WHERE DID OUR HOPE GO

 

 

 

 

I road

The public bus today

 

Saw all the blank stares

Saw the long and desolate faces

Saw the look of hopelessness

In so so many of us

 

I ask myself

I ask you

 

WHERE DID OUR HOPE GO

 

Perhaps you are

Putting your hope

In all the wrong things

 

Hope is NOT visible

It is the looking

As to what is to come

It is KNOWING that

There is something better

 

“For in this hope we were saved

But hope that is seen

Is no hope at all

Who hopes for

What he already has

But if we hope

For what we do not yet have

We WAIT for it patiently”                                                         Romans 8:24

 

Perhaps you have a chronic illness

No known cause---no known cure

God forbid

Maybe even a terminal illness

 

Perhaps you are looking

For a scientific miracle

I wish for one for you too

 

Just remember

All miracles begin and end with

THE POWER of God

 

WHERE DID OUR HOPE GO

 

“Put your hope in God

For I will yet praise him

My Savior and my God”                                                     Psalm 42:5

 

Perhaps you have

Serious financial difficulties

Can’t feed your family

Or even yourself

 

PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD

 

“Command those who are rich

In this present world

Not to be arrogant

Not to put their hope in wealth

Which is so uncertain

Bu to put their hope in God”                                                   1 Timothy 6:17

 

Where did our hope go

Perhaps we are putting it in

All the wrong places

 

PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD

 

People have failed you

Broken relationships abound

A broken family

An estranged parent or child

 

PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD

 

“Not only so

But we also rejoice in our sufferings

Because we know that suffering produces perseverance

Perseverance---character

And character---hope

 

And hope DOES NOT DISAPPOINT US

Because God has pored out his love

Into our hearts

By the Holy Spirit

Whom he has given us”                                                             Romans 5:3-5

Just a little bit replaced

FIND A DREAM!

 

January 7^th

 

“Find A Dream”

 

 

Plodding along day after day

Never seeming to get anywhere

The world is holding you at bay

Sometimes even knocking you back

But you continue to work

To get back on the track

Until you find what it is

That you lack

Sometimes you never find it

But you keep looking for the way

 

Dreams have been shattered

Dreams have been broken

The dreams you once had

Are now only a token

But you make new dreams

You make new plans

Whether or not you can reach them

You don’t really know

But you’ve got to give it all you got

You’ve got to give it a go

 

You go out day after day

Doing what you have to do

Not wanting your new dreams

To go astray

You’re mindful of your only purpose

And you do whatever it is that you must

 

And then it happens again

Disaster strikes down all your dreams

You want to give up

You want to cry

But somehow you manage to capture some self-esteem

You ask yourself why

Why is it me

That fate must frown down upon

 

But then you look around to see

That somehow you just have to hang on

Until your soul is filled with glee

 

For one thing that’s true about dreams

No matter how many time they’ve been broken

No matter how many times they’ve become just a token

We can always create a brand new dream

And look for it in tomorrow

Fighting through our heartbreak

And all our sorrow

To plod along day by day

To somehow find a way

Until we find the dream

That we can look to and look to

We all

Have dark moments in life

 

With our health

With our finances

With our relationships

 

Trust God

Trust your faith

 

Put on the armor of God

Put on the armor of light

 

You receive a bad health diagnosis

Questionable as to what can be done

 

Put on the armor of God

Put on the armor of light

God told us

“You will never walk alone”

 

Trust God

Trust your faith

 

Jesus said,

“I am the Light of the World

Whoever follows me

Will never walk in darkness

But will have the light of life”                                               John 8:12

 

Put on the armor of God

Put on the armor of life

 

You lose your job

You lose

How you are going  to provide for your family

 

“Finally be strong in the Lord

And in his mighty power

Put on the full armor of God

So that you can take your stand

Against the devil’s schemes”                                               Ephesians 6:10 & 11

 

Darkness is going to come

In this life

Of that we can be sure

In who or what will you believe

Who or what will see you through

 

“You will never walk alone”

 

You have a broken marriage

Or a broken relationship with your child

Maybe even

You have no friends

Who or what

Are you going to believe

 

Trust in God

Trust in faith

 

“Take my yoke upon you

And learn from me

For I am gentle

And humble of heart

And you will find rest

For your souls

For my yoke is easy

And my burden is light”                                        Matthew 11:29

 

At some point in your life

Dark moments are going to come

In who or what

Are you going to trust

 

We are

Only guaranteed 2 moments

In life

 

This moment

And the moment

God calls us home

 

In who or what

Are you going to trust

 

“AND GOD SAID

LET THERE BE LIGHT”

TO DO HIS WILL!

 

TO DO HIS WILL!

 

A CHRISTIANS=one of the

Most important things

That we can do=IS

 To live a life

In accordance

WITH THE WILL OF GOD!

 

That is what Jesus

Always did=that is

The least

That we can do too

 

“Lord-if you wish-you can

Make me clean’=Jesus stretched

Out his hand=touched him=and said

‘I do WILL IT=be made clean’”                                                                                              Luke 5:12-13

 

Don’t you just want

To CHEER for this leper?

Doesn’t it feel so GOOD

To see Jesus

GIVE him what he asks for?

 

But it makes you WONDER

Why some people

GET HEALING=and some don’t

 

It brings up=

A PLETHORA of questions

WHY is one person healed=

And not another?

 

Why does ONE FAMILY endure

Such terrible tragedies=and another family

IS SPARED

 

Nevertheless=the least we can do

Is TRY to

LIVE by the WILL OF GOD=that is

 

What Jesus did=all the way

To his dying breath

TO DO HIS WILL!

