HANGING ON TO THE GOOD


There is a LOT
Of NEGATIVITY
In this world right now=
Especially now
In the AGE
Of the Corona virus


It is easy to be REJECTED=
And people fly off the handle
And RAGE at you


HANGING ON TO THE GOOD!


“SEEK GOOD and not evil
That you may live


Then truly will the Lord-
The God of hosts
BE with you-
As you claim” Amos 5:14


I know the GOOD LORD
Loves me
I know the good Lord
LOVES all of us


I do NOT BLAME
The bad=and the NEGATIVITY
Of this world
On him


I admire people
Who are COMMITTED
To doing their best=
That are CONTINUING
To see the GOOD=
Even when life
Has dealt them
A BAD HAND


HANGING on to the GOOD!
Keep doing good
In this world


“And God said'
'Let there be light'=
And there was light


God saw that
The light was GOOD
And he separated
The light from the darkness” Genesis 1:3-4


“Taste and see
That the Lord
IS GOOD=


Blessed is the one
Who takes refuge in him” Psalm 34:8


“Then you will win favor
And a GOOD NAME
In the sight of God
And man” Proverbs 3:4


It is a CHALLENGE
To stay GOOD-
To keep doing
POSITIVE things=in today's world


People disappoint me=
I might disappoint others=though
I never want to


Life TURNS on a dime=
I become surprised
I become dismayed
I become shaken


But I continue
To try=and HANG ON
To the good


“Then Jesus asked them=
'Which is lawful
On the SABBATH?


To do GOOD or
To do evil
To save life or kill?'
But they remained silent” Mark 3:4


We must continue
To SEEK THE GOOD
Even if we are
SURROUNDED by darkness


I BELIEVE=that no matter what
GOD IS HERE
In this moment=He is here


Keep HANGING ON
TO THE GOOD!

By making God’s thoughts

AT EVERY MOMENT

AT EVERY MOMENT


Sometimes=we get worried=
We get AFRAID=we think
Jesus has FORGOTTEN ABOUT US


I know I get like this=
I forget Jesus is with me=
With us
AT EVERY MOMENT


That was the case with
The apostles today=
As they were OUT
On the water


A STORM came out of nowhere=
And almost did them in
IF not for Jesus


“As Jesus got into a boat=
His disciples FOLLOWED HIM” Matthew 8:23


Suddenly a storm swamped
The boat=and Jesus was with them
To SAVE THE DAY


AT EVERY MOMENT
Of the day
Jesus is right there=
RIGHT BESIDE US


“Jesus was sleeping
The disciples went
And woke him saying
'Lord save us!
We're going to drown'


He replied='You of little FAITH=
Why are you so AFRAID?'
Then he got up
And rebuked the wind
And the waves
And it was COMPLETELY CALM” Matthew 8:25-26


JESUS SAVED them=as he
Has saved us=so
Many many times


With health issues-
With financial issues-
And with relationship problems=
JESUS SAVES US!


Like the disciples=
We too are CHALLENGED
To REMEMBER


That no matter
How turbulent and frightening
The STORMS of our lives are


Jesus is ALWAYS PRESENT=
Jesus is with us
AT EVERY MOMENT!


“........that the mirth
Of the wicked is brief


The joy of the godless
Lasts but A MOMENT” Job 20:5


“Who has heard
Of such things?
Who has ever seen
Things like this?


Can a country
Be born=in a day
Or a nation
Be brought forth
IN A MOMENT?” Isaiah 66:8


Sometimes it seems-
As though Jesus
Is ASLEEP or unresponsive


But he is always there
AT EVERY MOMENT=
He is always present


“Blessed are those
Who have learned
To acclaim you


Who walk in the light
Of your PRESENCE-Lord” Psalm 89:15


He is our EVER PRESENT GOD=
Active and caring=AT EVERY MOMENT
Of our lives

HOW can we get
To KNOW JESUS?


He no longer walks
Among us=GETTING to know him
Is GRACE=it is a
GIFT FROM GOD

Jesus is the WORD

FEELING FRUSTRATED?


We are living
In an UNPRECEDENTED TIME
During human history


It is easy to feel
ALONE AND FRUSTRATED
During this most difficult time


“WHY-O God
Have you cast us
Off together?” Psalm 74:1


Have you DRIFTED AWAY from God
From friends=
During this most difficult time?
It is very easy to do
During these times


It is EASY
To stop talking
About things that matter


Close relationships drift away
And we get FURTHER and
Further away from each other


DON'T let that happen
Get closer to FAMILY and friends=
Get CLOSER to God


FEELING FRUSTRATED?
Get closer to God


“The Lord
IS CLOSE
To the brokenhearted


And saves those
Who are crushed in spirit” Psalm 34:18


“He tends his flock
Like a shepherd


He gathers the lambs
In his arms
And carries them
CLOSE to his heart


He gently leads those
That have young” Isaiah 40:11


“I will bring him near

FEELING FRUSTRATED?
Don't drift away from others

WHO can we help today?
Who can we EXTEND
A hand too?


