Chapter 9=

MARKED FOR PRESERVATION=MARKED FOR JUDGMENT

 

Line 1=

Ezekiel HEARD God speaking=in a LOUD VOICE

 

Six men came FORWARD=with battle axes=NORTH

 

They had CHARGE=over the city

(Were heavenly angels)

 

SIX angelic BEINGS=with battle axes

Ie=Thay had responsibility for JUDGMENT

 

Then their was=ONE MAN=with an INKHORN

 

They were=ALL READY FOR SERVICE

 

LINES 3-4

 

COMMANDED=to mark FOREHEADS=of the godly men

 

For the GLORY=of the God of Israel=RISE UP

HIGHER than the cherubs

 

The man with the INKWELL=Was to put a MARK=on the FOREHEADS

Of the righteous men

 

To PROTECT THEM=during the invasion=and to

PROTECT THEM SPIRITUALLY=for the AGE to come

(Like the BLOOD =on the doorsteps=during the PASSOVER)

 

SPARE these men=over the city=They had BROKEN HEARTS

Over the idolatry

Wickedness of the city

Ie=Good men=LIKE Jeremiah

 

Lines 5-7

The command to=KILL IN JUDGMENT

 

God COMMANDED the other 6=to kill everyone else=and

SPARE no one=Except those who=WERE MARKED

 

JUDGMENT=was to begin=IN GOD’S HOSE

 

Beginning=with the ELDERS

(ie.  New Covenant 1 Peter 4:17

 

And FILL the PAGAN ALTARS=with those slain=

Because of Israel’s IDOLATRY

 

Line 8

Ezekiel’s GRIEF

 

Ezekiel=FELL APART=when it actually HAPPENED=in the VISION

Ezekiel=BEGGED GOD=Not to destroy the remnant

 

Lines 9-10=

GOD’S EXPLANATION

 

God REMINDED Ezekiel=what they were PRACTICING=and that

It was COMPLETELY DESERVED

 

Because of THEIR REJECTION=Of God

Yahweh’s eyes=Would NOT SPARE them=or would he have pity

 

Line 11

THE REPORT=of the man =with the INKHORN

 

ANGELS=Must account to God

 

They are diligent=and ACCOUNTABLE to God

 

The angel reported=that he had

MARKED THE FAITHFUL REMNANT
