LIFE IS A DIVINE GIFT!

LIFE IS A DIVINE GIFT!


I think on SOME LEVEL
That I have ALWAYS KNOWN
That life is a
DIVINE GIFT


I felt it in my heart
I felt it on MY MIND
And I FELT it all THROUGHOUT
MY SOUL


“.................you may come
To SHARE in the DIVINE NATURE...............” 2 Peter 1:4


But IF I ever had
Any doubt


I KNEW it for SURE
When I survived three
LIFE and death intestinal obstructions
In 1977


And I knew it for sure
WHEN I made my PROMISE
To God=on my death bed


“To LIVE for my FAMILY=
My friends=and ALL people EVERYWHERE”


I came so CLOSE to
LOSING it all=
To losing MY LIFE


I know NOW=that
As long as you have life=
YOUHAVE HOPE


LIFE IS A DIVINE GIFT=
And if you are




GIVEN the GIFT of aging
You are GIVEN a gift
That many never get


“For since
The CREATION of the world
GOD'S invisible qualities---------------


His eternal power
And DIVINE NATURE
Have been clearly SEEN


Being understood
From which has been made


So that people are
WITHOUT EXCUSE” Romans 1:20


“The WEAPONS we fight with
Are NOT the weapons
Of the world


On the contrary
They have DIVINE POWER
To demolish strongholds” 2 Corinthians 10:4


God has BESTOWED on us
The GIFT of LIFE


And as long as we have LIFE
We have HOPE=because with
LOVE & LIFE=
Anything can happen


THANK YOU LORD
For this gift of LIFE


It is truly a DIVINE GIFT
Of HOPE


“But the eyes
Of the LORD
Are on those
Who fear him


On those whose HOPE
IS in his UNFAILING LOVE” Psalm 33:18


“For in this HOPE
We are SAVED
But hope that is SEEN
Is NO hope at all


Who hopes for
What they already have?” Romans 8:24


My friends=YOUR LIFE is a
DIVINE GIFT FROM GOD=
Make the MOST of it
And GIVE IT BACK to the Lord

SHARING A MEAL!


I have SHARED a meal
With MANY of you that
I SEND my poems to


With many of you=
A LOT MORE than one


In many RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS=the
SHARING of meal
Is rich with SYMBOLISM=Jesus
Shared a meal with many
Of his friends and disciples


It is great camaraderie
It is great INTIMACY
It is FAMILY and FRIENDSHIP


“While they were eating
He took BREAD=said the BLESSING
Broke it=and gave it to them
And said=


'TAKE it=this is
MY BODY'” Mark 14:22


The sharing of HIMSELF
The sharing of ourselves
SHARING A MEAL!


The Eucharist and Passover are bearers
Of a SHARED moment
Of a people


God REVEALS himself through the
RITUAL of eating and drinking
As we REVEAL OURSELVES
And WHO we are


The SHARING of a meal
The sharing of ourselves


“The GENEROUS
Will themselves be blessed


For they SHARE their food
With the poor” Proverbs 22:9


“SHARE with the Lord's people
Who are in NEED
=PRACTICE HOSPITALITY!” Romans 12:13


“Because=
There is ONE LOAF
We=who are MANY
Are one body


For we ALL SHARE
The one loaf” 1 Corinthians 10:17


SHARE a meal with your
Brothers and sisters in Christ
Share a meal with your
Brothers and sisters IN GOD


After all=isn't that what
Jesus DOES with us
In the NEW COVENANT?


GIVES us his body and blood
To eat and drink


Partake with Jesus
PARTAKE in his LIFE


God gave=Jesus GAVE
US HIMSELF


When we leave the
SACRED TABLE
We must BEAR GOD within us


SHARE A MEAL!=share the
BLESSINGS of God and Jesus
THROUGH our JOURNEY through this life


“Again=it will be
Like a man
Going on a JOURNEY


Who called his servants
And ENTRUSTED his wealth
To them” Matthew 25:14


When Jesus SHARES A MEAL
With us=he entrusts us
With his BODY AND BLOOD


The FOOD for our JOURNEY
THROUGH LIFE


LET US SHARE a meal with each
Other=OVER JESUS


In the BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST=AMEN

BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER




In chapter 22
Of Saint Matthew's GOSPEL
Jesus gives us
The two greatest commandments


Of course
The first commandment is:


“LOVE the Lord your God
With all your heart
With all your soul
And with ALL your mind” Matthew 22:37


“And the second
Is like Unto it
Thou shalt love thy neighbor
As thyself” Matthew 22:39


And INCLUDED
In LOVING our neighbor
Is BEING KIND to that person


“For you have said
My KINDNESS
Is established forever” Psalm 89:3


In other words
Be kind to everyone
AT ALL TIMES


VERY difficult to do
But something
We can all aspire to do


And while
We should be kind
To everyone


We should be especially kind
To the NEEDY


“He who despises his neighbors
SINS
BUT BLESSED
Is he
Who is kind to the NEEDY” Proverbs 14:21


“He who OPPRESSES the poor
Shows contempt
For their maker


But whoever
IS KIND to the needy
HONORS GOD” Proverbs 14:31


And it doesn't often
Take a lot of effort
To be KIND to someone


A warm smile
A handshake
A HUG


Maybe a birthday
Or a get-well card


Just some little action
That says:


“I KNOW
What you are going through
And I know
What you have been through”


Just some little action
That lets a person
Know that
You CARE about hem


And in James 1
James tells us
WHAT PURE RELIGION IS


“RELIGION that God Our Father
Accepts as PURE AND FAULTLESS
Is this:


TO LOOK AFTER orphans and widows
In their distress


And to keep oneself
From being polluted
By the world” James 1:27


So LOVE ONE ANOTHER
and always remember
To keep being KIND

AT EVERY MOMENT=TURN TO

The prayer BELOW=is a
GREAT PRAYER for when we are
Feeling forsaken=abandoned=
WORRIED and anxious


BUT it is also a prayer
To SAY at all times=
WHEN we want to TURN
To the ONE=our GOD=
Whose name is LOVE


“O God=you are my God
Whom I seek


For you my flesh pines
And my soul thirsts
Like the earth


Parched=lifeless=and
Without water” Psalm 63:2


Our GOD is the God
Whose name is LOVE


OUR God is the ONE
Who we are always SEEKING=
And our God is seeking
To WAKEN US at
Every moment


God LOVES US=each and every MOMENT
Of our lives


“................that the mirth
Of the wicked is BRIEF






The JOY of the godless
Lasts but a MOMENT” Job 20:5


“For his anger
Lasts only a MOMENT
But his FAVOR


Lasts a lifetime
Weeping may stay
For the night


But REJOICING
Comes in the morning” Psalm 30:5


“We did not
Give in to them
For a MOMENT


So that the TRUTH
Of the gospel
Might be PRESERVED for you” Galatians 2:5


AT EVERY MOMENT=turn to
The ONE whose name
IS LOVE


At every moment
God INVITES us
Into a DEEPER relationship
With him


He is the ONE
We life up our hands
We lift up our HEARTS
And we lift up
Our VOICES to too


So let us TURN to God
Let us CALL OUT to God


Not only when
We are FEELING parched and lifeless
But at ALL TIMES


So let us
CRY OUT to God
EVERY MOMENT


And let us TURN to GOD
Throughout the day
At EVERY MOMENT


“TURN from evil and
DO GOOD
Seek peace=
And PURSUE IT” Psalm 34:14


Dear LORD=Your LOVE is
BETTER than life itself


Help us to seek you
AT EVERY MOMENT
Of our lives=and be
FOREVER GRATEFUL


In Jesus' name and the name of HIS ALL LOVING FATHER

US=covers us=our imperfections=

He KNOWS our sins
He knows our flaws


He knows the DAMAGE
We have done to others
And he KNOWS the damage
That has been to US


GOD LOVES all of us=
The good and the bad
He loves us in WHOLE=
TOTALLY and UNCONDITIONALLY


God loves us=in
OUR ENTIRETY


“For the ENTIRE LAW
Is fulfilled=
In keeping this ONE command:


'LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR
As yourself'” Galatians 5:14


Yes God=love us in
Our ENTIRETY=love us
IN our wholeness


SCARS and all=perfections
And imperfections


“Jesus did many other things
As well


IF every one of them
Were WRITTEN DOWN
I suppose
That even the WHOLE world


Would NOT have room
For the books
That would be written” John 21:25


“MAY God himself
The God of PEACE
Sanctify you
Through and through


May your WHOLE spirit=
Soul=and body
Be kept blameless


At the COMING
Of our Lord Jesus Christ


The ONE who calls you
Is FAITHFUL=and he will
Do it” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24


Yes=God loves us
THROUGH AND THROUGH
He loves us IN OUR ENTIRETY
He loves the WHOLE us


The good us
The bad us=the IN-between us=
Everything that makes us=BE US


Dear God=Dear Lord=
Help us to be WORTHY
Of your LOVE for us=for me


“As a prisoner
For the LORD

WORTHY of the calling

GOD LOVES THE LOWLY!