The hand that we offer
Might NOT bring about
A PHYSICAL HEALING=
The way
That Jesus' did


But we can MOMENTARILY
RELIEVE another person
From his or her
Discomforting situation


We can EXTEND
Our hand in KINDNESS
In such a way
That it leaves the other person
With a TOUCH
Of CHRIST-LIKE CARE


Extending care-
Extending KINDNESS
To a person IN NEED


“Anxiety weighs down

THE DEBT












We all have financial debt/obligations
In this world


Debt to pay off our houses
Debt to pay off our cars
Our student loans
And many other types of debt


Our Lord and Savior---Jesus
Had a debt to pay off too
The debt of the selfish choices
That we make
And the cruel things we do to one another


The coldness, the indifference, the ingratitude,
The luke warmness, and ultimately rejection
The rejection of God and the rejection of others
In the way that we live our lives


Just as
We have to pay off our financial debts
Jesus chose willingly and freely
To pay off our selfish sinful debts


Otherwise known as the CROSS


How willing are you
How willing am I
How willing would you be
To pay off the debt
Of a family member
Of a friend
Of a stranger---of someone
That you don’t even know


That is what our Lord and Savior
Did for us
Stepped forward
And paid off
The debt of our sins


One difference
We are people
He does know---and know intimately


For he
Created us out of nothing
Knows each and every thought
That we have ever had
Knows each and every thought
That we ever will have


Unfortunately for many of us
We do not know him
Or even
Attempt to know him


WHY
Because we are his children
We are
CHILDREN OF GOD


He loves each of us
With a never-changing
---a never-ending love
An INFINITE LOVE
A love that we human beings
Sometimes do not understand


“Let NO DEBT remain outstanding
Except the continuing DEBT
To love one another
For he who loves his fellowman
Has fulfilled the law” Romans 13:8


“Love your neighbor as yourself
Love does no harm
To its neighbor
Therefore love
Is the FULFILLMENT of the law”

GOD'S WILL


But most of us WANT
To do it

We can all do God's will

If we COMPROMISE
Just a little=
Well maybe a lot

The Kingdom of heaven


But only the one
Who DOES THE WILL

Let us face it=we live
In a VERY SELFISH SOCIETY=

More apparent to me

No one wants to FOLLOW
Any rules-
INCLUDING the rule makers


We can still
Get it STRAIGHT=if we
All TURN BACK to God
And do it God's way


WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER!


Jesus makes it CLEAR
That NOT EVERYONE who claims
To be his followers
Will live ETERNALLY with him


WORDS alone won't do it
We need ACTIONS and deeds too


“Each one should test
Their OWN ACTIONS=
They can take pride
In themselves alone


Without comparing themselves
To someone else


For each one
Should carry
Their own load” Galatians 6:4


“They claim to know God
But by THEIR ACTIONS
They deny him


They are detestable-
Disobedient-and unfit
For doing anything good” Titus 1:16


God wants us
To do HIS WILL


His will lives WITHIN US
And moves us
To live and love
WITH THE PASSION
Of Jesus


WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER
In Jesus=
We can do it
And SHARE his will
IN OUR ACTIONS


“In the same way
Faith by itself=
If it is
Not accompanied by ACTION
Is dead” James 2:17


WHEN we are in the
PRESENCE of loving-caring people=
Who live selflessly
And love unconditionally


We can get a GLIMPSE
Of heaven on earth


TOGETHER we can BUILD
GOD'S KINGDOM here on earth

Are you like me
Do you find
That many of us
Are missing the point
Of God’s central theme
Of who he is
And what he is
Trying to teach us


And what he is

Is that he loves us
With an ever-lasting---never-ending
Kind of love


And that
He has mercy and compassion for us
Even in our deepest---darkest moments


GOD LOVES YOU


Love is patient
Love is kind


God loves you


The Lord appeared in the past saying,
“I have loved you
With an everlasting love
I have drawn you
With loving kindness” Jeremiah 31:3


Love does not boast
Love is not proud
Love is not rude
Love is not self-seeking


If we are living out our lives
On these qualities
Putting ourselves first
We are MISSING THE POINT
Of life


“A new command I give you:
Love one another
As I have loved you
So you must love one another


By this all men will know
That you are my disciples
If you love one another” John 13:34 & 35


Love is not easily angered
It keeps no record of wrong


Love does not delight in evil
But rejoices in the truth


And the truth
Shall set you free
And the truth is that
GOD LOVES YOU


It always protects
Always trusts
Always hopes
Always perseveres


If we live out our life
By loving him
If we live out our life
By loving others


We know that we won’t be
MISSING THE POINT
Of life


Because as 1 Corinthians 13 tells us

But he promised us

The word hypocrite=
Comes from the GREEK word
Meaning actor pretender


A hypocrite PRETENDS
To be someone
That they ARE NOT


“WHY do you notice
The splinter in
Your brother's eye


But do not perceive
The wooden beam
In your OWN EYE?” Matthew 7:3


Jesus called the Pharisees
And scribes HYPOCRITES=
And in the gospel today=
He calls his own disciples=hypocrites


I guess we can
ALL be
HYPOCRITES at certain times-
Can we not?


