WORKING FOR=THE KINGDOM OF GOD

 

Did you EVER WONDER=

What Jesus’ HOME life

Was like?=Just Joseph=Mary

And Jesus=maybe some HALF BROTHERS

Or cousins=but who knows?

 

Joseph was a carpenter

And WORKED HARD to support

The family=I imagine=And

He did his best=TO PROTECT THEM

From the world’s evil

 

“I am the GOOD SHEPHERD=

And I know mine=and mine know me”                                                                                    John 10:14

 

I WONDER what=if anything

Joseph could have TAUGHT Jesus=

But we can SURMISE

Joseph was STONG in the

TRADITIONAL Jewish faith=and led Jesus

In that direction=NOT that he had to

 

TODAY=we celebrate=The FEAST

Of the GOOD Saint Joseph=for his family

 

What a GREAT EXAMPLE

He is for ALL=CHRISTIAN MEN

TRYING to support a wife=a family

And a CAREER

WORKING HARD=FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD

 

Joseph did that=and we

Should ALL do it too

 

“Your throne=O God

Will last forever=and ever=

A scepter of justice=will be the scepter

OF YOUR KINGDOM”                                                                                                                       Psalm 45:6

 

“His KINGDOM=

Is an ETERNAL KINGDOM

His dominion endures=

From generation to generation”                                                                                              Daniel 4:3

 

“Blessed are

The poor in spirit=for theirs is

THE KINGDOM of heaven”                                                                                                          Matthew 5:3

 

Saint Joseph is regarded

As the SILENT SAINT=for nary

A word=is spoken by him

IN the bible

Maybe he was=JUST the strong silent type

 

Nevertheless he was=THE LEADER

Of the FAMILY=of himself=Mary=and Jesus

And a PERFECT EXAMPLE

 

Working for his family

Working for

THE KINGDOM OF GOD

 

“He must manage

HIS OWN FAMILY WELL=

And see that=his children

Obey him

 

And he must do so=in

A manner worthy=of full respect”                                                                                                1 Timothy 3:4

 

“But if a widow=Has children

Or grandchildren=these should learn first

Of all=to put their religion=Into practice

 

By caring for=THEIR OWN FAMILY

And so repaying=their parents and grandparents=

For this is=pleasing to God”                                                                                                    1 Timothy 5:4

 

Saint Joseph=ACCEPTED his calling

By raising HIS FAMILY=for

THE KINGDOM of God

We should do likewise

 

Like Saint Joseph=let us keep

WORKING FOR=THE KINGDOM OF GOD!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our FOREVER LOVING=FOREVER WORKING=Holy Father God!

HEALING=BEING RESTORED BY GOD

 

HEALING=BEING RESTORED BY GOD

We need to HEAL

From so many things

In this world

Our OWN health issues-

LOSS of loved ones-

And BROKEN relationships

To name-

But a few

“........Thus says the Lord-

The GOD 

Of your Father David

I have heard your PRAYER

And seen your TEARS=

I will HEAL YOU”                                                                                                         Isaiah 38:5

GRIEF is a lot

Like WAVES of water=

Crushing-relentless-and swirling

It is mind boggling=

We get TURNED around-

We don't know

Which way is up-

Which way is down

But we need to LEARN

To COOPERATE

With God our Father

We need to let

God hear our prayers=

We may even NEED to cry

Our Lord bears COMPASSIONATE

WITNESS to our grief=NOT a tear

Is wasted

In the eyes of the Lord

Really let God hear you

LET GOD RESTORE YOU

“I will not bring on you

Any of the diseases

I brought

On the Egyptians

For I am the Lord

WHO HEALS YOU”                                                                                                     Exodus 15:26

“........Who forgives

All your sins

And HEALS all your diseases”                                                                                        Psalm 103:3

“He HEALS the brokenhearted

And binds up

Their wounds”                                                                                                                Psalm 147:3

We need to HEAL

In so many ways

Through this life=

Emotionally-physically-SPIRITUALLY

And the Lord

Helps to RESTORE US

We need to collaborate 

And cooperate with God

In the PROCESS

Of our OWN RESTORATION=

And the Lord

Will to see to it

That we DO HEAL

That we are

WHOLE once again

Our FAITH

Can be the catalyst

To move us

To a DEEPER LEVEL

Of TRUST with God

Our CONNECTION can become even STRONGER

With the LORD

“RESTORE to me

The joy of your salvation

And grant me

A willing spirit

To sustain me”                                                                                                          Psalm 51:12

