Did you ever NOTICE=

The more we hang

Around with someone=

The MORE our traits

And habits=

Start to resemble each other?

I have also noticed

WHEN a couple have been

Married a long time=

The more

They start to look

Like each other

“STOP condemning

And you

HOPEFULLY=the same

Can be said=about us

And God

The more time we

SPEND with God and Jesus=

The MORE we should begin

To resemble LOVE=

The more

We should become

A LOVING REFLECTION

Of our God=and

Of our Jesus

NOW=might be a

GOOD TIME=to look at

The definition=of love

And see

IF we are REFLECTING

Any of the qualities

“LOVE is patient=

Love is kind=it does not envy

It dose not boast

It is NOT proud=

It does not dishonor others=

It is not self-seeking

It is not easily angered

It keeps NO RECORD of wrongs=

Love does not delight in evil=

But REJOICES with the truth

It always protects=

Always trusts=always hopes

Always perseveres=

IF you are living

I GUARANTEE

A HOLY VISION FROM GOD

Today we read about

Jesus=and some

Of the apostles

(Peter-James-and John)=

And a VISION=before them

On a HIGH MOUNTAIN

Elijah and Moses appear WITH JESUS=

And they talk with him-

And the Holy Father

Anoints him=as the SON

A VISION FROM GOD

Picture this=as if

You were there too

“Then came a cloud

Casting a shadow

Over them

Then from the cloud

Came a voice=

'This is my BELOVED SON=

Listen to him'” Mark 9:7

In the TRANSFIGURATION=

Jesus' clothes=

Become dazzling while

And he COMMUNICATES

With Moses and Elijah

NOT death=not time

Not anything

Can keep them apart

God is untethered=

A HOLY VISION FROM GOD!

“Who may ascend

The mountain=of the Lord?

Who may stand

But we have responsibilities

What is RIGHT

CONSIDER the common good

FOLLOW the laws? Or do

You BELIEVE

The laws are arbitrary?

I am talking about civil laws

And RELIGIOUS LAWS

I believe there

Are 613 JEWISH LAWS

And then we have

The two laws of Jesus=

Love God and love

YOUR NEIGHBOR as yourself

Do what is BEST

For the COMMON GOOD=

Be RESPONSIBLE to the Lord

And to all others

“Rich and poor

Have this in COMMON=

The Lord is

The MAKER of them all” Proverbs 22:2

“No temptation

Has overtaken you

Except what is COMMON

To mankind

And God is faithful=

He will not let you

Be tempted

I OWED GOD ONE

 

FEBRUARY 26^thth, 2012

I OWED GOD ONE

Many years ago, in a hospitalization that began on my 22^nd birthday, I had gangrene,

Peritonitis, blood poisoning, and a host o other things. I had emergency surgery and

Was given 0 per cent chance to live. I had the last rights, went unconscious and two weeks later woke up alive.

What I didn’t know was that my Uncle John was outside punching the walls and praying.

What I didn’t know was that my Dad was praying, “he’s just a young man, he has his

Whole life in front of him, I wish God would take me.” My grandfather, Carl Wallman,

Who was 72 years old and in fair health, was praying the same words as my father. The

Day that I left Saint John’s Hospital and went to my Aunt’s to recuperate, my grandfather

Had a stroke and went into that same hospital. My grandfather died February 26^th, 1977.

I have lived my whole life with a chronic illness and in severe chronic pain. I had always

Wanted to meet a woman and have my own family. It never did happen for me. My health, and my finances due to health, were factors.

Many years later, in a different city, I met a woman who I was immediately attracted to.

I will call her Jennifer for the purposes of this story.

Jennifer was a petite woman of not more than 100 pounds. Jennifer took an immediate

Dislike to me---though I couldn’t imagine why. I knew I didn’t say or do anything.

Jennifer had the three most beautiful girls---about 8, 10, and 14 years old. They were

A beautiful family of Hispanic origin. It turned out that there was some sexual abuse within the family.

I was never quite able to connect with Jennifer---but years later I got a card signed by

Jennifer and the three girls that read:

“we will keep in touch with you and remember you are in our thoughts and

Hearts as well as God’s.”

While it will never be the kind of love I had hoped for as a young man, I will always love

This woman and her 3 girls; with ”a spiritual kind of love.”