But we all have STORIES=
And when we listen
To the STORIES


Of HOW someone got that way=
WE CAN still love them


HYPOCRISY infects us all=
HOW can we prevent hypocrisy
In our OWN LIVES?


STAY in touch
With your shortcomings=
And ACKNOWLEDGE your strengths
And don't lose sight
OF YOUR FAILINGS


BE HONEST with yourself=
Tell the TRUTH
To yourself


“Let God weigh me
In HONEST SCALES=
And he will know
That I am blameless--------” Job 31:6


“An HONEST witness
Tells the truth=
But a false witness

And ABOVE ALL
Be honest with yourself
About YOUR LIFE STORY

SEEK FORGIVENESS

To WHERE=they are
IN THEIR LIVES

BUSY LISTENING=
Busy loving-
We don't have the TIME

So he stood by her

To take the child and Mary---to Egypt
And he did this too


He was
A carpenter by trade
And as his human Father---
Along with Mary
Was responsible for developing the human traits and character
Of Jesus


Our Saint Joseph
A man of righteousness
A man of honor and faith
The Patron Saint of Fathers


Our Saint Joseph
Who stood tall
In the midst
Of it all


Our Saint Joseph
The Father of the Holy Family
Our Saint Joseph
The Father of the Universal Church

Throughout Jesus’ life
He kept an open running dialogue
With God, his Father
There was NEVER a time
That they weren’t connected


We all
Have had earthly fathers
Some good---some bad
Some of us still connected with them
Some not
Some alive---some dead


But ultimately
We ALL come from the same father
The Father of Jesus
The Father of us too
THE GOD OF LOVE


“For you did not receive
A spirit that makes you a slave again
To fear
But you received the Spirit of Son ship
And by him we cry “ABBA FATHER” Romans 8: 15 & 16


The spirit himself
Testifies with our spirit
That we are God’s Children


But what does it mean
To be a Child of God
In today’s world


It means
That though we may disappoint God
That though we may let him down
He is always
Going to continue to love us
Like most earthly parents do
For their children
Or at least---
Try to do


“Because you are Sons
God sent the Spirit of his Son
Into our hearts
The spirit who calls out,
“Abba Father”
You are no longer a slave
But a Son
And since you are a Son ( and Daughter )
God had made you an heir” Galatians 4:6-7


Can you imagine
We are heirs
Heirs to an unconditional love
A love that we can never lose
Heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven
Heirs for eternity---Heirs to God---The King of Love

As we honor our earthly fathers

Honor our Godly Father

IF not thousands of children
GO MISSING!


And their parents
Are a NERVOUS WRECK=
Wondering what happened


Would it SURPRISE you
To know=that when Jesus
Was twelve years old=
He was ONE
Of those missing children?


“After three days
They FOUND HIM
In the temple=
Sitting in
The midst
Of the teachers.......” Luke 2:46


I am NOT a parent=
But I am an UNCLE=
And a couple
Of my nieces=
Were missing when they
WERE YOUNG


I can't tell you
The RELIEF that I felt
When they were FOUND


I can ONLY IMAGINE
The relief=Mary and Joseph
Must have FELT=
When Jesus was FOUND
In the TEMPLE


FINDING your lost child=
Finding someone or something
THAT WAS MISSING


“But if from there
You seek
The LORD your God


You will FIND him
If you seek him


With all your heart

“Praise the Lord

Who fear the Lord=
Who FIND great delight

Today's GOSPEL reminds us
That we cannot CONTROL anyone
Even those
That we love


Jesus was on a MISSION
To do God his
FATHER'S HEAVENLY WILL


When he GOES MISSING=
It is only NATURAL
That he is in
HIS FATHER'S HOUSE=
Talking about
The WORD of God=
Where else
Would he go?


I can only IMAGINE
How GREAT he felt
Talking about the
WORD of God


“Heaven and earth
Will pass away=
But MY WORDS

WHILE we can't control
Those that we love
Even when
They have GONE MISSING


We can TRUST God the FATHER
To take care of OUR LOVED ONES

Are you a friend of God


Before you answer
Let me tell you what James, the Apostle,
And half-brother of Jesus once wrote,


“You adulterous people
Don’t you know that friendship
Towards the world
Is hatred towards God


Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world
Becomes an enemy of God” James 4:4


So
What does it mean to be a friend of the world
As opposed to God


I believe
It is simply
Putting the love of money and materialism
Over the love of God
And the love of your neighbor


Or putting our own selfish desires
Of the flesh
At the expense of God and family


Or calling ALL miracles----“medical” or scientific miracles


Or putting our own selfish addictions
Over the love of God and family


Let’s be clear
Being a friend to God
Isn’t the absence of money
The absence of our sexuality
Or the absence of medical miracles
In our lives


To be a friend to God
Just means to keep our priorities
In their proper place
ALWAYS keeping God and family
ABOVE everything else


Proverbs 17: 17 tells us,
“A friend loves at all times
And a brother is born in adversity”


