The road of travel

In this world=

Is a STEEP CLIMB

 

And to travel with the Lord

THROUGH LIFE=is

An EVEN steeper climb

 

But this Advent=let us PREPARE to

Travel with the Lord

And CLIMB THE MOUNTAINS

Of life=

Just as Jesus did

 

“On this MOUNTAIN=

The Lord of Hosts

Will provide=for all people”                                                                                                 Isaiah 25:6

 

Yes life can=ADVENT CAN

Feel like a mountain

 

But we can make

Slow and STEADY PROFRESS

Toward our God=so spend Christmas

With the baby Jesus

 

And celebrate=THE BIRTH OF JESUS!

 

FOCUSING ON THE CLIMB!

To be with=the Lord

 

“How beautiful=ON THE MOUNTAINS

Are the feet=of those

Who bring good news

 

Who proclaim peace-

Who bring good things

Who proclaim salvation

 

Who say to Zion=

‘Your God reigns’”                                                                                                         Isaiah 52:7

 

“Many nations=will come

And say=

 

‘Come let us

Go up to the MOUNTAINS

Of the Lord

 

To the temple

Of God and Jacob’”                                                                                                     Micah 4:2

 

“If I have the gift

Of prophecy=and can fathom

All mysteries=and all knowledge

 

And I have a faith

That can MOVE MOUNTAINS

 

But do not have love

FOCUSING ON THE CLIMB!

To the Lord=at Christmas

Climbing the mountain

To get to the Lord

 

To reach the SUMMIT

We must=pass through CLALLENGES

 

Shopping lists=party planning

Cooking=and all of

What LIFE throws at us

 

But we must stay

POSITIVE on that climb

Of the mountain

To be=with the Lord

 

We NEVER want to be

SEPARATED from God=

We want to be

With the baby Jesus=on December 25^th

 

NEVER forget God cares For you=

And LOVES YOU=very much

 

So STAY FOCUSED

And make that=steady climb

OF THE MOUNTAIN

 

“……..Nor anything else

In all creation=will be able

 

TO SEPARATE US=

From the love of God

That is=In Christ Jesus our Lord”                                                                                   Romans 8:39

 

MAKE THAT CLIMB this Advent

To be with Christ Jesus

      Standards, but if this book ever makes it to print, it will be proof, living

      Proof, that if you continuously surrender your heart, mind, and soul to

      God, that he can make something of your life, even when you can’t.

It is a tough thing

To BUILD a solid life=

It is a tough thing

To rebuild or REMODEL our lives=

It takes a WHOLE LOT OF FAITH

It takes BEING SOLID

In our FAITH

“The rain fell=the floods came

And the winds blew-

And buffeted the house=

But it did not collapse-

It had been set

When we build our LIVES=

It is ESSENTIAL

That we focus

On the FOUNDATION

We have to WITHSTAND

Seasons of bad weather

In our lives

Storms come=it may COME in

The form of a diagnosis=

A divorce=a betrayal=a LOSS

Of a loved one=grief

Or even financial strain

From a global pandemic=or

It may come in the form

Of loneliness or depression

We need to BUILD SOLID=

We need to keep moving forward

In our FAITH

BUILDING ON A SOLID FOUNDATION!

“So this is what

The Sovereign Lord says=

'See I lay a stone

In Zion-a tested zone

A precious cornerstone

For a SURE FOUNDATION

The one who relies on it

Will never be stricken

With panic'”                                                                                                                 Isaiah 28:16

“For no one can lay

ANY FOUNDATION=

Other than the one already laid

Which is Jesus Christ”                                                                                               1 Corinthians 3:11

Believing in God

Believing in Jesus=

IF our FOUNDATION is solid=

Our foundation secure

We will ENDURE

We may need some repairs

Along the way=

We may need to

Make some ADJUSTMENTS

But if we have BUILT

In solid faith=

What lies beneath us

Can support and PROTECT US

No matter what comes

“Nevertheless=GOD'S SOLID FOUNDATION

Stands firm-

Sealed with this inscription=

'The Lord know those

Who are his'=and

'Everyone who confesses

The name of the Lord-

Must turn away from wickedness'”                                                                              2 Timothy:2:19

