As I get ready=For the last week=of PREPARATION for=the

MOVE to Pittsburgh=I want to be FOREVER MINDFUL=of the

HOLY FATHER GOD=and Jesus Christ=who make EVERYTHING

POSSIBLE=THE GOOD WILL OF GOD

 

And I am THANKFUL=for people=Like my sister MVD Terri=my sister Mary=

Friends like my MVF Cheryl=Marie=Uncle Rege=and others who have

DONE so much for me=over the years=and all who are HELPING ME

In my move to Pittsburgh=Like the GLASSBRENNERS and Diane=So

 

MANY of you=have COME THROUGH for me=now and IN THE PAST=Fran P., Cliff, Marcy

Family members=the WILLIAMS=the BUTLERS=Please know whoever you are=I RECOGNIZE

You and all of the HELP and prayers= you have given me=I so recognize

THE GOOD=THE GOODWILL OF GOD!=and THE GOODWILL of all of you=

Whether I named you=or not=I wish I could name EVERY FAMILY MEMBER and

Friend that=I have had in my life

THE GOOD WIL OF GOD!

THE GOOD WILL OF PEOPLE!

SO MUCH GOOD=so much good will=from God our Holy Father and

From Jesus=How I have gotten along=with no health since age22=with

 

NO MATERIAL BLESSINGS=other than a few dollars=and the GOOD WILL

Of others=With no significant other to speak of=ONLY THE GOOD WILL

OF our God=ONLY the GOOD WILL of others=and prayers from others

 

HELPING me not only to survive=BUT TO THRIVE=on the GOOD WILL

Of our God and others=with your prayers and BLESSINGS=I know this will

Continue=because of=ALL OF YOUR GOOD WILL

APPRECIATING God and Jesus=FAMILY and friends and MY CHURCH=who

Has helped me so much along the way-SO MANY of you=have COME through

For me these last weeks=THE GOOD WILL OF OUR GOD AND OTHERS!

 

“Why do you ask me=ABOUT WHAT IS GOOD?’=Jesus replied=’There is only

ONE=who is GOOD==If you want to enter life=keep the commandments’”                       Matthew 19:17

 

“Let us=not become weary=IN DOING GOOD=for at the proper time=We

Will reap a harvest=If we do not give up”                                                                                             Galatians 6:9

 

And so=as I get ready=to BEGIN a new chapter=in my life=BACK

In the old Pittsburgh=where it all began=I thank my Holy Father God=

And Jesus Christ=For the GOOD WILL=That has been sent to me=and

For all the FAMILY and friends=who have HELPED ME=along the way

 

I KNOW=Most of the good deeds=that have been done for me=and

SENT MY WAY=But I don’t know=who has sent me PRAYERS=without

Telling me=I recognize all of you too

 

THE GOOD WILL of God=The GOOD WILL of all good people=who

Have helped me=and PRAYED FOR ME=Both family and friends

SAINT FRANCIS-OUR IMITATOR OF CHRIST

 

 

He is

A man of the 13^th century

A man widely regarded

To be

The closest imitation of Christ

That ever walked this earth

 

He is

A person

Probably known

To everyone

Even in art, literature, and music

 

He is known

As the poor humble Saint

The man who

Gave up everything

For his Christianity

 

If Christianity is Christ

And it is

He is the truest of all Christians

He founded the Franciscan order

And had

A great love for Our Lady

 

But I think

What touches me the most

About Saint Francis

Is that

He found what we are all looking for

Peace

 

Jesus said

“My peace I leave with you

My peace I give to you”

And Saint Francis found

God’s peace

Jesus’ peace

 

So Saint Francis

Our closest imitator of Christ

Help us

To find that same peace

 

Be our inspiration

And help us to live

A life like you

 

A life dedicated

To our great and glorious God

And to live

With

A right faith

A firm hope

And according to God’s most perfect will

Ps        Today-October 4^th-is Saint Francis’ feast day

 

It also would have been my Uncle Don’s birthday.

Once-when he was visiting me-I dropped my Saint

Francis statue-his hand broke off-and Uncle Don glued it

Back together for me-May you rest in peace Uncle Don.

 

Saint Francis is also widely known as THE POOR MAN’S

SAINT.  He gave up everything to follow GOD and CHRIST.

 

“BLESSED are the POOR in SPIRIT

For theirs is the kingdom of heaven”                         Matthew 5:3

 

 

GRACE IN HUMILITY=Saint Francis of Assisi

 

 

 

 

 

 

GRACE IN HUMILITY=Saint Francis of Assisi

 

Today is the MEMORIAL=to Saint Francis of Assisi=a man

Of such HUMILITY=many think=He is the CLOSEST TO Christ

Who ever lived=He walked the earth as a man=with the GRACE

Of God=and became a HUMBLE SAINT=”Behold =I am of LITTLE

ACCOUNT=What can I answer you?=I put my hand over my mouth”                                  Job 40:4

 

When we think of Saint Francis=we think of wild life=We think

Of animals=We think of the canticles of CREATION=He PREACHED

To the birds=He befriended wolves=But he was a man of GRACE

Like Christ=and steeled in TOTAL HUMILITY

 

He was the SON of a rich man=But he dressed in rags=and BEFRIENDED

The poor and the lepers=We would do well to EMULATE the love=

Saint Francis lived with=to live with that same GRACE IN HUMILITY

 