So we know
That God LOVES US at all times
Even when we have turned our back on him


He is just waiting for you
Waiting for me
To ask for another chance


We KNOW
That we will get another chance
If we just SINCERELY ask


Matthew 7:7-8 says,


“Ask
And it will be given to you
Seek and you will find
Knock and the door will be opened to you


For everyone who asks---receives
He who seeks---finds
And to him who knocks
The door will be opened”


And when we get our second chance
We are to follow the commandments
And LIVE by God’s own spirit


“The fruit of the spirit is love,
Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gentleness, and self-control


Against such things---there is no law” Galatians 5:22-23


My friends
God is our BEST FRIEND
We just have to:


Keep our priorities straight
Follow his commandments
And do our best to live
With the qualities of GOD’S OWN SPIRIT


God is
NOT looking for perfection
Just our best effort


IF we give it
Count yourself


AS A FRIEND OF GOD

Today=in ONE JOHN=
It tells us that
God loves us


And because God
LOVES US=we are
To love one another


An it is the
WORK of a LIFETIME=
IT NEVER ENDS


“In this is love=
NOT that we
Have loved God


But that he loved us
And sent his Son
As expiation
For our sins


Beloved=if God
So loved us=
We must also
LOVE ONE ANOTHER” 1 John 4:10-11


Loving one another=
Or loving each other
Is a LIFETIME OF WORK


It is a pretty
TOUGH ASSIGNMENT
That Jesus is handing down


LOVING OTHERS=with all
Their faults=with all their PROBLEMS
For a lifetime


And it is the
SECOND HALF of
The GREATEST COMMANDMENT
(Mark 12:29-31)


Knowing this person
Lied to me=Knowing that person
Stole from me=Knowing my BEST FRIEND
Betrayed me=
Yet we are CALLED
To love them anyway


“Remember Lord
Your great mercy
And LOVE=
For they are
From of old” Psalm 25:6


“I LOVE those
Who LOVE ME
And those who seek me
Find me” Proverbs 8:17


“........yet my UNFAILING LOVE

Jesus KNOWS ALL
About everyone of us=
Yet he sent his SON

HOW ABOUT

Jesus came for every person

Redeeming them of their sins

Why we we PRAY?
Why do you pray?
Is it just to ASK for
What you PRAY FOR?


I pray for GOD! I pray
For the WORLD=I pray
For ALL OTHERS=and I pray
FOR MYSELF


I want what is BEST
For everyone and the WORLD!


“Your Father knows
WHAT YOU NEED

IF this is true=
It BEGS the question=
WHY should we ask God
For anything?
He ALREADY KNOWS our needs are=
SO why should we bother
TO PRAY?


But it is
NOT that simple


Many of us
APPROACH God=with a list
Of WANTS=and needs=
And wishes


We know God
Doesn't always give us
What we ASK FOR


But if we TRUST GOD-
We can LEARN a
Great deal=about God
And us


By what he actually
DOES give us


We TRUST that God
Will give us
What we NEED TO SURVIVE


“Share with
The Lord's people
Who are IN NEED=
Practice hospitality” Romans 12:13


“The eye
Cannot say to the hand
'I don't NEED you!'


And the head
Cannot say to the feet-
'I don't NEED you'” 1 Corinthians 12:21


“If anyone has
Material possessions=
And sees a brother or sister


IN NEED=
But he has no pity on them
How can the LOVE of God
Be in that person?” 1 John 3:17


The TRUTH of the matter is=
We all NEED each other


And we are all
In need=
We should all BE PRAYING
For one another=
Everyone one of us has NEEDS


So WHY do we PRAY?
Maybe it is an OPPORTUNITY
To let God
Show us
What our needs are


There are probably
As many REASONS
As there are people
In this world


And maybe prayer
ALLOWS US to see
And accept
With gratitude and humility=
Whatever God sees
Fit to GIVE US


We ALL need to pray
For one another IN LOVE=
For what is best
For all of us


DEAR FATHER GOD=
Please know what our NEEDS are=
And allow our prayers
TO BE ANSWERED=
In our best interests

Saint Paul points out
THROUGHOUT his teaching


I HOPE AND PRAY
I am NOT

“When you FAST=
Do not look gloomy
Like the HYPOCRITES” Matthew 6:16


The word HYPOCRITE
Is repeated=OVER 20 times
In the OLD and NEW TESTAMENTS
Of the Bible


Jesus used that word
Many times too=including today=
In his SERMON on the MOUNT
Teaching on FASTING


A HYPOCRITE is one who
Gives a FALSE APPEARANCE
Of virtue


Your fasting=and your FAITH
Are BETWEEN YOU AND GOD


It is a PRIVATE MATTER
For which NO ONE
Is to judge


Jesus warns us
NOT to fast
In a HYPOCRITICAL WAY=
For then fasting
Has lost
ALL of its value


“I do not sit
With the deceitful=
Nor do I
Associate with HYPOCRITES” Psalm 26:4


“And when you pray-
Do not be like
THE HYPOCRITES


For they love to pray
Standing in the synagogues
And on the street corners
To be seen
By others” Matthew 6:5


