WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TOO!

Today we read about

Jesus and his HEALING

Of a paralyzed man=

It is a WELL KNOWN STORY-

Jesus tells him to

PICK UP his stretcher

And go home

It makes you WONDER=

Why Jesus told the man

To take his stretcher HOME

“He then said to the PARALYTIC=

'Rise-pick up your stretcher-

And go home'” Matthew 9:6

ONE thing for certain

Is that-

Jesus TOUCHED his life=

And another thing for CERTAIN

Is that=

He TOUCHES each of

OUR LIVES TOO!

He HEALS us physically-

Emotionally=and SPIRITUALLY=

He touches us

In ALL the ways=of our life

But with that=just like

The man with the stretcher=

COMES A RESPONSIBILITY

Beyond just living

Our life

WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TOO!

We have some duties

That go along

With the MIRACLES=of our life

“Now all has been heard=

Here is the conclusion

Of the matter

Fear God and keep

His commandments

For this is

The DUTY of all mankind” Ecclesiastes 12:13

“Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin

And said=

'My brothers-I have fulfilled

MY DUTY

To God=in all good conscience

To this day'” Acts 23:1

“The husband should fulfill

His marital DUTY

To his wife

And likewise=the wife

To her husband” 1 Corinthians 7:3

When we are RENEWED

By Jesus=we have

A RESPONSIBILITY too

We must be willing

To share our RENEWED SELVES

With all others

We must be

Willing to make a difference

In this world=we have a

Responsibility to SHARE

The good news

“John answered=

'Anyone who has two shirts

Should SHARE with the one

Who has none

And anyone who has food

Should do the same” Luke 3:11

We must live

With FULL awareness

And gratitude

For what God HAS DONE

In our lives=can you REMEMBER

How Jesus has TOUCHED you=

You have a RESPONSIBILITY

To SHARE it too

In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our ALWAYS GIVING FATHER!

THE UNIVERSAL VIEW

Jesus had a UNIVERSAL VIEW

Or GLOBAL view of life

He loved everyone=EVEN-

His enemies=but he particularly LOVED

Those who were his own-

LIKE we all do

He GAVE his life for ALL=and

For LOVE OF ALL

“I pray not only

For these-

BUT also for those

Who BELIEVE in me

THROUGH their word........” John 17:20

It's ALWAYS interesting-

To SEE Jesus pray=and

HOW he prays

This time=though=

We HEAR the actual words

And he is PRAYING for us

His PASSION for us-is

Just hours away-

But NOTHING detracts

From the UNIVERSAL VIEW

Of his FATHER'S love and life

For us

He is WILLING

To GIVE his life for all=

DESPITE the fact=

That he does not want to

The UNIVERSAL view of life

The UNIVERSAL VIEW of love

Jesus took Peter and James and John-

And he began to feel SORROWFUL

And troubled

He said

d o them:

“My soul is overwhelmed-

With SORROW to the point of death=

Stay here-

And KEEP watch with me” Matthew 26:38

They could not=they all fell

ASLEEP on him

“GOING a little farther-

He fell with his face

To the ground and PRAYED:

'My Father=

IF it is possible

May this cup

Be TAKEN from me

Yet NOT as I will

But AS YOU WILL” Matthew 26:39

Jesus had=the UNIVERSAL VIEW

Of his Father

Jesus had The universal view

OF LIFE

The SAME view

WE should have as his disciples

The SAME VIEW we should have=

As to LOVE ALL

Jesus gave HIS LIFE for all

Jesus gave HIS LOVE for all

“My command is this:

LOVE each other

As I have LOVED YOU

GREATER LOVE has no one

Than this

TO LAY DOWN one's life

For one's friends” John 15::12-13

This is the UNIVERSAL VIEW=

Jesus DIED for all

The LEAST we can do=

To pay him back

IS to LIVE OUR LIVES

KEEP THE GOAL IN SIGHT!

We all have GOALS and dreams

In this world=keep them

In mind

KEEP THEM in your conscious

Keep them in your sight

KEEP YOUR GOAL

IN SIGHT!