“You are=the most excellent of men=and your lips have been anointed=

WITH GRACE=since God has blessed you forever”                                                                 Psalm 45:2

 

“For the law=was given through Moses=GRACE and truth came

Through Jesus Christ”                                                                                                                       John 1:17

 

“Now I commit you to God=and to the word=of his GRACE=which

Can build you up=and give you an inheritance=among those who are

Sanctified”                                                                                                                                                    Acts 20:32

 

Francis was a HUMBLE MAN=a man who=LOVED TO SERVE=and to

HELP OTHERS=to HEAL this broken world=we all live in=He is noted for

His plainness and his SIMPLICITY=yet people could see the SAINTLINESS

In him=He was a man of grace in HUMILITY=A HUMBLE SAINT

 

“Wisdom’s instruction=is to fear the Lord=AND HUMILITY comes before

Honor”                                                                                                                                                             Proverbs 15:33

 

“BY THE HUMILITY=and gentleness of Christ=I appeal to you--------I Paul=

Who am “timid”=when face to face with you=But “BOLD” toward you

“Do nothing=out of selfish ambition=or vain conceit=rather IN HUMILITY

BEING LITTLE=can make you BIG=in the EYES of God=It can even make you a SAINT=

Today=Let us HONOR Saint Francis of Assisi=who showed GRACE

IN HIS HUMILITY=THE HUMILITY OF JESUS CHRIST

Have you ever heard the saying

IMITATION is the most sincere form of flattery

 

I have

And if you believe in Jesus Christ

And/or his message

There is one man who stands out

And is considered to be

The closest thing to Christ

That ever walked this earth

 

SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI

 

He grew up in Assisi, Italy

Assisting his father

A wealthy clothing merchant

In the family business

 

He became a soldier

But was taken prisoner

And became ill

 

Eventually he turned his back

On the war

And heard a voice from God calling,

 

“Go and repair my house

Which you see is falling apart”

 

This led

To a prolonged conflict with his father

Culminating with Francis renouncing his inheritance

And even his clothes

 

Francis’ love for the poor

And for the lepers was long renowned

And the first time

He kissed a leper---Francis felt

That he had kissed the face of Christ

 

It is said that Francis

Read the Gospel with such passion

That grown men wept

 

He drew many followers

Both men and women

Most notably---Saint Clare

 

However it must always be remembered

That Francis’ true motivating factor

Was his love for Christ

And to live a life of suffering

Just like Christ

 

He accomplished this too

When on September 17^th, 1224

The stigmata---the 7 wounds of Christ

Appeared on his body

 

If it is true

That we are to become other Christ’s

In this world

And we are

 

We need look no further

Than Saint Francis of Assisi

As our model

 

Francis once said,

“Speak the Gospel at all times

Use words if necessary”

 

Saint Francis

A lover of nature

A lover of the poor

A lover of animals

 

But known mostly for

His ALL pervasive love for God

And his identification with Christ’s suffering

Discernment of spirit, prophecy, healing

And as a powerful intercessor for us

Before our God

One of the remarkable men

Of the 20^th century

A man with great faith

And spirituality

 

“Truly I say to you

Ask and it will be given to you

Seek and you shall find

Knock and

It will be open to you”

 

In the name of Father Padre Pio

We pray for you

To change

Each of us individually

All of us collectively

And return our world to God

EYES=but it is the LORD=WHO PROVES HEARTS”                                                            Proverbs 21:2

 

WHEN we are=Living in the LIGHT of the Lord=We don’t have

To explain ourselves=we are RIGHT WITH God=Let the Lord in=

Let GOD’S LIGHT in!

 

“You Lord=are my lamp=the Lord turns=my darkness=INTO LIGHT!                         2 Samuel 22:29

 

“For you=have delivered me=from death=and my feet= from stumbling=

WALK IN=the LIGHT of God=Every day of your life=Listen for God’s presence

MY VOCATION IS LOVE

(  A Dedication to the Little Flower  )        =       Born January 2^nd---1873

 

She was born

In a little town in France

 

Her Mother died

When she was 4

And the family moved to Liseux

Where her Aunt helped her Father

To look after her and her sisters

 

One of 4 girls

Who all became nuns

Theresa, herself,

Became a nun

At the age of 15

 

Theresa never did anything extraordinary

But did everything extraordinarily well

 

She never

Held a position with great responsibility

But was gifted

With a great intimacy with God

 

She lived a life

Hidden in God’s love

But was directed

To write an autobiography

Which she called

 

THE STORY OF A SOUL

 

In this book

She described her life

“As a little way of spiritual childhood”

And wrote that what matters most in life

“Is not great deeds, but great love”

 

It is said That Theresa was a very sweet person

That lived her life

With a great simplicity

 

However it is very apparent

That she lived out her life

In conjunction with the 4 Gospels

 

A simple life

In obedience

To the Word of God---to the Will of God

 

She once said,

“My mission---to make God loved---

Will begin after my death”

 

                And

 

“I will spend my heaven

Doing good on earth

I will let fall

A shower of roses”

 

My Mom, myself

And millions of others

Have received roses from unexpected sources

After prayers to her

 

In this cold, cruel, indifferent world

We could ALL

Learn some things from Saint Theresa

 

To live out our lives

With selflessness

Instead of selfishness

 

To try to do small ordinary things

Extraordinarily well

 

And live out our lives

With such passion for God

And for others

 

So that we can truly say

Like Saint Theresa
