FALSELY PUNISHED=For what the Father’s did

According to the PROVERB==The CHILDREN=were

Being punished=for what THE FATHERS DID

Th children=had a SOUR TASTE=in their mouth

 

-According to the PROVERB=GOD WAS BEING UNFAIR

God did NOT LIKE=the proverb=Even though it was popular

PROPHETS were a POPULAR FORM of media=in the ancient world

The ANSWER to=THE FALSE PROVERB

 

God told them=ALL SOULS=Belong to God

Ie.      BOTH the FATHERS and the Children

 

-The soul that sins=SHALL DIE

God has AUTHORITY=over all souls

Ie.      FATHERS and sons

JUDGMENT over every guilty soul

 

LINES 5-9=THE PROMISE OF LIFE=for the RIGHTEOUS MAN

If FAITHFUL to the Covenant=Made with Moses

Got that=My dear BROTHERS AND SISTERS=We will EXPERIENCE suffering=and

Death=me too=NOTHING=NO ONE=will ever be able to=TAKE AWAY OUR JOY=

Because of Jesus’ Resurrection=and because=If we are BELIEVERS=we will experience=

ETERNAL JOY in heaven=With Jesus and the Holy Father God=and in the end=

OUR JOY=WILL NEVER BE TAKEN AWAY=OR REDUCED!

 

“Splendor and majesty=are before him=Strength and JOY=are in his

“ON what=were its footings set=Or who laid its cornerstone=-------While the morning

Jesus COMPARED the=Anguish and grief=Of the apostles and disciples=To a

WOMAN in childbirth==and in pain with labor==For after the baby=was BORN=She

No longer remembered the pain=Because of the JOY=a NEW child brings

 

While women=and men too=WHEN we experience pain=NEVER FORGET IT=and

NEITHER did the disciples=FORGET Jesus’ crucifixion and death=WE are left with JOY=

In the end=and delight=FOR EASTER MEANS=He is RISEN=from the dead

OUR JOY=WILL NEVER BE REDUCED!=For Jesus Christ and=The Holy Father God=LIVE in us=

And someday=We will=FIND ETERNAL LIFE=In them

 

“Here is my servant=Whom I have chosen==The one I love=In whom=I DELIGHT=I

Will put my Spirit in him=and he will proclaim Justice=to the nations”                              Matthew 12:18

Are experiencing=LATCH ON to the YOKE=of the Risen Jesus=and the Holy Father God=

They knew pain=But they are NOW EXPERIENCING JOY=Someday we will too=For

Our JOY=In the Risen Christ=has conquered all=THE LORD IS RISEN!=Alleluia !=

“For what is our hope=Our joy=Or the crown=In which we will glory=In the presence=

Of our Lord Jesus=when he comes?=Is it not you?=Indeed you are=OUR GLORY

In the 15^th chapter

Of Saint Luke’s Gospel

Jesus tells us the story

Of the lost son

And his loving father

 

We call it

The story of the Prodigal Son

 

What is interesting

Is never once in the story

Is the word, “prodigal” used

 

The young son

Sets off for a distant land

And squanders his wealth

On wild living

 

How many of us

Haven’t made a mistake or two

When we were young

 

When famine hits

And after he has squandered everything

He decides to go home

And throw himself

On the mercy of his father

 

But to his surprise

Instead of being angry

His father throws a party for him

 

To the father’s surprise

The older brother

Refuses to join the party

 

He feels he has been slighted

Because he has been loyal and dependable

 

Which brings us to the point

Which of us isn’t guilty of something

Something done or something left undone

 

For every sin committed

There are 100 good deeds

Left undone

 

For every violent act

There are 100 acts of

Coldness, indifference, and condescending attitudes

 

We ALL deserve

A second chance

 

As Dickens wrote,

“There is so much bad in the best of us

And so much good in the worst of us

It ill becomes any of us

Throughout the NEW TESTAMENT=Jesus tells us=He is going to

HIS FATHER’S HOUSE=well today=He ACTUALLY DOES=Wouldn’t have

Been great=TO BE A WITNESS to that=None of us=are probably going to=

THE FATHER’S HOUSE=as Jesus did=But we can=still LIFT UP OUR HEARTS=to

Heaven=and be A LIVING WITNESS=to Christ’s life=to Christ’s death=and to

HIS RESURRECTION=On our way HOME=in hope=to THE FATHER’S HOUSE=the

House of God the Father and Jesus=”……..He was lifted up=and a CLOUD took

Him=from their sight”                                                                                                                         Acts 1:9

 

Jesus had an INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP=with his Father=as MOST of us do=

With ONE MAJOR EXCEPTION=The Father God=Is NOT our ACTUAL FATHER=and

YET he is=For he has=ADOPTED all of us=and that makes us=CHILDREN OF GOD=

And brothers and sisters=to OUR Lord Jesus=Let us LIFT OUR HEARTS=to

THE FATHER=As we wait for Jesus=to ASCEND into HEAVEN=with the

FATHER GOD=ON OUR WAY=to the Father’s House too!

