BELIEVING IN THE GREAT PHYSICIAN


God and Jesus are
THE GREAT PHYSICIANS
For all HEALING goes through them


MANY years ago
I had enough things happen to me
To kill me 20 times over


But I survived
Because God is-Jesus is
THE GREAT PHYSICIAN


“Those who are healthy
Do NOT need a physician
But the sick do


I have not come
To CALL the righteous
To repentance-but sinners” Luke 5:31-32


HONOR the great Physician
Have a LITTLE FAITH


WHEN we are seriously sick
We need to have FAITH
In a loving God
We need to have faith
That the GREAT PHYSICIAN
Wants us well


After all He puts all these
BEAUTIFUL health care workers
In our lives
To HELP us get well


They are tools of the
GREAT PHYSICIANS


And though I have had
A chronic illness ALL my life
I am STILL here some 40 years later
TESTIFYING for OUR GOD


The Great PHYSICIAN
Wants us healthy
He wants GOOD things
In our life


Jesus came to HEAL the sick
And the sinners=that is ALL
of us


HAVE a LITTLE FAITH
God IS working on your behalf


In fact-ONE of Jesus' own apostles
Was a Doctor
“Our dear friend-Luke-the doctor-
And Demas send greetings” Colossians 4:14


Our earthly life
Has an end
For all o us


But our HEAVENLY LIFE
Goes on forever


Jesus came to HEAL the sick
Have a LITTLE FAITH


“Go rather
To the LOST sheep of Israel


As you go-
PROCLAIM this message:
The kingdom of heaven
Has come near


HEAL the sick
Raise the dead
Cleanse those who have leprosy
Drive out demons


FREELY you have received
Freely give” Matthew 10:6-8


The Lord SUSTAINS them
On their sickbed


And RESTORES them
From their bed of illness” Psalm 4:3


All I can tell you
Is HE DID ME


He RAISED ME
To give a LIFETIME of loving God
And LOVING OTHERS
And giving testimony


YES-BELIEVE IN-The Great Physician
Of God and Jesus Christ
ONE DAY we will meet him


And until then
Have a LITTLE FAITH


GOD & JESUS HAVE YOUR BACK

The GREATEST THING going in this world-other than God
And Jesus himself


Is the HUMAN FAMILY


So much so-
That when JESUS entered this world
He ENTERED it
Through the HUMAN FAMILY


His Mother-Mary-his step-Father-Joseph-
And his ½ brothers


And he GAVE US the opportunity
To BELONG
To his FAMILY
By being INCLUSIVE with us-
NOT exclusive to his own family


“He replied to him,
'Who is my mother-
And WHO are my brothers?'”


“Pointing to his disciples-
He said,
'HERE are my mother-
And my brothers


For WHOEVER does the will
Of my Father in heaven
IS-my brother-my sister-
And mother'” Matthew 12:48-50


He wasn't excluding
His own
He was BEING INCLUSIVE to us


SURE we all have that crazy uncle-or aunt-
Who PACES off the rooms-or-
DOESN'T wear any underwear


That niece who is on her 3rd-
Boyfriend this year


Or that son or daughter-
Who CONTINUES to live at home-
And can't find a job


But NONE of this really matters
For what is at the HEART of a FAMILY
IS LOVE


And if you have that
YOU HAVE IT ALL!


THANK YOU LORD-for this
WONDERFUL FAMILY I was born into


I LOVE my family-my extended family-
And all my friends


Just like JESUS-you are ALL my family-
And I LOVE YOU!

Even when we don't like them

BEING KIND to each other
When we don't want to


A family is life

ACCEPTING them for who they are
NOT who you want them to be


A family is FORGIVING each other
When they acted in a way
That we don't understand-
Or-
When then don't even try
To lend a hand

LIKE SIMON OF CYRENE

LIKE SIMON OF CYRENE


Jesus had a CROSS
to carry-a physical cross
As well as the spiritual
And emotional sins of ALL MANKIND


WE have crosses to carry too
And we are to FOLLOW him-
To pick them up
And carry them-just like Jesus


“IF anyone wishes
To come after me


He must DENY himself
And take up his cross DAILY
And follow me” Luke 9:23


ANYONE who knows
The story of Jesus
KNOWS this carrying of the cross
Does NOT come easily


This CHRISTIANITY thing
Is NOT a walk
In the park
And it must be taken on
EACH and every day of our lives


We are all CHALLENGED DIFFERENTLY
Some-with a lifetime chronic illness
Like me
Some financially
And some in relationships
And some in EVERY AREA
Of our life


We all have CHALLENGES


For those of us
WHOSE burdens are fewer
Or whose difficulties and crosses
Are lighter


We NEED to understand
That we are NOT ABSOLVED-
We are CALLED upon to HELP others
Carry their crosses


Like SIMON of Cyrene
HELPED JESUS


“Therefore
I will BOAST all the more gladly
About my weaknesses


So that Christ's power
May REST on me


That is WHY-
For Christ's sake
I delight in weaknesses-
In insults-in insults
In persecutions-in difficulties


