THE BENEFITS=

Of traveling our life=with the LORD

Are LIMITLESS=The Lord

Gives us INFINITE LOVE=and

Peace of mind=but sometimes

There is a PRICE

For Following God=Are we

WILLING TO=PAY THE PRICE?

 

“Which ONE of you

When he wants=to build a tower

 

Does not first sit down

And CALCULATE THE COST=to see

If he has enough=to complete it?”                                                                                     Luke 14:28

 

Peter loved Jesus

The SAME WAY=you and I do

Probably more

 

This is WHY he made

The passionate claim=

“Lord I am ready=

To go with you=BOTH

To prison=and to death”                                                                                             Luke 22:23

 

But we all KNOW=when

It came time=to

PAY the price=he ran away

ONLY to redeem himself=and REAFFIRM

His love later

 

It is THE SAME WAY=with us

When the LORD=is with us

We are READY

 

But when we are=EXPERIENCING

The dark night of the soul=things change

Are we=

WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE?

 

Dear Lord=we PRAY

That we never run away

Like Peter did=and we have

CONTINUING COURAGE

 

“The following night

The Lord stood Paul=and said

‘TAKE COURAGE!

 

As you have testified=about me

In Jerusalem=so you must also

Testify in Rome’”                                                                                                                 Acts 23:11

 

Dear Lord=we pray

FOR THE COURAGE

To be ready and willing for you

ALL the days of our life

 

NOT just to die for you

But to=LIVE FOR YOU

WILLING TO=PAY THE PRICE

And witness

 

“He himself=

Was not the light=he came

ONLY AS A WITNESS

To the light”                                                                                                                   John 1:8

 

“But you will=receive power

When the Holy Spirit comes

On you

They did

And a great catch was made---153 in all

 

Lord you take over

We are headed for a fall

To overcome our health difficulties

To make our financial ends meet

 

Lord you take over

We can’t do it alone

 

We try and try

To make our marriage

And personal relationships work

We want the best

For our family and our kids

Sometimes it doesn’t work out

The way we intend

 

Lord you take over

We can’t do it

With our own power

We can’t do it alone

 

Saint Paul said,

Three times I pleaded

For the Lord

To remove the thorn in my flesh

But the Lord said to me,

“My grace is sufficient for you

My power is made perfect

In your weakness”                                                           2 Corinthians 12:9

 

Lord we are weak

But you are strong

Not by our own power

Can we do it

WALKING THROUGH FIRE

 

Today we read=the story

Of three men=who literally

WALKED THROUGH THE FIRE=

Shadrach=Meshach=and Abednego 

 

But there was a FOURTH MAN

WALKING through the fire with them

Our God=the SON OF GOD

 

“I see FOUR MEN=unfettered and unhurt

WALKING IN THE FIRE=

And the fourth looks like=A SON OF GOD”                                                                           Daniel 3:92

 

That is our God=

WALKING with us

Walking with us=THROUGH the fires of our life

Leaving us UNHURT

And going through the fires of life

With us

 

WALKING THROUGH FIRE=our God

Is protecting us

 

“You are my hiding place=

You will PROTECT ME=from trouble

And surround me=

With songs od deliverance”                                                                                                Psalm 32:7

 

“Discretion=will PROTECT YOU

And understanding=will guard you”                                                                                    Proverbs 2:11

 

“I will remain=

In the world no longer

But they are=still in the world

And I am =coming to you

 

Holy Father=PROTECT THEM

By the power=of your name……..”                                                                               John 17:11

 

Yes=Jesus literally

WALKED THROUGH  THE FIRE

With Shadrach= Meshach=and Abednego=

And PROTECTED THEM

 

Just as he protects us

As we WALK through FIRE

In this life=as we

FIGHT OUR BATTLES

 

We may NOT have FAITH

As STRONG as these three men

Or as strong as

The apostles and saints

 

But when we have

A HERO who looks

“LIKE A SON OF GOD”

We can walk=through the difficulties of life

WITH COURAGE

 

“Be strong and COURAGEOUS

Because you will lead=

These people

 

To inherit the land=I swore

To their ancestors=to give them”                                                                                         Joshua 1:6

 

“Be on your guard=stand firm=

In the faith

 

BE COURAGEOUS=be strong

Do everything in love”                                                                                                        1 Corinthians 16:13

 

Our God=walks through

Our daily lives=with us

Just as he did=with

Shadrach=Meshach=and Abednego

 

