EZEKIEL  25=

JUDGMENT Upon Ammon=Against the Ammonites

 

Judgment against=THE SURROUNDING NATIONS=NEW Section of book

 

-God came to JUDGE HIS PEOPLE  (Judah and Jerusalem)

But he would NOT FORGET=The surrounding PAGAN NATIONS

(Nor neglect them)

 

AGAINST THE Ammonites

(Land was EAST of=the Jordan River)

North of the Moabites

 

The land included Jordan=and its Capital Ammon

 

-The Ammonites FELT NO PITY=for the FALL of Jerusalem=

And its Temple

Ie.      POLITICAL and National rivalry

 

But they=should have MOURNED=the DESTRUCTION of the SANCTUARY

Of   the ONE TRUE GOD

 

-The AMMONITES sins=went back=a long time

-They  REJOICED=When Israel=was CONQUERED=More than 100 years ago

 

-And they did the SAME=when Judah=WENT INTO CAPTIVITY

 

=SOON Ammon=would be conquered too=Because they were HAPPY=

When Israel and Judah were CONQUERED

 

-The MEN of the EAST=would conquer them=and drink and eat

Their fruit and milk    (ie.   Rabbah and Ammon)

 

LINES 6-7

GUILT=The guilt of the AMMONITES

 

-Ammon showed  GREAT DISDAIN=For Israel=and the GOD OF ISRAEL

(Ezekiel 25:3)

 

The Ammonites would=PASS INTO HISTORY

(Jeremiah 49:3=Promised some Restoration)

 

LINES 8-11

JUDGMENT upon Moab=Edom=and the PHILISTINES

 

-Moab and Seir=Numbered among the Ammonites

Moab and Seir=Were COUSINS  to Israel=by ancestry

 

Moab from=Lot and his daughter

Seir=Descendants of Jacob’s twin brother Esau

 

MOCKING (Cup of Moab and Seir)

OF Judah=Like all the other nations

 

THEIR JOY=In the decline of God’s PEOPLE

Made them GUILTY TOO

 

-MOAB’S and Seir’s FATE=would be like the AMMONITES

(CONQUERED AND OCCUPIED=by Men of the EAST)

 

LINES 12-14

MORE of  Edom’s guilt and JUDGMENT

 

-WHEN Nebuchadnezzar=Attacked  Judah

The EDOMITES approved and JOINED IN

 

God would JUDGE EDOM TOO

(Cities of Teman and Deran)=Both man and beast

 

=GOD would USE the people too=the people of ISRAEL=In

The process of its  JUDGMENT

 

LINES 15-17

JUDGMENT against the PHILISTINES

 

Philistines=ANCIENT ENEMIES of Israel

(Proverbial cities of Canaan)

 

OLD HATRED EXISTED BETWEEN THEM=They put MISERY on Judah=

When Babylonia INVADED

 

-God PROMISED to judge the Philistines

(Sea coast CITIES)

 

And they shall know=I AM LORD!

 

God would REVEAL HIMSELF=to the pagan nations=who were DISOBEDIENT

Ie.   Ammonites=Moabites=and Edomites

 

GOD’S PURPOSE=is always GREATER=than his Judgment and his VENGEANCE

 

GOD’S strong purpose=was of SELF-REVELATION