 

“He LIFTED me=Out of the slimy pit=Out of the mud and mire=He set my feet

On a rock=and gave me a firm space to stand”                                                                      Psalm 40:2

“No one has ever gone to heaven=EXCEPT the one=who came from heaven=--------

The Son of man=Just as Moses LIFTED up the snake=In the wilderness=so the

SON OF MAN=Must be LIFTED UP=That everyone who believes=may have ETERNAL

LIFE in him”                                                                                                                                       John 3:13-14

“And I=When I am LIFTED UP=from the earth=Will draw all people to myself=He

Said this to show =the kind of death=He was going to die”                                          John 12:32-33

 

 

THE SCRIPTURES=make some reference to the ASCENSION=but the details

Are very sketchy=and ASCEND HE DID=sending us HOPE=through the Holy Spirit

Of God=AT PENTECOST=May we Internalize=The HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD==Into our

Hearts and minds==ON THE WAY=TO THE FATHER’S HOUSE too!

“Jesus said to them’=’The times and occasions are set=BY MY FATHER’S =own authority=

And it is not for you=to KNOW when this will be……..After saying this=he was TAKEN

Up to HEAVEN=as the apostles watched him=and a CLOUD hid him=from their

Sight’”                                                                                                                                                            Acts 1:7-9

 

What a sight=THIS must have been=What an event TO WITNESS=for the apostles=

That were there=On their way=TO THE FATHER’S HOUSE=Someday=hopefully

YOU and I=Will MEET the Father too=We can then=LIFT UP our hearts=to the

Father and Jesus=IN hope of HEAVEN=And maybe we  will=even hear this=

“Well done=Good and faithful servant!=You have been faithful=with a few things=I

Will put you=in charge of many things=Come and SHARE=YOUR MASTER’S

HAPPINESS!”                                                                                                                                                Matthew 25:21

Today May 26^th=We CELEBRATE the feast=Of a great Saint=Who many KNOW

As a humorist and a jokester=He lived with UNBOUND cheerfulness and wisdom=

“Let Israel BE GLAD in their maker=Let the children of Zion=Rejoice in their king”         Psalm 149:2

 

He lived from 1515 to 1595=and was ONE of the great SAINTS=of the 16^th century=

A century KNOWN=for its SAINTS==He founded the Oratorians =and is known as=

ROME’S SECOND APOSTLE=He took Great DELIGHT-in being known as=a CHILD of=

The Holy Father God and Jesus=and his laughter and HIS=Love were contagious=Saint

Philip was known as=A HAPPY FOOL FOR Christ=and we should all=BE HAPPY

FOOLS FOR CHRIST=In today’s world=as we are ALL FOOLS=to someone or something=

IN THIS WORLD=I hope I am known=as a HAPPY FOLL FOR CHRIST=and a CHILD

Of God=in this world too

 

“THE FOOL=says in his heart=’There is no God=They are corrupt=their deeds are vile=

There is no one=who does good’”                                                                                                                    Psalm 14:1

“But everyone=who hears these words of mine=and does not put them=into practice=

Is like a FOOLISH MAN=Who built his house on sand”                                                                    Matthew 7:26

“We are=FOOLS FOR CHRIST=But you are so wise=In Christ=We are weak=But you

Saint Philip Neri=Was APPROACHABLE=and lovable=to all the people of=The 16^th

Century=He was FULL of jokes and pranks=but MOST OF ALL=He glorified the CROSS=and

Was=A FOOL FOR CHRIST=I hope that I am too=and he gave others CONSTANT INVITATIONS=

To MEET Jesus and him=IN the confessional=and above all he prayed=”I cannot LOVE YOU

Unless you=Help me my Jesus”=He was a CHILD OF GOD=and a FOOL FOR CHRIST=I hope

I can HUMBLY BE=these two things too=ALONG with Saint Philip Neri

 

“Five of them =WERE FOOLISH=and five were wise=The foolish ones=Took their lamps=

But did not take any oil with them”                                                                                                           Mathew 25:2

