THROUGH ALL THE SEASONS

 

WHERE I come from=Pittsburgh, Pa.

We have four SEASONS

Summer=spring=fall=and winter=

But down here in SOUTH FLORIDA=

We are lucky if

We have two=PARTICULARLT THIS YEAR

 

Nonetheless=wherever we

Are from=whatever season

That it is=GOD GUIDES US

With a compassionate heart

 

“The Lord will

GUIDE YOU ALWAYS=

And give you plenty=even

ON the parched land”                                                                                                      Isaiah 58:11

 

We are guided BY GOD=

THROUGH THE SEASONS

Of our lives too

 

The happy seasons=the sad seasons

The times of NEW LIFE=

The times of death=OUR GOD

GUIDES US!

Through all the seasons=of our life

 

But WHATEVER the season is

We have to LIVE

With God=IN OUR HEARTS

 

“Preach the word=

Be prepared IN SEASON=

AND OUT OF SEASON

 

Correct=rebuke=and encourage--------

With great patience=and careful instruction”                                                                            2 Timothy 4:2

 

Let us face it=LIFE IS

Really challenging us=right now

EVER SINCE COVID

We are=

IN the season of trials

 

But never worry=

OUR GOD IS GUIDING US

In and through=ALL THE SEASONS

 

How we CHOOSE=to deal

With these challenges

Is what life=IS ALL ABOUT

 

But we can be CONFIDENT

Of one thing=

OUR GOD IS GUIDING US

THROUGH ALL THE SEASONS

Of our life

 

“GUIDE ME=in your truth

And teach me=for you

Are God=My Savior

 

And my hope =is in you

All day long”                                                                                                                       Psalm 25:5

 

“When you walk=

THEY WILL GUIDE YOU=

When you sleep

 

They will watch over you

When you awake

They will speak to you”                                                                                                Proverbs 6:22

 

So stay close=to the Lord

THROUGH ALL THE SEASONS

Of your life

 

He will see you through

AND GUIDE YOU

Through=whatever challenges

You are facing

EVERYONE IS SUFFERING=OUR HOPE IS IN GOD

 

EVERYONE IS SUFFERING=OUR HOPE

IS IN OUR GOD

Are you SUFFERING?

If so=you are in

GOOD COMPANY

Everyone SUFFERS=I'm suffering

Even CHRIST suffered as he

Suffered DEATH on the CROSS=

A criminal's death

“It is CHRIST IN YOU=

The HOPE for GLORY”                                                                                           Colossians 1:27

EVERY DAY of the year-

SOMEONE is CARRYINIG suffering=

An anniversary of a death-

The LOSS OF health-or

Maybe even being TAKEN advantage of

Maybe even the LOSS of a love-

Or of a job=these sufferings

Are REAL and there is NO WAY

To get away from them

“But those who SUFFER-

He DELIVERS

In their suffering 

He speaks to them

In their affliction”                                                                                                   Job 36:15

“He was despised

And REJECTED by mankind

A MAN of suffering 

And familiar with pain

Like ONE

From whom

People hide their faces

He was despised-

And we HELD him

In LOW ESTEEM”                                                                                                   Isaiah 53:3

“NOT only so

But we also GLORY

In our sufferings 

Because we KNOW

That suffering produces PERSEVERANCE-

Perseverance-CHARACTER-

And character-HOPE

And HOPE does not put us

To shame

Because GOD'S LOVE

Has been POURED OUT

Into our HEARTS

Through the HOLY SPIRIT

Who has been GIVEN to us”                                                                                         Romans 5:3-5

OUR HOPE is

IN our God

Our hope

Is IN our Christ Jesus

Our suffering produces glory

And HOPE

What can we DO

With our sufferings?

Run away?  GIVE UP?

INFLICT pain on someone else?

No-No=our Jesus CARVES out

ANOTHER WAY=he lets

Suffering PRODUCE HOPE

Hope for GLORY by

UNITING our sufferings 

With those of GOD

Paul POINTS OUT=not a way

Out of suffering=but a WAY

In suffering 

HOPE=our hope IS

In our God

“WHY my soul=

Are you downcast?

Who so-DISTURBED-

Within me?

