SEEING THAT FAITH!

 

SEEING THAT FAITH!

I am SURE=that when

I was 22=the LORD saw

THE FAITH

Of my family=my friends=

And my neighbors=

As well as my own

And that is

WHY I SURVIVED

Today we read about

ANOTHER AMAZING HEALING=and a

GROUP of men=opening a hole

In the roof=to try and HELP their friend

SEEING THAT FAITH!

“Many gathered together-

So that there was=no longer

Room for them........

UNABLE to get near Jesus

Because of the crowd=

They opened the ROOF

Above him” Mark 2:2, 4

Many people were DRAWN

To Jesus

Through the gospel accounts

What motivated them?

For sure it was a curiosity=

But for sure=it had to do with

A GREAT FAITH in healing

A great hope=

To be something more

To be something BETTER

For many=NO DOUBT=

It was their best chance in healing

For me=it was my ONLY CHANCE=

I was given zero% chance to survive=

SEEING THAT FAITH!

“Then he touched their eyes

And said=

'According to your FAITH-

Let it be done to you'” Matthew 9:29

“The apostles said to the Lord=

'INCREASE OUR FAITH'” Luke 17:5

“On arriving there=they gathered

The church together

And reported all=that God had done

Through them=and how

He opened up a door

OF FAITH to the Gentiles” Acts 14:27

What draws you and me to Jesus?

Would we CLIMB UP

On a rooftop=for the sake

Of a paralyzed friend?

What would we SAY

To Jesus=if we were FORTUNATE enough

To meet up with Jesus?

Would he see our faith?

SEEING THAT FAITH!

“Be on guard=stand firm=

IN THE FAITH=

Be courageous and strong=

Do everything in love” 1 Corinthians 16:13

“For it is by grace=

You have been saved

THROUGH FAITH--------

And this is not-from yourselves=

It is the gift of God--------

Not by works-so

No one can boast” Ephesians 2:8

Jesus SEES THE FAITH

Of these friends and commends them

They were willing to go

The extra mile

FOR FAITH AND FRIENDSHIP

Are we WILLING
To do the same?

If so=God and Jesus

WIL SEE OUR FAITH!

In Jesus' name=and in the name of our EVER FAITHFUL HOLY FATHER!

GOD'S PRAYERS AT WORK!

 

GOD'S PRAYERS AT WORK!

As I APPROACH my 66^th birthday=

I am REMINDED

Of what a difference=

God has MADE in my life

It wasn't a COMPLETE HEALING=

But it was enough

Of a healing to

Let me get off of my death bed

Three times=and carry on

WITH MY LIFE

“When it was evening=after sunset

They brought to him

All who were ill

Or possessed by demons” Mark 1:32

It was ENOUGH of a healing

To have a lifetime

To SPEND with my parents=

To spend with my sisters=and to

SPEND TIME with my extended FAMILY
AND FRIENDS

Always GREET life with

A WELCOMING SMILE=always

Greet others with a HUG

And a handshake when appropriate

LISTEN to others=

Respond to others=

And try to be JOYFUL
ABOUT LIFE

It is a GIFT from God=

And it is

NOT to be taken for granted

“Our days

May come to SEVENTY years=

Or eighty-

If our strength endures” Psalm 90:10

GOD'S PRAYERS at work!=

God's prayers and your prayers

Prayers from family and friends

GAVE ME LIFE

PRAYERS make a difference

In life=prayers have

Given me life again

THANKFUL to God=Thankful

For all of you=for

SHARING a part of your life

With me

GOD'S PRAYERS AT WORK!

