I think sometimes we forget that LENT-the time preceding CHRIST'S death and RESURRECTION
is NOT only a time of repentance-but it is ALSO A TIME to INCREASE our love for our brothers and
sisters
DEAR LORD-please help me to see LENT as not only a time of being sorry for my sins-but also as a
time for more love
it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE! in GOD'S LOVE for us
GOD'S LOVE DOES NOT FADE AWAY
Everything in life
FADES AWAY-or perishes
ALL that is-EXCEPT
God's love
GOD'S LOVE
Sustains me
Through every situation
“The Lord sustains
The humble
But casts the wicked
To the ground”
Psalm 147:4
Even trees
Planted near a flowing river
Change their colors these days
Autumn reminds us
That leaves do fade
But God's love
NEVER FADES AWAY
He evens sustains
The fatherless
And the widow
“The Lord
Watches over the alien
And sustains
The fatherless and the widow
But he frustrates
The ways of the wicked”

GOD'S LOVE
Does not fade away
Those that live
Off of God's word
Will never perish
“My sheep
Listen to my voice
I know them
And they know me
I give them eternal life
And they shall NEVER perish
No one can snatch them
Out of my Father's hand”
John 10:27-28
We may die
But we will find
ETERNAL LIFE
By LIVING off the WORD OF GOD
God's LOVE
Never fades away
And while
We may not find
earthly glory
We will find heavenly glory
And we will find
GOD LIVING INSIDE OF US
And that gives us peace
And the Lord our God
OUR SHEPHERD
Will lead us home
To that glory
“And when
The chief SHEPHERD appears
You will receive
THE CROWN OF GLORY
That will NEVER FADE AWAY”

And that crown of glory
IS GOD'S LOVE
LIVING inside of you

journal/THE BREAD OF LIFE
The very word "LENT" is derived from a word that translates into springtime-and springtime is a VERY
REAL REMINDER that even during the long cold dark winter-that NEW LIFE is still BEGINNING-
That the cycle of life is CONTINUALLY moving forward
AND SO TOO with the ETERNAL WORD OF GOD-by LIVING in FAITH and in the WORD
of GOD-that brings NEW LIFE into our hearts that we can carry God's message into EVERY CORNER
of the world
it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S ETERNAL LOVE for us
THE BREAD OF LIFE ( is Eternal Life )
“I am the Bread of Life
He who comes to me
Will never go hungry
And he who believes in me
Will never go thirsty”
John 6:35
If you saw a fountain
And someone told you
That if you drank
From that fountain
You would have
The gift of eternal life
I wonder
How many of us
Would rush to that fountain to drink
I know that I would
Jesus tells us,
“For my Father’s will
Is that everyone
Who looks to the Son
And believes in him
Shall have eternal life
And I will raise him up
On the last day”
How many of us
Want ETERNAL life
I would dare say
Almost all of us
How many of us
Really believe that Jesus is THE CHRIST
The ONE AND ONLY SON OF GOD
I would dare say
NOT many of us
For if we really and truly believed in him
A GOD OF LIFE,
A GOD OF LOVE,
AND A GOD OF TRUTH
Would we have a world
Filled with war, murder, rape, child-abuse,
And only the Lord knows what else
Eternal life is simply
A life everlasting with God
It is the choice of God and love
Over hatred and sin
Jesus took the bread
Gave it to his disciples and said,
“This is my body”
He then took the cup
Gave it to his disciples and said,
“This is my blood
The blood of the new and everlasting covenant
Which is poured out for many”
Eternal life means simply
A life everlasting with God
Take on
The Body of Christ
Take on
The Blood of Christ
Choose God and love
Over the sins of this world
What would we do
Where would we go
Without God and Jesus in our lives
Simon Peter knew the answer,
“Lord to whom shall we go
You have the words of eternal life
We believe and know
That you are the Holy One of God”
John 6:68

GOD STANDS on the highest peak on the highest mountain in the world and says, "COME
TO ME........"
IT is our choice whether we go to him or not
IT IS a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE FOR US!
WITNESS
9-01-13
“Come to Me”
Come to me
All you
Who are weary
And heavy laden
And I will
Give you rest
Come to me
All you
Without a lover
Or without a significant other
Or even any friends
And
I will give you rest
For my yoke is easy
And my burden is light
Come to me
All you
With a severe or a chronic illness
And you will find rest
For your souls
Blessed are the poor in spirit
For theirs
Is the Kingdom of God
Come to me
You without any money or any healthcare
All of you
Without a home or any food
Blessed are those who hunger
And thirst for righteousness
For their yearnings
Will be filled
Come to me
All you
Who are weary and heavy burdened

For “I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except

journal/TEMPTATION
The last words Jesus heard from HIS FATHER before going into the desert to face the devil
PRESUMABLY were:
"THIS is my BELOVED SON in WHOM I am we ll pleased"
JUST think HOW well pleased HIS FATHER was WITH HIM after RESISTING the devil for 40 days and nights-AND just think HOW WELL PLEASED OUR FATHER will be with us-IF we are able to resist temptation this Lent for THE LOVE OF GOD
IT is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us!