God has a WAY=of

WORKING for you=

Working in you=

Even when you can't see it

IF you just BELIEVE

“I have competed well=

I have finished the RACE-

I have KEPT THE FAITH” 2 Timothy 4:7

My dream=my GOAL

Is that every person

In this world

Will KNOW the love of God-

Will know the love of JESUS=

And that we

As a world

Will get back to

RECOGNIZING God the Father again=

And put him in

HIS RIGHTFUL PLACE=

Number one in our hearts

And number ONE

In the world

KEEP THE GOAL IN SIGHT!

Keep the faith

IF you believe-

Your goal will triumph

“So we make it

OUR GOAL

To please him

Whether we are at home

In the body

Or away from it” 2 Corinthians 5:9

“I press on

Toward the GOAL=

To win the prize

For which God has

Called me heavenward

In Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:14

Paul wasn't running

A physical race=and

Neither are we=

We are running

A SPIRITUAL RACE

But make no mistake

About it= it is a MARATHON

And it is

A RACE OF FAITH

To KEEP GOD ALIVE

In our hearts=

To keep God alive

In our world=

To keep God NUMBER ONE

Above everything else

KEEP THE GOAL IN SIGHT!

Keep the dream alive

Keep LOVE ALIVE!

“A thousand years

In your SIGHT

Are like a day

That has just gone by

Or like= a watch

In the night” Psalm 90:4

“For we live BY FAITH=

Not by SIGHT” 2 Corinthians 5:7

I humbly say

I have competed

That BEST that I could

To keep my faith alive=

TO KEEP MY GOAL IN SIGHT!

The SECRET of our success

Is FAITH in God-

A confident attitude

KEEPING OUR GOAL a priority=

And being WILLING TO SACRIFICE

It is the ONLY WAY to go

To keep our GOALS and dreams in SIGHT

Do you look to

PUT OFF doing good?

Sometimes we have a

STRONG SENSE

Of what or where

The Lord is MOVING IN US=

But we =put it off

GET ON into your relationship

With God=

Get into your RELATIONSHIP

With Jesus

DON'T put it off=

THE TIME to start

IS NOW!

“Another of his disciples

Said to him

'Lord-let me go first

And bury my Father'

But Jesus answered him

'FOLLOW ME=and let the dead

Bury the dead'” Matthew 8:21-22

There is NEVER a reason

To put off GOOD=

To put off

What we should be doing

But we NEED to follow God

And we need to follow him

RIGHT NOW!

“Moses summoned all Israel

And said=

Hear-Israel=

The decrees and laws=

I declare

In your hearing today

Learn them=and be sure

TO FOLLOW THEM” Deuteronomy 5:1

“Surely your goodness and love

WILL FOLLOW ME

All the days

Of my life

And I will dwell

In the house

Of the Lord forever” Psalm 23:6

“Then Jesus said

To his disciples=

'Whoever wants

To be my disciple

Must deny themselves

And take up their cross

AND FOLLOW ME” Matthew 16:24

IF you want to be a

FOLLOWER of God=

A follower of Jesus=

THE TIME TO START

IS RIGHT NOW!

Discipleship can be DEMANDING=

It can mean giving up

An object or activity

That brings us COMFORT

It can mean

TURNING AWAY from temptation

It can mean

GIVING AWAY a

Piece of ourselves

To help someone else

WHEN it comes to

FOLLOWING God and Jesus

The time to start

Is always RIGHT NOW!

You don't have to

Make the whole JOURNEY

Right now=just start out

In the right direction

With a few BABY STEPS

LEAD US lord=we will FOLLOW!

In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our FOREVER LEADING FATHER!

Because we all

FAIL from time to time

I want to BE perfect

I want to follow

CHRIST'S EXAMPLE

We NEED to practice

To all CREATION'” Mark 16:15

Of the GOSPEL

IMPOSSIBLY GOOD=MIRACLES STILL HAPPEN!