“They were helped

In fighting them-

And God delivered the Hagrites

And all their allies=into their hands

Because they cried out=to him

During the battle

He answered their PRAYERS

Because they trusted in him” 1 Chronicles 5:20

I have NO IDEA

WHY God answered my PRAYERS=

And not some for others

I have been GRANTED 44 years

Of ADDITIONAL LIFE=and am so THANKFUL

For ALL of that TIME

With my family and others

Thankful for GOD'S PRAYERS AT WORK!=

And thankful for=ALL of your prayers too

“Do not be anxious about anything=

But in every situation=

BY PRAYER and petition=with thanksgiving

Present your requests to God” Philippians 4:6

All healing is a sign

Of God's compassionate love=

But healing=and GOD'S PRAYERS and ours

Will always be a MYSTERY

As I CELEBRATE my 66^th birthday

On the 19^th of this month=PLEASE KNOW=

I LOVE=each and EVERYONE of you=

And appreciate your FRIENDSHIP

In the names of Jesus=and our EVER HEALING FATHER!

HE WAS A TEACHER!

 

HE WAS A TEACHER!

Our Lord Jesus=was the

SON OF GOD=and he was

A TEACHER

He came to be the

WORD MADE FLESH=

And to TEACH us about God

With DIVINE AUTHORITY=

And Mary Magdalene

Was his most PRIZED STIDENT

“The people were astonished

With his TEACHING

For he taught them

As one having authority

And not as the scribes” Mark 1:22

I have heard some

PRETTY AMAZING TEACHERS

About God in my life

But NONE so great

As Jesus himself=and his words

From the BIBLE

And his fantastic PARABLES

HE WAS A TEACHER!

“The student

Is not above=THE TEACHER=

Nor a servant

Above his master” Matthew 10:24

“But you are not

To be called 'rabbi'

For you

Have ONE TEACHER

And you are all brothers” Matthew 23:8

“In fact

Though by this time=

You ought to be A TEACHER

You need someone

TO TEACH YOU

The elementary truths of

GOD'S WORD all over again

You need milk=

Not solid food” Hebrews 5:12

Jesus' teachings are so DEEP-

SO TRUE

His words-ideas-and connections

Make their way

Down to the RECESSES

Of our hearts and souls

When we read JESUS' TEACHINGS=

We can LEARN to be

Teachers too

But Jesus' authority was so

MUCH GREATER

Than even the seasoned teachers

His words and PARABLES

And teachings=touch us

Deep down in our HEARTS=

His teachings

Were ROOTED IN DIVINITY

“For since the creation

Of the world=

GOD'S invisible qualities--------

His eternal power and DIVINE NATURE--------

Have been clearly seen

Being understood

From what has been made

So that people=are without excuse” Romans 1:20

Jesus' teachings are DIVINE=

He is the greatest

HUMAN TEACHER of all time

His PREPARATION for his ministry

Was nurtured =by his time=with the SPIRIT

In the desert

When we are in

Our spiritual desert

We can only HOPE TO EMERGE

With a fraction of the

TEACHINGS AND AUTHORITY

That Jesus had

HE WAS A TEACHER!=

He is our teacher EVEN TODAY

In Jesus' name=and in the name of our ever DIVINE TEACHING FATHER!

LET US BE GENEROUS OF SPIRIT

 

LET US BE GENEROUS OF SPIRIT

There are ALL TYPES of ways

To GIVE of ourselves

In this world

OUR time-our money-OUR PRAYERS-

Sometimes just our own-

GENEROUS SPIRIT

“MANY rich people

Put in LARGE sums

A poor WIDOW also came

And put in two SMALL COINS

Worth a few cents” Mark 12:41-42

We all have different TALENTS-

And different amounts-

To GIVE to this world

As long as we GIVE-

What we can-in WHATEVER WAY-

That we can

We are DOING our part

In today's readings=the ANGEL-Raphael-

Tells Tobit-

ALMSGIVING is better than

Prayer and fasting

And the POOR WIDOW-

GAVE more than any

Of the wealthy donors-because-

She gave her all

WE should always give

ALL we can-in all the ways

Of our lives

Let us be GENEROUS OF SPIRIT

In giving ALL that we can

“All day long-

He craves for more

But the RIGHTEOUS GIVE

Without sparing” Proverbs 21:26

“In EVERYTHING I did-

I showed you that

By this kind of hard work

We MUST HELP the weak

Remembering the words

The Lord Jesus himself said:

