LORD YOU TAKE OVER


Are you trying and trying
To rebuild your life
Overcome your obstacles
And lift your life
Back up to God


Not by our own power
Can we do so
Not by our own power---


If we are looking for our lives
To be lifted up
Not by our own power
Can it be done
Only by the power of God


“Yours oh Lord
Is the greatness and power
And the glory and the majesty and the splendor
For everything in Heaven and earth
Is yours
Yours, oh Lord, is the kingdom
You are exalted as head over all
Wealth and honor come from you
You are the ruler
Of all things
In your hands are strength and power
To exalt and give strength and all” 1 Chronicles 29:11 & 12


Lord you take over
You take over all
Lord we human beings don’t know what we are doing
We are headed
For a fall


The disciples had been fishing all night
Yet caught nothing at all
He said,
“Friends have you caught any fish”
“No,” they answered
“Throw your net
On the right side of the boat
And you will find some” John 21:5 & 6


They did
And a great catch was made---153 in all


Lord you take over
We are headed for a fall


Lord---we try and try
To overcome our health difficulties
We try and try
To make our financial ends meet


Lord you take over
We can’t do it alone


We try and try
To make our marriage
And personal relationships work
We want the best
For our family and our kids
Sometimes it doesn’t work out
The way we intend


Lord you take over
We can’t do it
With our own power
We can’t do it alone


Saint Paul said,
Three times I pleaded
For the Lord
To remove the thorn in my flesh
But the Lord said to me,
“My grace is sufficient for you
My power is made perfect
In your weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9


Lord we are weak
But you are strong
Not by our own power
Can we do it


Lord you take over---PLEASE---Take over all

THE BANQUET OF GOD
(ALL ARE WELCOME)


I LONG for the
BANQUET OF GOD=where-


When all people=regardless
Of FAITH=will be WELCOME
To=in the KINGDOM OF GOD


Where all will be welcome
And ALL will be LOVED
By God


“Rather=when you HOLD
A banquet


INVITE the poor
The crippled=the lame=
The BLIND” Luke 14:13


ALL of us=regardless of
Our HANDICAPS=
Are welcome


In the banquet of God
IF we are BELIEVERS


“Whoever WELCOMES one
Of these little children
In my name
WELCOMES ME


And whoever welcomes me
Does not welcome me
But the one
Who sent me” Mark 9:37


“For if you
DO these things
You will never stumble


And you will receive
A rich WELCOME
Into the eternal kingdom
Of our Lord
And SAVIOR Jesus Christ” 2 Peter 1:10-11


WEDNESDAY=I am leaving
For a FAMILY WEDDING
In Pittsburgh, Pa.


What a FEELING it is
To see your FAMILY=to KNOW
That you are WELCOME
And LOVED BY ALL


And that IS what
It is like in the
FAMILY OF GOD


To feel like FAMILY
To be WELCOME by
All the BELIEVERS


“Anyone who WELCOMES you
WELCOMES ME


And anyone who welcomes me
WELCOMES the ONE
Who sent me” Matthew 10:40


It is so great
To be a BELIEVER
In the LOVE OF GOD


It is so great to BELONG=
To know that we
Are loved


By God
And by our FAMILY


At the BANQUET of God
We are all
CHERISHED GUESTS
We all BELONG


And NO ONE is ever
Turned away


“For none of us
LIVES for ourselves alone


And none of us
DIES for ourselves alone


If we live
We LIVE for the Lord


And if we die
We die for the Lord


So whether
We live or die
We BELONG to the LORD” Romans 14:7-8


SOON I will be SEEING
My family and friends in
Pittsburgh and Maryland
And I am SURE
I will feel WELCOME


And someday
I will see ALL OF YOU
In the BANQUET OF GOD


Where we are ALL WELCOME
In Jesus' name and in the name
Of our ALL LOVING FATHER

GOD SENDS PEOPLE


Throughout time
When the world
Has chosen the wrong road
Has chosen the road of darkness
Instead of God’s road of LIGHT


God sends people


God sends people
People to point out our mistakes
God does this
Because there is
So much at stake


One such person
That God sent
Was Jeremiah


A prophet who came
About 600 years before Christ


Idolatry and perverted worship
Were the rule of the day


God sent Jeremiah
To the people of Judah
Who had
Turned their back on God


Jeremiah pointed out
To the people of his day
That we should worship God
And God alone


For his efforts
Jeremiah endured
Contempt and ridicule
Lost his family and friends
And even suffered attempts
On his life


Throughout time
God has sent us people
Abraham, Moses, and Elijah


Throughout time
God has sent us people
John the Baptist, Peter, and Paul


Throughout time
God has sent us people
Jesus Christ alone
The One who stands out
For all time


This world
Is lost today
Turning its back
On God


Making the wrong decisions
Time after time


Who is God sending today
Perhaps you
Perhaps me


Dear Lord God above
Please Please Please

HE JUST KEPT PLAYING CARDS




There once
Was a famous person
Who played cards
All day long


Word
Had got around town
( From a reliable source )
That the world
Was going to end


People were
Running here
People were
Running there
The whole town
Was in a panic


Except the one man
Who just kept
Playing cards


Finally a woman
Approached him and said,
“Charles, don’t you have
Something to do
Some affairs
To put in order”


Charles looked
At the woman and said,
“What could be more important
Than playing cards with the Lord”

HIS RADICAL AND PERSISTENT LOVE
FOR US


The OLDER I become
The more I look back
And the MORE GRATITUDE I feel
For all
GOD has done for me
In my life


