THAT MOST IMPORTANT YES


MAYBE with the exception
Of Jesus=his mother MARY=
Gave the most important=YES
In all of human history


THAT MOST IMPORTANT YES!=
Saying yes to the LORD


“Mary said='I AM
The handmaid of the Lord


MAY it be done to me
According to your WORD'


Then the ANGEL
Departed from her” Luke 1:38


I said YES to the Lord
On my deathbed
WHEN I was 22


And I have been GRANTED
Forty+ years of life=
THANK YOU LORD!


These years haven't all been EASY=
Bu they have given me
40+ hears of MEMORIES and
EXPERIENCES with my family=
My friend and MY CHURCHES


I would NOT trade these years
For anything


GOD KNOWS what
He is doing=it is us=
HUMANS who often
Get it wrong


THE MOST IMPORTANT YES=
Following the PLANS=God
Has for your LIFE


“But the PLANS
Of the Lord
Stand firm forever


The PURPOSES
Of his heart
Through all generations” Psalm 33:11


“Many are the PLANS
In a person's heart
But it is the LORD'S PURPOSE
That prevails” Proverbs 19:21


“Was I fickle
When I intended
To do this?


Or do I
Make my PLANS
In a worldly manner


So that
In the same breath
I say BOTH
'Yes, yes' and 'No, no?” 1 Corinthians 17


Mary's yes was YES=
My yes is a FIRM YES=and I
Will do my BEST
For God and Jesus FOREVER


An ANGEL appears to Mary
And tells her
The FANTASTIC NEWS


About her FUTURE-
About her shocking
And life-changing CHALLENGE


And she answers
A resounding YES
“BEHOLD=I AM”


May we all have the
COURAGE=to respond like Mary=
With a YES=when called upon
BY GOD


“But now I urge you
To keep up your COURAGE


Because NOT one of you
Will be lost=only the ship
Will be destroyed” Acts 27:22


MAY we all be so
BLESSED like Mary=as saying YES
To God=and meaning it


In Jesus' name and in the name of the EVERLASTING=all-loving FATHER

THE ROCK OF OUR LIVES




WHO or what
Is the ROCK
Of your life


The anchor-the staple-
the center that
BINDS everything together


That entity
From which
ALL things flow


That entity
That makes all
other things GO


For me
I think
It has always been GOD


And on a conscious level
I KNOW it has been God
Since I was 22


And then, of course,
FAMILY, friends, and churches


I could NOT
Have survived this long
Without any of the above


And some might say-NOW-
NOT only surviving
But thriving


BECAUSE OF GOD
The ROCK of my life
(and because of family, friends, and church)


“I love you-O Lord-
My strength


O Lord
My rock
My fortress
My deliverer” Psalm 18:2-3


We live
In unstable times


There are many things
Demanding our time and attention


And times
Seem to be becoming
A little more UNCERTAIN
Every day


This is WHY
We need our ROCK-
OUR GOD
A little more every day


“MAY these words
Of my mouth


And this meditation
Of my heart


Be PLEASING
In your sight
Lord-MY ROCK-
And my REDEEMER” Psalm 19:14


OUR Lord
OUR God
THE ROCK of our lives


Sometimes our paths
Are rocky and are painful


That even making it
Through another day
Seems NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE


But we can do it
WHEN God
Is the ROCK
Of our lives


“PROCLAIMING
The Lord is upright


He is MY ROCK
And there is no wickedness
In him” Psalm 92:15


God wants to be
THE ONE
We lean on


The one
Who KEEPS us
Standing strong


He wants to be
THE ROCK
Of our lives


“For they drank
From the spiritual rock
That accompanied them
And that ROCK
WAS CHRIST” 1 Corinthians 10:4


GOD ENCOURAGES us
To develop
A relationship with him
And to make him
The FOUNDATION of our lives


We become more grounded
And stable


Let us ALL
Look to make God

SHARING OUR GIFTS WITH OTHERS


We have ALL
Been given gifts from God
And our gifts are UNIQUE


It takes the gift of PRUDENCE
To know HOW & WHEN-
Not to mention how much-
When determining HOW TO SHARE
Our gifts from God