'It is MORE BLESSED to give

Than to receive'” Acts 20:35

“But since you EXCEL-

In everything-

In faith-in speech-

In knowledge-in complete earnestness

And in the LOVE-

We have KINDLED in you

SEE that you also excel-

In this GRACE OF GIVING” 2 Corinthians 8:7

Let us be GENEROUS-

IN SPIRIT-in every walk

Of our lives

Dear Lord-we PRAY-

That we be LESS calculating-

And more SPONTANEOUS in giving=

In whatever FORM that that is

And that we BE GENEROUS

“GOOD will come

To those who are GENEROUS

And lend freely

Who conduct their affairs

IN JUSTICE” Psalm 112:5

“A generous PERSON

Will prosper

Whoever REFRESHES others

WILL BE REFRESHED” Proverbs 11:25

Dear Lord we pray=HELP US

To be GENEROUS IN SPIRIT-

By GIVING all that we can

By giving a helping HAND-

WORDS of praise-

A listening ear-

Doing small FAVORS for others

And financial contributions-

WHEN WE CAN

We do THIS=in YOUR NAME O Lord-

And OFFER it up to you

FOLLOWING JESUS!

 

FOLLOWING JESUS!

We are coming off

Of weeks of the

CONTEMPLATION of the prophecy

And expectations=and darkness and light

We have celebrated Jesus' birth=

And his BAPTISM=and now we are getting back

To ordinary time

And HIS PUBLIC MINISTRY

“As he passed by

The Sea of Galilee=

He saw Simon

And his brother Andrew-

Casting their nets

Into the sea=

They were fishermen

Jesus said to them=

'COME AFTER ME=and I will make you

Fishers of men'” Mark 1:16-17

We too=like Simon and Andrew=

And the brothers John and James

And ALL of the other apostles

Are to come after

AND FOLLOW JESUS=we are

To be the MODERN DAY

21^st century apostles=

We are to FOLLOW HIM

In love=in word and in deed=

And in forgiveness and kindness

FOLLOW JESUS!

“Moses summoned all Israel

And said=

Hear Israel=the decrees and laws

I declare=in your hearing today

Learn them=

And be sure to FOLLOW THEM” Deuteronomy 5:1

“Then Jesus=

Said to his disciples=

'Whoever wants to be

My disciple-

Must deny themselves

And take up their cross

AND FOLLOW ME'” Matthew 16:24

“When he has brought out

All his own

He goes on ahead of them

And his sheep-FOLLOW HIM

Because they know his voice” John 10 :4

Jesus has just been born=

He is the WORD MADE FLESH

God came to us=

As a helpless human child

Now we FLASH FORWARD=

To Jesus at the age of thirty

And BEGINNING his public ministry

And CALLING his first apostles

They forsake it all=

And FOLLOW HIM=as

We should all do too

We are to COME after Jesus=

We are to

FOLLOW HIM=we are

To LIVE the Word of God

“FOLLOW the way of love

And eagerly desire

Gifts of the Spirit=

Especially prophecy” 1 Corinthians 14:1

“FOLLOW GOD'S EXAMPLE=

Therefore as dearly loved children” Ephesians 5:1

Dear Lord=we hear YOUR CALL-

And we are FOLLOWING=

Just like the original apostles

And brothers=Simon and Andrew

FOLLOWING HIM!

Wherever he may lead

In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our forever loving-LEADING FATHER

SERVANT=HE IS LOVING KINDNESS

 

SERVANT=HE IS LOVING KINDNESS

Jesus was a SERVANT

Of his LOVING FATHER=

He came to serve us=

Even though-

He was GOD HIMSELF

We are to be SERVANTS too=

To serve God=

And to SERVE all others

“NOT crying out=not shouting

NOT making his voice

Heard in the street” Isaiah 42:2

The BAPTISM of our Lord

Is what we celebrate today=

It is the START of

The PUBLIC MINISTRY of Jesus

The Lord our Father

Wants us to REFLECT

On the description of Jesus as

“SERVANT of the Lord”

“Here is my SERVANT

Whom I uphold=

My chosen one

In whom I delight” Isaiah 42:1

This foreshadows the COMING

Of the MESSIAH!