God loves the LOWLY=
God loves the COMMON man


Mary is CHOSEN to be
The MOTHER of God=and she
Is a lowly SERVANT


Which is a FAMILIAR THEME
In Scripture=and look at the
POOR family God chose


Jesus=a HUMBLE servant= and
His mother Mary=NOT from the rich
And powerful group


When we look at Scripture=
Let us LOOK at WHO
GOD WORKS THROUGH


Those with NO standing in society
To WARRANT attention=and nobody
That will get any SPECIAL treatment


GOD LOVES THE LOWLY!


“Mary said
'My soul PROCLAIMS
The GREATNESS of the Lord


My spirit REJOICES
In God my SAVIOR


For he has
Looked with FAVOR
On his lowly servant


From this day
ALL generations






WILL call me BLESSED'” Luke 1:46-48


And WE DO
God LOVES the lowly
And the common man


GOD LOVES THE HUMAN FAMILY!


Jesus' friends will be
Manual laborers-civil servants-
And the NEEDY


And Jesus' mother will be
A young PEASANT woman


Jesus will LIFT UP
The lowly
While DIMINISHING the arrogant-
The rulers=and the RICH


“He has brought down
RULERS from their thrones


He has LIFTED UP
The humble” Luke 1:52


“See my servant
Will act WISELY


He will be raised
And LIFTED UP
And highly exalted” Isaiah 52:13


“Just as Moses
LIFTED UP the snake
In the wilderness


So the SON OF MAN
Must be LIFTED UP


That EVERYONE who believes
May have ETERNAL LIFE
IN HIM” John 3:14-15


Mary's prayer=the MAGNIFICAT
Is a PEEK
At the kingdom


Where your DIGNITY AND WORTH
Are BASED on
What is in your
MIND AND HEART
(God's KINGDOM)


And NOT on any material success
Or status


GOD LOVES THE LOWLY!=and
His KINGDOM is made up
Of MANY of us


In the names of Jesus=Mary=and HIS DIVINE

WITH A PURE HEART

WITH A PURE HEART


WE are called to
Live a life with
INTENSE COMPASSION for others


And to LOVE with a
PURE HEART=Jesus had the
PUREST HEART=in the HISTORY
Of the human race


The least we can do
Is TRY to follow him=and
KEEP our hearts PURE


“Since you have PURIFIED yourself
By obedience=
To the TRUTH


For sincere BROTHERLY love=
Love one another INTENSELY
With a PURE HEART” 1 Peter 1:22


LOVING one another
With a pure heart
Takes intense COMPASSION


ESPECIALLY for the poor=
The LOWLY=and the homeless


And it takes
A HUMBLE pure heart
To LOVE the lowly=
And to love all others
With INTENSE compassion


WITH A PURE HEART


“CREATE in me
A PURE HEART=O Lord=




And RENEW a steadfast spirit
WITHIN ME” Psalm 51:10


“WHO can say
'I have KEPT
My heart PURE


I am clean=
And without sin?'” Proverbs 20:9


“BLESSED are
The pure in HEART
For they
Will SEE GOD” Matthew 5:8


Dear Spirit of JESUS=HELP us
To have a PURE HEART
For others today


Especially the lowly
And the NEEDY


And to love ALL OTHERS
With an INTENSE compassion


For if we have NO COMPASSION
For the lowest and the
MOST needy among us


WHO are we going
To have compassion for?


“As a FATHER
Has compassion
On his children


So the LORD
Has COMPASSION
On those who fear him” Psalm 103:13


“In a surge of anger
I hid my face
From you
For a moment


But with EVERLASTING KINDNESS
I will have COMPASSION
On you
Says the Lord
Your REDEEMER” Isaiah 54:8


Dear Lord=you are the GOD
With GREAT COMPASSION=
You are the ONE=
Who NEVER ceases to LOVE US
WITH A PURE HEART


HELP us to love all others=
Especially the lowly

And with a PURE HEART