Jennifer’s birthday is February 26^th. I guess you could say: “I OWED GOD ONE.”

WAITING WITH US

Psalm 130 is OFTEN used

When a loved one dies

It speaks of profound sorrow

And overwhelming grief=

In which we

Sometimes find ourselves

When a loved one dies

“My soul

WAITS for the Lord=

More than sentinels

Wait for the dawn” Psalm 130:6

But we are not

WITHOUT HOPE=even in

Our lowest of times

No matter what happens=

Regardless of

However long-that it takes-

Our Lord NEVER ABANDONS US

He WAITS with us

He is=

A FAITHFUL COMPANION to us

He is BY OUR SIDE

WAITING WITH US=

Our Lord does=no matter

What the situation

“WAIT for the Lord=

Be strong=and take heart

And WAIT-

“On one occasion-

While he was=eating with them

He gave them this command

WE WAIT with the Lord

With hearts aware-

When bad news comes

We WAIT

For the first sign

Of dawn=for the first sign

OF HOPE

For there is

ALWAYS HOPE in the Lord

“For in this HOPE

We were saved=

But Hope that is seen

If they BELONG to

The SAME political party

TREAT US WELL FIRST

The LORD'S rule is SIMPLE

CHILDREN OF LIGHT

In Jesus’ day

He often talked about being

“CHILDREN OF LIGHT”

Mistakenly-the people of his day

Thought he meant being “spiritual” was good

And being “earthly” was bad

What Jesus was in fact

Trying to teach us

Was to CHOOSE good instead of evil

So how can we be CHILDREN OF LIGHT

In today’s world

Give someone who can’t get out

A ride to the Doctor’s office

Or to the store to get groceries

Volunteer at a hospital or a rescue mission

Send someone a birthday or a get-well card

Do something good for someone-ANONYMOUSLY

There are any number of things

That we can do in today’s world

Or we can choose to live selfish-self-absorbed lives

Concerned ONLY with ourselves-our own material goals

Our own sexuality-or our own needs

Choose to be a “child of light” in today’s world

What a rummage sale is

It is

Something that they used to have

Maybe still do

After a person dies

You know the items:

perhaps a woman’s wedding or prom dress

or the tux or suit a man got married in

maybe a lamp or an old desk

or some personal items

like books or jewelry

some old furniture

and over there in the corner sits an old piano

with no one giving it much attention

People---men and women---are coming and going

Buying everything

While the piano continues to sit there unnoticed by everyone

Over there in the corner

A little while later

An elder gentleman comes in

Sits down at the piano

And begins to play

And beautiful music

Comes out of this old piano

People are clamoring about

And the bids keep getting higher---higher---yet higher

What changed its worth

Of course---it is

The touch of a master’s hand

We too

Are like the old piano

Trying to build a life

On all the wrong things: greed and materialism

sexual lust and perversions

our addictions---drugs-alcohol-and pornography

and whatever else in our life that we are putting above God

SO WHAT CHANGES US

Of course

It is the touch of God

THE TOUCH OF A MASTER’S HAND

The moment

We realize that we are a CHILD OF GOD

That God loves us

With an everlasting---never-ending

UNCHANGING kind of love

The moment we realize our worth

The ONLY worth that matters

Comes from God

“These have come

So that your faith

Of greater worth than gold

Which perishes even though refined by fire---

May be proved genuine

And may result

In praise, glory, and honor

When Jesus Christ is revealed” 1 Peter1:7

In the Sermon on the Mount

Our Lord says,

“Blessed are the poor in spirit

For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”

But who are

The poor on spirit

I dear say

It is us

ALL OF US---

Because we are chasing

The wrong things

Most of us

Are chasing lives

Based on wealth, fame, status, and fortune

But these things

Will not fill us up

Nature abhors a vacuum

And we

Must fill our lives with something

I suggest

We try to fill our lives with LOVE

Love of God---and---

Only then

Can our spirit be filled

Only then can we be

NO LONGER---poor in spirit

LIFE IS A BLESSING

God sets before us

CONSTANT CHOICES in life

ONE such choice is HOW

We are going to live

Our life

Are we going to live

Our lives=as a BLESSING

For others=or as a curse

I TRY to live

As a blessing for OTHERS

“I set before you=life and death=

The BLESSING and the curse

Choose life then=

That you-

And your descendants may live

By loving the Lord=

Your God........” Deuteronomy 30:19-20

It seems like-

Such an easy choice=

I'll take the BLESSING

Unfortunately=many of us

Don't TREAT life as a blessing

Don't live life as a BLESSING

Live with responsibility=

LIVE WITH GRATITUDE

MANY of us=choose

A selfish kind of life

NO SHARING=of any kind

Saying=”mine-mine-mine”

