GOD SENDS PEOPLE

Throughout time

When the world

Has chosen the wrong road

Has chosen the road of darkness

Instead of God’s road of LIGHT

God sends people

God sends people

People to point out our mistakes

God does this

Because there is

So much at stake

One such person

That God sent

Was Jeremiah

A prophet who came

About 600 years before Christ

Idolatry and perverted worship

Were the rule of the day

God sent Jeremiah

To the people of Judah

Who had

Turned their back on God

Jeremiah pointed out

To the people of his day

That we should worship God

And God alone

For his efforts

Jeremiah endured

Contempt and ridicule

Lost his family and friends

And even suffered attempts

On his life

Throughout time

God has sent us people

Abraham, Moses, and Elijah

Throughout time

God has sent us people

John the Baptist, Peter, and Paul

Throughout time

God has sent us people

Jesus Christ alone

The One who stands out

For all time

This world

Is lost today

Turning its back

On God

Making the wrong decisions

Time after time

Who is God sending today

Perhaps you

Perhaps me

Dear Lord God above

Please Please Please

SEND US SOME PEOPLE

THE FACE IN THE MOUNTAIN

 

WITNESS

THE FACE IN THE MOUNTAIN

There once

Was a little boy

Who lived in a small town out West

And visible

From that town

Was an image of a face

Carved into the mountain

The little boy would stare

At the face all day

And he would walk around town

Asking everyone,

“Have you seen the face in the mountain”

Well time marched on

And the young boy

Became a man

And to everyone’s astonishment

His face came to look

Just like

The face in the mountain

Isn’t that

What we are to do as Christians

Study Christ’s life and love so long

Study his teachings so much

That when people look at us

They see a human being

Embodying the qualities of Christ

So as the little boy

Became the face in the mountain

Dear Lord---we pray

That we may become

Smaller more miniature versions of you

So that we can say---like Saint Paul,

“No longer I

But Christ who lives in me” Galatians 2:20

THE TIMING OF GOD

Have you ever WONDERED

About the TIMING of God?=

His timing is different-

You may think you

NEED something right now

But you WAIT and wait=

Maybe God is HOLDING out

Something BETTER for you

“MY TIMES are

In your hands

Deliver me

From the hands

Of my enemies

From those who pursue me” Psalm 31:15

Don't you EVER wonder

What God is waiting for

When you need something

Right NOW=when you need

HELP in a certain situation

And it doesn't

Seem to be coming

The TIMING OF GOD

Is different=he wants

To USE YOU=and your life

The REVEAL

The power of God

“Sow righteousness for yourselves=

Reap the fruit

Of unfailing love

And break up

Your unplowed ground

For it is TIME

To seek the Lord

Until he comes

And showers his righteousness

On you” Hosea 10:12

“For this was how

The promise was stated

At the APPROPRIATE TIME

I will return

And Sarah will have a son” Romans 9:9

“So Christ was sacrificed

Once=to take away

The sins of many

And he will reappear

A SECOND TIME

Not to bear sin

But to bring salvation

To those=

Who are waiting for him” Hebrews 9:28

The TIMING OF GOD

Is different=he may be

USING YOU

To demonstrate

His POWER

To the many

You may be IN NEED

Of a miracle

And think God=has failed you

If so=HOLD ON to

Your faith=and WAIT

What else=can you do?

It is POSSIBLE

That the Lord

Has PLANNED

An ever greater MIRACLE

For you

One that BENEFITS YOU

Glorifies God

And brings FAITH

To many=if not ALL OTHERS!

In the names of Jesus=and our ALL POWERFUL=ever living-loving FATHER!

God's TIMING=is RIGHT ON TIME

It’s not death

That scares me

But life

Living in a world

With murder

Not death

But life

Living in a world

With child predators

Not death

But life

Living in a world

With poverty and homelessness

Living in a world

That disrespects the aged

Not death-but life

Living in a world

Which values

Sex, money, and science

Above the respect

Of each and every human being

Not death-but life

Yeah

It’s not death but life

That terrifies me

Can we

Make this world

A better place

Not death

BUT LIFE

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO

Whatever happened to

The American Dream

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pa.

I was brought up in a middle-income family

To me, the American Dream

Was to meet someone, raise a family, get a job, and buy a home

With divorce rates hovering around 50%

And foreclosures at an all-time high

Not to mention, the economy, my questions are:

Whatever happened to the American Dream?

What is the American Dream for our kids today?

Is there an American Dream for our kids today?