Allowing us to survive=and

Sometimes even to TRIVE

THROUGH THE FIRES=of our life

FROM A SERVANT TO A FRIEND

Did you KNOW-That Jesus

BEFORE he was hailed

As God's SON

Was a servant to all

In Mark 10-it says

“For even

The Son of Man

Did not come

To be served

BUT TO SERVE

And to give his life

As a ransom for many”                                                           Mark 10:45

SO if 

We are TRUE followers 

Of Christ

TRUE followers of God

We are called TO SERVE

Not only in word

But in deed

In whatever way

We are capable of

“He said to me,

'You are a SERVANT-Israel

In whom I will display

My splendor'”                                                                   Isaiah 49:3

Israel-GOD'S CHOSEN people

And called to SERVE

“Your attitude should be

The SAME as that of Christ Jesus

Who-being in very nature-God

Did not consider equality with God

Something to be grasped

But made himself NOTHING

Taking the very nature

Of a SERVANT

Being made in human likeness”                                                     Philippians 2:5-7

Christ is

The MODEL for humility

And to be a SERVANT

Of God

We must all be humble too

And BE a SERVANT 

Of all

“After the 

Suffering of his soul

He will see the

Light of life

And be satisfied

By his KNOWLEDGE

my righteous servant

Will justify many

And he will bear

Their iniquities”                                                                     Isaiah 53:11

Do what GOD taught

Do what

The Lord did

And he will call you FRIEND

TODAY-I call you FRIEND

“GREATER love

Has no man than this

That he lay down his life

For his friends

You are all my friends

IF you do

What I command

I no longer

Call you servant 

Because a servant

Does not know

His master's business

Instead

I have called you friends

For everything

That I learned

From my Father

I have made known

We know our master's business

Loving-forgiving-and BEING KIND

Lay down

Your life for others

Not in death

BUT IN LIFE

And God will

Jesus will

“The Wind and God”

 

 

We don’t see the wind

But we can feel it

We know

That it is there

 

We don’t see God

But we can feel him

We know

He is there

 

The wind

Moves our sailboat

Through the water

 

We try to control

Where we are going

Most of the time successful

But sometimes not

 

Like the wind on the water

Let the spirit move in us

Like the wind on the water

Let us be open to God

To where he wants

To move us

 

Like the wind on the water

Let the spirit be alive

Like the boat on the water

Let us be open to the spirit

And where he wants

To move us

 

Like all of mankind

Should be

Spirit

Help us be open

To God’s word in us

NOT ON OUR OWN!

 

I always have=to LAUGH

To myself=

WNEN someone tells me

That they are=A SELF-MADE man=

Or woman

For there is NO SUCH THING!

 

We wouldn’t even HAVE LIFE=

If it wasn’t for=

GOD’S great gift to us=and

We have to INTERACT with others

As we live

NOT ON OUR OWN!

We are all DEPENDENT on someone=

Or something

 

“The ONE who sent me

Is with me=he has

NOT left me alone…….”                                                                                                      John 8:29

 

Jesus KNEW that=more than anyone

He was TOTALLY DEPENDENT

On his Father

 

And when he LEFT this world=

He left us

THE HOLY SPIRIT=and we

Have Jesus and THE Holy Father too!

 

PLUS=we have our families=

Our extended families=and friends

NOT ON OUR OWN!=not by ourselves

 

We shouldn’t be selfish=

We should=SHARE OUR GIFTS

With others

 

“Turn my heart=

Toward your statutes=and not

Toward SELFISH GAIN”                                                                                                        Psalm 119:36

 

“Do nothing=OUT OF SELFISH AMBITION

Or vain conceit=Rather in humility

Value others=above yourselves”                                                                                            Philippians 2:3

 

“For where=

You have envy=and SELFISH AMBITION

There you find disorder=and

Every evil practice”                                                                                                         James 3:16

 

Do you FIND YOURSELF

Complaining and moaning?

Are your PRAYERS=more a complaint=

Than a petition=to

THE LORD OF LOVE?

 

I suggest maybe you have LOST

Yourself=in the process=Maybe

You have FORGOTTEN

Life is=NOT all about you

 

WE are DEPENDENT on God

And on others=on

This JOURNEY through life

And we have to SHARE=all we have

NOT ON OUR OWN!