“Therefore rid yourselves
Of all malice-
And all deceit


HYPOCRISY-envy-and slander
Of every kind” 1 Peter 2:1


Be HONEST=be forthright=
Stand up for the TRUTH-
Stand up FOR GOD
In this world


Fasting is BETWEEN US
And the LORD=
Do not walk around
In a GLOOMY MOOD=
Trying to ATTRACT attention
To yourself


Do it for God=
Do not do it
LOOKING FOR COMPLIMENTS


PRIVATE and personal fasting
Is good=
To HIGHLIGHT our prayers


And it teaches us
SELF-CONTROL=which is one
Of the FRUITS
Of the SPIRIT


“But the fruit
Of the SPIRIT is love=
Joy-peace-forbearance


Kindness-goodness-faithfulness-
Gentleness=and SELF-CONTROL” Galatians 5:22


MY DEAR FRIENDS=your
FAITH and your fasting
Are private matters=
BETWEEN YOU AND GOD=
They are personal


FASTING for GOD
Is always good=but don't do it
To DRAW ATTENTION
To yourself

Do you want to
BE PERFECT? Well there
Is NO such thing
As perfect
In this world?


Just God OUR FATHER
And Jesus Christ=PERFECT
IN LOVE


“So BE PERFECT-
Just as your heavenly FATHER

It would be EASIER
To be perfect=IF it meant
Just following
A set of rules=
Like the TEN COMMANDMENTS


But GOD'S PERFECTION
Is so much BIGER
Than a SET OF RULES


What do we
Really KNOW about God?


We know
GOD IS LOVE=
God is compassion


And he is BIGGER
Than a set of RULES=
Or any BOX
You can put him into


God is perfect=and he
Is full of
GRACE AND PRESENCE


“You will
Keep in PERFECT PEACE
Those whose minds


Are stead fast
Because they trust in you” Isaiah 26:3


“BE PERFECT therefore
As your heavenly Father
IS PERFECT” Matthew 5:48


“Do not conform
To the pattern
Of this world


But be transformed
By the renewing
Of your mind


Then you will be able
To test and approve
What God's will is--------


His good-pleasing
And PERFECT WILL” Romans 12:2


Unfortunately-for us human beings
We are full
OF IMPERFECTIONS


Physically-mentally=spiritually=
In in EVERY which way
All we can do=IS LOVE
As much as we can
Just like God the FATHER=
And Jesus – his SON


We will NEVER BE
Perfect in love either=
But that is God is=IS LOVE=
And we can all love
AS MUCH as we can


God is the COMMUNION
Of persons=the Father-Son-
And HOLY SPIRIT=
He is ALL MERCIFUL=
He is perfect!


“Every good and PERFECT GIFT
Is from above=
Coming down
From the Father


Of heavenly lights
Who does not change
Like the shifting shadows” James 1:17


So KEEP the commandments=
As BEST as you can-
But keep in mind
You will never be perfect


For God is
BIGGER THAN
A SET OF RULES

We all want to do
God's WILL-of course-
But DISCERNING the will
Of God is difficult


We have to WAIT with courage
And with PATIENCE to hear
God's will-and sometimes-
It takes a LONG long time

And we wait in in patience


It SEEMS like we are
ALWAYS waiting for something
In life


WHEN we are young
We want to be older-
We want to drive-
We want to vote-


We want our own FAMILY
We CAN'T WAIT for our own children
To get married-and
To have kids


For retirement-to JOIN AARP
We PRAY to God
For certain things


And sometimes we just
have to WAIT
For GOD'S ANSWERS


“A person's wisdom
YIELDS patience


It is one's glory
To overlook an offense” Proverbs 19:11


“Therefore-
As GOD'S chosen people
Holy and dearly loved


CLOTHE yourself with compassion-
Kindness-humility-and PATIENCE” Colossians 3:12


When we “WAIT”
For the Lord
To move us
IN a certain direction


We REMEMBER
Not to get ahead
Of God's PLANS
For our lives


WAITING on God's WILL
With patience


Waiting for the Lord
To move us in
A SPECIFIC DIRECTION


Waiting on
The WORD OF GOD


“Wait for the Lord
Be STRONG and take heart
And WAIT-for the Lord” Psalm 27:14


“I wait for the Lord
My whole being waits” Psalm 130:5


“Yet the Lord
LONGS to be gracious
To you


Therefore-he will RISE UP
To show you compassion


For the Lord

FOR GOD'S WILL

Jesus had many
DIFFICULT TEACHINGS=
But today we
Might be CELEBRATING
The most difficult one


The HOLY BODY and BLOOD
Of Christ=HIS REAL PRESENCE!


“Whoever EATS my flesh
And DRINKS my blood=
Remains in me
And I in him” John 6:54


Just IMAGINE if you
Were one of the CROWD
Listening to Jesus


If you heard him say=
If you eat his flesh=
And drink his blood
You will have ETERNAL LIFE


THE REAL PRESENCE
OF THE LORD!


