left behind HIS OWN spirit for us
And in Galatians 5:22
Paul tells us
WHAT the fruit
Of the spirit is:

“But the fruit of the spirit
IS love, joy, peace, patience, kindness
Goodness, faithfulness,gentleness,and self-control
AGAINST such things-there is NO LAW” Galatians 5:22-23

I suggest to you
That LIVING with these qualities is

PUTTING ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

And if you WEAR these
You have NO NEED
Of steel armor
Or bullet-proof vests

If you put these on
You are putting on
THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

And if you do this
Evil will not defeat you
And if it does
You will be vindicated

AS SURELY AS JESUS HIMSELF WAS

journal/THE WORTH OF A CHILD

In Mark 10:15---Jesus says, "Amen-I say to you-whoever does not accept the kingdom of God
like a child-will not enter it"

But what does that mean-I think it means-just that we MUST accept Jesus's teachings with TOTAL
TRUST-the way a child accepts his own mother and father-and that GOD does love us and that
WE WILL eventually enter his kingdom

It is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE and to be A CHILD OF GOD today-and KNOW that God
does LOVE us and accept us

“The Worth of a Child”

Every child

Should have a future

Every child

Should have hope

Every child

Should have love

Stop the abuse

It can’t be tolerated

There are no excuses

In destroying

The life of a child
