THE RESURRECTION AND MARY MAGDALENE

Picture this

Your best friend
And teacher has died
The only person
That has ever
Really and truly
Believed in you

You go to the tomb
To collect the body
There is
No body there

“Don’t be alarmed,” the man says,
“I know you are looking
For Jesus of Nazareth
Who was crucified
He is not here
He has been raised
Now go
And give this message
To his disciples”                                            Mark 16:6-7

You have
A plethora of feelings/emotions
Confusion, happiness, bewilderment
You really
Are not sure
What you are feeling/or believe

But you decide
To do
What the man says

You run
To the rest of your friends

You say,
“They have taken
The Lord out of the tomb
And we don’t know
Where they put him”

You and his other best friend
Simon Peter
Run back to the tomb
There still
Is no body there

Slowly---it is dawning on you
What your friend Jesus
Has been telling you
All along

As you
Are standing outside the tomb crying
Two angels appear,
“Woman why are you crying”

At this
Your dear friend Jesus
Appears to you

You don’t
Recognize him at first
Then you cry out,
“Teacher”

You run
As fast as you can
To tell
The rest of the disciples
That your friend Jesus,
Is indeed alive

Dear Lord
Your Resurrection
Has changed everything
For us

Dear Lord
We pray to you
That your life and spirit
Fill our bodies, souls, minds, and hearts

With NEW life, NEW spirit
And your UNENDING FAITH