PUT your HOPE in God

For I will yet PRAISE HIM

My Savior=and my GOD”                                                                                              Psalm 42:5

POPE FRANCIS points out=that=

WITHIN US is hope=worked out=

In the FLESH=just like Jesus

We may SUFFER=but we will

Also FIND GLORY=like Jesus

SUFFER YES?=but our HOPE=

LIVES on FOREVER in God

And in Christ Jesus

In the NAME of Jesus OUR LORD=and

HIS MOST HOLY FATHER

There is a QUESTION=

WE all must ask ourselves

 

Are we living our LIVES=

Are we pursuing=our spiritual practices

BASED on duty=OR ON LOVE

 

For us to be SUCCESSFUL=

We must be real=we must

BE=genuine and SINCERE

We must BASE our lives

Because we LOVE=WITH ALL OUR HEARTS!

 

Our lives=

MUST BE BASED ON LOVE!

 

“The disciples of John=Approached

Jesus and said’=

 

‘WHY do we we=

And the Pharisees fast so much=

But your disciples=do not fast?’

 

Jesus answered them=

‘CAN the wedding guests

Mourn as long=as the bridegroom

Is with them?’”                                                                                                                  Matthew 9:14-15

 

I think we have

To look=a LITTLE MORE DEEPLY

At Jesus’ motivation

 

Jesus PICKED his disciples=

NOT for outward appearances

BUT FOR

Their CAPACITY to love=

The condition=OF THEIR HEARTS

 

It is not a question of what =but WHY

But why=we love

Our spiritual practices=

MUST BE BASED ON LOVE!

 

“He will LOVE YOU=

And bless you=and increase your numbers……..”                                                               Deuteronomy 7:13

 

“The Lord=

LOVE righteousness=and justice

The earth is full

OF HIS UNFAILING LOVE”                                                                                                       Psalm 33:5

 

“Hatred stirs up conflict=

BUT LOVE=covers over all wrongs”                                                                                 Proverbs 10:12

 

Jesus had=such a FULL LOVING HEART

For us all=IN HIS APOSTLES

He was=looking for those

Who had thar SAME QUALITY

 

He got it right=11 out of 12

A pretty good average=and he knew

The ONE that would fail him

 

HOW ABOUT US?

Are we FOLLOWING JESUS

Out of love=or because

It is JUST A DUTY

Our lives

MUST BE BASED ON LOVE!

 

“But God demonstrates

HIS OWN LOVE=for us in this

 

While we were still sinners

CHRIST died for us”                                                                                                                   Romans 5:8

 

It is all right=to have

SOME sense of duty=WE ALL DO

But we must be PRIMARILY MOTIVATED

BY LOVE

 

Love God=love Others

Our lives

MUST BE=BASED ON LOVE!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our EVER LOVING Holy Father God

HEAVEN'S ANGEL!

 

February 23^rd

 

“Heaven’s Angel”

 

 

You can measure how tall I am

You can measure how wide

You can measure my IQ and other skills

But you can never measure my desire and will

You don’t know what I have inside

 

Even with the best of machines

There’s many things they cannot see

They can’t see how hard I try

They can never measure my desire

 

There’s something you always wanted to do

But you’ve always been afraid to

Now go on and try

 

My conscience keeps telling me I can’t do it

But my willpower keeps saying go ahead and try

You’ll never succeed unless you try

Now go on reach down

See if you have what it takes inside

Farther

Reach--way way down

No

Way down

There you got it

You got what it takes inside

 

He’s got the pride of a lion

The courage of a bear

The mental determination of a bull

And the finesse of a deer

But he has the meekness of a lamb

And the heart of a dove

How can one person possess all these qualities

Surely he must be a gift from up above

 

He’ll stare you in the face

And tell you you’re wrong

Even with all the facts against him

You’ll start to believe him before very long

You’ve never seen a person with such conviction

You’ve never seen a man with so much belief in himself

There’s nothing  capable of stopping him

Not one single restriction

He belongs on a plateau all by himself

 

He’s got the pride of a lion

The courage of a bear

The mental determination of a bull

And the finesse of a deer

But he has the meekness of a lamb

And the heart and spirit of a dove

How can one person possess all those qualities

Surely he’s a gift from up above

 

He’s a man who hates to fight

He’ll do anything to avoid it

But if you get in his way

You’ll never beat him

If he believes he is right

And after he knocks you down

He’ll pick you up and tell you he’s sorry

And ask you if you are alright

 

He isn’t very tall

He isn’t very wide

He isn’t exceptional in his other skills

But you can’t measure his desire and will

You could never measure what he has inside

You just can’t measure how hard he tries

 

When he’s beset by a  challenge

One that looks like he’ll never do

He just reaches way down

Way way down

As far as he has to

Until he scrapes his inner soul

And finds what he needs inside

 

