GOD IS STILL SPEAKING

 

 

There is a church that I once belonged to

Whose motto was:

 

“GOD IS STILL SPEAKING”

 

I believe that God speaks through each and every one of us

Each time we:

 

LOVE GOD with our WHOLE heart, whole soul, whole mind

And whole strength

 

Love our neighbor as our self-each time

We treat another

As we ourselves-would like to be treated

 

Every time that we forgive someone something

 

Every time that we try to live the Beatitudes

And use our money, time, and kindness

To try and help someone less fortunate than ourselves

 

God is STILL SPEAKING through each and EVERY ONE of us

Other disciples=Were the EARLY ONES=BEARING WITNESS=to the Lord=

And his GOSPEL=In all cases=I believe=They were MARTYRS=EXCEPT

For John the apostle=Whom Jesus loved=and HE was a LIVING MARTYR=

With his life=On the ISLAND of Patmos=”With great POWER=The apostles=

BORE WITNESS=to the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus……..”                                          Acts 4:33

 

WE are all=Every SINGLE one of us=Called to Bear witness=TO THE ONE=

WHO Came Before us=We are Called=TO BEAR WITNESS=with out lives=and

EXAMPLE=as well as WITH our WORDS and testimony=IN our families=THROUGH

Our families=and every one else=WE TOUCH=BEARING WITNESS=To the ONE=

WHO CAME BEFORE US!

 

“A good tree=Cannot BEAR bad fruit=and a bad tree=Cannot BEAR good fruit:”   Matthew 7:18

“You did not choose me=But I chose you=and appointed you=So that you might

Go and BEAR fruit=--------Fruit that will last--------and so whatever you ask=in

Jesus was ONE of a KIND=The world=had NOT seen=the LIKES of him before=and

Will never see another GOD/man=Like him again=THROUGH HIS WITNESS=to the

Holy Father God=and to ALL of us=He INSPIRED the early apostles=and disciples=Like

Saints Paul and Barnabas=to PREACH=in his name=They served AS WITNESSES=to

The RISEN Jesus=The Christ

 

This MANTLE=has fallen to us today=To PREACH=in the Lord’s name==In an era

Of Coldness=Indifference=Ingratitude=Luke warmness=and REJECTION=To the Holy Father

God and Jesus=And His Son=it falls to US

 

The 21^st CHRISTIAN Apostles of Christ=to BEAR CONTINUING WITNESS=to the ONE=

WHO HAS COME BEFORE US!=”ONE WITNESS=is mot enough to convict anyone=

Accused of any crime=or offense=They may have committed=A matter must be=

ESTABLISHED=by the testimony of=TWO OR THREE WITNESSES”                              Deuteronomy 19:11

We should=Have an ARMY of modern day WITNESSES=Testifying to those

AMAZING MIRACLES of Jesus=and BRINGING him alive=ALL OVER AGAIN=In

This the 21^st century=NOT JUST WITNESSES=But bearing HIS LOVE=by word=by deed

And by example=WITNESSING TO=THE ONE+WHO CAME BEFORE US!

 

Just like Jesus’ Cousin John did=”He himself=Was not the light=He came only as

A WITNESS=To the light”                                                                                                                               John 1:8

That is OUR JOB too=My dear brothers and sisters=To give WITNESS=to the LIGHT=

To the healings and MIRACLES=and to give TESTIMONY=to his Teaching and Preaching

WITNESSING to the Lord=Modern day EXAMPLES=Just following=THE ONE WHO

CAME BEFORE US!

 

“But you will receive power=When the Holy Spirit=Comes on you=and you will be

MY WITNESSES=In Jerusalem=and in all Judea and Samaria=and to the ENDS of

The earth”                                                                                                                                                            Acts 1:8

That is what=The EARLY apostles did=and that is EXACTLY=what we should be doing=

We may NOT have=to die=as the early apostles did=for the CAUSE=But we Can still

BE Modern day witnesses=by WORD AND DEED=Wherever we are=ALL the days of

Our life

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our FOREVER LIVING=forever loving=forever

Catherine lived

From 1337 to 1380

 

She was

The youngest of 20 children

And from an early age

Was devoted to a life

Of penance and prayer-despite parental opposition

 

She refused

To consider marriage

And became a Dominican tertiary

 

She began to mix with other people

And began to nurse the sick-in hospitals

Along with her disciples

Which included both men and women

 

She taught many to reform

Through a TOTAL love of God

 

