THE CORRUPTION of Jerusalem=and her LEADERS
-THE GUILT=and the JUDGMENT of Jerusalem=THE BLOODY CITY
-God told EZEKIEL=to pronounce JUDGMENT=Upon the city
-For many sins=INCLUDING INJUSTICE=Leading
To death and violence
-Jerusalem=Was held to a HIGHER STANDARD
Because they had=
THE WORD=Prophets and priests of God
=SHOW her abominations Ezekiel=
Including=IDOLATRY=Unfaithfulness=and FOLLOWING Pagan cities
JUDGMENT was coming soon=and it was their OWN FAULT
(the end of YEARS OF COMING)
Jerusalem=Could not expect
Sympathy=From surrounding nations
Ie. Jerusalem=WOULD
BE a mockery=to all the world
LINES 6-12
THE MANY sins=of Israel and her PRINCES
THE FIRST 5 verses=IN Ezekiel 22=God highlights the SINFUL
CITY=and the
The sinners=BEGINNING=with the PRINCES of Israel
-INSTEAD of honoring God=The Princes USED their power
For violence and self-serving ways
INSTEAD of CARING=for families=and the VULNERABLE of society
They used=and despised them
Their sins=Were NOT only against the community=
But against God Himself
They worshiped idols=The IDOLS on the mountains
-They despised HOLY THINGS=and the Sabbath=and
SERVED Immorality=and perversion
Ie. INCLUDING the
abominations of a NEIGHBOR’S WIFE
-FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION=of their own community
Ie. Usury profit=and
EXTORTION from Neighbors

GOD Beats his fists=Against Jerusalem’s corrupt leaders
God HATED=their dishonest profit=and DISHONEST COURTS
BEATING HIS FISTS
I will SCATTER YOU=among the nations=FINALLY=
When their shame=CAME to the nations=They would
UNDERSTAND GOD’S JUDGMENT
LINES 17-19
THE FURNACE OF JUDGMENT
-GATHERING into=God’s furnace of judgment
-ONCE PRINCES=Israel=has become DROSS to God
(Ie. THE IMPURITIES
OF METAL)
-PEOPLE fled to Jerusalem=THINKING they would be safe=
But GOD=was gathering them there=FOR JUDGMENT
LINES 20-22
THE JUDGMENT=of God’s MELTING=In God’s furnace
The ANGER and FURY of God=would melt the people=
Ie. THE BABYLONIAN
ARMY=would burn the city
SILVER LINING
MELTING SILVER=Intent is to purify
God would PURIFY the people=of Israel through JUDGMENT

THE SINS of prophets=Priests=Princes=and people
The SIN of Israel’s prophets
A land that is NOT CLEANSED
-The ENTIRE land=was dirty and defiled
-GOD’S GREAT PURPOSE=was to SPIRITUALLY and morally=
CLEANSE THE LAND
-THE FALSE PROPHETS of Israel=were like a CONSPIRACY
The false prophets=TOOK instead of giving=
They were PROMOTING THEMSELVES

THE SIN of=ISRAEL’S PRIESTS
-The priests of Israel=did NOT SERVE and
TEACH THE PEOPLE
-They did NOT DISTINGUISH=between the Holy and the UNHOLY=or
The clean and unclean
-They did NOT KNOW the difference=They
COULD NOT INSTRUCT THE PEOPLE
-They did NOT HONOR=God’s law=or the SABBATH THEMSELVES
-God was being PROFANED=Instead of BEING GLORIFIED
LINES 27-29
THE SINS of ISRAEL’S princes=Prophets=and its people
-The leaders were LIKE WOLVES=Instead of FAITHFUL SHEPHERDS
-The false prophets=spoke LIES=In the Lord’s name
THE PEOPLE of the land =FOLLOWED ITS LEADERS=
And PREYED off of the WEAKER INDIVIDUALS=
Through violence and oppression
LINES 30-31
They searched=for a man=to STAND IN the gap=
GOD LOOKED=for a man=to bring=STRENGTH=stability and
security
To Israel=and stand IN THE GAP BEFORE ME
Ie. Abraham=Moses or
David
The man in the GAP=would FIGHT FOR GOD=but
God found NO ONE=to fill the role
Because there was NO ONE=In Jerusalem=That was SPIRITUALLY
CLEAN=and
NOTHING could turn it back
