EGYPT WOULD FALL=as did Assyria BEFORE

THE glory=of the MIGHTY TREE

The INTRODUCTION to=The prophecy REGARDING EGYPT

 

11^th year=3^rd month=First day

5^th PROPHECY=of Ezekiel against Egypt

 

ONLY 1 month before=The CATASTROPHIC fall of Jerusalem

 

To Pharaoh=KING OF Egypt

ASSYRIA would fall=AS a warning to EGYPT

 

LINES 2A-6

 

-THE STRENGTH and the greatness=and the FALL of Assyria

 

-HISTORY and stature=Of Egypt=GAVE EVIDENCE

OF GREATNESS    Ie.   Egypt was GREAT=In Ezekiel’s day

 

Egypt was a CEDAR=IN LEBANON

-God USED the KINGDOM of Assyria=as to HOW

An established POWER=Could be BROUGHT DOWN

 

Assyria=had been a GREAT EMPIRE=in recent years

 

-ABUNDANCE OF WATER=Which made it grow

LIKE BRANCHES

 

Ie.    Assyria had the Tigress and Euphrates=while

       Egypt had the NILE

 

ASSYRIA was a SHELTER=for many nations=SO WAS EGYPT

WATER GAVE GREAT POWER

 

LINES 7-9

THE INCOMPARABLE GREATNESS=of the MIGHTY ASSYRIA

 

-Assyria was KNOWN=for its POWER and greatness=Plus

Its beauty and its influence

Egypt was going DOWN=just like Assyria did previously

 

OTHER NATIONS were like trees=

Cedars=fir=and chestnuts=But NOWHERE NEAR

As beautiful as Assyria

 

LINES 10-12

THE RUIN=of the MIGHTY TREE

 

-DIRECTED BY GOD=THE FOREIGNERS=Cut down the mighty tree of Assyria

Assyria became=PROUD AND ARROGANT

 

God would JUDGE and HUMBLE THEM=Through Nebuchadnezzar=and

BRING THEM TO JUGDMENT

 

-God would USE=a foreign army=to bring down Assyria

=And He would do the SAME to Egypt=THROUGH  the

Babylonian army

 

-NEITHER COUNTRY=would no longer=BE A REFUGE for

The peoples of the earth

 

LINES 13-14

THE RUIN OF=The unmatted glory=of the FALLEN TREE

 

FALLEN ASSYRIA=was still noted=for its glorious past

 

-MANY  would still  come=but they would NO LONGER

Find shelter=In its branches

 

God would USE ASSYRIA=to be a LESSON=for

The NATIONS of the world

 

-They would see=WHAT HAPPENS=when a nation

BECOMES PROUD AND ARROGANT

 

-God would teach the NATIONS=They were all mortal=and

WOULD SEE DEATH      Ie.    A RECKONING before God=and the WHOLE WORLD

DEATH would be=THE GREAT EQUALIZER

 

LINES 15-17

MOURNING and fear=Because of the FALL

Of the MIGHTY TREE OF ASSYRIA

 

-The OTHER NATIONS=Grieved for Assyria=Because they KNEW

They would be TARGETS=of God too=and his JUDGMENT

 

GOD CUT=the water to Assyria and=To Egypt

LEBANON=was FAMOUS=for its mighty CEDAR TREES

 

-The other nations MOURNED=as all the trees WILTED=

From the  lack of the water supply

 

LINE 18=

A CURSE AGAINST Pharaoh=and the  KINGDOM OF EGYPT

 

=LIKE the trees of Eden=The MIGHTY Assyria and Egypt

Would be BROUGHT DOWN TOO

 

-THE MAIN INSTRUMENT=Against Egypt=Would BE WAR

BROUGHT to it=by other PEOPLE

 

IN SPEAKING  to Assyria=GOD SPEAKS TO EGYPT TOO!