She never learned to write

But wrote 383 letters

Expressing her philosophy

Through dictation

 

Her holiness

Was centered on Christ’s crucifixion

And she saw this

As the SUPREME love of God-for man

 

She received much criticism

Especially during the last 5 years

Of her life

When she became involved

In the politics

Of both state and church

 

She suffered a stroke

On April 21^st 1380

And died 8 days later

 

Her life story

Was written by Raymond Caputa

Her friend-and later

Master General of the Dominican order

 

This led

To her canonization in 1461

With the quality of her writings

And her membership

In the Dominican order

Bringing her much support

 

She became a figure

Of international importance and influence

Became Siena ‘s principal Saint ( along with Bernard of Siena )

And was believed to be responsible

For bringing the papacy

Back to Rome

 

Her common emblem

Is the lily

And she was declared

A Doctor of the church-in 1970

 

Her feast day is April the 29^th

The apostle Thomas=And Thomas’ encounter with Jesus=MOVES him=

From fear and doubt=To a PERSON=with deeper PEACE and faith=Our

God DRAWS CLOSER to Thomas=and the other apostles=Just as he draws

CLOSER TO US=As we FIGHT Through=Our daily fears and doubts=to

BECOME PEOPLE of faith=Just like the EARLY APOSTLES

 

“No one can=Come to me=Unless the Father=Who sent me=DRAWS THEM=and

I will raise them up=On the last day”                                                                                                   John 6:44

“And I=When I am lifted up=From the earth=WILL DRW ALL PEOPLE to myself”          John 12:32

The apostle Thomas=DOUBTED that Jesus=Had appeared to the other apostles=

But Jesus came back=and APPEARED to Thomas and said=”Put your finger here=

See my hands=Reach out your hand=and PUT into my side=STOP DOUBTING and

And that is GREAT ADVICE=to all of us=For we all=ME and you=have doubts=just

As Thomas did=So we should NOT be so hard on Saint Thomas=GOD DREW CLOSER=

To Saint Thomas=After the Resurrection=Just as he DRAWS CLOSER to us=His 21st

CENTURY CHRISTIAN APOSTLES

 

“The Lord is=CLOSE to the broken hearted=and saves those who are=Crushed in spirit”

“He tends his flock=Like a shepherd=He gathers the lambs=in his arms=and carries them=

Future=Nor any powers=Neither Height nor depth=Nor anything else=In all creation=

Will be able to=SEPARATE US-from the LOVE of God=That is in Christ Jesus our Lord”

Dear Lord=WE PRAY=on this our DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY=That we REALIZE=That

Let us face it=we all

Have a lot of ANXIETIES

In today’s world

 

We have COVID=we have our

Own individual= illnesses and limitations-

Financial issues=and relationship problems

 

The ONLY WAY

To get through all of this

Is to pray=

AND PRAY CONSISTENTLY!

 

Set a designated TIME aside

EACH DAY

To say your prayers

 

“Eli=thinking her drunk

Said to her…….

‘Sober up

From your wine’”                                                                                                                  1 Samuel 1:13-14

 

I guess that is

One way

To get through our anxieties=

To drink a little

 

But an even BETTER WAY

IS TO PRAY

And to PRAY CONSISTENTLY

 

“And Samuel said

‘Gather all Israel

 

Ana I will PRAY=for you

Unto the Lord’”                                                                                                                1 Samuel 7:5

 

“But you

WHEN YOU PRAY-

Enter into your closet

 

And when you

Have shut the door

 

PRAY to your Father

In secret=and your Father

Who sees in secret

Will reward you openly”                                                                                                    Matthew 6:6

 

“Likewise the Spirit

Helps us in our infirmities

What we should PRAY FOR

Some difficult anxieties

For prostate cancer=and for what

Seems like

The tenth or fifteenth INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION

 

But I am getting through it

BY PRAYING CONSISTENTLY

And by staying CLOSE to God

And to all of you

 

MY GOD=and the prayers and

ENCOURAGEMENT of all of you

Are getting me through it

The MESSAGE=was to the PRINCES=and People of Jerusalem too

 

People were ASKING Ezekiel=WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

 

Ezekiel was an EXILED MAN=acting as IF=He were going into exile

ALL OVER AGAIN

 

Ezekiel EXPLAINED=

The EXILE=was not just=for the People already in Babylon

But for the people of Jerusalem and Judah too

 

It was for Prominent MEN=Including Princes=They would

BE brought low=and have to=BEAR their own BURDENS

 