It seems we-

LIVE in a world

Where all bad happens

Any more

Recently we have the

FALLING down of a BUILDING

In Surfside, Florida=

But we still have

To be THANKFUL

For all the GOOD

That happens every day

In our life

The sun CAME UP today

And the sun

Will come up tomorrow

And we have LIFE=

We have roofs over our head

We have food=and we have drink

God is IMPOSSIBLY GOOD-

MIRACLES STILL HAPPEN

In our world=

Me and my life

Are a MIRACLE of God

So are you and yours

“Abraham prostrated himself

And laughed

As he said to himself=

'CAN a child

Be born to a man

Who is

A hundred years old?

Can Sarah

Give birth at ninety?'” Genesis 17:17

Can't you just see

Abraham LAUGHING to himself?

Can't you see

Abraham chuckling to himself?

Something was happening

To him=and his wife-

That was IMPOSSIBLY GOOD

A MIRACLE WAS HAPPENING

And miracles still happen

To us=every day

We wake up

It is a MIRACLE CHANCE

That God is giving us

Something IMPOSSIBLY GOOD

God is giving us

A MIRACLE is happening today

MIRACLES still happen=

Just take a look around

And SEE

All that is good

It is ALL from God!

“You are the God

Who performs MIRACLES

You display your power

Among the peoples” Psalm 77:14

“Then Jesus began

To denounce the towns

In which

Most of his MIRACLES

Had been performed-

Because they did not repent” Matthew 11:20

“Fellow Israelites-

Listen to this

Jesus of Nazareth

Was a man

Accredited by God=to you

BY MIRACLES=wonders

And signs=which God did

Among you=through him

As you yourselves know” Acts 2:22

We humans=

Don't know how to RESPOND

When something IMPOSSIBLY GOOD

Happens to us

We don't understand

That MIRACLES STILL HAPPEN

In today's world=from GOD

NOT all miracles are

From people-science-and medicine

LOOK for GOD'S MIRACLES=

In today's world

They are still there=

We just need

To OPEN up our eyes

GOD UNDERSTANDS OUR SUFFERING

GOD UNDERSTANDS OUR SUFFERING

ONE of life's

Greatest challenges

Is coming to terms

With human suffering

In particular

OUR VERY OWN SUFFERING

The suffering

Of of physical ailments

The suffering

Of financial woes

And the suffering

Of BROKEN relationships

Perhaps even

Within our own immediate family

SUFFERING means

To ENDURE physical or emotional loss

And pain

In the midst

Of our suffering

We wonder

IF God truly loves

And cares for us

But we know that

HE DOES

Because our Lord-OUR SAVIOR

Endured suffering

To the nth degree

“Father-into your hands-

I commend my spirit” Luke 23:46

For HE endured

The agony in the garden

The scourging at the pillar

The humiliation crowning with thorns

CARRYING THE CROSS to Calvary

And dying a humiliating death

“MY GOD-my God

WHY did you ABANDON me?” Matthew 27:26 and Mark 15:34

Jesus-OUR God and our Savior

UNDERSTANDS our suffering

All too well

Many people

TURN AWAY from God

And become filled with anger

Because of their unresolved suffering

But for me-MY personal sufferings

Has only brought me CLOSER TO GOD

Because like Peter-I feel,-

“WHERE would I run to Lord?

