GOD MAKES US PERFECT!

GOD MAKES US PERFECT!


There are many DISHONEST
PEOPLE in this world=
In fact=the parable today
Is about a dishonest steward


SCHOLARS believe the dishonest
Steward committed USURY
Against his neighbors


And REPENTED only when
His master found out


Isn't that the way it is=sometimes
With us too=GETTING CAUGHT
By God=by Jesus
Can motivate us=to really CHANGE OUR WAYS


God can=Jesus does and can
Make us PERFECT
They are the
ONLY perfect ones


“And the master commended
The DISHONEST STEWARD
For acting prudently” Luke 16:8


“He said to them=
'You are the ones
Who justify yourselves
In the eyes
Of others


But GOD KNOWS
Your hearts


What people value highly
Is detestable
In God's sight” Luke 16:15


Sometimes it takes
Being CAUGHT
In some kind of wrongdoing


For us to
Really change our ways


But God can TOUCH US=
Jesus can touch us
To really CHANGE OUR HEARTS


When we CHANGE
And try to become Like God=
Though we don't
Really ever reach it


God makes us=Jesus makes
Us PERFECT=In heart=and mind
And soul


Though we have to
CONFESS our sins=and wrongdoing
To God first


“As for God
His way is PERFECT
The Lord's way
Is flawless


He shields all
Who take refuge
In him” Psalm 18:30


“You will keep
IN PERFECT PEACE


Those whose minds
Are steadfast
Because they trust in you” Isaiah 26:3


When we are sorry=CONTRITION
Often starts out half-hearted


Sometimes our heart is ready=
But our minds are NOT=
Sometimes we become AWARE


Only when we think
About the consequences


But God=in his MERCY-
SMILES on us=
His ways are PERFECT
And he has
HIS WAY with us


“Every good and PERFECT GIFT
Is from above


Coming down from the Father
Of the heavenly lights
Who does not change
Like shifting shadows” James 1:17


When we ADOPT God's WAYS
We become PERFECT too=
GOD'S WAYS make us perfect

Are you actively SEEKING
GOD with your life?
Are you having trouble
Finding him?


DON'T GIVE UP
THE CHASE!


“This I SEEK=
To dwell


In the house
Of the Lord
All the days
Of my life........” Psalm 27:4


Be like a DOG=have
You ever NOTICED how
They don't give up?


They smell everything=they
Keep on SEARCHING=totally
Trying to find what
Makes them HAPPY


Keep up the CHASE=
Keep up that SEARCH=
You know that it is
The PRESENCE OF GOD
That makes you HAPPY


“Five of you
Will CHASE a hundred
And a hundred of you


Will CHASE ten thousand
And your enemies
Will fall
By the sword
Before you” Leviticus 26:8


“Those who work
Their land
Will have abundant food


But those who CHASE fantasies
Have no sense” Proverbs 12:11


The dog stays FOCUSED
On what he is searching for=
Most of the time


And so it must be
With us=we NEED to stay
Focused on our SEARCH
FOR God


We need to keep UP
THE CHASE=until we find God-
Until we find Jesus
LIVING right here inside of us


Right INSIDE of our
Own HEARTS=our own minds=
And our own SOULS


DON'T GIVE UP THE CHASE!=
Keep on SEARCHING for God
Stay FOCUSED!


“SEARCH me God
And know my heart


Test me and
Know my anxious thoughts” Psalm 139:23


“And if you look for it
As for silver


And SEARCH for it
As for hidden treasure” Proverbs 2:4


“Or suppose a woman
Has ten silver coins
And loses one


Doesn't she light a lamp-
Sweep the house
And SEARCH CAREFULLY
Until she finds it?” Luke 15:8


And that is the way
It is WITH GOD


The harder it is
To find something
The MORE IMPORTANT
That it is

Keep on SEARCHING=until you
FIND GOD and Jesus=living
RIGHT INSIDE of

CARRYING OUR CROSSES


You have CROSSES in life=
I do too=And Jesus
Had his own
VERY HEAVY CROSSES


We all have to
CARRY them=to the BEST
Of our abilities=no matter
HOW HEAVY
That they are


“Whoever does not
Carry his OWN CROSS


And come after me
CANNOT be my disciple” Luke 14:27


Do you ever wonder
If you are on
JESUS' list
Of his disciples?


Are you carrying the CROSSES
To the best
Of your ability?


Maybe you are=and I am=
Some of Jesus'
DISCIPLES too


These crosses
Are darn heavy


We stay ACTIVE
On Jesus' approved disciples
List=by CARRYING our crosses


“Carrying his OWN CROSS-

The place of the skull
(Which in Aramaic
Is called Golgotha)” John 19:17


“His purpose
Was to create
In himself
One new humanity
Out of the two=


Thus making peace
And in one body
To reconcile both of them to God
THROUGH THE CROSS

Put to death
Their hostility” Ephesians 2:16


“And having disarmed
The powers-
And authorities


He has made a public spectacle
Out of them
Triumphing over them
BY THE CROSS” Colossians 2:15


We all have
MANY CROSSES


Those people in the
Senior LIVING CENTER=
They have many crosses


They are JESUS' DISCIPLES too=
Those people carrying
CHRONIC ILLNESSES-
They have worries=anxieties=
And CROSSES


They are
APPROVED DISCIPLES TOO


We are TRYING
To CARRY our crosses
To the best of
Our ability


Jesus carried a HEAVY
WOODEN CROSS=and internally
A much heavier one


He kept walking
ALL THE WAY to Calgary
And did not turn back


KEEP walking and carrying
Your cross=you are HIS DISCIPLE TOO


“What Jesus did here
In Cana of Galilee
Was the first


Of the signs
Through which
He revealed his glory


And his DISCIPLES
Believed in him” John 2:11


KEEP carrying YOUR CROSS=if it
Is not heavy
It is NOT A CROSS

Today=Jesus tells us
That we should give to
THE POOR=even though
They can't repay you


Jesus tells us that our
GOAL should not be equity=
But GENEROSITY-
Because it is
THE RIGHT THING TO DO


“When you hold a banquet-
INVITE the POOR-the crippled-
The lame-the blind


Blessed you will be
Because of their
INABILITY to repay you” Luke 14:13-14


God has always had
An AFFAIR with the POOR=
Jesus too


The BIBLE is laced
With readings about the POOR
In both the OLD TESTAMENT
And the NEW


LOVE the poor-
Treat the poor
With GENEROSITY
Because it is
THE RIGHT THING TO DO


“This POOR MAN called
And the Lord
Heard him


He saved him
Out of
ALL his troubles” Psalm 34:6


“Whoever is kind
To the POOR
Lends to the Lord


And he will
Reward them
For what they have done” Proverbs 19:17


“You have been
A refuge
To the POOR


A refuge
To the needy
In their distress


A shelter
From the storm
And a shade
From the heat


For the breath
Of the ruthless
Is like a storm
Driving against a wall” Isaiah 25:4


MANY of Jesus' TEACHINGS
Go against the norm
This one reminds me


Of the ONE about us=
Our giving and fasting=
That it should be
CONCEALED from others


We should give to the
POOR=those less fortunate
Than ourselves=simply because


It is=THE RIGHT THING
TO DO


“You will always have
THE POOR among you


But you will
NOT always have me” John 12:8


“In Joppa=there was a disciple=
Named Tabitha
(In Greek her name is Dorcas)


She was-
Always doing good
And HELPING THE POOR” Acts 9:36


Jesus tells us to do
THE RIGHT THING=not for esteem
Among our peers


But simply because
It is=
THE RIGHT THING TO DO


In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our always forgiving-LIVING=LOVING FATHER!