But I know=LIFE is a BLESING=

I have been taught by God=HOW PRECIOUS

Have been given=EXTRA CHANCES

At life

LIFE IS INDEED A BLESSING!

“BLESSED is the nation

Whose God is the Lord=

The people he chose

For his inheritance” Psalm 33:12

“Where there is no revelation

People cast off restraint

“For he has been mindful

We need to REMEMBER=

Say recently

For every person=COMING to

The CHURCH=six and ½ people are leaving=

I SUSPECT he was

Talking about the CATHOLIC CHURCH

But I also suspect

The trend is true

For most CHRISTIAN religions

MORE LEAVING=than coming

HOW SAD it is=when

We live in a time=

People are turning away from God

We need MORE GOD=

Not less=we need GOD

More than ever before

NOW is the time

To TURN BACK to God=

Now is the time=

When we should be

Turning back to our FAITH=

Turning back to OUR GOD

“Behold=now is

A very acceptable TIME

Behold-now is

The day of salvation” 2 Corinthians 6:2

With LENT beginning=there

Couldn't be a BETTER TIME

To turn back to God

God is trying to

Get our ATTENTION=Look at

This time of COVID=of racial injustice

Of severe political divisions

NOW IS THE TIME

To turn back to God

“TURN to me=and be saved

Of the earth

For I am God-

“He has blinded their eyes=

And hardened their hearts

So they can neither see

With their eyes=

That there is NO BETTER TIME

Than right now

TO TURN BACK TO GOD

A lot of us=like to PUT OFF

There is nothing

LIKE WATER=so soothing=

So comforting=so REFRESHING

There is nothing like

Going to the OCEAN=

With our family and/or

Friends=So RELAXING

WATER is in our lives=

From the day we were BORN=

Some of us

Are even BAPTIZED as infants

God uses water for

THE SAVING POWER

Of our God=of our LIVES

“The voice of the Lord

Is over the WATERS=

The Lord

Over vast WATERS” Psalm 29:3

I just LOVE IT

At the ocean=

I love the salt water-

I love the crashing waves=

And I love

The changing tides

God USES water

To save us=God

TO BRING RENEWAL

I love TALKING with

The Lord=at all times

To the Mediterranean Sea=

God USES WATER

Throughout the bible=

We find it in Genesis

And the Spirit of God bringing

CREATION out

Over the waters

And later we have NOAH'S ark

SAVING God's chosen family

And who can forget

How the LORD SAVED

His people via

Their EXODUS =through the sea

But mot of all

We have our BASTISM

As infants/and or adults

The VOICE of the Lord

Has spoken through

THE SAVING POWER=OF OUR GOD

Of Covid=we live in

A time of infections and DEATH

We live in a time

Of RACIAL INJUSTICE=

And at a time

WHERE each and everyone

Of us

Need to OPEN our ears

And LISTEN

For the Word of God

Let us ALL be open

To God's Word=let us

Read the bible

And let us listen

“My dear brothers

And sisters=take note of this

Everyone should be quick

TO LISTEN=slow to speak

And slow to become angry” James 1:19

Broken down people

Broken in every way

I am just one of you

A broken down person

Among broken down people

Living in a broken down world

I am broken down physically

Seven operations

Living chronically in pain

From day to day

I am just a broken down person

Living among

A lot of broken down people

Trying to live in

A broken down world

So I’ve been broken physically

Broken financially

I have had many relationships

That I couldn’t save

Both family and friends

No matter how hard that I tried

HE ANSWERS US!

Our God=always answers

OUR PRAYERS=but NOT always

The way=

WE would like to hear

HE ANSWERS US!