You possess the words

Of EVERLASTING LIFE” John 6:68

Jesus does-God does

UNDERSTAND our suffering

Even after today=GOOD FRIDAY=

I can honestly say

I DON'T understand our sufferings

Any better

But I do KNOW

God understands my sufferings

That Jesus understands

my suffering

For God did

In the person

Of his own SON-

Jesus Christ

WALK

The path first

And he asks us

To trust in

TO BELIEVE IN HIM

God understands our suffering

For he is CLOSE

To the brokenhearted

“My flesh and my heart

May FAIL

But God is the STRENGTH

Of my heart

And my portion FOREVER” Psalm 73:26

We find GOD'S PRESENCE

In the midst of our sufferings

We FIND OURSELVES

In the midst

Of our suffering

“Therefore

We do NOT lose heart

Though outwardly

We are wasting away

Yet INWARDLY

We are being RENEWED

Each day” 2 Corinthians 4:16

What is UNSEEN is eternal

GOD UNDERSTANDS our suffering

Dear Lord-

WE PRAY that

We will NOT fail you

In our final hour

But IF we do

We trust that

YOUR LOVING SACRIFICE

Will make up

For what is lacking in us

You Oh Lord-God

To Be a person of GOD=

HONEST and sincere

And be a person OF LOVE

We KNOW that in all things-

God always tells the TRUTH=

For we know

That God CANNOT tell a lie

“God did this

So that=by TWO unchangeable things

In which

It is IMOSSIBLE

Jesus was the most

HONEST=mist sincere person

Who ever lived

We too should be

People OF OUR WORD=

We too

Should be brothers and sisters

Of love=and be people

OF OUR WORDS=

Doing the right thing

“How can a young person

Stay on

The path of purity?

By living

According to your WORD” Psalm 119:9

“EVERY WORD

Of God is flawless=

He is a shield

To those

Who take refuge in him” Proverbs 30:5

“The WORD became flesh

And made his

Dwelling among us

We haven't seen his glory

The glory of the one=and ONLY SON

Who came from the Father-

Full of grace and truth” Luke 1:14

This world is

FULL OF LIES=

Full of people

Who don't keep their WORDS=

People who

Don't even know

What their words are

So KEEP your WORDS

To God=keep your words

To our brothers and sisters

In Christ=

Be a=PERSON OF YOUR WORD

At all times

“Fix these WORDS

Of mine

In your hearts=and minds

Tie them as symbols

On your hands

And bind them

On your foreheads” Deuteronomy 11:18

When I was 22=

On my deathbed=

I promised the Lord

“To LIVE FOR my family=

Friends=and all people everywhere”

If given life

I have had NOTHING

To do with it=but GOD HAS

He has KEPT me alive

All of these years=as I

TRY to be “A PERSON

OF MY WORD”

I hope that you are a

PERSON of your WORD too

Today we honor John

The Baptist=and surely

The Lord was WITH HIM

As I HOPE

He is with me

And all of you

The CIRCUMSTANCES of John's life

Was UNIQUE=just as=all of our lives

Are unique too

John had a MISSION

And he fulfilled it=

Just as I HOPE

All of us

Fulfill our missions=for God

It is indeed an HONOR-

And a PRIVILEGE

To work for God

And to work for Jesus

“But now

The Lord declares=

'Far be it from me!

Those who HONOR me

I will HONOR-

But those who despise me

Will be disdained'” 1 Samuel 2:30

“Wisdom's instruction

Is to fear the Lord

And humility

COMES BEFORE HONOR” Proverbs 15:33

And so today

I want to RE-EMPHASIZE

What an honor

And what a PRIVILEGE

It is

To work for God

And to write for him

And you

What a JOY it brings!

And what joy

It must have been=for John

To be Jesus' cousin

And to give ALL

Of his FOLLOWERS to Jesus

WORKING for the LORD

With our lives

What an HONOR

AND A PRIVILEGE

JOHN THE BAPTIST

Today is the feast

Of Jesus’ cousin, John

He was a forerunner

To Jesus’ message

Of peace and love

But he taught

In a way

Of fire and brimstone

He tried to

Prepare the way

For Jesus

He tried

To do what is right

He was rewarded

For his efforts

By someone

Cutting off his head

John had many followers

He even baptized Jesus

He was Jesus’ cousin

He was Jesus’

Forerunner in love

Ps “Then Jesus came from Galilee

To the Jordan to be baptized by John

But John tried to deter him saying,

“I need to be baptized by you

And do you come to me?”

