I live with HOPE=
I love with hope


I BELIEVE in God and I
Believe that there-
Still are
GOOD PEOPLE in this world


My life=and what God
And others have done=
Is a WITNESS
To that fact


FINDING HOPE=
ALL DAY LONG


“Blessed are they
Who HOPE in the Lord” Psalm 40:5


There are CATHOLIC CHURCHES
All over the place=
And MASSES going on


There are COMMUNITY CHURCHES
From all
The different denominations
On every street corner


We have our BIBLE-
We have our Saints


We don't have to go
Too far=to find God and
To find Jesus
To FIND HOPE


Finding hope
ALL day long=each and
EVERY DAY
Of our lives


“Though he slay me
Yet will I HOPE
In him


I will surely
Defend my ways
To his face” Job 13:15


“May those who fear you=rejoice
When they see me


For I have
PUT MY HOPE
In your word” Psalm 119:74


“Not only so
But we also
Glory in our sufferings


Because we know
That suffering produces perseverance=
Perseverance=character
And character=HOPE


And HOPE does not
Put us to shame=
Because God's love
Has been


Poured into our hearts
Through the Holy Spirit
Who has been given to us” Romans 5:3-5


And to FIND HOPE
All day long


All I have to do
Is to talk to
ONE of my sisters=
Which I do most every day


My sister Mary=
Was named after the BLESSED MOTHER=
And my sister Terri Judith=was
Named after


The LITTLE FLOWER
And Saint Jude=the patron saint
Of HOPELESS CASES


Finding hope=all DAY LONG=
In family=in extended family=
And MY MANY CHRISTIAN FRIENDS


“Now faith is confidence
In what we HOPE FOR
And assurance
About what we=DO NOT SEE” Hebrews 11:1


I hope=that like me
You are FINDING HOPE
ALL DAY LONG


In God=and in each other

GOD LOVES YOU!

GOD LOVES YOU=and so do I

it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE=in
GOD'S EVERLASTING LOVE for us

OUR MERCIFUL GOD

OUR MERCIFUL GOD


Our God is a
MERCIFUL GOD=who knows
All things


And he is PLEASED
With us=if we are HUMBLE
And act in LOVE=
And in MERCY AND HUMILITY


“Whoever HUMBLES himself
Will be exalted” Matthew 23:12


Did you ever hear of
The phrase=”HUMBLE BRAGGING?”=
It is a WAY
Of BOASTING of our actions
While trying
To SOUND HUMBLE


And it might APPLY
To a person who says
“I ONLY go to MASS
Five days a week”


But fortunately=OUR God is
A MERCIFUL GOD=and he looks
Happily down on us
If we live in HUMILITY


He=the Lord=our Jesus
Is pleased by humility
OUR MERCIFUL GOD!


“When pride comes-
Then comes disgrace
But with HUMILITY
Comes wisdom” Proverbs 11:2


“Do nothing
Out of selfish ambition
Or vain conceit


Rather IN HUMILITY-
Value others
Above yourselves


Not looking
To your own interests
But each of you
To the interests of others” Philippians 2:3-4


“All of you
Clothe yourselves


With HUMILITY toward one another
Because God=opposes the proud
But shows FAVOR

In today's reading=
Jesus warns us
About SPIRITUAL PRIDE
Clothed as piety


Humble bragging=SOUND FAMILIAR
Jesus REBUKES the
Spiritual leaders
Of his day
For humble bragging


He rebukes them
For NOT PRACTICING
What they preach


“So you must be careful
To do everything
They tell you


But DO NOT
Do what they do


For they do not practice
WHAT THEY PREACH” Matthew 23:3


POPE FRANCIS says
That spiritual hypocrites
REMOVE themselves
From God's mercy=
Because of their ARROGANCE


But for the REST of us
We serve=
A MERCIFUL GOD


“Blessed are the MERCIFUL
For they-
Will be shown MERCY” Matthew 5:7


MAYBE a good role model
Would be the
GOOD THIEF
On the cross


Always remember=the Lord
Is PLEASED=by your HUMILITY


That is the WAY that it is
When you SERVE
A MERCIFUL GOD

SAINT FRANCES OF ROME

SAINT FRANCES OF ROME




Saint Frances of Rome
Was a MUCH LOVED
Wonder working ROMAN Saint


She was
A person of means
With a keen sense
Of social responsibility
And mystic


And an INSPIRATIONAL leader
Who founded
A Benedictine order
Of women-OBLATES
Without vows
DEDICATED to the
SERVICE of the poor


She was married
To Lorenzo Ponziano
At the age of 13
Although she really
Desired to be a nun


In the same household
Lived her husband's brother
And his wife


These two
Shared Frances' ideas
And together the two young wives
DEVOTED themselves
To relieving
The distress of Rome's poor
ESPECIALLY in hospitals


In 1400
She bore the first
Of her six children
To whom
She was constantly devoted
And the next year
Took over charge
Of the whole household


She was NEVER known
To have a quarrel
In her forty years
of married life
To Lorenzo Ponziano


She LOVE AND SERVED Christ
In a special was
And her advice
To the ladies she inspired
Was that a married woman
MUST not forget
She is a home maker
And that


“She must SOMETIMES
Leave God
At the altar
To find him
IN her housework”


In 1408
THEY were singled out
For their prominent support
Of the popes


But Frances
Continued under DIFFICULT circumstances
And much suffering
To minister to the poor


AMONG her sorrows
Was the death
Of a nine-year-old son
And a teenage daughter
Her husband's banishment
And the plunder
Of family estates


In 1425
AFTER the death of her two children
SHE FOUNDED
A society of DEVOUT women
Under the rule
Of Saint Benedict


And after her husband's death
In 1436 Frances entered the community
And became its superior
For the remaining four years
Of her life


Various revelations-visions
And STRANGE illness
Are recorded of this
PARTICULARLY GENTLE Saint


Including her CONTINUOUS vision
Of several years
Of her GUARDIAN ANGEL


For this reason
She was NAMED
THE PATRON SAINT OF MOTORISTS


And she is also
Patroness of Benedictine OBLATES


She was canonized in 1608
And her feast day is MARCH 9^th

STRUGGLING TO GIVE?