GOD'S LOVE for me and
Probably for you too


Has been RADICAL
And PERSISTENT and has sustained me
Through all things


He loves you=and he loves me
With a NEVER ENDING LOVE


“ONLY goodness and kindness
Will follow me
All the days
Of my life” Psalm 23:6


Whether we are AWARE of it
Or not=I/we are being GUIDED
By God


We WONDER why he
Takes us
To SOME of the places
He does


But he sustains us=
He GUIDES US
He walks with us
Through all things
With his RADICAL & PERSISTENT
LOVE for us


“To those who
By PERSISTENCE in doing good
Seek glory=honor=and
IMMORTALITY


He will give ETERNAL LIFE” Romans 2:7


Today=on ALL SOULS DAY=
We REMEMBER all those
Who walked before us


FOLLOWING GOD
Following the steps
Where God GUIDED them


Those who FOLLOW a God
Who refused
To ever
Give up on them


“GUIDE ME in your truth
And teach me
For you are my God
And SAVIOR


And my HOPE is in you
All day long” Psalm 25:5


“When you walk
They will GUIDE you


When you sleep
They will watch over you
When you awake


They will SPEAK to you” Proverbs 6:22


“But when he
The SPIRIT of truth=comes
He will GUIDE you
Into all the truth


He will NOT
Speak on his own
He will speak only
What he hears


And he will tell you
What is YET to come” John 16:13


Dear Lord=we know
YOUR WAYS are
Not our ways


But we WILL
Try to follow you
ALL the days
Of our lives


Because we know
You have
A RADICAL AND PERSISTENT LOVE

CALLING ALL SAINTS


Today=11-1-18=we CELEBRATE
The feast of ALL SAINTS=and tomorrow=
11-2-18=we celebrate
All the SOULS
Who have faithfully DEPARTED


I PERSONALLY want to celebrate
And ACKNOWLEDGE
ALL the saints and souls
Who have HELPED me
On my JOURNEY OF FAITH


“To LIVE for my family=
Friends and all people EVERYWHERE”


“After this-
I had a VISION
Of a great multitude........


From EVERY nation-race-people
And tongue” Revelation 7:9


I SALUTE every Saint
From every FAITH=nation=color=creed
Let us all have
The COURAGE
To live like them


Do you KNOW
What a SAINT IS?


“A saint is a PERSON
Who is recognized
As having an exceptional DEGREE
Of holiness
Or likeness or
CLOSENESS TO GOD”


And so I say
Thank you to all
My FAMILY MEMBERS=friends=
And all people


Who have SUSTAINED ME
In my search
To FIND GOD
And bring LOVE
BACK into this world


I thank you=
YOU=are SAINTS to me
You have given me
The COURAGE to keep fighting
To keep living
OUT OF FAITH


CALLING ALL SAINTS
Let us step up
To God=and our FAITH
And KEEP living lives
CLOSE TO GOD


CALLING all Saints


Calling all people
Close to GOD


NO MATTER what your faith=
Color or creed


“The Lord is CLOSE
To the brokenhearted
And SAVES those


Who are
Crushed in SPIRIT” Psalm 34:18


“And he has raised up
For his people a horn


The PRAISE of all
His faithful servants
Of Israel


The people CLOSE to his heart” Psalm 148:14


So let us
STAY CLOSE and demonstrate
Our faith in GOD


KNOWING that PRAYING to him
Will help us
Along the way


CALLING ALL SAINTS
The loved ones of God
And the ones who
LOVE=love God
ABOVE ALL THINGS


Our God=our Lord
Is calling us
To build a world
FULLOF LOVE


As a prisoner
For the Lord
I URGE you


To live a life worthy
Of the CALLING
You have received” Ephesians 4:3


CALLING ALL SAINTS
Let us build a world
FULL of love

RACISM---MARTIN LUTHER KING---MARTIN DE PORRES---us




How many of us
Have ever a looked at a person
Of another race, color, creed
Doing something that we don’t like
Or demonstrating a quality
That is particularly ugly


How many of us
Have then taken that experience
And associated it with
An entire race, color, sex, religion, etc……..


If you say that you have NEVER done it
You are a far better person than I


Martin Luther King
Began a movement some 50 years or so ago
That still lives on and is in us today


He died for what he believed
God bless him for what he stood for


It may surprise you to know
That there was a man that lived
From 1579 to 1639


He was known as “Half Breed” or “War Souvenir”
Cruel names inflicted on him
By those of “pure” breed


He was the illegitimate son
Of a freed black woman from Panama
Who possibly had some Native American in her too


His father was a man of Spanish descent
From Lima, Peru


Because Martin was black like his Mother
It took his father 8 years to acknowledge him


Martin never became bitter---even as a child
He gave his heart and all that he had
For the poor and despised


Early on---Martin became a barber
And drew blood and administered medicines
In hospitals


Martin then applied to the Dominicans
To be a “lay helper”
Not feeling himself worthy
To be a religious brother


TALK ABOUT HUMILITY


In his medical duties---and in life
Martin treated ALL people with dignity
Regardless of race, color, status, etc……..


He worked side-by-side with ALL
In the kitchen---in the laundry
And in the infirmary


Martin’s life
Reflected God’s extraordinary love
And he became so highly thought of
That many of the religious
Took him on as their spiritual advisor


Saint Rose of Lima, Peru
Became his very good friend


Dear Lord---we pray
That we become like Saint Martin de Porres
Who lived his life
For the dignity of ALL


We pray that we become
Like the great Martin Luther King
Willing to live out our lives
In life and in death
For the dignity of all


And most of all---Dear Lord---we pray
That when we look at people
We see---NOT color---NOT sexuality---NOT creed


We pray that we just see people
People and their NEED


May we build a better world