In any case, I am proud to be an American

And free to choose how I want to live my life

Ps “While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat

His wife sent him this message:

“DON’T have anything to do

With that innocent man

For I have suffered a great deal today

In a DREAM because of him” Matthew 27:19

The prophet Joel said:

“In the last days, God says,

I will pour out my spirit on ALL people

Your sons and daughters will prophesy

Your young men will see visions

Your old men will DREAM DREAMS

……..

And everyone who call on the name of the LORD

Will be saved” Acts 2:14-21

GOD'S WAY TO OUR DEATINATION

 

GOD'S WAY TO OUR DESTINATION

When we are LOST=

On our way=to

Our destination

It is usually because-

WE are NOT FOLOWING

Our map or our GPS guide

SOMETIMES=we make a wrong turn

And we get lost

On our way too

LIFE is like that too=

Sometimes-we get OFF TRACK

And lose our way

We need to FOLLOW

The GPS of God=we need to do

Things his way=to get

To OUR DESTINATION

“YOUR WAYS=O Lord

Make known to me=

Teach me your paths.......” Psalm 25:4

We don't want

To GET LOST on our way=

For we may

MISS=an important appointment-

Dinner-or special occasion

And we don't

Want to get lost

In our life=for HEAVEN'S KNOWS

What we may be missing

We need to FOLLOW

GOD'S WAY

To arrive at our destination=

Or we=may never

Get there at all

We need to KEEP

Our spiritual life

On track too=

Let's all follow

GOD'S WAY to our DESTINATION

“Commit your WAY

To the Lord=

Trust in him

And he will do this.......” Psalm 37:5

“Start children off

ON THE WAY

They should go

And even when

They are old-

They will not turn from it” Proverbs 22:6

“But when you are tempted-

He(GOD)-will also

Provide a WAY

So that you

Can endure it” 1 Corinthians 10:13

Sometimes life goes OFF TRACK

Because we try

And do things

OUR OWN WAY

We don't want to do things

The right way=GOD'S WAY=

We get off of

OUR SPIRITUAL GPS

“.......by a new

AND LIVING WAY

Opened for us

Through the curtain

That is his body” Hebrews 10:20

Sometimes we might MISS our path

That we are supposed to be on

Because we we are BLINDED

By our own biases

Or the expectations of others

But when we spend

MORE TIME with God praying=

Our spiritual road map

Becomes CLEAR=

We FIND our way

With our SPIRITUAL GPS

Follow GOD'S LOVE=

Follow God's directions=and he

Will take you

To your PROPER DESTINATION

In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our ALWAYS GUIDING FATHER!

STAND UP AND WITNESS

 

STAND UP AND WITNESS

Are you a witness for God

And Jesus in today's world?

Do you LIKE feeling the love

Of God and Jesus in your heart?

BETTER yet how do you feel

When you run across or

Run into someone

WHO is a particularly COMMITTED Christian?

Today we read about

The troubling LOVE of God

About Herod and about John the Baptist

ONE of the most particular and

Committed CHRISTIANS of all time

He was NOT AFRAID to stand up

And witness-and he was jailed-

Murdered-and beheaded for it

“Herod feared John-KNOWING him

To be a righteous and HOLY MAN

And kept him in custody

When he heard him speak

He was very much perplexed

Yet he LIKED to listen to him” Mark 6:20

STAND UP and witness

Regardless of the consequences

That's what John did

Would you do it?

Would I do it?

That is what it takes

To be a committed Christian

In today's world

STAND UP AND WITNESS

“There was a man

SENT from God

Whose name was John

He came as a WITNESS

To testify

Concerning the LIGHT

So that through him

All might believe

He himself was not the light

He came ONLY

As a witness to the light” John 1:6-8

John testified to the LIGHT OF JESUS

That is our job too

To TESTIFY to the light

That has already come

WHEN we encounter anyone

LIVING in the light

It can be both terrifying

And attractive too

It can be scary to meet someone

Who KNOWS the heart and mind of Jesus

I TRY to know the heart and mind

Of Jesus

I try to stand up and testify

To the love-and forgiveness-

And kindness of God

But I UNDERSTAND how sometimes

It can be OVERWHELMING to people

Like John was with Herod

Like Jesus was with Pilate

GOD'S POWER-God's love can overwhelm us

Yet we still NEED to stand up and testify

We need to stand up and witness

For God and Jesus-UNTIL-

The end of time

“An honest witness

Tells the truth

But a false witness

Tells lies” Proverbs 12:17

“For WHERE two or three

Are GATHERED in my name

There I will be” Matthew 18:20

We need to STAND UP and witness together

About God and Jesus

And there they will be

RIGHT in the Midst of us

ALL the way-until

THE END OF TIME