Isaiah does not talk about

The Messiah

Being a shouter=or a showman

He does not talk about

Power and glory

NO=he talks about

The SERVANT as being one

Of QUIET GENTLENESS

He talks about the COMING KINDNESS

OF THE MESSIAH!

“Anxiety weighs down the heart-

But a KIND WORD

Cheers it up” Proverbs 12:25

“BE KIND and compassionate

To one another

Forgive each other

Just as CHRIST forgave you” Ephesians 4:32

“And the Lord's SERVANT

Must not be quarrelsome=

But must be KIND to everyone

Able to teach-

Not be resentful” 2 Timothy 2:24

And Isaiah goes out of his way

To say the MESSIAH will

“ESTABLISH PEACE ON EARTH” Isaiah 42:4

And Jesus was such a SERVANT=

He let his cousin John

Baptize him=the MESSIAH!

And this was John's message

“After me comes

The one

More powerful than I

The straps of

Whose sandals=I am not worthy

To stoop down and untie

I baptize you with water=

But he will baptize you

With the HOLY SPIRIT” Mark 1:7-8

And so this HUMBLE SERVANT

Lets himself

Be baptized by his cousin

And the FATHER says=

“You are my SON

Whom I love=

With you=I AM WELL PLEASED” Mark 1:11

May we ALL

BE SUCH SERVANTS=in this world

That our Holy Father is

“WELL PLEASED” with us too

Love like Jesus=live like a SERVANT=

And with GENTLE KINDNESS

In the name of Jesus=and our ALWAYS kind gentle=and LOVING FATHER

SEEING THE JOY=A MUCH BIGGER PLAN

SEEING THE JOY=A MUCH BIGGER PLAN

Today we read about John

And his realization

About the COMING of Jesus

John recognizes that there are

BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS in life=

And that his time

Is coming to an END

“No one can RECEIVE ANYTHING

Except what

Has been given from heaven” John3:27

As John LEARNS

That Jesus has been

Baptizing nearby too=

He comes to KNOW

That he was

Part of a MUCH BIGGER PLAN

He could see his own ending=

But he could see the BEGINNING

Of something new=something greater

A MUCH BIGGER PLAN

SEEING THE JOY-

In the PLAN OF GOD

“Fill my heart WITH JOY-

When their grain=

And new wine abound” Psalm 40:7

“The prospect of the righteous

IS JOY=

But the hopes of the wicked

Come to nothing” Proverbs 10:28

“They will enter Zion

With singing=EVERLASTING JOY

Will crown their heads

Gladness and JOY

Will overtake them-

And sorrow and sighing

Will flee away” Isaiah 35:10

We all think=we are IN CONTROL

Of our lives

But nothing=could be further from the TRUTH

Nothing happens without God

Making room for it=

The CIRCLE OF LIFE-

Beginnings and endings

That is why John

Felt JOY=even though

He could see his own end coming

He could see the beginnings

Of the PLANS=for something greater

NOTHING begins or ends=

Without God planning it so=

EVERY GIFT=talent=and opportunity

We have RECEIVED in life

Is for the GREATER GOOD of God

SEEING THE JOY!=

For God has a

MUCH BIGGER PLAN

“But the angel=said to them

'Do not be afraid-

I bring you good news

That will cause GREAT JOY

For all the people=

Today in the town=of David

A SAVIOR has been

Born to you=he is the MESSIAH=

The Lord'” Luke 2:10-11

ALL beginnings and endings

In life=are for

THE GREATER GLORY of God=

SEE THE JOY in it

And realize=it is PART of

GOD'S BIGGER PLAN AND PURPOSE

We will EXPERIENCE JOY

In all things=in life=if we UNDERSTAND

That it is part of=GOD'S GREATER BIGGER PLAN

In the name of Jesus=and our HOLY FATHER GOD=who controls all things