In this world

Is a BIG INVESTMENT

We need to BUILD

A life on God and Jesus

And ROCK solid people

We need to build

Our lives on rock=

And that ROCK IS OUR FAITH

Saint Andrew

 

Before Jesus

There was John

Andrew was

A disciple of John’s

 

One day

Jesus was walking

Beside the Sea of Galilee

He saw two brothers

Who were fishermen

And he said to them

“Come follow me

And I will make you fishers of men”

 

They immediately

Laid down their poles

And decided

To follow this mysterious man

 

Later on

Andrew was the one

Who found

The little boy

With the two fish

And the 5 barley loafs

And immediately

A miracle was done

 

After Jesus’ Resurrection

We don’t know where

But we know

Andrew preached God’s word

Wherever he could

Until he

Died a martyr’s death

 

Today there

Are many churches

Named in his honor

And he is

The patron Saint

Of Scotland and Russia

 

Tradition states

That if you say a certain prayer

Fifteen times between today and Christmas  

A miracle

May be possible

Today, November 30^th, is his feast day

And I was baptized

At Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church

February 6^th 1955, in Pittsburgh Pa.

My Mother and Father’s first wedding anniversary

St. Theresa, The Little Flower

And Mother Theresa too

The people actually doing this

Are way way too few

 

God taught us

To live with love

And we’ve already been given

All of the answers

IT IS A FAMILY AFFAIR

I come from the

MOST BEAUTIFUL of families

With sit down dinners=and

WHERE our religion and LOVE

Were open to all=

We always had

An OPEN DOOR policy

In our home

IT IS A FAMILY AFFAIR!=

God-Jesus-and the HOLY SPIRIT

Are three in one=

A virtual family=

THE FAMILY OF GOD!

“Jesus rejoiced=

In the Holy Spirit=and said=

'I give you praise-Father=

Lord of heaven and earth

For although you

Have hidden these things

From the

Wise and the learned

You have REVEALED them

To the childlike=

Yes=FATHER

Such has been-

Your gracious will'”                                                                                                Luke 10:21

A good family=A HEALTHY FAMILY

Is one of the

BEST ROLE MODELS

To teach us

ABOUT the love of God 

That is WHERE

My love of God and Jesus

Come from=

The ROOT of my BEAUTIFUL FAMILY=

My beautiful extended family

And the BEAUTIFUL FAMILIES

Of my friends

The above is a relatively

OBSCURE MOMENT

In Luke's Gospel

And it gives us a GLIMPSE

Into the “FAMILY LIFE”

Of the Trinity

IT IS A FAMILY AFFAIR=

We are ALL a part

Of GOD'S FAMILY=

That is where

All TRUE LIFE originates

“God sets the lonely

IN FAMILIES

He leads out

The prisoners

With singing

But the rebellious

Live in a sun-scorched land”                                                                                     Psalm 68:6

“He must manage

HIS OWN FAMILY WELL

And see that his children

Obey him=

And he must do so=

In a manner

Worthy of full respect”                                                                                         1 Timothy 3:4

God and JESUS and love=

Are A FAMILY AFFAIR=

Maybe that is WHY

We have such a BREAK DOWN of families

In today's world

LOVE by definition is fruitful=

BURSTING FORTH in newness of life-

Multiplying and reflecting

Throughout creation

THIS ADVENT=

If you haven't already

Done so

REDEDICATE yourself to God and FAMILY=

And fill yourself

With a sense of WONDER

For GOD'S FAMILY=

As well as you can

ADVENT=

It is A FAMILY AFFAIR

By LOOKING=at this world

Everyone FIGHTING with each other

 

But we NEED to

SUPPORT each other=we need

TO MAKE PEACE

With each other

We need each other=TO SURVIVE

No one=in this world

Can do it alone

I wouldn’t have SURVIVED

In this world alone=

Without the support of God=

“Share with the Lord’s people

WHO ARE IN NEED-

Isaiah tells us today

To definitely DREAM=but

That we cannot manage our way

On our own

 

He tells us

WE NEED EACH OTHER

To CLIMB the mountains

Of our life

 

But we can do it

Because it is GOD’S MOUNTAIN

Of life=God will sustain us

On our climb

 

Nation needs nation=

And people need people

MAKE PEACE=

WE NEED EACH OTHER!