 

“Command them=

To do good=be rich

In good deeds=and

To be generous=and WILLING TO SHARE”                                                                   1 Timothy 6:18

 

Jesus tells us=He is

ONE=with the Father

 

We may NOT BE

One with the Father

But we are=CERTAINLY DEPENDENT

On the Father=

Just as Jesus was

 

DEPENDING ON God and Jesus

And others=we can CREATE MIRACLES

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our Holy living=Holy loving=PERFECT FATHER GOD!

A NUMBER OF COVENANTS=

Between GOD=and his people

 

A FEW that I can think of=

Are David’s covenant=Moses’ covenant=

Noah’s covenant=The NEW COVENANT of Jesus

And the covenant=we read about today=

BETWEEN ABRAHAM AND GOD

 

A covenant is simply=AN AGREEMENT

Between God and you=or between

Two people=LIKE IN A MARRIAGE

 

You are to DO something=or

NOT do something=the first COVENANT

Was between God and Abraham

 

“I will MAINTAIN MY COVENANT

With you=and your descendants=after you

Throughout the ages

 

AS AN EVERLASTING PACT

To be YOUR God=and the God

Of your descendants=after you”                                                                                     Genesis 17:7

 

That is our ABRAHAM=

The FATHER=of many nations

BONDED TOGETHER WITH God=

IN LOVE

 

A covenant is simply a PROMISE

Or an agreement=You make with God

 

I will=ALWAYS REMEMBER

MY PROMISE to God

 

Right after my FIRST SURGERY

When I was 22=

I was BLEEDING INTERNALLY

 

And I promised God=IF

Given life=I would live=”For

My family=my friends=and ALL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE”

 

46 years later=

I am still alive=and I am

STILL TRYING =to serve God=

My family=and all others=with my life

BONDED WITH GOD=IN LOVE

 

But ALL PROMISES REVOLVE

Around Abraham’s promise=and our Lord

Jesus Christ’s promise

 

“The Lord has kept=

THE PROMISE he made=I

Have succeeded David=My Father

 

And now I sit=

On the throne of Israel…….”                                                                                             1 Kings 8:20

 

“THE PROMISE=is for you

And your children=and

For all=who are far off-------

 

For all=whom the Lord our God

Will call”                                                                                                                         Acts 2:39

 

“He redeemed us=in order

That the blessing given=to Abraham

Might come=to the Gentiles

Through Christ Jesus

 

So that by faith=we might receive

THE PROMISE=of the Spirit”                                                                                           Galatians 3:14

 

THROUGHT HISTORY=God has kept

ALL of his promises

God KEEPS his covenants

BONDED WITH GOD=IN LOVE!

 

Our covenants with God

CANNOT BE BROKEN=for the Lord

KEEPS his promises forever

EVERLASTING BONDS

Was once asked  by a woman

In an airport,

 

“Can you say something funny?”

 

“No I can’t,”  Mr. Hope responded

“I don’t have my funny speech writers with me”

 

I guess he didn’t need them after all

 

Another famous man,

The great Catholic Bishop---Bishop Fulton Sheen

Was once asked,

“Do you have speech writers?”

Bishop Sheen responded,

“Well yes I do---

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John”

 

Who are the speech writers

Of your life

 

Your parents---perhaps a trusted sibling

Some close friends

 

I suggest to you

That there are no accidents in life

We become

Who and what we choose to be

Who and what

We surround ourselves with

 

“If you are faithful in small things

You will be faithful in large”

 

For myself---like Bishop Fulton Sheen

The Bible has been

A source of great inspiration for me

 

The Bible has taught me

Of God’s unconditional love for me ( and you )

That I am a child of God

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

Have you ever BEEN DEAD=

To someone=for something

You did=or something

SOMEONE IMAGINED=that you did?

 

I have=and it is=AN AWFUL FEELING

There is NOTHING

That you can say or do

TO SAVE YOURSELF=defend yourself

You can only be

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

“Then Jesus said’=

‘Neither do I CONDEMN YOU=Go

From now on=sin no more’”                                                                                            John 8:11

 

Today a WOMAN

Is CAUGHT in adultery=and

The teachers and Pharisees=are INTENT

On stoning her to death=on the spot

 

She is=DEAD TO THEM

Because of her sin

 

Jesus COMES to her RESCUE

With the POWER=of his words=his actions

And sends the crowd home

 

IN DISGRACE=when he BEGINS

To write each of their sins

In the sand

 

She is=RESCUED BY GOD!