For example=the Lord

Gave me life=but he

Didn't give me the LIFE-

I had envisioned for myself=

A FAMILY and a career

But he gave me

SOMETHING BETTER=a life

DEVOTED to God=a life

FULL of God's love

HE ANSWERS US!=

The Holy Father and Jesus

Answer our prayers

“Behold=thus is

The man BLESSED-

Who fears the Lord” Psalm 128:4

We may not

Always RECEIVE=

A physical healing

We may not all

Have UNLIMITED finances=

And we may not all

Receive the family=and relationship

We may so DESIRE

But God DOES answer PRAYERS=

He gives us=WHAT WE NEED
He answers us!

“Do not-

Be like them=

For your Father knows

WHATYOU NEED

Before you ask him” Matthew 6:8

“Share with=the Lord's people

Who ARE IN NEED=

Practice hospitality” Romans 12:13

Sometimes we don't receive

EXACTLY what we want=

But sometimes we get-

What we NEED

But sometimes=we receive

A special GRACE

From God-

Special graces from Jesus

But I cannot EMPHASIZE ENOUGH

That God does answer us=

That God gives us

What we need=I know

He has done that

FOR ME

“The Lord will

Guide you always

He will satisfy YOUR NEEDS

In a sun-scorched land

And will strengthen-

Your frame” Isaiah 58:11

“And my God

Will meet=ALL YOUR NEEDS

According to the riches

Of his glory

In Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19

I NEVER received

What I wanted

But I received

What I NEEDED

From my parents=my sisters=

My EXTENDED FAMILY and friends=

Our God is a GRACIOUS GOD

I have LIVED in gratitude

And in HOPE=

God answered my prayers

HE ANSWERS US!

He will answer your prayers too=

So be grateful=and live in hope

GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS!

THE POWER OF JESUS' COMPASSIONATE LOVE

OUR God-our Jesus

Are COMPASSIONATE

They are ALWAYS ready to HEAR

WHENEVER we open our hearts

To SPEAK to them

Jesus was so COMPASSIONATE

When he walked the earth

That he was always ready to HEAL

Those in need

The sick-the deaf-the blind-

“They were exceedingly ASTONISHED

And thy said,

'He has done

ALL things well

He makes the deaf hear

And the mute speak'” Mark 7:37

It ISN'T any different

For us today-

Jesus reaches out to us

In COMPASSION

When we speak to him in PRAYER

“As a father

Has compassion on his children

So the Lord HAS compassion

On those who fear him” Psalm 103:13

And those who LOVE him-sometimes

It is NOT BEST for us

In the long run

For the Lord to answer-

AFFIRMATIVELY-and it is sometimes best

For us to WAIT awhile

ONLY the Lord KNOWS why-but he

STILL has love and compassion for us-

For our problems and our suffering

“In a surge of anger

I hid my face from you

For a moment

But with EVERLASTING KINDNESS

I will have COMPASSION on you

Says the the Lord your REDEEMER” Isaiah 54:8

“PRAISE be to the God and Father

Of our Lord Jesus Christ

The FATHER of compassion

And the God of ALL COMFORT

Who comforts us

So that we CAN comfort those

In any trouble

With the COMFORT

We ourselves receive

From GOD” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

ONE such way-that the Lord

Comforts me

Is that when I have

NO IDEA what I am going

To write

He LAYS WORDS in my heart-

And in my mind

To SHARE with all of you

And as the SAME WAY

The Lord comforts us

WE are to TRY and help

Comfort and SHARE COMPASSION

With others who are suffering

“Even though

I walk though the darkest valley

I will fear no evil

For you are WITH ME

Your rod and staff

COMFORT ME” Psalm 23:4

And we comfort each other

ALONG life's journey

WHEN I run into problems

I ask God-there is NO OTHER WAY

For me to go

And HE always takes over

And tells me what to say-

What to do

MY PRAYERS are always-

ANSWERED in some way

Because of the amazing power

Of God in our lives

I HOPE that yours are too

Dear Lord-MAY we always recognize

THE POWER OF JESUS' COMPASSION

IN OUR LIVES

CRAZY LIKE A FOX

CRAZY LIKE A FOX

My grandfather, Carl, was an interesting man. I don’t think too many people would

Argue with me if I said he was a little bit mean and ornery. But he liked me.