I imagine the Lord
Is with me=every moment
OF MY LIFE


Thinking with me-
Talking with me-
And WALKING right beside me=
He LIVES in you and me


But if you were one
Of his DISCIPLES and heard this=
Would you have been
TEMPTED to run away too


The disciples responded=
“This saying is hard=
WHO can accept it?” John 54:60


But Jesus is with us=
JESUS LOVES US=he won't
Let us go
Without a FIGHT=
For our own good


The REAL PRESENCE of the Lord
Does LIVE IN US


But I kind of feel
Like Saint Peter felt=
And I echo his RESPONSE


“Simon Peter answered him'=
'Lord to whom
Shall we go?


You have the words
OF ETERNAL LIFE


We have come to believe
And to KNOW
That you are
The HOLY ONE OF GOD'” John 6:68


HOLY COMMUNION
Is the essential
TEACHING of Christ


And when we RECEIVE
His presence=He LIVES IN US
Forever and ever


Saint Paul seems
To capture it all in 1 CORINTHIANS 10:16


“Is not the cup
Of thanksgiving
For which
We give thanks


A PARTICIPATION
In the blood of Christ?


And is not the bread
That we break
A participation
In the blood of Christ?” 1 Corinthians 10:16


RECEIVING the body and blood
OF CHRIST with other believers
Makes us ONE BODY


We SHARE in the ETERNAL
LIFE of Christ when we receive the
ETERNAL PRESENCE of the Lord!


In Jesus' name and in =the name of the EUCHARIST=the great gift of the FATHER AND THE SON!

I have said “YES”
To God many times
In MY LIFE


And have truly meant it=
But sometimes that YES
Can become-VERY DIFFICULT


But sometimes that yes-
Can border on a NO
Because of the
REQUIREMENTS of that yes=
ARE so DIFFICULT


But I TRY to
KEEP my word to GOD=
I try to DIG
A little deeper
And keep that YES


“Let your “YES
Mean “YES” and
Your “NO mean “NO”” Matthew 5:37


Dig a little DEEPER=
TRY and go BEYOND YOURSELF=
Keep your “YES” to God


I see this in others too-
People give an authentic YES
At first


And overtime=difficulties ARISE
And it is hard
To keep that “YES”


DIG a little deeper
GO BEYOND YOURSELF


“The Spirit searches
All things=even
The DEEP THINGS of God


For who knows
A person's thoughts
Except their own spirit
Within them” 1 Corinthians 2:10-11


“They must keep hold
Of the DEEP TRUTHS
Of the faith
With a clear conscience” 1 Timothy 3:9


YES=our faith
Is a BATTLE tested faith


And a YES TO GOD-
Does indeed mean going on=
GOING FORWARD-
No matter
How difficult it becomes


Our “YES”
Means a willingness
To GO BEYOND OURSELVES


And that is when
OUR generosity and discipleship
Become a GENUINE REALITY


KEEPING IT REAL
Keeping our WORD=
Keeping our YES TO GOD


So many times
I have
Wanted to GIVE UP
But my YES to God
Means something


It means I keep on GOING
When I feel
I can't go any further


And CHRIST picks me up
Puts me on the right path
And we BEGIN
ALL OVER AGAIN


“How can
A young person STAY
ON the path of purity?
By living-
According to your WORD” Psalm 119:9


When you DOUBT=when you
Want to give up=go on
FORWARD WITH CHRIST


GO BEYOND YOURSELF=
Let your “YES” mean YES

And rejoice before God

“A happy heart
Makes the face CHEERFUL
But heartache

Crushes the spirit
Like trying to find happiness
In the wrong things


Things-material possessions
Won't make you happy
Addictions
Won't make you happy
LUST-sexual perversion
Won't make you happy


GOD KNOWS
All of this
So he wants you
To turn to him


God wants you
To be happy
God wants you
To find your joy
IN HIM


“I have told you this
So that my JOY
May be in you
And your joy
May be COMPLETE


MY command is this:
LOVE each other
As I have loved you


Greater love
Has no one than this


That he lay down his life
For his friends” John 15-11-13


God wants you
To be happy


And the ironic thing is this:


You can only find happiness
In giving yourself away
To a cause
GREATER than yourself


Love God and truly love others
And you will find TRUE HAPPINESS

WISDOM AND HUMILITY


I really APPRECIATE
The millions of intelligent
And SKILLED people
In this world


Some people are just
So TALENTED and skilled
I have to ADMIT
I am a little bit envious


“Let NO ONE deceive himself
If anyone among you
Considers himself WISE
In this age


Let him become a FOOL
So as to become wise” 1 Corinthians 3:18


SOME people UNDERSTAND rocket science
And brain surgery=and I say
GOD BLESS THEM
I am NOT that smart


But I have DEVOTED
A lifetime of reading and TRYING
To learn


The WISDOM OF GOD
I don't mind being a FOOL
For God=a fool for Jesus


I hope I have FOUND
A little bit of WISDOM
In TRYING to learn and trying
To LIVE=the word of GOD


And have found some HUMILITY
As I PONDER the profound and
Baffling mysteries of life