And we all have been there

At certain times=IN OUR LIFE

Needing to be RESCUED BY GOD!

 

Jesus has the POWER=

To SAVE US=and he does continually

 

“When he came=near

The den=he called to Daniel

In an anguished voice=

 

‘Daniel=servant

Of the living God=

Has your God=whom

 

You serve continually=been able

TO RESCUE YOU=from the lions?’”                                                                                   Daniel 8:20

 

“……..and to wait

For his son from heaven

Whom he raised=from the dead=Jesus

WHO RESCUES US=from the coming wrath”                                                              1 Thessalonians 1:10

 

“…….if this is so=then

The Lord knows=how

 

TO RESCUE=the godly from trials

And to hold the unrighteous=for punishment

On the day of judgment”                                                                                            2 Peter 2:9

 

That is our God=

THAT IS OUR JESUS

 

The ONE who offers

INFINITE COMPASSION to us=and gives

Our lives=BACK TO US

“GO AND SIN NO MORE”

 

Jesus has RESCUED ME

In so many ways=he has SAVED me

And he loves me

The God=Of infinite love

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

God says=

“It is I=proclaiming victory

MIGHTY TO SAVE”                                                                                                                Isaiah 63:1

 

So whatever you have done=

OR OTHERS=

Think you have done=REST WITH GOD

He is=mighty to save

RESCUED BY GOD!=just as

The adulterous woman was

 

In Jesus’ name= and in the name=of our FOREVER LOVING and RESCUING Holy Father God!

GIVING TO GOD

 

Time---money---prayer

Give to God

And give to others

Whatever and whenever you can

For if it is

Given with the proper spirit

God can make it grow---100 fold

 

“For if the willingness is there

The gift is acceptable

According to what one has

Not according to what he does not”

 

Some of us

Have no money

Some of us

Have only time and prayer

And some of us

Have only prayer

 

But it does not matter

For if the willingness

Is there

It is a gift

Acceptable to God our loving Father

 

In Luke 21

Luke tells the story

Of Jesus seeing all the rich

Putting their gifts

In to the Temple treasury

 

He then saw a poor widow

Putting in 2 copper coins

 

He said,

“I tell you truth

This poor widow

Has put in more than

All the others

 

All these people

Gave their gifts

Out of their wealth

But she out of her poverty

Put in all she had

To live on”

 

Time---money---prayer

Give to God

And give to others

All of

What you can

And God our loving Father

Will reward you

According to God’s master plan

 

“I the Lord search the heart

And examine the mind

To reward a man

According to his conduct

According to what his deeds deserve”                                      Jeremiah 17:10

NEVER TOO LATE!=to find God

 

NEVER TOO LATE!=to come

HOME TO GOD!=

 

Today I heard

A scintillating MESSAGE

From a pastor friend=of mine

 

About it=

NEVER BEING TOO LATE=

To come HOME to God

 

That is a MESSAGE

That is TRUE=for you=

For me=and EVERY single person

In this world

 

And it is AT THE HEART

Of my work=that I try to do

In my writing to you

It is=NEVER TOO LATE!=

To find God

 

This minister=Reverend Rob

Cites two examples

Matthew 20:13=in which

The LANDOWNER=pays all the workers

The same pay

 

“But he answered one of them’=

‘I am not=being unfair to you

 

Didn’t you agree=

To work for a denarius=TAKE

Your pay and go

 

I want to give=

The one who was HIRED LAST=

The same as I gave you”                                                                                                              Matthew 20:13-14

 

And the second is=

THE SAVING=of Jairus’ daughter=

Where she is BROUGHT back to life

After death=

“WHY all this commotion=and wailing?

The child is not dead=but asleep”                                                                                  Mark 5:39

 

The point is=there NEVER

Is any rush for God=and also=the point is

It is NEVER TOO LATE!=to find God

 

Of course=it is better

For us=TO COME TO GOD

And Jesus today=and spend

THE REST of our life=and eternity=

With him and the Holy FATHER GOD

 

And then=we have TWO EXAMPLES

From the book of Luke=it is

NEVER TOO LATE!=to come HOME to God

 

We have Luke 15=THE PRODIGAL SON

Where the Father=WAITS

And RECEIVES his son=back

With MERCY AND LOVE=and even

Throws a party for him

 

“For this son of mine=

WAS DEAD=and is ALIVE again

 

He was lost=and is found’=

So they began to CELEBRATE!’”                                                                                      Luke 15:24

