“WE proclaim Christ crucified........” 1 Corinthians 1:23


Did you know that South Korea is ONLY 29 per cent Christian and-of that-11 per cent Catholic-despite that-the cross is VERY PRESENT there-especially at night


Jesus made the SUPREME SACRIFICE OF LOVE for us in life and in death-”GREATER LOVE has no man than this-that he LAY DOWN his life for his friends” John 15:13 (THAT is right-you and me are Jesus' friends-as are the people of South Korea-and BELIEVERS-and non-believers alike all over the world)


So this Lent and this Easter-spend a few minutes with the CRUCIFIX-the symbol of CHRIST'S ignominy all over the world-BUT also the SYMBOL OF his love for us


And maybe you will see-as I have seen-throughout my life-that CHRIST-”is the way-the TRUTH-and the LIFE” John 14:6


There are ONLY about 2.8 billion BELIEVERS of the 7 billion people of this world-and maybe you will see your life RESURRECTED over your daily problems-for there is life in JESUS


“THEREFORE go and make disciples of ALL NATIONS---baptizing them in the name of THE FATHER-and of the SON-and of the HOLY SPIRIT” Matthew 28:19


IT IS a great day to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and in EVERY DAY of our lives










CHRIST RESURRECTED-OUR LIVES RESURRECTED




Do you know
What it means
To resurrect


GENERALLY-it means
To RAISE from the dead
And bring back to life


And SPECIFICALLY
It means-Jesus Christ's RESURRECTION
Over physical death


BETRAYAL by a friend
Couldn't kill him
Denial by another friend
Couldn't kill him
And the running away
Of all the rest of his friends
Couldn't kill him


NOT even torture, humiliation,
And physical death
Could contain him


Jesus Christ
TRIUMPHED over it all
He triumphed
OVER THE GRAVE


Jesus said
To Mary Magdalene
And Mary-the mother of James
And Salome


“Be not afraid
You seek Jesus of Nazareth
Who was crucified


He is RISEN
He is not here
Behold the place
WHERE they laid him


Go your way
Tell his disciples and Peter
That he goes before you
Into Galilee


There you will find him
As he has said
Unto you” Mark 16:6-7


What have you died to in your life
PHYSICAL HEALTH
Financial obligations
A personal relationship/or relationships


UNITE your life (your crosses)
With Jesus'
And you will be raised
Not only in this life
But AFTER your physical death


“Then he said to his disciples
'IF any man
Comes after me
Let him deny himself
And take up his cross
And follow me” Matthew 16:24


If we do this
If we UNITE
Our crosses in life
We can OVERCOME
Our misfortunes
In this life


Our lives resurrected
THROUGH CHRIST'S LIFE


For if
We have been planted together
In the likeness of his death
We shall also be
Also in the likeness
Of his RESURRECTION” Romans 6:5


Be dead to sin
BE ALIVE to Christ
And you will be made
NEW again
In this life


CHRIST RESURRECTED
OUR lives can be resurrected
BY UNITING our crosses to Christ's
In this life


You will be made
NEW AGAIN


“As Christ
Was RAISED up
From the dead
By the GLORY of the FATHER


Even so
We shall RISE again” Romans 6:4


“Therefore
IF any man
Be in Christ
He is a NEW CREATION


OLD things are passed away
BEHOLD-all things

CHRIST RESURRECTED
You too

Luke 15-is without a doubt ONE of my most favorite parables-about ONE lost sheep-one lost coin-and
about one lost child-A BELOVED SON-and the JOY that arises WHEN the lost has BEEN FOUND


THERE are so many things that are lost in our life-that really NEED FINDING-and I am NOT talking about wealth or material possessions-or our sexuality-NO I AM talking about the things that really matter:


PURPOSE in life
HUNGER for God-for the HOLY ONE
And TRUST in Divine PROVIDENCE among other things


WE LIVE and think we have to be constantly busy-but what we really NEED to do is to take a step back-and think about the really important things in life-THE ABOVE-THIS LENT-I encourage you to
really SPEND some time in REFLECTION-for IF you feel lost-there is NOTHING LOST -that can't be
FOUND BACK in GOD-the RESTORER of LOST THINGS