TEMPTATION
Have you ever
Come face to face
With the person or thing
That is the absolute worst thing
In the world for you
Where every fiber
Of your being is saying
I want this person
Or I want to
Follow my own selfish impulse
And give in to that temptation
I suggest to you
That that is where you meet God
At the deepest darkest level
Of our own souls
Temptation is something
That tests a person’s character
That either makes you
Or brakes you
Look at what happened
With Adam and Eve
We all know
What happened there
If you are being tempted
In some area
Of your life
Consider it a compliment
The devil hasn’t gotten control of you yet
So when the devil comes after you
And he will
You have but one weapon
The Word of God
Jesus said,
“It is written
Man does not live on bread alone”
Life comes from the spirit
Jesus said,
“Worship the Lord your God
And serve him only”
Choose light over darkness
Jesus answered,
“Do not
Put the Lord your God
To the test”
Choose God
Over the flesh
You are never going
To be free from temptation
Life is an ongoing journey
But if we choose
Light over darkness
If we choose
God over the devil
If we choose good over evil
We will
Not only survive
But we will thrive
On God’s Word
And in the Lord

And strength of character”
“NO TEMPTATION has seized you except what is common to man
And GOD is faithful-he will NOT let you be TEMPTED
Beyond what you can bear-but when you are TEMPTED
He will also provide a way out
So that you can stand up under it”
1 Corinthians 10:13
“When TEMPTED-no one should say-“God is tempting me”
For God cannot be TEMPTED by evil-nor does he TEMPT anyone”

YOU HAVE AN ABUNDANCE COMING
YOU HAVE AN ABUNDANCE COMING
Do you have
An abundance
Of GOOD things
In your life
An abundance of good people
I DO
And I really
Can't explain it
EXCEPT for
God WORKING for me
Through the good people
FAMILY, friends, neighbors, and churches
That have stepped up
For me
AND AN ABUNDANCE
Of spiritual blessings
“Watch out
Be on your guard
Against all kinds of greed
A man's life
Does not consist
In the abundance
Of his possessions” Luke12:15
And that is the way
It is with me
In fact
I have NO material possessions
When my mom
Died four years ago
I thought I was
Going to have to move
To a little efficiency apartment
And I had no idea
How I was
Going to make ends meet
But my sister-Terri-
Has stepped up for me
And relative after relative
Friend after friend
Neighbor after neighbor
Has stepped up
For me
ALL in
Their various ways
BLESSINGS IN GOD
And blessings in people
You have
AN ABUNDANCE COMING
How about you
Have you died
With the crosses
In your life
And UNITED yourself
With Christ
IF you
Have died with Christ
In this life
And have united
Your life with Christ
You WILL
As Christ did himself
RISE AGAIN
“Those who have done good
Will rise to live
And those who have
Done evil
Will rise to be condemned” John 5:29
Have you done GOOD
With your life
Have you
UNITED your suffering
With Christ
YOU WILL rise again
You have an abundance
OF BLESSINGS coming
And if you
Haven't done good

Up to this point
It is never too late
To change
And dedicate your life
TO GOD AND CHRIST

And whoever lives

Isaiah 58:10 talks about giving bread to others-but nourishment is NOT just physical-
it is SPIRITUAL too
WE can ask ourselves who in need of encouragement
WHO needs a hug and my companionship
And WHO is just in need of PRAYER
There is a "MAGIC" in giving bread to others
IT is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE! in GOD'S LOVE for us
AND in our LOVE for each other

SAINT JOHN OF GOD
SAINT JOHN OF GOD---patron Saint of the sick-hospitals
And of book sellers and printers
1495-1550
Saint John of God
Was born in Portugal
And was founder of the Brothers Hospitallers
He joined the mercenaries
And fought for Spain
Against the French and Turks in Hungary
When he was in the army
He gave up ALL practice of religion
After the disbandment of his troop
He worked as a Shepherd
At the age of 40
He rededicated himself to God
And helping the poor
He suffered a period of “madness”
Running through the streets
Tearing out his hair
And giving away his Sacred books
From the bookstore where he sold them
His friends---most notably John of Avila
Calmed him down
And he rededicated himself
To the sick and the poor
He rented a house---
Filled it with sick poor people
And for over 10 years
Devoted himself to taking care of his patients
He had never-ending energy
But this was balanced by prayer
His final illness
Was brought on
When he saved a man from drowning
In a flood
He died at the age of 55
Before the altar at his hospital chapel
Today---he is known as the PATRON SAINT
Of the SICK---of HOSPITALS---and booksellers and printers
Today---March 8th---is his feast day