 

“And he went-

A little further=

And fell on his face

And prayed=saying

 

‘O my Father=

If it is possible

 

Let this cup=pass from me

Nevertheless-not as I WILL

But as you WILL’”                                                                                                           Matthew 26:39

 

Jesus promises us

That if we ASK=we shall receive

But he does not specify what

 

We may ask for a

PYSICAL HEALING=but receive

A spiritual healing

 

So we should always try

To live=according

To God the HOLY FATHER’S WILL

No matter what our own

WILL may be

 

“Therefore=do not be unwise

But understanding=

What the WILL

Of the Lord is”                                                                                                                            Ephesians 5:17

 

Dear Lord=we pray=

HELP us always

TO DO YOUR WILL

 

And to trust in your will

ABOVE OUR OWN

TO DO HIS WILL!

AN ABUNDANT GOD OF GRACE

We WORSHIP an abundant God=

A God who-if he can-

GIVES US what we need

And what we NEED-at

ALL TIMES=is the ABUNDANT GRACE

Of God

So when you/I PRAY=

ALWAYS ask for his grace=then

You will have

The GRACE that you need

“God is ABLE

To make EVERY grace

Abundant for you........”                                                                                                2 Corinthians 9:8

YES our God-is a-

GOD OF ABUNDANCE=a God

Of extravagant love=

And a God who DELIGHTS-

In MAKING every grace

AVAILABLE to us

“You are

The most excellent of men

And your lips

Have been anointed

With grace

Since God

Has BLESSED you forever”                                                                                               Psalm 45:3

“Out of his FULLNESS

We have ALL

Received Grace

In place of grace

Already given

For the law

Was given through MOSES

GRACE & TRUTH came

Through Jesus Christ”                                                                                                John 1:16-17

“But the GIFT

Is NOT like the trespass

For IF many died

By the trespass of 

One man

How much MORE

Did GOD'S GRACE

And the gift

That CAME by the grace

Of the one man=JESUS CHRIST

YES!=our God=our Jesus=

GIVES GRACE to us-

In an abundance

There is a wrinkle though

We just NEVER KNOW

HOW that grace will come=or when

It may come in a

DIFFERENT WAY

Than we are expecting

But the CERTAINTY IS=if

we ASK for it=

The grace will come

IN ABUNDANCE

“You let people

Ride OVER our heads

We went through

Fire and water

But you BROUGHT US

To a place of abundance”                                                                                                 Psalm 66:12

“Whoever has

Will be GIVEN more

And they will-

Have an ABUNDANCE”                                                                                                    Matthew 13:12

“MERCY-peace-and love

MY PRAYER FOR SICKNESS

 

January 6^th

 

“My Prayer for Sickness”

 

 

I was feeling good

Better than I ever expected

Trying to do my best

To make the supreme connection

 

Then I got hit with a virus I guess

And my confidence has  become a little busted

I’ve been unable to work out

Unable to be myself

But I think I am still trusted.

 

So physically, I’m fighting a losing battle

And my mental state is on a downward roll

And I’m beginning a relationship that’s really cool

But if I don’t  get better, I’ll be in the whole.

 

But to my credit I’ve been down before

And with God’s help, I’ll come back once more

So now I’ll just have to reach back for that little bit extra

So now with a little common sense

And a little bit of rest

I’ll beat this test for sure.

 

Countless times I’ve said it, and countless times I’ll repeat it

Thanks again God once more.

OF HUMBLEST BEGINNINGS!

 

Jesus was the GREATEST PERSON

Whoever lived=he conquered death=

Yet he was also

A man of

THE HUMBLEST BEGINNINGS!

 

For God always SURPRISES US

In the way he works

USING the lowest and

THE MOST HUMBLE=

To advance his kingdom

 

We should all be

SO HUMBLE=

OF HUMBLE BEGINNINGS!

“The Spirit of the Lord

Is upon me

 

Because he has anointed me

To bring glad tidings

To the poor”                                                                                                                       Luke 4:18

 

Today we read about Jesus

And BEING REJECTED

In his hometown

 

THEY all thought they

Knew him=they could NOT UNDERSTAND

Who Jesus was=and what his MISSION was

In this world=and life

 

We too should be

OF HUMBLEST BEGINNINGS!

 

“When he makes inquisition

For blood=he remembers them

 

He does not forget

The CRY OF THE HUMBLE”                                                                                                  Psalm 9:12

 

“For thus says

The high and lofty ONE

That inhabits eternity-

Whose name is Holy

 

I dwell in the high

And holy place

With him=also that is

 

Of a contrite=and HUMBLE SPIRIT

To revive the spirit

Of the HUMBLE

 

And to revive the heart

Of the contrite ones”                                                                                                     Isaiah 57:15

 

It is NO COINCIDENCE

That many of the WORLD’S SAINTS

Were of=HUMBLEST BEGINNINGS!

 

Today we celebrate

Saint Andre Bessette-1845-1937-from Montreal

 

He was nearly DENIED ENTRANCE

Into his order=

CONGREGATION of the Holy Cross

 

He had poor health

And was always given

The most MENIAL of jobs

 

Doorkeeper-laundry worker-and messenger

Yet he carried out his jobs FAITHFULLY=

And to everyone’s surprise=he was part

Of some MIRACULOUS HEALINGS!

And went on=TO BE A SAINT!

 

So LIVE WITH HUMILITY

Like Jesus=and the SAINTS

Of this world=and be

OF HUMBLEST BEGINNINGS!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name of our MOST POWERFUL and humble Holy Father!
