SAINT LUCY---VISION

 

 

Lucy was a virgin

A martyr

And today she is considered to be

The patroness of the blind

 

She died in the year of 304

During the persecution of Diocletian

 

She was

A wealthy Sicilian

Who refused marriage offers

Gave her goods 

To the poor

And was accused

By one of her suitors

To the authorities

 

The judge ordered her

To be sent to a brothel

And become violated

 

But she became miraculously immovable

 

He tried to have her burnt

Also unsuccessful

 

Finally---she was killed

By a sword

 

Legend has it

That her eyes too---were torn out

Only to be miraculously restored

 

Dear Lord---I pray---we pray

That in a world

That has become blinded

By your vision for it

 

Blinded by greed

Blinded by sexual lust

And just blinded

By our own pure selfishness

 

We pray

That we have the faith

Of Saint Lucy

And we pray for your vision

 

Your vision for our world

And your vision---for each of us individually

And all of us collectively

To be returned to us---TO YOU

Ps        FAITH is defined as trust in and reliance on GOD

 

“Abraham believed the Lord, and he credited to him as righteousness”         Genesis 15:6

 

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness-and all these things

Will be given to you as well-therefore do NOT worry about tomorrow

For tomorrow will worry about itself-

EACH DAY has enough trouble of its own”                                             Matthew 6:33-34

 

“In the same way-FAITH by itself

If it is not accompanied by action-is dead”                                                James 2:17

 

WOUNDED WARRIORS=WE ARE ALL WOMDED!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WOUNDED WARRIORS=We are ALL

WOUNDED=IN SOME WAY!

 

NO MATTER=who we are=No matter=what we do=or

What and who=we are INVOLVED with=we all=IN LIFE=have

Something in COMMON=with ONE ANOTHER=and that is=WE
ARE ALL WOUNDED IN SOME WAY!=we are WOUNDED WARRIORS

IN LIFE=Often times=WOUNDED in the same way=”On that day=

The deaf shall hear=the WORDS of a book=And out of gloom and darkness=

The eyes of the blind shall see”                                                                                                                   Isaiah 29:18

 

Actually=we have TWO things in common=WE ARE ALL WOUNDED=and

Our HOLY FATHER God=and His SON Jesus Christ=have the CAPACITY

TO HEAL each and=EVERY ONE of us=What are YOUR WOUNDS?

SOMETHING IN COMMON=we are all WOUNDED WARRIORS!

 

Are they HEALTH WOUNDS?=Are they financial wounds wounds?=Do

You have RELATIONSHIPS=Falling apart?=These KINDS of things HAPPEN

To all of us=WE ARE ALL WOUNDED WARRIORS!=What kinds of things=WOUNDS=

Are you CARRYING through this life?=”WOUNDS from a friend=Can be trusted=

But an enemy multiplies kisses”                                                                                                              Proverbs 27:6

 

“But he was=PIRECED for our transgressions=He was crushed for our

Iniquities=The punishment=that brought us peace=was on him=And

BY HIS WOUNDS=we are HEALED”                                                                                                            Isiah 53:5

 

PEOPLE=throughout all of time=have SHARED the SAME WOUNDS=the

EXTERIOR WOUNDS=But our INTERIOR WOUNDS too=the EMOTIONAL and

Spiritual BROKENNESS and pain=we all go through too=WE ARE ALL

WOUNDED WARRIORS!=in one way of another=OTEN in similar ways

 

LUCKY for us=We have a LOVING and living God=The Father=and SON=in

Jesus Christ=We have a GOD=who puts the MIRACLE=in our healing=who

WALKS with us=through the MIDDLE=of our BROKENNESS=and works

TO HEAL US=for each of us NEED THEM=and the Lord is COMING BACK

Real soon=to heal us=from our brokenness=and COMMON WOUNDS=WE

Are all WOUNDED=IN SOME WAY!

 

“I said’=’Have mercy on me=Lord=HEAL ME=for I have sinned=Against

You’”                                                                                                                                                                          Psalm 41:4

 

“Jesus said’=’The Kingdom of heaven=has come near=HEAL the sick=

Raise the dead=Cleanse those who have leprosy=Drive out demons=Freely

You have received=freely give’”                                                                                                               Matthew 10:7-8

 

“One day=Jesus was teaching=and Pharisees and teachers=of the law

Were sitting there=They had come from every village=Of Galilee=and

From Judea and Jerusalem=And the POWER of the Lord was=with Jesus to

HEAL THE SICK”                                                                                                                                                 Luke 5:17

 

The people of this world=CANNOT HEAL our common wounds=NOT DOCTORS

Not priests or preachers=NOT family members=or real close friends=They

CAN HELP US ALONG=to KEEP on moving forward==But OUR WOUNDS=

Can only be HEALED  long term=by the ONE AND ONLY=Holy Father God=and

His Son Jesus

 

They are THE MIRACLE WORKERS=They are the ones=who CAN HEAL US=from

OUR COMMON WOUNDS=for we are ALL WOUNDED WARRIORS=in this world=

In one way or another

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the NAME=of our ever living=ever LOVING=ever healing

And MIRACLE WORKING=Holy Father God!