No matter what the situation

He is never beat

But you can’t help but like him

Because his feeling and gentleness show through

Regardless of how hard he tries

 

He’s got the pride of a lion

The courage of a bear

The mental determination of a bull

And the finesse of a deer

But he has the gentleness of a lamb

And the heart and soul of a dove

He is surely a gift from up above

WITNESS

WRESTLING WITH GOD

 

How many of us

Have wrestled with God

Over a particular matter

A particular decision

 

Maybe even promising God,

“If you’ll just do this for me

I will never ask for anything again”

 

In Genesis 32

Moses tells us

About an encounter Jacob has with a man

 

They wrestle all night

And when the man

Sees he cannot overpower Jacob

He touches Jacob’s hip

So that his hip becomes wrenched

 

The man says,
”Let me go, for it is daybreak”

Jacob responds,

“I will not let you go

Unless you bless me”

 

“What is your name, the man says?”

“Jacob”

The man said,

“Your name will be no longer Jacob, but Israel

Because you have struggled with God

And with men and have overcome”

 

The man went away

And Jacob knew

He had had an encounter with God

And lived to tell about it

But he walked with a limp

The rest of his life

 

Isn’t that the way with us

When we encounter our God

In prayer and in our life

 

Maybe getting what we want

Maybe not

 

But walking away

Knowing that we just had an encounter

With God--- and knowing that it will stay with us

The rest of our life

 

We pray to you Dear Lord

As we wrestle with you

On our journey through life

 

Wanting our own way and

Not accepting your way and will

For our lives

Yet knowing deep down

That your way is best

 

We pray

That as we wrestle with you

As we face the trials in our life

That we,

 

“Be joyful in hope

Patient in affliction

Faithful in prayer”

 

And that we

 

“Share with God’s people in need

And practice hospitality”

 

If we really and truly

Adopt this attitude

We know that we will never lose when

 

“Wrestling with God”

WE HAVE A CHOICE!

 

WE HAVE A CHOICE!=

(In this world)

 

EVERY DAY=when we wake up

WE HAVE A CHOICE!=to make

To LIVE by our Lord’s standards=

Or to

Live by the STANDARS=of this world

 

“Today=I have SET before you=

LIFE and prosperity=death and doom”                                                                            Deuteronomy 30:15

 

It seems like

AN EASY CHOICE=doesn’t it

But every day=MORE

Of us Americans=seem to be

CHOOSING death and doom

 

Jesus had a CHOICE

To make too=and

He CHOSE LIFE=over death

RESURRECTION=over the finality

Of the crucifixion

CHOOSE TO LIVE=by those standards

Of God’s own words=and ACTIONS

 

“I am the God=of Abraham

The God of Isaac=

And the God of Jacob

 

He is NOT=

The God of the dead=but

OF THE LIVING”                                                                                                                        Matthew 22:32

 

“But if SERVING the Lord

Seems undesirable to you=

THEN CHOOSE for yourselves=this day

Whom you will serve…….

 

But as for me=and my household

We will

SERVE THE LORD”                                                                                                                 Joshua 24:15

 

We all have

A CHOICE=IN THIS WORLD

To go on=WITH HOPE

And live=By the Lord’s example

 

Or=LET THE TRAPPINGS

Of this world=bring us down

Trappings=like sex=violence=drugs

Alcohol=and choosing to

HANG OUT=with the wrong people

WE HAVE A CHOICE!=

In this world

 

“When Jesus came ashore=he

Saw a large crowd

And felt compassion=for them

And healed their sick”                                                                                                        Matthew 14:14

 

Jesus could have=GIVEN UP

At any time =for he KNEW

The end

That he was FACING=he CHOSE

To move forward=and be AN EXAMPLE

OF HOPE=for others

 

We need to CHOOSE LIFE

And bring HOPE to others too

Through=GOD’S WORDS OF LIFE

 

“Yes my soul=find rest

In God=MY HOPE

Comes from him”                                                                                                           Psalm 62:5

 

“Not only so=but we also

Glory in our sufferings

 

Because we know=suffering produces perseverance

Perseverance=character

And character=HOPE

And HOPE does not=put us to shame”                                                                             Romans 5:3

 

WE HAVE A CHOICE!=

To make today=CHOOSE LIFE and God

Or to live by

The TRAPPINGS of this world

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of OUR HOLY PERFECT FATHER GOD!