YES=the waves of GRIEF

Attack us in all ways

Through this life

Yes life does get us down

But we are RESTORED=we are

HEALED BY THE LORD

It is a world=that is

CRYING OUT=for some GOOD NEWS

It seems=we have FORGOTTEN

The GOOD NEWS=of our Lord

 

It seems=we have forgotten

We are=

SUPPOSED to be LOVING GOD=LOVING OTHERS

Above all else

 

Not me=I am

JUST LIVING=THE GOOD NEWS

Of our Lord

 

“He himself=bore our sins

IN his body=upon the cross

So that=FREE FROM SIN=WE

Might live for righteousness”                                                                                            1 Peter 2:24

 

So MANY=of us

In our country=in our world

SEEM to be living

With a sense of entitlement

 

We forget=we are

LIVING THE GOOD NEWS=JUST LIVING

THE GOOD NEWS of the Lord

 

What would you say=If someone

Asked you=WHAT is

THE GOOD NEWS=of the day?

 

We should say=Like Pope Francis says=

To say=”Jesus Christ LOVES YOU”

And HE IS=the REASON=for my JOY

Every day of my life

 

That was the GOOD NEWS YESTERDAY=

That is=the good news today=and that will BE

THE Good news tomorrow

JUST LIVING=THE GOOD NEWS!

 

“How beautiful=on the mountains

Are the feet=of those

WHO BRING GOOD NEWS…….”                                                                                                       Isaiah 52:7

 

“But the angel=said to them’=

Do not be afraid=I bring

YOU GOOD NEWS=that will cause

WHAT has happened

To our society?=what has

HAPPENED to our world?=what has

HAPPENED TO OUR JOY?

 

For if we=TOTALLY BELIEVED that

THE MESSIAH=has come=would we

LIVING like we do?

 

I BELELIEVE=and I am

Doing my BEST=to live with JOY

JUST LIVING=THE GOOD NEWS

To the altar of God

How do you know

If you are doing

The will of God

 

Something is troubling you

And you are suffering

And you know

Not what to do

 

It may be health related

Praying for a miracle

 

It may be financial

Maybe you just lost your job

 

It may be

A broken relationship

That no matter how hard that you try

You just can’t seem to restore it

 

How do you know

 

If your suffering is God’s will

I don’t know

Can’t answer that

 

But I can tell you this

 

In 1 Peter 4, it says,

“If you suffer

It should not be

As a murderer or thief

Or any other kind of criminal

Or even as a meddler

 

However

If you suffer as a Christian

Do NOT be ashamed

But PRAISE GOD

That you bear his name”                                     1 Peter 4:15 & 16

 

You may NOT even see it

How it helps anyone

But it just may be

For the GREATER GOOD

 

The will of God---

How do we know

---If we are abiding in it

 

One thing I do know

Is that

If you are trying

To live by the standards of this world

 

Sexual lust---materialism---violence

That that Is NOT

THE WILL OF GOD

 

“Do not conform

Any longer to the pattern

Of this world

But be transformed

By the renewing of the mind

 

Then you will be able

To test and approve

What GOD’S WILL IS-------------

HIS GOOD, PERFECT AND PLEASING WILL”                                 Romans 12:2

 

So HOW  do we know

Really know

That we are really doing

The will of God

 

I do know this

If it is the right choice

If it is the right decision

It---your life---your decisions

Will stand the test of tine

 

“The world and its desires pass away

Saint Peter CAPTURED it

So well=in this question to Jesus

 

IF we live=with the LOVE

Of Jesus=in our hearts

It leaves us=WITH HOPE

To go on living eternally=AFTER

We leave this world

 

If we CHOOSE=to base

Our lives=ON THE TRAPPINGS

Of this world=Money and power

We are left=FEELING EMPTY

At the end

 

There is ONLY ONE WAY

To go=If we hope=for the ETERNAL

And it is=WITH THE MASTER

 

”The student is=NOT

Above the teacher=nor a servant

ABOVE HIS MASTER”                                                                                                                   Matthew 10:24

 

“HIS MASTER replied’=

‘Well done=good and faithful servant!

The QUESTION =is so easy

It almost seems=like a TRICK QUESTION

 

Do you want=TO LIVE FOREVER?

ETERNALLY with the Lord=and our

Lord and savior Jesus Christ?=or

Do you want=a little wealth=fame and fortune

RIGHT NOW=only to be EMPTY

For all of eternity

 

I HOPE=to live in God

ALL the days=of my life=how about you?