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and a great day for RECLAIMING OUR LIVE THROUGH GOD

NO ONE in this world KNOWS WHY we are doing something-or WHY we are not doing something-EXCEPT GOD and ourselves-but it is important-for we do NOT want to be like the Pharisees and the scribes-doing something-or not doing something purely for show


AND GOD always knows our true motivation


WE should ALWAYS REMEMBER that I/we have neither the ability or the RIGHT “to PROBE the mind or TEST the heart” of another-JUDGMENT RESTS solely in and on GOD-our job is to get OUR MOTIVATIONS RIGHT


it is A GREAT DAY to be alive in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day to leave the judging to GOD-and KEEP our motivations PURE

When we do something
In life-rightly or wrongly
NOT only does our action ( or inaction ) count
But also does


The purity of our heart


Have you ever done something
When someone else was looking
SOMETHING GOOD
So that someone else might see


I have
POOR motivation to be sure


But I have also done good things
For people-silently
I think this is
What God wants


Let GOD be our reward
( if there is to be a reward )


PURITY OF HEART


“Create in me a pure heart
Oh God
And renew a steadfast spirit
Within me” Psalm 51:10


We should do good
Because it is good
Not to look good
In the eyes of others


Purity of heart
Motivated by God


“Blessed are the pure in heart
For they will see God” Matthew 5:8


“Finally brothers
Whatever is true
Whatever is right
Whatever is lovely
Whatever is admirable
If anything is excellent or praiseworthy
Think about such things


Whatever you have learned or received
Or heard from me
Or seen in me-PUT INTO PRACTICE
And the God of peace
Will be with you” Philippians 4:8-9


I urge you
My brothers and sisters
To do good
And do so


For the right reasons


For the goodness of God
And the peace of God
Transcends all understanding

“INTO YOUR HANDS-I commend MY SPIRIT” Psalm 31:6


In the PASSION of Luke-we HEAR those same words-just BEFORE Jesus dies-Did you ever REALIZE that Jesus' words were from psalm 31:6-the very first of its two lines-I didn't UNTIL RECENTLY


The NEXT words of the psalm are:
“YOU will REDEEM ME-O Lord-O FAITHFUL GOD”


Jesus KNEW the old testament scripture INSIDE and out-HE KNEW exactly what he was doing-HIS PRAYER was MORE than resigned surrender-he knew he was REDEEMING THIS WORLD-and he knew NEW LIFE-through HIS RESURRECTION was just ahead


THIS LENT as we suffer though his death-and our sins slowly die-may a BRAND NEW YOU/and NEW LIFE RISE in Christ's RESURRECTION this Easter and beyond


FAITHFUL GOD-we know that your REDEEMING LOVE is right around the corner in OUR LIVES


it is a GREAT to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for US and a GREAT DAY to realize HOW MUCH GOD
loves the people of this world-”FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD........”

“Come now-let us SET THINGS RIGHT-says the Lord” Isaiah 1:18




IS the boat of your life on a STRAIGHT AND STEADY course-Or has the boat of your life gotten off kilter for some reason-DO YOU LONG to make things RIGHT with God and right with others?


THE PRIORITIES that I try to keep for my LIFE-is loving God and LOVING family-TRYING my darndest to LIVE the two COMMANDMENTS of Jesus and living a life of FORGIVENESS and KINDNESS-that doesn't mean I can't get off kilter-but it does mean I AM less likely to do so


BUT HEALTH problems and age catch up with everyone-And we must REMEMBER that GOD is the true CENTER OF HEALING and that science-medicine-and physicians are just GOD'S TOOLS-it is a PROVEN FACT that those who BELIEVE in a higher power and PRAYER-do much better in the long run


BUT WHERE-most people go wrong is that they put money-possessions-and POWER above GOD-or succumb to sexual temptation ABOVE God and FAMILY


I have NO IDEA what-IF ANYTHING-may need to be made straight in your life-but I do KNOW a couple of questions that you might want to ASK YOURSELF:

1. HAVE I strayed from my INTENTION to live my faith?
   
2. ARE GOD and CHRIST number ONE in my heart and is the PATH a straight and steady one?
   

It is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD LOVE for us and a great to KEEP LOVE of God and LOVE of others-number 1 and 1A in our lives






RIGHT WHERE?