CHASING RAINBOWS

 

 

Chasing rainbows

In the sky

Looking for loving

Looking for God

Sometimes that is

All I want to do

Is chase rainbows

In the sky

 

The colors are luminous

The decision is unanimous

Sometimes all I want to do

Is chase rainbows

In the sky

 

Chasing rainbows

Chasing love

Chasing God

And all his ways

 

I know

I can never capture them

But I get

A feeling of pleasure

From chasing rainbows

LOVE IS NOT JUST WORDS=AGAIN!

 

 

 

 

HAVE BEEN LAYED UP=with INTESTINAL ISS UES=TRYING TO

GET GOING AGAIN=I LOVE YOU ALL!

 

 

LOVE IS=NOT JUST WORDS!=

(It is an ACTION TOO)

 

Some people =TALK a lot=some people MEASURE their

WORDS=but regardless of=however much we TALK=Our talk=

CAN BE CHEAP!=But more than that=We must REMEMBER LOVE=

Is an action too=so WHEN =we LISTEN to Jesus’ GOSPEL OF LOVE=

To ACT on those words too=”Not everyone=who says to me’=’

‘Lord-Lord’= will enter THE KINGDOM…….”                                                                                Matthew 7:21

 

We Christians=have to BUILD FOR CHRISTMAS==we have to

BUILD=and get OUR LOVE=ready for the Lord=WAITING ON=the

Coming of our Lord=But our ENTIRE CULTURE=has already jumped

AHEAD to Christmas==But we CHRISTIANS are Building=and

WAITING for the Lord to COME=at CHRISTMAS=BRINGING LOVE

And HOPE for the world is=NOT just words=BUT ACTION=LOVE IS=

ACTING out of love=FOR OTHERS=Just like Jesus Christ

 

“And I tell you=that you are Peter=and on this ROCK=I will

BUILD MY CHURCH”                                                                                                                           Matthew 16:18         

 

“Now I commit you to God=and to the word=of his grace=which

Can=BUILD YOU UP=and give you an inheritance=among all those=

Who are sanctified”                                                                                                                                  Acts 20:32

 

“By the grace=God has given me=I have laid a foundation=as a wise

Builder=and someone else=is building on it=But each one=should

BUILD WITH CARE”                                                                                                                             1 Corinthians 3:10

 

Jesus BUILT the Church=on the ROCK of Peter=who was ALWAYS

Ready to ACT=Peter was a DOER=Together with JESUS=and all the other

APOSTLES=they built the Church=out of ROCKS OF LOVE=Rocks

Like SERVICE=Rocks like justice=Charity and love=Jesus had the teachings

The words of LOVE=but together they were DOERS=and ACTED

On that love=Jesus’ LOVE=was not just words=BUT ACTIONS=Actions

Like MIRACLES=HEALINGS=and death on the cross=for us all=ACTS OF LOVE!

 

“Each one=should test their OWN ACTIONS=Then they can take pride

Without comparing themselves=to someone else=for each one

Should carry their own load”                                                                                                                       Galatians 6:4

 

“They claim to know God=But by their own ACTIONS=they deny him=

They are detestable-disobedient=and unfit=for doing anything good”                               Titus 1:16

 

“In the same way=FAITH-by itself=If it is not accompanied=BY ACTION=

Is dead”                                                                                                                                                               James 2:17

 

My DEAR BROTHERS and sisters=and friends of Christ=Jesus’ words

Of LOVE=are fantastic=but LOVE IS AN ACTION TOO=as DEMONSTRATED=

By Jesus’ life=and his death

 

Get to LOVING YOUR ENEMY=SERVING others=with LITTLE acts of KINDNESS=BE

 

AWARE that your life and LOVE=is not just words=BUT ACTIONS TOO=Storms

Come=winds blow==But God’s houses STANDS=because they are BUILT

ON ROCK=For the Holy Father God of LOVE=and his Son Jesus Christ=GIVE

The KINDNESS of love to all others=for they KNOW=LOVE IS
AN ACTION TOO!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our EVER BUILDING=God of love=

Rock=and ACTION=in this world=The Holy Father God!

THREE BEST FRIENDS

 

 

My mother always said

That she had three best friends

 

There was Aunt Betty-my dad’s cousin

Her and mom shared everything

And as they grew up

Aunt Betty and her family

And our family were often together

 

Aunt Betty was loyal-kind-sincere-

And full of love

But she could be tough

When she had to be

 

Then there was Aunt Karen-my Uncle John’s wife

Karen grew up in a little town in West Virginia-called Franklin

We spent all of our holidays with John and Karen

And their family growing up

We had so much fun together that it was unbelievable

They were kindred spirits

 

Then there was my mom’s friend-Diane

Diane worked with my mom

She was 24 years younger than my mom

She has remained my mom’s friend-and our family’s friend

To this day

Even though we now live a 1,000 mules away

She continues to call a couple of times a week

 

A couple of honorable mentions to Ella and Carole Lee

Ella was the woman who hired my mom

When she went back to work at the billing department

Of the hospital

Carole Lee was a woman my mom worked with

Both became family friends

 

Ella has been gone over twenty years now

And we no longer have much contact with Carole Lee

But we hear bits and pieces about her through Diane

 

For my mom’s friends-here’s to you

Ps        Today is my Aunt Karen’s birthday

            Outside of my sisters-and four nieces

            She is probably the closest person

            That I have left in this world

 

            I have known Karen since I was about ten years old

           So many memories-I wouldn’t know where to start

 

           I love you Karen-You will be in my heart forever