Jesus replied,

“Let it be so now

It is proper for us

To do this to fulfill all righteousness”

Then John consented

As soon as Jesus was baptized

He went up out of the water

At that moment-heaven was opened

And he saw the SPIRIT OF GOD

Descending like a dove and lighting on him

And a voice from heaven said,

“This is my Son-whom I love

With him I am well pleased” Matthew 3:13-17

HOLDING TO GOD'S TRUTH

There are many FALSE PROPHETS

In this world=

Those that PROMISE to

Pray for us=IF

We send them money

And the feel good

POP-psychologists

That tell us=

That all that stands in the way

Between us and happiness

Is losing 20 pounds

There are MANY

In this world

Who have all the ANSWERS

And all the excuses

“BEWARE of false prophets

Who come to you

In sheep's clothing

But underneath

Are ravenous wolves” Matthew 7:15

And then there

Are those FALSE PROPHETS

Who are NOT so easy

To spot

Those that tell us

We are wise enough

And don't need God

In our lives

Or that we are

SO SINFUL that

God couldn't possibly

Love us

But this FOLLOWER

Of Christ=follower of God

The HOLY FATHER=

Knows that God

Does love me=

God really does love us

In spite of everything

That we do

HOLDING ON to the

TRUTHS OF GOD!

Holding on to

FAITH-HOPE-and LOVE

Holding on to

The SPIRIT OF GOD

“And now these three

Remain=FAITH-HOPE

And LOVE=and the greatest

Of these is love” 1 Corinthians 13:13

“I-the Lord=

Speak the TRUTH=I declare

What is right” Isaiah 45:19

“Yet a time is coming

And has now come

When the true worshipers

Will worship the Father

In the Spirit=and in TRUTH

For they are

The kind of worshipers

The Father seeks” John 4:23

HOLD ON to God's TRUTH

Holding on=to the TRUTH

Of God

People lie to us=

All the time

In this world=we live in

But GOD OUR FATHER

Never lies=he can

ONLY speak the truth

Dear Lord=we PRAY

That we can HOLD ON

To your truths=

FAITH-HOPE-and LOVE

And not follow

The ways of the world

In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our ever HONEST and TRUTHFUL FATHER GOD!

Just as I am

I come before you

To you

But you already know

So what’s the point

Just as I am

You always loved me

Just as I am

I know you always will

I would perfect myself

If I could

But you already accepted me

Just as I am

Just as I am

You always loved me

Just as I am

I know you always will

I know you will

Love me

Just as I am

Ps God loves ALL his children

“I AM the true vine, and my FATHER is the gardener” John 15:1

“I AM the way and the truth and the life

No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6

“Jesus said to her,

“I AM the resurrection and the life

He who believes in me will live

Even though he dies;

And whoever lives and believes in me

Will never die

Do you believe this?” John 11:25 & 26

TRAVEL LIGHT

 

TRAVELING LIGHT

We ALL have to travel

Like it or not

For ONE reason or another

Some for work or business reasons

Some for medical reasons

Some for vacation

And often times-just to see family or friends

And we all PACK differently

Some heavy

Some medium

Some light

Jesus instructed his disciples:

“Take nothing for the journey

Except a staff-

NO bread-no bag-no money

In your belts

Wear sandals

But not an extra tunic

Whenever you enter a house

Stay there

Until you leave that town

And if any place

Will not welcome you

Or listen to you

Shake the dust

Off your feet

When you leave

As a testimony against them” Mark 6:8-11

TRAVEL LIGHT

But I think

More so than that

What Jesus was REALLY TALKIN ABOUT

Was our spiritual and emotional baggage

And let’s BE HONEST

We are ALL carrying baggage

Form our past

Some heavy

Some medium

Some light

The LESS we carry with us

The easier

To navigate our own spiritual journey

And the more

We are CAPABLE of helping others

Carry theirs

“CARRY each other’s burdens

And in this way

You will FULFILL the law of Christ”

We are WEIGHED down

With too much stuff

Too many hard memories

Too many fears

TRAVEL LIGHT

Well

Life is a journey

And the BEST

We can hope for

Is to shake off

The dust of those

Who have been UNKIND to us

And to TRUST GOD

That what we need

Will be provided

And to

TRAVEL LIGHT

WHAT REALLY MATTERS!

 

WHAT REALLY MATTERS!