“Do not give what is holy
To dogs
Or throw away your pearls
Before swine........” Matthew 7:6


In other words
HOW do you know
With whom
To share your gifts


Who is in LEGITIMATE
Need
And how much to share
With another


In other words
It is NOT always easy
To DISCERN-God's will


I believe
I am always called upon
To SHARE-
What I have-no matter
How much or how little-
I have-with others-
IN NEED


“The generous
Will themselves be BLESSED


For they SHARE their food
With the poor” Proverbs 22:9


“Now if we are children
Then we are heirs-


Heir to God
And co-heirs to Christ


If indeed we share
In his sufferings
In order
That we may also


SHARE in his GLORY” Romans 8:17


SHARING our gifts
With others
And sharing
In the Lord's glory too
(as we share in his sufferings)


I know I have shared
With some people in this world
Who have
Taken advantage of me


But I would rather SHARE
What I have with all others
Than NOT be there
For one person-who has
A legitimate need for my help


As CHRISTIANS-
We are called upon to
HELP OTHERS
That is what-supposedly separates us


WE are called upon to be
GOOD STEWARDS
And we are called upon
To HELP OTHERS
Just as we are to TAKE CARE
Of ourselves


SHARE AND HELP
Through your time-money-and talent
After all-our God-
SAVED us and continues
To HELP US


“Lord my God
I called to you for HELP
And you HEALED ME” Psalm 30:2


“We wait
In HOPE for the Lord
He is our help
And our SHIELD” Psalm 33:20


“In everything I did
I showed you
That by this kind
Of hard work


We MUST help the weak
REMEMBERING the words
The Lord Jesus himself said:


'It is MORE BLESSED to give
Than to receive'” Acts 20:35

JESUS is the reason

HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET


As I
Write my Christmas cards
To family and friends
I try to remember


THE REASON FOR THE SEASON


Before I left Pittsburgh
You couldn’t say
The word “CHRISTMAS” on tv


“Happy Sparkle Season”
Hardly has the same effect---at least for me


HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET


A miniature crèche
Identical to the one in Rome
Had to be moved
From the government courthouse
To outside a corporation


HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET


Haven’t you heard
JESUS is the reason
For the season


WITHOUT JESUS
You would be getting
Not one single gift this year


Putting up my decorations
And my Christmas tree
Trying to remember---trying NOT to forget
Jesus is the reason
For this kindness and goodwill
He is THE REASON
For this season


Trying to remember
The LOVE, the FORGIVENESS, and KINDNESS
That he brought to us---in this world
Trying to remember---his name---the name of JESUS CHRIST
Trying to let him know
That it ALL
Wasn’t for not
That it ALL---wasn’t in vain


Let us put the letter “C”
Back into Christmas
Let us put the name Christ
Back into Christmas


It is NOT so hard to remember
It really isn’t---all we have to do
Is take one long look up at the CROSS


JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

PERFECT PURITY AND LOVE=
Today we CELEBRATE
The IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
Of Mary
The PERFECT purity and love
Of our second MOTHER=the
"NEW EVE" as she
IS sometimes called
"The man called
His wife=Eve=because she
Became the mother
Of all the LIVING"                                                                                                       Matthew 9:28
It is TRULY Mary=our
SECOND MOTHER=who is truly
The NEW EVE
Because she CARRIED
PERFECT PURITY and love
In her heart
She brought to WHOLENESS
With perfect PURITY AND LOVE
With her FREE ACT
Of faith and obedience
She is ESSENTIAL
To the story=to OUR STORY
Of salvation
With PERFECT PURITY AND LOVE
"How can a young person
Stay on
The path of PURITY?
By living according
To YOUR WORD"                                                                                                             Psalm 119:9
"Don't let anyone
Look down on you
Because you are young
But set an example
For the believers in speech=
In conduct=in love=
In faith=
And IN PURITY"                                                                                                              1 Timothy 4:12
"........when
They see the PURITY
And REVERENCE of your lives"                                                                               1 Peter 3:2
Yes Mary is the EXAMPLE
Of PERFECT PURITY and LOVE
For us in this world today
She is the "NEW EVE"=
She sets the example
For us=as to how
We are to LIVE IN
The world today
As a mother=Mary=
Was always
Ready to LISTEN
And she teaches us
STILL another virtue=
She teaches us COMPASSION
She gives us compassion
For our struggles
In the world today
And GENTLY draws us
To the
Life of her SON
"You will arise
And have COMPASSION
On Zion
For it is time
To show favor to her=
The appointed time
Has come"                                                                                                                  Psalm 102:13
"PRAISE be to the God
And Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ
The Father of COMPASSOION
And the God of ALL COMFORT"                                                                                 2 Corinthians 1:3
And so today=on the
FEAST of the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
We RECOGNIZE Mary as
The example of PERFECT PURITY AND LOVE=
Of compassion=the NEW EVE=
And the MOTHER OF US ALL

TEARS NO MORE

TEARS NO MORE
Unfortunately death
COMES to us all
It VISITS everyone of us
AND our dear FAMILIES
But if we LIVE
A righteous life=one that IS
ONE with God
We will live
FOREVER IN him and with him
TEARS NO MORE

The LORD of hosts
Will provide for all people
A feast of rich food
And choice wines=
Juicy-rich food-and PURE choice wines
........he will DESTROY
Death forever

That is read at
ALL FUNERALS
But we NEED NOT
Be forlorn
CHRIST has destroyed death
TEARS NO MORE=
We will LIVE FOREVER in
God=Christ=and the LORD
"Those who sow
With TEARS
Will reap
With songs of JOY"                                                                                                             Psalm 126:1
"For I wrote you
Out of great distress
And anguish of heart
And with MANY TEARS
NOT to grieve you
But to let you know
The DEPTH of my LOVE

And isn't that the way
When we LOSE someone
CLOSE to us
That we GRIEVE
With crying tears
But when we stop and
THINK about our loved ones
Having=living IN ETERNAL REST
With God
We feel RELIEVED
We feel=TEARS NO MORE
Dear Lord=in many TANGIBLE WAYS
You let us know
How CLOSE you are
To us=in death
AND IN LIFE
You WIPE AWAY our tears
NOW=and after deaths close
To us=continue to
SEND US your love
And the relief
And COMFORT=we so desperately need

SAINT NICHOLAS-A SAINT FOR ALL SEASONS




The historical facts
And the legends of Saint Nicholas
Are-in fact-intertwined


What we know for sure
Is that
He was Bishop of Myra
And may or may not
Have been instrumental
In the council of Nicea in 325


He became widely known
In the East-and that was increased
By an account of a fictitious biographer


And his legend
Began to spread to the West
In the 10^th century


Many have claimed him
As their patron Saint
Including children-sailors-unmarried girls-
Merchants-pawnbrokers-and perfumiers


It is believed
He saved three girls from prostitution
By throwing 3 bags of money
Through their windows
To provide dowries
So they could get married


It is believed
That this is the basis
Of three gold bars
As the pawnbrokers sign


It is believed
He raised three boys
After they were murdered by a butcher
And that he saved three men
Unjustly condemned to death
As well as
Three sailors lost at sea
Off the coast of Turkey


Many churches
Are named after him
And he is believed to be
The most painted Saint
Other than the Blessed Mother


The most popular result
Of his cult
Is the belief that Saint Nicholas
Is responsible for the origins of Santa Claus


This is based on
Nicholas’ love of children
And his giving them gifts


Nicholas remains
A very popular name
As well as its many variations including:
Colin-Nicola-Nicolette-and many others


So this December 6h
On his feast day
Let us all remember
That giving is NOT just for Christmas


But ALL YEAR round
And Nicholas is not just a Christmas Saint
BUT A SAINT FOR ALL SEASONS