DEFEAT coming=DELIVERANCE not coming=

SHAME would be covering their faces

 

King Zedekiah of Judah=Would NOT ESCAPE EITHER

-God would SCATTER EVERYONE=No help to be forthcoming

 

 

King Zedekiah=would EXPERIENCE CRUELTY=at the hands of the Babylonians=

Though they were not=AS CRUEL as the Assyrians=They were CRUEL nonetheless=and

YAHWEH REVEALED =in his judgment

THE SIGN OF THE BREAD

 

Eating bread and =Drinking water=would come with WORRY

 

-God told Ezekiel=to ACT OUT=another EXPERIENCE

 

TRAUMATIZED=Could not eat or drink=WITHOUT

Anxiety=Quaking and Trembling

 

WHEN the siege was over=THE CITIES=would be laid waste

Ie.     People would be=CARRIED into captivity=and

          The land would be DESOLATE

ANSERING a false proverb=THINGS would CONTINUE as before

 

THE People thought=The days would be PROLONGED=and

Things would CONTINUE as BEFORE

Ie.     DOOM was coming=The PROVERB was not true

 

This proverb=would CEASE TO EXIST=In Israel

 

-Things would NOT Continue as before

There would be=FULFILLMENT of every VISION=

I wonder

What Jesus would say today

If Jesus could see our 5o’clock news

 

Where person after person

Is criticizing each other

Where person after person

And/or all of society

Is trying to take another person down

 

The truth is

I know what he would say

And you do too

Because in fact—he said it:

 

“Do not judge

Or you will be judged

And in the same way

You judge others

You will be judged

And the measure you use

It will be measured to you”                                          Matthew 7:1&2

 

And in Luke 6:36—Jesus says:

 

“Be merciful—just as your father is merciful”

 

On October 5^th, 1938

A young religious

By the name of Sister Faustina ( Helen Kowalska )

Died at Our Lady of Mercy in Cracow, Poland

 

She had had only 3 years

Of very simple education

And her tasks in the convent

Were very very menial

Usually in the kitchen or the garden

 

In repeated revelations to Sister Faustina

Jesus’ message to her was

“To trust in him” 

 

To trust

In the Divine nature

Of his heart

 

On February 22nd, 1931

Our Lord and Savior appeared to Sister Faustina

Bringing with him

A wonderful message of mercy

For ALL of mankind

 

Jesus I trust in you

Mercy not judgment

 

Mercy for us all

If we believe

 

He told Sister Faustina:

 

“Mankind will not enjoy peace

Until it turns in confidence

To My Mercy”

 

Mercy for us all

If we lay our lives

And our failings

If we lay them down

At the foot of the cross

And his Divine Heart

That is WHAT HAPPENED=to the APOSTLES today=Then Jesus REVEALED

Himself to them=for the THIRD TIME==After being RAISED from the dead=and

AGAIN=they had NO IDEA who he was

 

Jesus standing there=AT DAWN=After they had been out all night=Asks them

IF they caught anything=And when they said=”NO”=He tells them to TRY AGAIN=

They are INCREDULOUS!=”Jesus said’=’THROW out your net=on the right side=Of

The boat=and you will find some’=”When they did=They were UNABLE to haul=

The net in =Because of the LARGE NUMBER of fish”                                                          John 21:6

 

And isn’t that=THE WAY it is=My brothers and sisters=WHEN we finally wise up=and

START LIVING our lives=THE LORD’S WAY=I can ONLY speak for myself=But I never

FOUND what=I needed in this life=UNTIL I started living out of love=THE LORD’S LOVE

Living in my HEART=SUCCESS=will surely come=With OUR GOD OF LOVE!

 

“Be strong and courageous=Be careful to obey=All the law=My servant Moses=

Gave you=Do NOT turn from it=To the right or to the left=That You may BE SUCCESSFUL=

SUCCESS WILL SURELY COME!=With our GOD OF LOVE=The old Testament Prophets

Found that out=The early APOSTLES=and disciples of Christ=FOUND that out=And if

WE FOLLOW the Lord=You and I will find that out too!=For we are The 21^st century apostles and CHRISTIANS of this world=So keep TRYING=to live the Lord’s WAY=IT makes way=even

 In difficult times in this world=It DID FOR ME!