Do you RECOGNIZE Jesus
In the ordinary course
Of your day


Maybe you say
You have NEVER SEEN God
NEVER felt God


In the 20^th chapter
Of Saint John's gospel
Mary Magdalene
Did not recognize Jesus
AFTER his Resurrection


“WHEN she had said this
She turned around
And saw Jesus there


But did NOT KNOW
It was Jesus”


Mary Magdalene
Did not recognize Jesus
AFTER seeing him


So WE must be FORGIVEN
IF we cannot
FEEL OR SEE the presence
Of Jesus
In today's world


WHERE is Jesus?
RIGHT WHERE?


MAYBE God and Jesus
Come simply
As a COMFORTING PRESENCE
Right when
We NEED him most


“I will fear

MAYBE he
Is just there
In some of my
MOST BROKEN and desolate moments


NOT something
That I can see
Just a comforting presence
TO BE FELT


RIGHT WHERE?


RIGHT THERE
In the PRESENCE
Of the HOLY SPIRIT
Who Christ left behind for us


“And walking
In the fear
Of the Lord
And in the COMFORT
Of the Holy Spirit
Was multiplied” Acts 9:31


RIGHT WHERE?


WHERE is the
PRESENCE OF GOD?


Right there
In the presence
Of the scriptures


“For whatsoever things
Were written for them
Were written
For our LEARNING


That we
TROUGH PATIENCE AND COMFORT
Of the scriptures
MIGHT HAVE HOPE” Romans 15:4


Like Mary
We might NOT RECOGNIZE
The PRESENCE of God and Jesus


But like Mary
WE FEEL his presence


We feel his presence
In his spirit
LEFTBEHIND


We feel
His presence
THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES


Maybe even in a HUG
Or a well-timed phone CALL
From a FRIEND


RIGHT WHERE?

“BE MERCIFUL-just as also your FATHER is MERCIFUL” Luke 6:36


DO you ever get annoyed by people? DO YOU ever run into annoying people during the course of your day? MY ANSWER is yes and yes-I have come to REALIZE that sometimes being annoyed is a good thing-ACTUALLY A BLESSING


For in Luke 6:37-it says-


“STOP JUDGING and you will not be judged-STOP CONDEMNING and you will not be condemned-FORGIVE and you will be forgiven”


FOR the TRUTH is-as often as we are annoyed by others-WE ANNOY others just the same-AS I have said before-FORGIVENESS-is a most difficult task-especially WHEN we are the ones who are perfect
-lol-SERIOUSLY-the thing GOD calls us most to do is LOVE-and to LOVE difficult people-we can't do it on our own-we have to OPEN ourselves up to GOD'S LOVE-and here is WHERE the BLESSING part comes in-when we are MERCIFUL with and love others-GOD IS more merciful with us-OF COURSE-he ALWAYS LOVES us -all of us-and as his disciples-that is what we are CALLED UPON to do-LOVE AN FORGIVE ALL PEOPLE


Dear GOD-we THANK YOU for the annoying people in this world-FOR THEY OPEN US up WIDER to your LOVE


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day to LOVE AND FORGIVE the difficult people in this world-HELP US ALWAYS to GIVE MERCY






GIVE MERCY




It is EASY
To sit in judgment
Of another


To CRITICIZE them
For this
Or for that


What is NOT
So easy
Is to GO the extra mile
And to GIVE someone mercy


What exactly is mercy


MERCY is compassion
Shown to an offender


It is forgiveness
EXTENDED to someone
Who doesn't deserve it


That is what
Jesus did for us


He lived and died
And RESURRECTED
For our sins


For us
Who didn't deserve it


HE TOOK OUR PLACE


In his first encounter
With his apostles
AFTER the resurrection
After they all
Deserted them
He says to them


“PEACE be with you
As the Father
Has sent me
So I send you” John 20:21


The human reaction
Would be
To be angry
At the apostles
But the GODLY reaction
Is to BLESS them


