EZEKIEL 30=A FIRE IN EGYPT

 

The DAY=of the LORD=Against Egypt

 

Lines 1-4

WOE is the day=Of the Lord=FOR EGYPT

 

God told Ezekiel=to prophesy WOE=to Egypt

Ie.        STORMS-CLOUDS

 

There would COME a day of=INTERVENTION and vindication

From God=For Egypt=But NOT NOW

 

THE SWORD=was coming=Against Egypt too

 

There would be MANY DEAD and plundered=in Egypt

(Slain=and losing of wealth)

 

LINES 5-9

JUDGMENT upon the region and PEOPLE of Egypt

Ie.   Ethiopia=Libya=and Lidia too

 

JUDGMENT ON Egypt=and its whole SPHERE of INFLUENCE

-They would ALL FALL=BY THE SWORD

-Egypt and HER PEOPLE=had great PRIDE

God PROMISES=to drive them all down

 

=God promised A FIRE=to Egypt=and her allies

They would become desolate countries

 

-GREAT ANGUISH=would come down UPON all of them

 

LINES 10-12

-Nebuchadnezzar would be=THE DESTRUCTION OF EGYPT

(Through death=and captivity)=God would take down

THE PEOPLE of Egypt

 

EVEN the rivers of Egypt=would fail them

Ie.   The Nile and its tributaries

 

God would LAY WASTE=To these countries=THROUGH ALIEN ARMIES

 

LINES 13-19

JUDGMENT=on the regions=and the cities of EGYPT

 

-God would DESTROY their idols too

-God would destroy=THE IDOLS of Egypt=By bringing JUDGMENT=to the land

AND REVEALING HIMSELF

 

MANY CITIES=would be destroyed

Ie.   Pathros=desolate=FIRE TO Zorn=and also Noph

 

ARROGANT pride and strength=WOULD FAIL EGYPT

-NO CLOUD of God’s Glory=but a

CLOUD of God’s JUDGMENT

 

-The daughters=THE CITIES=would go INTO CAPTIVITY=and

They will KNOW=I AM THE LORD!

 

God would REVEAL HIMSELF=Through his JUDGMENT

-EVERY EYE would see=That GOD=is THE REAL LORD!

 

LINES 20-21

Pharaoh=Would have a BROKEN ARMY

-YAHWEH=would bring down the ARMIES of Pharaoh

IN the 11thyear=1^st month

Ezekiel’s prophesy=was a SPECIF DATE

 

=This prophecy was  given=4 months

BEFORE=the fall of Jerusalem

 

-As a SIGN of strength=God methodically=DESTROYED

The armies of Pharaoh

 

NOT STRONG ENOUGH for defense

NOT=strong enough to hold a sword

 

=Pharaoh and Egypt=were DEFENSELESS

 

LINES 22-23

Yahweh=BREAKS the arms of Egypt

 

-Egypt  was HELPLESS=against=the coming JUDGMENT

 

LINES 24-26

EGYPT and Babylon

 

GOD STRENGTHENED Babylon=as he WEAKENED Egypt

 

The SWORD of God=JUDGMENT WAS COMING!

 

-Pharaoh was HELPLESS=Could only groan

-God would SCATTER=The EGYPTIAN armies=among the nations

 

GOD WOULD REVEAL HIMSELF=and they would=KNOW HE WAS GOD