Trying to find a little wisdom
Trying to live with some humility=
Trying to become a
LITTLE BIT WISE


“The law o the Lord
Is perfect
Refreshing the soul


The statutes of the LORD
Are trustworthy
MAKING WISE the simple” Psalm 19:7


“EVEN fools are thought WISE
If they keep silent
And discerning=if
If they HOLD their tongues” Proverbs 17:28


“Who is WISE and understanding
Among you?
Let them show it
By their GOOD LIFE


By deeds=done in HUMILITY
That come from WISDOM” James 3:13


I PRAY for wisdom
I pray for HUMILITY
Because they are good things


And they are NECESSARY=
To become AUTHENTIC in
LIVING a life DEVOTED to God


And humility is terribly IMPORTANT
That we NEVER think
We are better


Than we are
Jesus told us that we
ARE to be the LAST


“I SERVED the Lord
With great HUMILITY
And with tears


And in the MIDST
Of severe testing
By the plots
Of my Jewish opponents” Acts 20:19


Dear Lord=help me=HELP US
To never think we are
BETTER than we are


And NEVER ALLOW US to
Become arrogant=for then
We would be real fools


Let us FOLLOW you in
WISDOM and in HUMILITY=all
The days of our lives

LET GO OF THE ANGER

LET GO OF THE ANGER


People can be IRRITATING=
Sometimes on purpose
And this can make
US ANGRY


But I am here
To tell you=
Anger is a WASTED EMOTION=
It serves NO PURPOSE


“But I say to you-
Whoever is ANGRY
With his brother-
Will be liable to judgment........” Matthew 5:22


LETTING GO OF THE ANGER


Anger can be INSIDIOUS=
It is incredibly easy
To find the faults
OF OTHERS


Today Jesus is SPEAKING
About being angry
With those
CLOSE to us


I think it is because=
Those CLOSE to us-
With REAL or perceived slights
Can cause SIMMERING ANGER


PRAY on God
Give it to God
LET IT GO


“And he passed-
In front of Moses proclaiming=
'The Lord-the Lord
The compassionate and gracious God


Slow to ANGER
Abounding in love
And faithfulness


Maintaining love to thousands
And forgiving wickedness-
Rebellion-and sin'” Exodus 34:6


“Great is the LORD'S ANGER
That burns against us-
Because those who have gone
Before us


Have not obeyed
The words of this book” 2 Kings 22:13


The Lord tells us
That we are to FORGIVE

The Lord tells us
We are to LOVE
With great PATIENCE


ONE TOOL that we
Can use in
Dealing with anger
Is to RECITE the
PRAYER OF SAINT FRANCIS


The first line=
“Lord make me
An INSTRUMENT
Of your PEACE”


Forces us to realize
That in order
To BE
An INSTRUMENT of God's PEACE


We have to NURTURE PEACE
Within our own HEARTS


“For his ANGER
Lasts only a moment=
But his favor
Lasts a lifetime” Psalm 30:5


Yes Lord=help us
TO LET GO
Of the ANGER


And to RECITE=and to
Make us
INSTRUMENTS OF PEACE


Help us to CULTIVATE
COMPASSION AND LOVE
In place of anger
And find our place
IN PEACE

EVERY DAY IS AN OPPORTUNITY

EVERY DAY IS AN OPPORTUNITY


Every day is
AN OPPORTUNITY
To follow God


But the day INVOLVES CHOICES=
Choices to follow God=
Or choices to follow
The ways of the WORLD=
Or Satan


“How long
Will you straddle the issue?


If the Lord is God
FOLLOW HIM=
If Baal=follow him” 1 Kings 18:21


Will we follow God=
Or will we follow
The WAYS
Of the world


Rarely-is it=
As clear cut
As choosing Baal=the devil


It is sometimes more
Like following MONEY=
Or following material goods


Choose life=Choose God=
FOLLOW JESUS!


“Therefore as we have OPPORTUNITY-
Let us do good
To all people


Especially to those
Who belong to
The FAMILY of believers” Galatians 6:10


“Be very careful then
How you live--------


Not as unwise-
But as wise
Making the most
OF EVRY OPPORTUNITY


Because the days are evil” Galatians 5:16


“Be wise
In the way
You act toward outsiders


Make the most
OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY” Colossians 4:5


Saint Francis of Assisi
Is the man
MOST BELIEVED=
Who came the CLOSEST
To acting like CHRIST


He steeped away
From honor and prestige=
And he allowed himself
To look INCREDIBLY FOOLISH


But he CHOSE to
Follow God
He chose to follow Jesus


We all must CHOOSE TODAY=
And we must choose
Again=and again=and again


CHOOSING to follow Jesus
Every day is a
NEW OPPORTUNITY=
Every day=is another CHOICE


Choose to follow Christ
It is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY


“Now CHOOSE LIFE-
So that you-
And your children


May live
And that you may LOVE
The Lord your God=
Listen to his voice
And hold fast to him” Deuteronomy 30:19-20


