I completely IDENTIFY
With Saint Paul
Who was ELATED with God


I FEEL the JOY in him=
Do you?


But he also felt SUFFERING=
With it=as I do=I have and
My BODY has been in complete
PAIN=since my illness TURNED CHRONIC
When I was 22


Let us look at WHAT
Paul Finds himself
GOING THROUGH


“................Because of the
Abundance of revelations
A THORN in the flesh


Was given to me
An angel of Satan
To beat me


To keep me
Form being too ELATED” 2 Corinthians 12:7


Saint Paul=the missionary=
Saint Paul=the APOSTLE to
The GENTILES


ELATED WITH GOD=as I am=
And I HOPE you are too


FEELING THE JOY of Saint Paul


“May the God of hope
FILL you with all
JOY and peace


As you trust in him


So that
You may overflow
With HOPE


By the POWER
Of the HOLY SPIRIT” Romans 15:13


“IN all my prayers
For ALL of you


I always PRAY
WITH JOY


Because of your partnership
In the GOSPEL
From the first day
Until now


Being CONFIDENT of this
That HE who began
A good work
In you


Will carry it on
To completion
UNTIL the day of Christ Jesus” Philippians 1:4-5


FEELING THE JOY
Feeling the ELATION
Of SAINT PAUL


But also feeling SUFFERING
Of the body


But GOD helps us
ENDURE the suffering
Because of the JOY
He gives us


“THREE times I pleaded
With the Lord
To take it (the THORN)
AWAY from me


But he said to me
'MY GRACE is
SUFFICIENT for you


For my POWER
Is made PERFECT IN WEAKNESS'” 2 Corinthians 12:8-9


The MORE time we spend
IN PRAYER=the more JOY-FILED
We become


Saint PAUL=Not to mention=
Jesus=TAUGHT us that


And even though we face SUFFERING=
WE know=I KNOW=that the POWER
Of Jesus Christ=and JOY=
LIVES IN US

THE HOMELAND OF OUR HEART


NO matter how LONG we
Have been away=it is
Always NICE to get
BACK HOME AGAIN


Whether a few hours=a day=
Or a week=or even a month


It is nice to be
In HOME TEERITORY once again


So just IMAGINE
How much greater
The JOY of the people
FORCED form their homeland was


Just LISTEN to the words
Of the prophet Amos


“I will plant them
UPON their
Own ground


Never again
Shall they be plucked


From their land
I have given them.........” Amos 9:15


When we are HOME
We have instant HOSPITALITY
We are at home
With the LORD
In our hearts


WHEN we establish
A SOLID relationship
With God=we are always
At HOME


The HOMELAND OF OUR HEARTS=
Home is WHERE the heart is
And our HOME is in
THE HEART OF GOD


“I will give THANKS
To you Lord
With all my HEART


I will tell
Of all your WONDERFUL DEEDS” Psalm 9:1


“My son
Do not forget
My teaching


But keep my commands
IN YOUR HEART” PROVERBS 3:1


“The GOAL of this command
Is LOVE


Which comes
From a PURE HEART
And a good conscience


And sincere FAITH” Proverbs 3:1


NO MATTER
What is happening
On the outside


We can RETURN
HOME again and again
To the HOSPITALITY
Of the Lord


Our Lord=the HOLY ONE
Resides in our heart=
IN OUR HEART


Where he keeps us
SAFE and secure
At all times


“Fear of man
Will prove
To be a snare


But whoever trusts
In the LORD
IS KEPT SAFE” Proverbs 29:25


Yes=SAFE in=
IN THE HOMELAND
OF THE LORD'S HEART

ONLY GOD'S MERCY

ONLY GOD'S MERCY
We LIVE in a world
Where many people
OPPRESS others
Oppress others physically=financially=
And in every other way
The PROPHET=Amos=PROMISES
That God will punish those
Who HARM the poor
And the helpless
And that people=ALL PEOPLE=
Even the oppressors of
Our society
Will HUNGER for GOD'S WORD
Only mercy=only the MERCY
OF GOD=makes the difference
IN THIS WORLD
"My SOUL is consumed

For your ordinances

Today we CELEBRATE the
PURITY and MERCY of
Saint Maria Goretti
A twelve-year-old girl=
Who just five weeks
After her first HOLY COMMUNION
Was raped and murdered by
Alessandro Serenelli
As she was being raped=
She said=
"NO=God does NOT wish it!
It is a sin=You would go
To hell for it"
She LIVED 24 more hours
And forgave him
For his crime against her
FINALLY=Serenelli=repented
After Maria VISITED HIM
In a dream
He learned to long
For GOD'S JUSTICE
He learned to
LONG for the MERCY OF GOD
It is ONLY in
The MERCY OF GOD
That we can FORGIVE
Grievous crimes like that
"Remember=Lord=
Your great mercy and LOVE
For they are
From old"                                                                                                                      Psalm 25:6
"In all their distress
He too was distressed
And the angel
Of his presence
Saved them
In his love and MERCY
He redeemed them
He lifted them up
And carried them
ALL the days of old"                                                                                                           Isaiah 63:9