 

“The fear of the Lord=is

The beginning of wisdom=all

 

Who follow his precepts=have good understanding

To him=BELONGS ETERNAL PRAISE”                                                                                  Psalm 111:10

 

“Your word Lord=IS ETERNAL

It stands firm=in the heavens”                                                                                              Psalm 119:89

 

So when things get TOUGH

In this life=in this world

And they will=DON’T AIM

For the emptiness of this world

 

RUN to the Lord=

The MASTER Jesus=and the Holy Father God

LIVE IN GOD FOREVER!

 

There is NOWHERE=to run to

But to=THE LORD OUR GOD=CHOOSE ETERNAL LIFE!

The truth is=IF

Our work=if our words

Are BLESSED by God=NOTHING Can stop it

For God’s words=ARE ETERNAL

 

“Heaven and earth=will pass away

BUT MY WORDS=

‘Lord to whom=shall we go?

You have=THE WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE

 

W have=come to believe

If we really believe this=

If we really LOVE GOD

 

We will keep putting

GOD’S WORDS out there=

Jesus’ words out there=for only God

Can FURTHER ETERNAL LIFE=in a lost soul

Me physically able to do so

How are we going to provide for them

 

Don’t worry

God will provide for them

How do we know

We know-because the Bible tells us so

In Genesis 22

God tells Abraham

To sacrifice his son Isaac

 

Isaac-the boy-says to his father

“Father?”

“Yes my son,” says Abraham

 

“The fire and wood are here

But where is the lamb

For the burnt offering”

 

Oh-how Abraham’s heart

Must have been breaking

 

Yet-with FAITH-he says

“God himself

Will provide the lamb for the burnt offering

My son”

 

Abraham and Isaac

Went out together

 

Abraham laid his son Isaac

On the altar

But the angel called out-

“Abraham-Abraham”

 

“Here I am,” Abraham replied

 

“Do not lay a hand

On the boy,” the angel said

“Do no do anything to him

Now I know

You fear God

Because you have not

Withheld from me your son

Abraham looked up

And saw a ram

Do you TRUST DIVINE PROVIDENCE?

Do you TRUST=the direction=

God is taking you in?

 

Today=AN ANGEL=tells the apostle Philip

To=”God south on the road--------the desert road

That goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza”                                                                        Acts 8:26

 

He follows=and when on

THE WAY=he meets an Ethiopian eunuch

 

This eunuch reads some of Isaiah=and winds up

FINDING OUT about Jesus

And gets baptized

 

“Look=there is water=What is to prevent

MY BEING BAPTIZED?”                                                                                                      Acts 8:36

 

Sometimes=THE HAND OF GOD=DIVINE PROVIDENCE

If you will=is at work=IN OUR LIVES

Moving us toward

The WORK of God

 

I have had MOMENTS

Like this=in my life=Have you?

TRUSTING IN GOD’S DIRECTION

 

“DIRECT ME=in the path

Of your commands=for there

I find delight”                                                                                                                 Psalm 119:35

 

“I am=the Lord your God=

Who teaches you=what

Is best for you=WHO DIRECTS YOU

Sometimes=we have to

ANALYZE THINGS=before we

Figure out which way to go

 

And other times=LIKE Philip today

We just have follow

THE ROAD=God puts us on

TRUSTING God’s DIRECTION=even if

It doesn’t make any sense

 

The past few years

Haven’t been easy=for any of us

Including me=but we still

Have to KEEP=TRUSTING GOD’S DIRECTION

 

FOLLOWING the road

The Lord puts on=keeping on

TRUSTING GOD’S DIRECTION

 

“Some TRUST in chariots=and

Some in horses=but we TRUST IN

The name=of the Lord our God”                                                                                                  Psalm 20:7

 

“In that day=they will say=

‘Surely=this is our God=we

TRUSTED IN HIM=and he saved us

 

This is the Lord=WE TRUSTED IN HIM

Let us rejoice

And be glad=in his salvation’”                                                                                                  Isaiah 25:9

 

After the RESURRECTION=all

Of the apostles=put their lives

IN the hands of the Lord

They=TRUSTED GOD’S DIRECTION

 

What could be MORE NOBLE

To do with your life

Than that?=may we ALL

TRUST IN=the Lord’s plan

For our lives

 

And let him USE US=

Through the Holy Spirit=and build up

We have one mission

To learn to love God and all others

It’s hard work--to love

When people are being mean and cruel

It’ hard work to keep loving

People who are being rude

 