There are many things

Going on in this world=

We get messed up on

WHAT REALLY MATTERS!

For one thing=we have

Lots of STUFF=and we

Don't always know WHERE

To put everything

I guess=that is WHY

There are over 40,000

Sefl-storage facilities

In the United States

We certainly=do have s

Lot of stuff=and we don't know

WHERE to put it all

I know I don't

"Their possessions were so great

That they

Could not dwell together"                                                                                                                Genesis 13:6

Do what REALLY MATTERS=

On your journey=stay close

With the Lord=Jesus cautioned us

To TRAVEL LIGHT

For a lot of this stuff

Takes up too MUCH ROOM

In our homes

And in our hearts

MAKING ROOM for God

Making room for Jesus

On our journey through life

WHAT REALLY MATTERS!

"The Lord your God

Has blessed you

In all the work

Of your hands

He has watched

OVER YOUR JOURNEY-

Through this vast wilderness"                                                                                             Deuteronomy 2:7

"Again it will

Be like a man

Going on a JOURNEY=

Who called his servants

And entrusted=his wealth to  them"                                                                           Matthew 25:14

"I plan to do so

When I go

To Spain

I hope to see you

When passing through=

And have you assist me

On my JOURNEY there                                                                                             

After I=have enjoyed your company

For awhile"                                                                                                                               Romans 15:24

WHAT REALLY MATTERS

Is the time spent

With GOD=and family=and

Close friends=and who we TREASURE

IN OUR HEARTS!

WHAT REALLY MATTERS

Is that we LIVE with the qualities

Of God=and of the SPIRIT

"BUt the fruit of the SPIRIT

Is love=joy=peace=forbearance

Kindness=goodness=faithfulness=gentleness

And self-control=against such things

There is no law"                                                                                                                                 Galatians 5:22

Dear Lord=we PRAY=help us

To know WHAT REALLY MATTERS=

And that it is NOT

Material possessions in this world

And on OUR LIFE'S JOURNEY

To make room=for the things

Of the HEART and SPIRIT=and the

ABUNDANCE of God's love

In Jesus' name=and our ever IMPORTANT God =the HOLY FATHER!

WE BELONG TO GOD

YOU BELONG TO GOD!

Our God-Our loving-

PROTECTIVE God

Is greater than the evil

In this world

If we but CHOOSE GOD

“Children-

Be on your guard

Against idols” 1 John 5:21

Easy to say

But not so easy

To do

There are so many things

In this world

That challenges us

To place them above God

Promising goodness

But NOT delivering

The idols of today are

The SAME as they always have been-

The things we put above God and families

Money and materialism-sex-alcohol-

Drugs-pornography-etc., etc., etc.

It can even be another person

Or group of people

That aren't any good for you

Don't sacrifice your lives

To the idols of this world

“If the world hates you

Keep in mind

That it

Hated me first

If you

Belonged to the world

It would love you

As its own

As it is

You do not belong

To the world

But I have CHOSEN YOU

Out of the world

That is WHY

The world hates you” John 15:18-19

You belong

TOTALLY to God

“Who has a claim against me

That I must pay?

Everything under heaven

BELONGS to me” Job 41:11

Eternal life

IS already in us

ALL we have to do

Is to KEEP our priorities in order

And choose GOD AND FAMILY

Over the idols

In this world

CHOOSE what is true and good

For our souls

“Now CHOOSE LIFE

So that you

And your children may live

And that you may LOVE

The Lord your God

Listen to his voice

And hold fast to him

For the Lord

IS YOUR LIFE

And he will give you

MANY years in the land

He swore to give

To your fathers-

Abraham-Isaac-and Jacob” Deuteronomy 30:19-20

And we must always REMEMBER

We are the ADOPTED CHILDREN

Of God

We are inquisitive

We are tempted

We can REACH

For God and FAMILY

And the good things

Of this world

Or we can choose

The idols of our world

(sex-money-worldly values-etc., etc., etc.)

What path

Are you going to choose?

The choice is ours

But remember

YOU BELONG TO GOD!