COME HOME TO THE LORD

COMING HOME TO THE LORD!
We have ALL been PARALYZED
By somthing in this world=
Paralyzed by fear
Paralyzed by somehing either of
Our own making=and/or something
That has been THROWN
DOWN upon us
Or we can bea paralyzed
By EXPERIENCES or by personal
Histories and relationships
Paralyzed by our INABILITY
To FORGIVE others or ourselves
"..............
He then said to the PARALYTIC
'RISE=pick up
Your stretcher=
And go home'"                                                                                                                                 Matthew 9:6
The man was paralyzed
By a physical disability
But Jesus forgave him
And he MOVED ON
How easy it is
For us to FORGET
That Jesus forgives us too
We just have to WALK
With Jesus=walk all the
WAY HOME
"Even the sparrow
Has found a HOME
And the swallow
A nest for herself
Where she
MAY have her young---------"                                                                                                            Psalm 84:3
"The Lord's curse
IS on the house
Of the wicked
But he BLESSES
The HOME of the righteous"                                                                                                         Proverbs 3:33
"As Jesus
And his disciples
Were on their way
HE came to a village
Where a woman named Martha

And isn't that what we NEED
To do=Like the paralyzed man
OPEN our hearts and HOMES
To Jesus
And WALK with him
ALL the way home
"So Jesus said to
The paralyzed man=
'Get up=take your mat
And go home'
And the man got up

WALKING with the LORD!
COMING HOME to the LORD!
"The ONE
Whose walk is blameless
Who does
What is righteous
Will speak the TRUTH

Yes=let us NOT BE PARALYZED
Let us WALK with the Lord=
And COME HOME to you LORD
Dear Lord=give us the STRENGTH

MANY have given their LIVES
For our=for MY physical
Freedom=and I thank them=
I SALUTE THEM


And I thank my LORD and
SAVIOR Jesus Christ for my religious
FREEDOM=as I THANK all those
Who have FOUGHT for the physical
FREEDOM that I have


I am SO BLESSED
WE are so blessed
OUR COUNTRY is so BLESSED


“But if you would
OFFER me burnt offerings


Then let JUSTICE
Surge like water


And GOODNESS=like
An unfailing stream” Amos 5:23-24

EMPHASIZED that FREEDOM
Is the ability
Not simply to
DO whatever we want


But to do WHAT IS RIGHT


MILLIONS of AMERICANS have chosen
To give up their lives
NOT because they wanted to


But because it was/IT IS

CAN live in a FREE WORLD

SCARS=OUR SURPRISING SIGNS
OF STRENGTH


WE have been in ALL
Kinds of battles
In our life


Physical battles=emotional battles=and
SPIRITUAL battles=and they have
LEFT their SCARS on us
And in us


They are EVIDENCE of adventures=
Mistakes=and they are SIGNS
Of our SURPRISING STRENGTH


To DO what we NEVER
Thought we could do


“Then he said to Thomas=
'Put your finger here and
SEE my hands
And BRING your hand
And put it into
My side................'” John 20:27


Jesus was SHOWING Thomas
His sides of
His crucifixion=
His scars
And his RESURRECTION
Over death


Thomas' RESPONSE
“Thomas said to him=
'My Lord and my GOD'” John 20 :28


And shouldn't that be
OUR RESPONSE to Jesus'
Strength and POWER over death
Shouldn't that BE our response
To all of our OWN SCARS=
Physical=emotional=and spiritual
That Jesus has WALKED with us
Through our life


Our own SURPRISING STRENGTH
As we have been
CARRIED by the LORD


“You yourselves
Have seen what I did
In Egypt


And how I CARRIED you
On EAGLES' WINGS
And BROUGHT you to myself” Exodus 19:4


“For prophecy
NEVER had its origin
In human will


But prophets=
Though human
SPOKE FROM GOD


As they were
CARRIED along by the HOLY SPIRIT” 2 Peter 1:21


And Jesus said to Thomas=
Whose FEAST=
We celebrate today


“Then Jesus told him=
'Because you have
SEEN me
You have believed


BLESSED are they
Who have not seen
And yet have BELIEVED” John 20:29


What SURPRISING STRENGTH
Thomas must have SHOWN
from his scars


As he RECOVERED from this=
And as an apostle of Jesus
WENT on to PREACH the gospel


So can't we OVERCOME our
Scars in this world
And be MESSENGERS of Jesus too


SCARS=OUR SURPRISING SIGNS OF STRENGTH


“I can do ALL things
Through him
Who GIVES ME STRENGTH” Philippians 4:13


Like Thomas=let us FIND OUR STRENGTH
In the SCARS of the
STENGTH OF JESUS

Our world has
WITNESSED it all


SHAME=heartache=violence=killing=
ALL in the name of religion=
What a SAD TESTIMONY
To our God
To our LORD


The monotheistic religions
Of Abraham have let us down
AT TIMES


How has Judaism=CHRISTIANITY=
And ISLAM gotten it
SO WRONG


When the MERCY OF GOD
Is CENTRAL to the SCRIPTURES
Of each of these faiths


THE MERCY OF GOD
ENDURES FOREVER


“WHY do you
Recite the statutes
And PROFESS my covenant
With your mouth


Though you hate discipline
And CAST my words
BEHIND YOU?” Psalm 50:16-17


The PSALMIST reminds us today
That it is NOT ENOUGH
To recite words of the
Sacred texts


We must have strong faith
And a CONVICTION
That God's WORD


Can and does
RESIDE in the human heart


GOD'S WORDS=the MERCY of them
LIVES in the human heart


“And the WORDS
Of the LORD
Are flawless
Like silver
PURIFIED in a crucible


Like gold refined
Seven times” Psalm 12:6


“SIN is not ended
By MULTIPLYING WORDS


But the prudent
Hold their tongues” Proverbs 10:19


“Heaven and earth
Will pass away


But my WORDS
Will NEVER PASS AWAY” Matthew 24:35


We MUST take GOD'S words
Of LOVE AND PEACE=in ALL
The major religions


And let them RESIDE is us
REFLECT on them


And let them come through
IN our thoughts and actions

Dear LORD we PRAY=