STRUGGLING TO GIVE?


I love to GIVE=
But I don't have
That much to give


I don't have a
LOT OF RESOURCES


So I give of myself=
What I can=
WHEN I CAN


I try to LIVE LOVE=I give cards=
I share my POEMS=
I do what I can


“GIVE and gifts
Will be given
To you


A good measure
Packed together-
Shaken down
And overflowing


Will be poured
Into your lap” Luke 6:38


It is HARD
To get people to give=
Especially when they
Haven't given before


Or to INCREASE
The amount
That someone usually GIVES


STRUGGLING TO GIVE?


But giving is about
THE HEART=and Jesus
POINTS that out


When he tells us
About the POOR WIDOW
Who was poor-
But still GIVING


“'Truly I tell you,' he said
'This POOR WIDOW
Has put in more
Than all the others


All these people
Gave their gifts
Out of their wealth


But she
Out of her POVERTY
Put in all
She had to live on'” Luke 21:3-4


So many of you guys
HAVE HELPED ME
Over the years


I COMMEND all of you guys=
For I know
You are all STILL STRUGGLING too


But there is always SOMEONE
STRUGGLING more than us


STRUGGLING TO GIVE?


“All day long
He craves for more
But the righteous
GIVE without sparing” Proverbs 21:26


“Each of you
SHOULD GIVE


What you have
Decided in your HEART
To GIVE


Not reluctantly
Or under compulsion


For God LOVES
A CHEERFUL GIVER” 2 Corinthians 9:7


When you give=
You are a man=
Or a woman
AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART


Giving from abundance
IS GREAT=for this world
NEEDS YOU


But giving when you are
STRUGGLING TO GIVE
Will be
Greatly REWARDED BY GOD


God BLESS YOU ALL=
For the GIVING you DO


In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our ALWAYS GIVING GOD

REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!

REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE




We live
In a cold cruel world
A world that often
Does not notice us
A world
That treats us with indifference


And when this world
Does notice us
Often
It is only to criticize us
Or reject us


Take heart
You are a Child of God
And so as a father or mother
Loves their own child
Our God, and our Father
Loves you the same way


“How great is the love
The Father has lavished on us
That we should be called
Children of God
And that is what we are” 1 John 3:1


Take heart---and always remember
Who you are
You are a Child of God


“The reason the world
Does not know us
Is that it did not know him” 1 John 3:1


The world teaches us
To build our lives on money and material things
This world teaches us
To build our lives on our lust and sexuality
This world teaches us
To build our lives
On the promises of science


If we do these things
We don’t have to worry
About the devil
We don’t have to worry
About the antichrist
Because if we do these things
He is already here


Our Lord knows that we are sinners
But he taught us
That we have the potential for greatness


He taught us
To believe in God
And to believe in him
Because he knew
That earth is not our final destination
That we are destined
To spend eternity with him


Remember who you are
You are/we are
Children of God


Just look at who he befriended
An adulterous woman
Who was about to be stoned
The prodigal son
Who turned his back on his father
Peter---who denied him 3 times


Remember who you are
You are a Child of God


We assume
The adulterous woman quit sinning
We know
The prodigal son
Returned home to his father
And we KNOW---Peter turned out to be the ROCK


“Upon you
I will build my church”


So if there was hope for them
There is HOPE for us


“We know that anyone
Born of God
Does not continue to sin
The one who was born of God
Keeps him safe
And the evil one cannot harm him
We know that we are children of God” 1 John 5:18

IN the Catholic Church-TODAY is the feast of ALL SAINTS DAY-Many of the most popular are (and many of MY FAVORITES too), are Saint Francis, Saint Anthony, and Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, and of course, many others


BUT TODAY-we HONOR all the saints-and those saints that will forever REMAIN nameless-but have made a DIFFERENCE in the lives of others


HAPPY ALL SAINTS DAY to those of you who have made a DIFFERENCE in my life-you KNOW who you are-and what you have done to HELP ME in my life


I SALUTE YOU-and remember who you are


You are: A CHILD OF GOD

SAINT JOHN OF GOD

SAINT JOHN OF GOD---patron Saint of the sick-hospitals
And of book sellers and printers
1495-1550










Saint John of God
Was born in Portugal
And was founder of the Brothers Hospitallers


He joined the mercenaries
And fought for Spain
Against the French and Turks in Hungary


When he was in the army
He gave up ALL practice of religion
After the disbandment of his troop
He worked as a Shepherd


At the age of 40
He rededicated himself to God
And helping the poor


He suffered a period of “madness”
Running through the streets
Tearing out his hair
And giving away his Sacred books
From the bookstore where he sold them


His friends---most notably John of Avila
Calmed him down
And he rededicated himself
To the sick and the poor


He rented a house---
Filled it with sick poor people
And for over 10 years
Devoted himself to taking care of his patients


He had never-ending energy
But this was balanced by prayer


His final illness
Was brought on
When he saved a man from drowning
In a flood


He died at the age of 55
Before the altar at his hospital chapel


Today---he is known as the PATRON SAINT
Of the SICK---of HOSPITALS---and booksellers and printers


Today---March 8^th---is his feast day