One mission

One mission to learn to love

One mission

To learn to forgive

Lord--what makes it so hard

I think it’s just selfishness

It’s just for ourselves

From heaven=NOT to do my own will

BUT THE WILL=of the one

Who sent me”                                                                                                                   John 6:38

 

Most of us=have had

TO ADJUST=our dreams

TO DO=THE FATHER’S WILL

Aligning our lives=WITH THE PURPOSE

The Lord=has for us

 

So now=I live

A life TOTALLY DEVOTED

To God=to family=and

TO DO=THE WILL OF GOD

 

Jesus is MY HERO=He stuck

To God’s plan=for his life=I HOPE

I can do the same

ADJUSTING TO DO=THE FATHER’S WILL

 

“I desire=TO DO YOUR WILL

My God=your law=is within

My heart”                                                                                                                                         Psalm 40:8

 

“Going a little farther=He fell

With his face=to the ground

And prayed=

 

‘MY FATHER=if it is possible

May this cup=bee taken=from me

Yet=NOT AS I WILL

BUT AS YOU WILL’”                                                                                                                        Matthew 26:39

 

That is LORD JESUS=

That is him=SUBLIMATING

His very own will

For the Father’s WILL

For the GOOD=of this world

 

That is something

We should all SUBSCRIBE TOO=

Sublimating=our own selfish wills

To DO=THE FATHER’S WILL=for the world

 

“For I have not hesitated=

To proclaim to you=THE WHOLE WILL

Of God”                                                                                                                                              Acts 20:27

 

“Therefore do not=be foolish

But understand=What

THE LORD’S WILL IS”                                                                                                                        Ephesians 5:17

 

Dear Lord=we pray

THAT YOU REMOVE=the selfish nature=of sin

In us=and all of our lives

 

AND REPLACE IT=with the will

TO DO=THE WILL OF GOD

And Jesus

TO DO=THE FATHER’S WILL!

 

Align our lives=Adjust our lives

TO DO=THE FATHER’S WILL

Just like our Lord Jesus

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our Holy Living-Loving Father God!

SAINT MARK

 

 

Saint Mark was an evangelist

But not

One of the original apostles

 

He was the young man

Who followed Christ

After his arrest

And later escaped capture

 

“A young man wearing nothing

But a linen garment

Was following Jesus

 

When they seized him

He fled naked

Leaving his garment behind”                                                          Mark 14:51-52

 

Dear Lord-we pray

That as we follow you

Through our lives

When times become tough

That we do not flee from you

As the other apostles

And Mark did

 

Mark was later

The companion

Of both Paul and Peter

 

Paul and Barnabas-Mark’s cousin

Took Mark on Paul’s first missionary journey

But Mark turned back

For Jerusalem

 

Paul became angry

And his quarrel with Barnabas

Led to Barnabas and Mark
Preaching together in Cypress

 

“Some time later

Paul said to Barnabas,

‘Let us go back

And visit the brothers

Where we preached the Word of the Lord

And see how they are doing’

 

Barnabas wanted to take John

Also called John Mark with them

But Paul did not think

It wise to take him

Because he had deserted them

In Pamphylia

And not continued with them

In the work”                                                                    Acts 15:36:38

 

They had a sharp disagreement

And Barnabas and Mark

Preached in Cyprus

 

Paul took Silas

And headed out to strengthen the churches

In Syria and Cilicia

 

Later

Mark was with Paul

When Paul was in prison

 

“My fellow prisoner Aristarchus

Sends you his greetings

As does Mark-the cousin of Barnabas

(“You have received instructions about him

If he comes to you-welcome him”)                                                        Colossians 4:10

 

And Peter referred to Mark,

“As his son”

 

“She who is in Babylon

Chosen together with you

Sends you her greetings

As does my son Mark”

 

We must remember

That Mark was a good deal younger

Than Peter and Paul

And that Peter

Is probably the SOURCE

Of most of Mark’s Gospel

 

It is believed

Mark suffered martyrdom

Possibly in Alexandria

Of which he was the first bishop

 

The symbol of Mark

As an evangelist

Is the lion

And his feast day

Is April 25^th

Children and women

Are being molested

Are being abused

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

People are living

On the streets

People are having trouble

Feeding their kids

And making ends meet

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

People are getting inadequate healthcare

In some cases

No healthcare at all

But what do we care

It’s none of our concern

 

Gay and lesbian people

Are being excluded

In every walk of life

What do we care

Isn’t it “in” to hate them

It’s none of our concern

 

Jesus said

“what you do to the least of my brothers………..:”

 

What do we care

It’s none of our concern