 

And then we have=the EXAMPLE

Of the Good Thief=who said

“Jesus REMEMBER ME=

When you come into your kingdom”                                                                      Luke 23:42

 

And Jesus’ response=

“Truly I tell you=

TODAY=you will be with me

IN PARADISE”                                                                                                                     Luke 23:43

 

And so MY FRIENDS=if you are

On the FENCE about God

For any reason=TAKE a step forward

AND COME BACK

 

It is=NEVER TOO LATE!=to

COME HOME=to God and Jesus

In my early days

I used to think

That would make the test much easier

 

What I found out was---

It made the test harder

---much harder

 

Because I found out

That the questions

Were much much harder

And if you didn’t know

Where to look for the answers

Often times---You just ran out of time

 

My friends

Life is a lot like this

 

The Bible is comprised

Of 66 different books---chapters if you will

72 books---if you are Catholic

 

It has every answer

To life’s questions and problems in it

 

And it even

Gives us a few answers

That all of us can use

At all times

 

Answers like, prayer,

“Do not

Be anxious about anything

But in everything

By prayer and petition

With thanksgiving

Present your request to God

 

And the peace of God

Which transcends all understanding

Will guard your hearts

And your minds in Christ Jesus”                                         Philippians 4:6-7

 

Answers like, forgiveness,

“I tell you, NOT seven times

But seventy times seven”                                                      Matthew 18:22

 

Answers like love,

“Love the Lord your God

With all your heart

And with all your soul

And with all your mind

And with all your strength

 

………………

 

Love your neighbor as yourself

There is no commandment

Greater than these”                                                            Mark 12:30-31

 

Catch-all answers

For every single question--- to be sure

 

On how to treat others,

“If your enemy is hungry

Feed him

If he is thirsty

Give him something to drink

In doing this

You will keep burning coals on his head

 

DO NOT be overcome by evil

But OVERCOME evil with GOOD”                                      Romans 12:21-21

 

We have ALL the answers

To live

We just need to

 

                   OPEN THE BOOK

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

Have you ever BEEN DEAD=

To someone=for something

You did=or something

SOMEONE IMAGINED=that you did?

 

I have=and it is=AN AWFUL FEELING

There is NOTHING

That you can say or do

TO SAVE YOURSELF=defend yourself

You can only be

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

“Then Jesus said’=

‘Neither do I CONDEMN YOU=Go

From now on=sin no more’”                                                                                            John 8:11

 

Today a WOMAN

Is CAUGHT in adultery=and

The teachers and Pharisees=are INTENT

On stoning her to death=on the spot

 

She is=DEAD TO THEM

Because of her sin

 

Jesus COMES to her RESCUE

With the POWER=of his words=his actions

And sends the crowd home

 

IN DISGRACE=when he BEGINS

To write each of their sins

In the sand

 

She is=RESCUED BY GOD!

And we all have been there

At certain times=IN OUR LIFE

Needing to be RESCUED BY GOD!

 

Jesus has the POWER=

To SAVE US=and he does continually

 

“When he came=near

The den=he called to Daniel

In an anguished voice=

 

‘Daniel=servant

Of the living God=

Has your God=whom

 

You serve continually=been able

TO RESCUE YOU=from the lions?’”                                                                                   Daniel 8:20

 

“……..and to wait

For his son from heaven

Whom he raised=from the dead=Jesus

WHO RESCUES US=from the coming wrath”                                                              1 Thessalonians 1:10

 

“…….if this is so=then

The Lord knows=how

 

TO RESCUE=the godly from trials

And to hold the unrighteous=for punishment

On the day of judgment”                                                                                            2 Peter 2:9

 

That is our God=

THAT IS OUR JESUS

 

The ONE who offers

INFINITE COMPASSION to us=and gives

Our lives=BACK TO US

“GO AND SIN NO MORE”

 

Jesus has RESCUED ME

In so many ways=ha has SAVED me

And he loves me

The God=Of infinite love

RESCUED BY GOD!

 

God says=

“It is I=proclaiming victory

MIGHTY TO SAVE”                                                                                                                Isaiah 63:1

 

So whatever you have done=

OR OTHERS=

Think you have done=REST WITH GOD

He is=mighty to save

RESCUED BY GOD!=just as

The adulterous woman was

 

In Jesus’ name= and in the name=of our FOREVER LOVING and RESCUING Holy Father God!