And MORE than that
He challenges us
To extend that SAME MERCY
To one another


“Be merciful
Just as your Father
Is merciful”


How can we be merciful
Towards others


Basically
By FOLLOWING CHRIST'SEXAMPLES
And living with
Corporal and spiritual acts
Of mercy


FEEDING the hungry
Clothing the naked


Visiting the sick and imprisoned
Sheltering the homeless
COMFORTING the sorrowful


And MOST of all
PRAY-PRAY-PRAY for others
And encourage them
And build them up


REFRAIN form gossiping
About them


And ALWAYS
Give someone another chance


After all
God has given us
Chance after chance


Give someone MERCY
Give them another chance


DON'T PASS JUDGMENT


“For I desire mercy
NOT sacrifice
And ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of God
Rather than burnt offerings” Hosea 6:6


“HE has showed you
Oh man-what is good


And what does the Lord
Require of you


To act justly and LOVE MERCY
And to walk HUMBLY
With your God” Micah 6:8


Give someone another chance
Give mercy


GIVE MERCY TODAY

“And he was TRANSFIGURED before them-and his clothes became DAZZLING WHITE........”
Mark 9:2-3


TODAY-we celebrate the feast of the TRANSFIGURATION-Jesus' APOSTLES must have been STUNNED to see their friend TRANSFORMED before them-IN MY own life-I AM stunned-by becoming CLOSER to God-the way he has TRANSFORMED me from living by the flesh and worldly values-to LIVING by GRACE and the SPIRIT OF GOD-THE PRESENCE of God in my life has taken my life from the ordinary to the EXTRAORDINARY-to seeing by FAITH-the MIRACLES of God everywhere and everyone-at least the POTENTIAL FOR them


ORDINARY LIFE goes on-but the POTENTIAL for MIRACLES is everywhere-we can see LIGHT in the darkness-we can see and FEEL a new light in the darkness-and with it A DEEPER SENSE OF LOVE living within us


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day for feeling that GOD AND CHRIST can take the ordinary moments of our life and weave them into something that becomes MIRACULOUS-weave them into something that BECOMES EXTRAORDINARY

CHRIST TRANSFORMED---OUR LIVES TRANSFORMED






Picture this


Jesus took the Apostles
Peter, John, and James
Up the mountain to pray


Two men appeared
Moses and Elijah---they spoke with Jesus
Jesus’ face changed
And his clothes became a dazzling white


A voice came out of the cloud and said,


“This is my Son---Whom I have chosen
---listen to him” Luke 9:35


Jesus knows
He must descend the mountain
But Peter ( and the other Apostles say ),
“Master---it is good for us to be here
Let us put up three shelters
One for you---one for Moses and one for Elijah” Mark 9:5


God’s way---Christ’s way
Or our own way


There was a famous song called---
“I did it my way”


We ALL
Want to live our life our own way
But Christ---Because he was God’s Son
Knew he was to do it
His Father’s way


So Jesus
Does in fact
Come back down the mountain
Goes on with the journey of his life
And he---the SOURCE of ALL life
Does die
Only to be Resurrected again


Like Peter, James, and John
And all the other Apostles
We have intense moments of intimacy
With God


But like Jesus, we must descend the mountain
And continue
On our daily journey through life


God’s way
Or do we insist on living our life
Our own way


Jesus begins
To tell Peter and the other Apostles
About his coming death and Resurrection


Peter responds,
“Never Lord
This shall never happen to you”


Then Jesus says,
“Get behind me Satan
You are a stumbling block to me
You do not have in mind
The things of God
But the things of man” Matthew 16:23


God’s way
Or our own way


Love God with your whole heart and soul
Love your neighbor as yourself
Forgive 70 x 7
Feed the hungry
Give drink to the thirsty
Clothe the naked


God’s way
Or our own way


Dear God---Dear Lord


We pray to you
For your grace
And for your transforming light
And presence
To enlighten our vision


And to transfigure--- our lives
Literally and figuratively
Just as you did with JESUS---
YOUR ONE---AND ONLY SON