“But God chose=THE FOOLISH things=of the world=To shame the wise=God chose the

Weak things=of the world=to shame the strong”                                                                      1 Corinthians 1:27

“For the wisdom=Of the world=IS FOOLISHNESS=in God’s sight=As it is written=

Of God=and that we should at least=BE TRYING=to be=A HAPPY FOOL FOR CHRIST

When I am down

When I am troubled

When I no longer want to try

God hears me cry

 

When I am feeling so low

I just want to die

God hears me cry

 

When I no longer know what to do

When I see no hope

For me or for you

God hears me cry

 

When I am feeling so miserable

That I even don’t know

If I can face another day

God hears me cry

 

When the bills are rolling in

And I don’t have anything to send out

God hears me cry

 

But most of all

Even when I am facing ALL these things

God hears me cry

Can I know=SOMETHING about you=I can=For it is ABOUT ME TOO=YOU are

SEARCHING FOR PEACE=A Peace=that this world CANNOT GIVE=I have been

Searching for it too=and I have FOUND IT=In my Lord Jesus Christ=and his

Holy Father God=”PEACE I leave with you=MY PEACE=I give to you=NOT as

The world gives=So I give it to you”                                                                                               John 14:27

 

PEACE in this world=Can be awfully difficult to come by=and so is Peace in our

PERSONAL SITUATIONS=Peace when DEATH has robbed someone from our life=

FAMILY OR FRIEND=Our own health situations=Peace in our financial matters=and

ESPECIALLY PEACE=In our Family and Friendship relationships

 

Then there is=ALWAYS war in the world=Between countries=Violence in our domestic

World=and there is NO PEACE=In our politics=or between religions=I KNOW something

About you=WE are still SEARCHING for SOMETHING DEEPER=AND MORE LASTING=Peace

From this world=Which can only BE FOUND=In our Lord Jesus Christ=and HIS HOLY

Father=GOD’S PEACE=Has nothing to do=With this world’s peace=Thank God

For that=or we could=NEVER FIND IT!

 

“A heart AT PEACE=Gives life to the body=But envy rots the bones”                                      Proverbs 14:30

“You will keep=IN PERFECT PEACE=Those whose minds are steadfast=Because

They trust in you”                                                                                                                                            Isaiah 26:3

“Glory to God=In the highest heaven=And on earth PEACE=to those on whom

His favor rests”                                                                                                                                           Luke 2:14

 

Yes God’s PEACE=Is SOMETHING DEEPER=and FAR MORE LASTING=and it has NOTHING

To do=with PEACE in this world=Or peace in our personal lives=It has to do with

The PEACE=from the Holy Spirit of God=and HIS SON=It LIVES in us=If we are BELIEVERS=

It is the peace=That BOTH stirs and QUIETS OUR SOULS=It is a DEEPER PEACE=

Than this world=Can ever give or offer=and it is=FAR MORE LASTING!

 

“I have told you=these things=So that in me=YOU MAY HAVE PEACE=In this world

You will have trouble=But Take HEART!=I have overcome the world”                               John 16:33

“Therefore=since we have=Been justified through faith=WE HAVE PEACE=With God=

Through our Lord Jesus Christ”                                                                                                          Romans 5:1

“But if the unbeliever leaves=Let it be so=The Brother or Sister=is not bound=In

Such circumstances=God has called us=TO LIVE IN PEACE”                              1 Corinthians 7:15

 

WE FIND these deeper moments=These MORE lasting moments=Each day==with

Jesus=and His Holy Father=When we do=Our daily prayers=When we attend MASS or

CHURCH SERVICE=Or when we LIVE out our Faith=By loving the Holy Father God=and

His Son=above all else=Or when we=LOVE ONE ANOTHER as ourselves

 

There is nothing WRONG with the world’s peace=or individual peace=IF we can find

IT=But we will never find it=WITHOUT the Holy Father God and His SON=in our

Faithful hearts=Which is SOMETHING DEEPER AND MORE LASTING=God’s peace

In Jesus’ name=and IN the name=of our EVER PEACEFUL=Holy Father God

THE HUMAN ELEMENT

 

 

God’s plan is sure

God’s plan is true

God’ word

Is always on the mark

Is it in you

 

Even in the best of we humans

Who try to be true

Who always

Try to do our very best

Sometimes we fail

It has happened to me

Has it ever happened

To you

 

The human element

Leaves us weak

The human element

Leaves us vulnerable

The human element

Leaves us

With us an Achilles heel

 

Jesus Christ

Had that human element

But he triumphed

Over it all

Jesus Christ knew

He had to show

The human element

In order to fail

 

But he was

Willing to do it

In order

To triumph over it all

 

We try and try and try

To triumph

Over our human element

 

I only

Know one thing about it

And that is

Without God in our heart

We are

Doomed to fail

 

Without God

The human element

Leaves us

Doomed to fail

It’s gotten a bit frayed nowa

Its cotton culler’s faded see,

Aroun’ the edges, ah, well

Guess it’s a lot like me.