ONE MISSION

 

 

We have one mission

One mission in life

To learn to love God and all others

 

Lord-why is it so difficult

Why is it so hard

People don’t want

To love you as much as we say

 

It’s hard work-to love

When people are being mean and cruel

It’s hard work to keep loving

People who are being rude

 

One mission

One mission to learn to love

One mission

To learn to forgive

Lord-why is it so hard

I think it’s just selfishness

 

It’s just for ourselves

That we don’t want to live

 

One mission-to live

One mission-to forgive

One mission-to learn to live like God

But it’s just for ourselves

That we want to live

 

Lord-please help us

With our mission

And that is

To learn to live like you

This is our mission

To live with so much love

So much kindness

So much forgiveness

That people will see the WORD OF GOD come alive in us

NECESSARY FOOD FOR THE JOURNEY

 

 

 

 

 

 

NECESSARY FOOD=FOR THE JOURNEY

 

We are ALL=On a JOURNEY=Through this world=and IF we are smart=

We are TRAVELING THIS JOURNEY=With the Lord=and his Holy Father God=

For he left us two things=That are ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY=To make it

Through this world=At least for me=THE ECHARIST=His body and blood=and

HIS WORD=and the WORD=Of His HOLY FATHER GOD!=”And it happened

That=While he was with them=at table=He took BREAD=Broke it=and

GAVE it to them”                                                                                                                                Luke 24:30

 

NEITHER is more IMPORTANT=Than the other one=In my ESTIMATION=For

We need them BOTH=NOT just to survive=but also to THRIVE=in this world=

BOTH are NECESSARY FOOD for the JOURNEY=”Therefore=IT IS NECESSARY=

To submit=to the authorities=NOT only because of possible punishment=but also

As a matter of CONSCIENCE”                                                                                                      Romans 13:5

 

Our Jesus=is walking with US=And the SACRIFICE=of his BODY and blood=as

Well as his WORDS=BURN within us=The Risen Christ=Is walking with us=and

LIVING in our hearts=Living in our SOULS=and Living in our minds too=NECESSARY

FOOD=for the JOURNEY=His Body and blood=Living in us

 

“My people=Have committed two sins=They have forsaken me=The spring of LIVING WATER=

And have dug two cisterns=Broken cisterns=That cannot hold water”                       Jeremiah 2:13

“I am the=God of Abraham=The God of Isaac=And the God of Jacob=He

Is not the God of the dead==BUT OF THE LIVING”                                                                  Matthew 22:32

“Whoever believes in me=As the Scripture has said=RIVERS OF LIVING WATER=

Will flow from=Within them”                                                                                                                 John 7:38

 

We need THE EUCHARIST=We NEED the body and blood=and we need the=SPIRIT

Of God=LIVING WITHIN US=It is NECESSARY FOOD=FOR THE JOURNAY=Our HEARTS

Are BURNING=as our hands are REACHING =for those SOULFUL WORDS of God

 

It does=NOT FILL=our bank accounts==but it does=FILL UP OUR LIVES UP=on the

Journey=It NOURISHES our FAITH=and awakens=THE LORD’S LOVE=that is

LIVING deep within us=These two things are=THE TWO NECESSARY INGREDIENTS

For our JOURNEY through this life=The body and blood of CHRIST=and the WORDS

Of God=Are needed to Believe and witness the RESURRECTION=They help us=not

ONLY to survive=but to THRIVE=in this world

 

“Fix these WORDS of mine=In your hearts and minds=Tie them as symbols=on your

Hands=and bind them=On your foreheads”                                                                            Deuteronomy 11:18     

“The unfolding=OF YOUR WORDS=gives light=it gives understanding=to the simple” Psalm 119:130

“Simon Peter answered him’=’Lord to whom shall we go?=You have the WORDS of

ETERNAL LIFE’”                                                                                                                                          John 6:68

 

So BUCKLE UP=for the JOURNEY=My dear brothers and sisters=It is going to be a

TOUGH RIDE=But that you already know=But we will=NOT only survive=but THRIVE=

If we take the NECESSARY FOOD=THE EUCHARIST=and the WORD OF GOD!

 

IN Jesus’ name=and IN the name=of our EVER LIVING=ever loving=EVER FOOD

For our journey=THE EUCHARIST=and the HOLY WORD OF GOD!

Children and women

Are being molested

Are being abused

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

People are living

On the streets

People are having trouble

Feeding their kids

And making ends meet

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

People are getting inadequate health-care

In some cases

No health-care at all

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

Gay and lesbian people

Are being excluded

In every walk of life

What do we care

Isn’t it “in” to hate them

It’s none of our concern

 

Jesus said,