The CHOICES in this life
Are very DIFFICULT=
But every day
Is another opportunity
To CHOOSE to FOLLOW JESUS

GIVING GRATITUDE AND PRAISE
TO GOD


One thing I think
We ALL should do
At all-times
In all circumstances


Is to GIVE THANKS
And PRAISE to God


For I know-
We should all know
That everything in life
COMES from God
Including life itself


“He that offers praise
As a sacrifice
GLORIFIES me” Psalm 50:23


I first became
AWARE of the MIRACLE of life


When I walked away
From a life and death surgery
When I was 22


And LEARNED to live
With a chronic illness
And walked away from serious surgery
After serious surgery


NOTHING in my life
Has impacted my life like God


And giving God that PRAISE
And gratitude has CHANGED my life
For the best


“That my heart may SING
Your praises
And not be silent


Lord my God
I WILL PRAISE you forever” Psalm 30:12


“It is good
To PRAISE the Lord


And make music
To your name
O most high” Psalm 92:1”


“With the tongue
We PRAISE our Lord
And father.......” James 3:9


GIVE God praise and gratitude
In ALL circumstances


EVERY DAY
I give thanks to God
For my life-and-
The BLESSINGS in my life


Even my sufferings-
For NOTHING else is possible
Without LIFE from the Lord our God


I write it down in
My daily journal-my blessings-
And give GRATITUDE to God
(“I thank you Lord-I LOVE YOU LORD”)


“LET the message of Christ
Dwell among you richly-


As you teach and admonish
One another
With the WISDOM through psalms-
Hymns-and songs from the SPIRIT


SINGING to God
With gratitude in your HEARTS” Colossians 3:16


One thing to get into
The HABIT of doing
Is to give thanks for even
The problems in your life


And to thank God
For BLESSINGS you haven't-
Even received yet


For blessings to come
For I am SURE
God will be sending them
To your way


“BLESSED is the nation
Whose God is the Lord


The people he chose
For his inheritance” Psalm 33:12


IF you want to give thanks
And PRAISE to God


Just read the psalms
Or invent your own ways


But ONE THING is for sure


GIVING GOD praise and gratitude
In ALL circumstances


Is what LIFE IS ALL ABOUT

GOD'S LIGHT SHINES THROUGH US!


God tells us
We are the
LIGHT OF THE WORLD


God tells us
To let OUR LIGHTS SHINE


But if you are
Like me=you ask
HOW can I
Be the light
Of the world?


But we can SHINE=
We can still WALK HUMBLY
And we can be GOOD


“You are
THE LIGHT
OF THE WORLD........


Your light must shine
Before others


That they may see
Your good deeds
And GLORIFY your heavenly Father” Matthew 5:14, 16


Jesus tells us
To let our lights
BE ACKNOWLEDGED
And appreciated


You are the ONLY ONE
In this world
That can do things
EXACTLY the way
You can do them


And in your moments
OF GOODNESS
God SHINES his light
Through you/through us


Maybe God will put you
On a lamp stand too


Let your light=
GOD'S LIGHT=shine through you


“Many Lord are asking=
'Who will bring us prosperity?'


Let the light
Of your face
SHINE ON US” Psalm 4:6


“Arise=SHINE
For your light

And the glory
Of the Lord

Do you RELY ON
For the ESSENTIALS
Of your LIFE?


Are you in a
TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP
With the LORD?


I don't have the greatest life
In the world=BUT IT IS GOOD=
I have EVERYTHING
That I need=
Thanks to God and family


I am taken care of=
I have everything
That I need=
I AM BLESSED


“My HELP is from the LORD........” Psalm 121:2


I am SO THANKFUL
For God and FAMILY=and
I am thankful
To be in a TRUSTING
RELATIONSHIP with the Lord
And MY FAMILY


I have learned that IF
I put the will
OF OTHERS
Before my own=
I would have
EVERYTHING that I need


Today's SCRIPTURES remind me
That it is all about
MERCY-submission-and TRUST=
ALL the aspects of discipleship


THANKFUL to be in a
TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP
With the Lord


I don't know
WHAT the day will bring=
BUT I TRUST
That the Lord
Will take care of me=
Will take care of US


“Let him not
Deceive himself
BY TRUSTING
What is worthless=
For he will get nothing
In return” Job 15:31


“They will
Have no fear
Of bad news


Their hearts are steadfast
TRUSTING in the LORD” Psalm 112:7


“STOP TRUSTING
In mere humans-
Who are but a breath
In their nostrils
Why hold them in esteem?” Isaiah 2:22


We can TRUST
In the Lord
That we will
Have the HELP
And protection
That we need


We are in
An OPEN and trusting relationship
With the Lord


We are NOT life strangers=
We are In a
TRUSTING-loving relationship
With the Lord


“But look
You are TRUSTING-
In deceptive words
That are worthless” Jeremiah 7:8


But the LORD'S WORDS
Are never worthless=
He LOOKS OUT for us-
We are in a loving relationship
With someone
Who is EAGER=to PROVIDE for us


The final outcome is
BEYOND OUR CONTROL=
But we
TRUST IN THE LORD