For when I am weak
Then I am STRONG” 2 Corinthians 12:10


For then=FEELING STRONG=I can
Step out and HELP OTHERS
CARRY their crosses


Like Simon did with Jesus


It is ANOTHER SIGN
From God-that we TURN
Our good fortune into a cross


A cross to SHARE the pain
And heartache of others


To PRAY-to heal-and to LOVE PERFECTLY
Like Jesus
With a touch of HELP for others


Dear Lord-WHEN I prove sufficient
In carrying my own cross
Like Jesus
Help me to HELP OTHERS
Carry theirs


“HELP US-God our Savior-
For the GLORY of your name


Deliver us and forgive our sins
For your name's sake” Psalm 79:9


“I lift up my eyes
To the mountains-


WHERE does my HELP
Come from?” Psalm 121:1


Dear Lord-let us ALWAYS
LOOK to God and Jesus
For help


And when our crosses
ARE a little lighter


Help us to be WILLING
To STEP FORWARD and take up
The CROSS for others


Just like Simon of Cyrene
HELPED our dear Lord-Jesus Christ

A NEW LIFE WITH A NEW VIEW

A NEW LIFE WITH A NEW VIEW


Jesus' life-death-and RESURRECTION-
CHANGED EVERYTHING for us
For our journey through life


I t gave us a new perspective-a
NEW VIEW=and a new HOPE
in life


“BLOW the trumpet
In Zion!
Proclaim a fast
Call an assembly
GATHER the people........” Joel 2:15-16


And just as OUR JOURNEY
Is ongoing-we must know
It is not an easy walk


It takes us through
Descending and ascending walkways
High walls on either side
Of us-and mountains and crossings
That we thought we could
NEVER CROSS


And that doesn't even begin to
Take into account
The spiritual and emotional challenges
Of our journey


SINCE Jesus did it already
We have a PATH to FOLLOW
And it will provide us
A new life and a NEW VIEW


ONE WITH HOPE


“For your ways
Are in FULL VIEW
Of the Lord


And he examines
ALL your paths” Proverbs 5:21


“In the PRESENCE of God
And of Christ Jesus


Who will judge the living
And the dead
And in view of his appearing
And his kingdom


I GIVE you this charge:


PREACH the word-
BE PREPARED in season
And out of season;


Correct-rebuke-and ENCOURAGE
With great patience and careful instruction” 2 Timothy 4:1-2


Dear FRIENDS=you will go through seasons
Of much DOUBT


But because of Jesus
You have a life with
NEW PERSPECTIVE-NEW HOPE


PRESS onward
Through the journey
With other travelers


Give love and RECEIVE LOVE
Give HOPE and receive hope


Travel the reality
Of the new life
THIS LENTEN SEASON


And to this new reality
of the new life
Let us travel in FAITH-
In hope and in LOVE


LET US give all we have
This LENT and have nothing left
But faith-hope and love
Just as Jesus did


“And NOW these three remain
Faith-hope-and LOVE


But the GREATEST of these
IS LOVE” 1 Corinthians 13:13


And at the end of OUR LENTEN JOURNEY
When we have completed it


We will have a new life-a
new perspective-and a NEW VIEW


A life like Jesus'
That will last


HAPPY LENT EVERYONE!

THE LAST SHALL BE FIRST

THE LAST SHALL BE FIRST


Do you like to finish
LAST at anything?


It used to be-when I
Was a younger man-I had
A COMPETITIVE STREAK-I couldn't
Bear to not win-let alone
FINISH LAST


I grew out of that
And LEARNED to live IN God-
To live in compassion-of others
HOPEFULLY a little more like Christ


But Jesus PROVED that there
IS HOPE for all of us=
In the 10^th chapter of Saint Mark's gospel
He says something-that is as usual=ASTOUNDING


“But MANY that are first
Will be last-


And the last-
Will be FIRST” Mark 10:31


In that same chapter
Is a story of a RICH
Young man-who wants to KNOW
What he has to do
To INHERIT the KINGDOM OF GOD


Jesus tells him-that he MUST
KEEP the commandments
And the rich young man says
That he does that


And then Jesus tells him
To GO & SELL everything
That he owns and give the money
To the poor


WHO could do such a thing?
And of course this young man
Couldn't


THE LAST shall be first


The crippled-the lame-the sick-
And those who AREN'T CHOSEN
In this world


The kid picked last
The kid that is BANISHED to play in right field


The LAST shall be FIRST


ANOTHER example of the last
And the first-is the story
Of the rich man and Lazarus-
The BEGGAR


Lazarus is a POOR man
Who BEGS
Outside the gate every day
For a SCRAP of food


The rich man-NEVER-
SHOWED Lazarus any mercy


Shortly thereafter=they BOTH DIE
And Lazarus goes to HEAVEN


And the rich man-
Does NOT make it
And now he is begging
And he is TOLD NO


“Father Abraham-have pity on me
And SEND Lazarus to dip
The tip of his finger in water
And COOL my tongue
Because I am agony
In this fire” Luke 16:24


So what about us?
WHAT about us=who do their BEST
But come up SHORT?