He played sandlot football-middle linebacker-until he was 50 years old. At 23, he

Was offered a professional baseball contract to play for the New York Giants. He

Turned it down to marry my grandmother, Ruth. There wasn’t a lot of money in

Professional sports in those days.

My main memories of my grandfather, Carl, was when he was an older man and

Lived with us.

He used to sit in the red swivel chair in our living room and swat everyone with his cane.

In fact, my mother had 2 brothers, each with three kids. One set of kids he would swat

With his cane. The other set he would let go by.

My mom and dad both worked. When they would go to bed, he would turn all the lights

On and off and make as much noise as he could. There were a couple of times that I

Thought my father was going to kill him. In fact, he became so difficult my parents

Tried to put him in the Little Sisters of the Poor. But when dad took him on the Interview, he wouldn’t open his eyes. The nuns said he would be too difficult for

Them. And then, on the way home, he shoplifted two packages of razor blades.

I really thought dad would kill him that time.

My grandfather never went out alone. After he died, we found out that after we all

Went to work and school, he went to the Garden theater. The Garden theater was an

x-rated pornographic theater.

For all his nastiness, I will always love my grandfather. He is probably the reason I am

Alive today. When I was 22, and was given 0% chance to live, my grandfather prayed

That God would take him instead of me. The day that I left Saint John’s hospital, my

Grandfather took a stroke and went into Saint John’s hospital. He died two weeks later.

I never saw him alive again.

I can’t tell you how many times that I have thought of him over the past 30 years.

I love you granddad.

Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes---a day of miracles. Though I have always been ill---I know it was a miracle that I walked out of Saint John’s hospital---

This day in 1977.

My grandfather prayed that God would take him instead of me.

On February 26^th, 1977, God did.

February 11^th, 2020=will be the 43^rd ANNIVERSARY of MY MIRACLE

OUR LADY OF LOURDES-I WILL NEVER FORGET

Our Lady of Lourdes

Is a title for the Blessed Virgin Mary

Used by Roman Catholics

In honor of apparitions of Mary

And for many miracles

That are said to have occurred there

At Lourdes, France

On the evening

Of January 18^th, 1977

I developed a tremendous pain/ pressure

In my groin area

And I was admitted to the hospital

The next day

I WILL NEVER FORGET

I was rushed

To emergency surgery

The next day

With a perforated bowel

I WILL NEVER FORGET

The first apparition

Of Our Lady of Lourdes

Was made February 11^th, 1858

By Bernadette Soubirous

A 14-year-old peasant girl

Who admitted to her mother

That a “lady”

Spoke to her

In the cave of Massabielle

About a mile from her home

The apparition of the “lady”

Were reported

On seventeen further occasions

That year

After the surgery

I laid there

For two weeks

With tubes coming

Out of every orifice in my body

In a state between life and death

I WILL NEVER FORGET

The apparition

Asked Bernadette to dig in the ground

And drink

From the spring she found there

And she did

From that day onward

That spring

Has produced 27,000 gallons of water per week

My health

Took a turn for the worse

Dr. Christian was called in

To work on me

And Father Newell was called in

To administer the Sacrament for the Sick

My temperature

Reached as high as 108 degrees

And my blood count went down to three

And I had many blood transfusions

It looked like death was imminent

I WILL NEVER FORGET

Many miracles have occurred

At Our Lady of Lourdes

Some proven authentic miracles

And many not reported at all

The day

I walked out of the hospital

Was February 11^th, 1977

The day of the first reported vision

At Lourdes, France in 1858

I will testify FOR GOD

And give thanks TO GOD

For every day

Of the REST of my life

I WILL NEVER FORGET

When I tried

To follow my own plan

I didn’t get anywhere

I didn’t know where to stand

Follow God’s plan

God’s plan will get you through

Follow God’s plan

And He’ll make you new

His plan won’t get you stuck

His plan will get you through

His plan will lead you

When there is

Nothing else to do

When you

Try to think God

There’s nothing left to self

You put your ego

Up on the shelf

And let God’s word take hold

His plan

Is not about money

His plan

Is not about sex

His plan

Is all that matters

His plan

Is about true happiness

Live out of love

Live out of goodness

Let the past behind

Forget about

All the should have hads

Follow God’s plan

God’s plan will get you through

Follow God’s plan

He’ll make you feel brand new