 

It’s been in the dooryard nigh’ on

Four generations, Lord knows,

Attached to the Ole Pole awavin’

Any way the wind blows.

 

The Ole’ Flag can still bring on

A glow of emotion, a sigh

When it snaps to an’ stretches out

Like cloth pinned to the sky.

 

Its culler’s once were carried with pride

Aroun’ the world just ‘bout everywhere

In theatres of war where heroes died

So that others would breathe free air.

 

I’ve seen it in the sunrise

Sil’vry dew hung on the bars,

An’ against the golden sunset

That bursts into blindin’ stars.

 

The Ole’ Flag, how proud it flies

Yet half-mast would befit it best,

When this last ol’e soldier dies

An’ goes to his LONG rest

WE HAVE=REASON FOR JOY!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WE HAVE =REASON FOR JOY!

 

How DO YOU define JOY?=I BELIEVE=most of us=Would equate JOY=

With well-being=SUCCESS in material  blessings=and with GOOD FORTUNE=

But I suggest to you=We  can LIVE LONG=and with JOY=No matter what is

GOING ON=In our life=and whether we are PROSPERING or not=IF we are

GROUNDED=In the Lord Jesus Christ=and his Father=The Holy Father God=

“SING JOYFULLY=to the Lord=all you lands=Serve the Lord=with gladness=Come

Before him=with JOYFUL SONG”                                                                                                        Psalm 100:1-2

 

JOY=if we are GROUNDED=in the Holy Father God=and his SON=is basically

AN ATTITUDE=of the HEART=and it CONTINUES=In this life=In good times=and

In bad=Regardless if we=are experiencing any SUCCESS=in this world=THIS JOY

Carries us=Through the difficult and challenging TIMES=Because of Christ and=

HIS HOLY FATHER God=THERE IS=ALWAYS A REASON=FOR JOY!

We have=REASON FOR JOY

 

“Nehemiah said’=’Go and enjoy=Choice food and sweet drinks=and send some=

To those who have nothing prepared=This day is holy=To our Lord=Do not grieve=

FOR THE JOY of the Lord=is your strength’”                                                                                       Nehemiah 8:10

“……..As the time=When the Jews got relief=From their enemies=and as the month=

When their sorrow=Was turned INTO JOY=and their mourning=into a day of

Celebration”                                                                                                                                               Esther 9:22

“……..And those the Lord=Has rescued will return=They will enter Zion with singing=

EVERLASTING JOY=sill crown their heads=Gladness and JOY=will overtake them=and

Sorrow and sighing=will flee away”                                                                                                      Isaiah 35:10

 

You see=MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS=We CAN=maintain an ATTITUDE OF JOY=

In our hearts=No matter what=IS GOING ON in our life=It is NOT about success or

Failure=in this world=It is about A RELATIONSHIP=With the Holy Father God and

HIS SON=who have an UNCONDITIONAL LOVE for us=No matter what is going

On with us=WE HAVE REASON FOR JOY!

 

We WORSHIP=A God=who loves us steadfastly=who NEVER ABANDONS US!=He never

Abandoned HIS SON=and he will NEVER abandon us=WE HAVE=REASON FOR JOY!

“But the angel said to them’=’I bring you good news=That will cause GREAT JOY=For all

The people=Today in the town of David=A SAVIOR=has been born to you=He is

The Messiah=The LORD’”                                                                                                                    Luke 2:10-11

“Very truly I tell you=You will weep and mourn=While the world rejoices=You will grieve=

But your grief=WILL TURN TO JOY”                                                                                                         John 6:20

“Though you have not seen him=You love him=and even though you=Do not see him now=

You believe in him=and are filled=with an inexpressible=and GLORIOUS JOY=for you

Are receiving the end result=Of your faith=The SALVATION of your souls”                          1 Peter 1:8-9

 

And so=MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS=No Matter=what is going on in your life=

KEEP the faith=Keep the HOPE=Keep the love=for our GOD OF LOVE=Invites us to

JOIN HIM WITH JOY=and sing always=with an ever grateful heart=

WE HAVE=REASON FOR JOY!

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of or EVER LOVING=ever living=EVER JOYFUL