Peter asks Jesus the question
For us


“Peter spoke up-'WE have
Left EVERYTHING to follow you'” Mark 10:28


“Truly I tell you,' Jesus replied, 'NO
ONE who has left home or brothers
Or sisters-or mother or father or children
Or fields for me-and the GOSPEL


Will fail to RECEIVE 100 times
As much-
….....
And in the age to come-ETERNAL LIFE


BUT many who are first
Will be last-and the last-FIRST'” Mark 10:29-31


Dear Lord=HELP ME to let others
GO AHEAD of me-
And be CONTENT to be LAST & LEAST today

IT IS THE REAL THING

IT IS THE REAL THING


There USED to be
A slogan for Coca Cola-called


IT'S THE REAL THING


But I think that also
APPLIES to SIN in today's world
Sin of transgressions and omissions
Toward others
In today's world


Sin is REAL-
It's the REAL thing-and it is
INTENT from one person
To HARM another
In one way or another


I WISH we lived
In a PERFECT WORLD of love
But we don't


“THEN I acknowledged-
My sin to you


My guilt I covered NOT” Psalm 32:5


That IS the great thing about
Our sin-WE can BE FORGIVEN
By the wronged party-and BY GOD
If we just acknowledge our guilt


Sin-like coca cola
IS the real thing


Sin is SO REAL
That Jesus had to go
To the CROSS-for us


And sin is NOT just mistakes
Or poor judgment


It is an actual wrongdoing-
Done with intent-by one person
Against another


“Then I acknowledged
MY sin to you


And did NOT cover up
My iniquity


I said-'I will CONFESS
My transgressions to the Lord'
And you FORGAVE
the guilt of my sin” Psalm 32:5


I want to ACKNOWLEDGE
ALL the wrong I have done
In my life


Intentional-and unintentional


And I want to ASK
For your forgiveness
And the FORGIVENESS of God


I am also FORGIVING
ALL who have harmed me
INTENTIONALLY-or other wise


“And forgive us OUR TRESPASSES
As we forgive those
Who have TRESPASSED against us”


FORGIVE 70 x 7
Forgive infinitely


“Then Peter came to Jesus
And asked-
'Lord-how many times
SHOULD I forgive my brother
Or sister
Who sins AGAINST ME?
Up to seven times'


Jesus answered:
'I tell you-NOT seven times
But seventy-seven times'” Matthew 16:21-23


SIN is so REAL that
SEVEN of the 150 or so psalms
ARE PENITENTIAL PSALMS


And psalm 32 is titled-
“REMISSION OF SIN”


My friends-SIN is real
IT IS THE REAL THING


And the BEST we can do
Is to FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER


And CONTINUE to TRY to LOVE
ONE ANOTHER PERFECTLY-in this
IMPERFECT WORLD

WORRYING MAKES YOU MISERABLE

WORRYING MAKES YOU MISERABLE


HEALTH can be a MAJOR worry
And it has been for me
OVER the years


You can worry about
What your Primary CARE Physician says
Or what your gastro specialist says


Or your blood pressure
Or what exercises you
ARE going to do
Today and tomorrow


But the TRUTH IS:
You have LITTLE control over it
Other than eating right-
Exercising-and taking your medications


I found out the hard way
ALL you can do is
TRUST GOD and let it go


He has a PLAN for you-
For everyone of us-
And it is GOOD-
If you work with him


“CAN any of you
Add a single moment
To your life-span?” Matthew 6:27


Hardly-
Worrying is more likely
To TAKE TIME from your life-span
And just leave you FEELING MISERABLE


And it doesn't give
You ANY more control over
Any such matters


Worrying-or obsessive thinking
Causes TROUBLE
For all of us


It is a REFLEX-or-
Learned behavior-and even IF something
Bad does happen-worrying
CONTROLS NOTHING
And leaves us feeling miserable

Do NOT worry about
What to say
Or how to say it


At that time
You will be given
What to say


For it will not be you-
Speaking-but the SPIRIT
Of your Father-
Speaking through you” Matthew 10:19-20


Worrying DOES make us miserable
And it does us NO GOOD
It diminishes our enjoyment
Of simple things in life like:
Sparrows-flowers-crystal blue ocean water-
And nature


BUT when we ALLOW GOD'S SPIRIT
To speak through us in:
“Joy-gentleness-goodness-kindness-love-
Faithfulness-patience-peace- and Self-control”


We find ENJOYMENT-in-
The SIMPLE things of life


We learn to TRUST GOD
And let worry go


“Some trust in chariots
And some trust in horses


But WE TRUST
In the name of
The LORD OUR GOD” Psalm 20:7


“TRUST in the Lord
With all your HEART
And lean not
On your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5


YES!-do the BEST
That you can do-and-
LET GO of all worry


It makes you miserable-and
Adds nothing to your life


Jesus INVITES you
LET GO & LET GOD


Let us
GIVE IT A TRY TODAY