To survive

 

We can’t make it

On our own=

WE NEED God=and

We need one another

 

But what is GREAT=is

That God the Holy Father

KNOWS all of our needs

 

“The Lord=will

Guide you always

 

He will SATISFY YOUR NEEDS

In a sun-scorched land      

And will strengthen your frame”                                                                                            Isaiah 58:11

 

“And my God=will meet

ALL YOUR NEEDS=

According to the riches

Of his glory=in Christ Jesus”                                                                                                  Philippians 4:19

 

TOGETER=we can make it

Because it is=GOD’S WAY

We can climb

These mountains of life

With each other!

 

We CAN find the way=TO PEACE

 

Let us GO to the Lord=

CLIMBING our mountains together

And MAKING PEACE=with one another!

WHO SUPPLIES=all of our needs!

With our EYES FIXED

ON YOU!=Be vigilant!

For the coming of the Lord

It is TIME to

Take a step back=for a moment

And REFOCUS

 

It is time to REFOCUS

And PREPARE for the Lord

What is=of the GREATEST IMPORTANCE

WITH OUR EYES=FIXED ON YOU!

 

“FIX these words of mine

God must be FIRST=in our lives

Our number ONE priority

 

So take a deep breath

And KEEP YOUR EYES

Focused on God=for he is ETERNAL

 

When we RELAX=and OPEN our eyes

To God=we become “AWAKE”

In the Lord

And will see your face

 

WHEN I AWAKE

Goodbyes are difficult

Goodbyes always

Goodbyes occur

For many reasons

A move, a death, a broken relationship

 

But as Jesus

Was leaving this world

Jesus said

I leave my peace

With you

 

It is the kind of peace

That is

Not the peace from this world

But a peace

In spite of this world

 

A peace that says

In every situation

I am with you

To trust God

And know

God will bring you safely home

 

God’s peace

Is a victory

Over the darkness of sin

In this world

 

It is a victory over

The coldness, the indifference, the selfishness,

The ingratitude, the luke warmness

And rejection of this world

 

So please know

IT IS NEAR!

 

IT IS NEAR!

 

Jesus was so SENSITIVE

To the world around him=

He saw a HURTING WORLD

Back then=and he sees one TODAY

 

A HURTING world=right now

I am SURE=he wants to

CHANGE THE WORLD

As much today=as he did some

2,000 years ago

 

For that reason

I feel God’s kingdom

Is near=IT IS NEAR!

 

His KINGDOM

Is the ONE CONSTANT

In this world=and his words

LAST FOREVER

 

“Heaven and earth

Will pass away=but my WORDS

Will last forever”                                                                                                                           Luke 21:33

 

Sensitive God=sensitive Jesus

To this world

 

In the GOSPEL today=

He shows his appreciation=and knowledge

For all of us

 

He knows that people

Are like TREES=and at times appear dead=

But they will BLOSSOM AGAIN

 

God’s kingdom is NEAR=

It lives in our HEARTS

It is =God is CLOSE

He LIVES in all of us

 

“The Lord is CLOSE

To the brokenhearted=

He saves those-

Who are crushed in spirit”                                                                                                     Psalm 34:18

 

“He tends his flock-

Like a shepherd=He gathers the lambs

In his arms

 

And carries them

CLOSE to his heart=

He gently leads those

That have young”                                                                                                    Isaiah 40:11

 

Jesus knows that IF

We are PATIENT with people=

Like trees=we will BLOOM again

 

And Jesus tells us

“THE KINGDOM OF GOD”

Is near

 

He knows that the Kingdom of God

Is NEAR=close

Living in our hearts

 

This is the ONE CONSTANT

Of/and in our lives=GOD’S KINGDOM

Jesus’ love is for us

It is BLOSSOM TIME

 

God’s kingdom can blossom

EVEN in difficult times

Times of turmoil-loss-and pain

It will GROW AGAIN

So RECOGNIZE

God and Jesus’ words

Will grow in you

 

“I planted the seed-

Apollos watered it=

But God has been

MAKING IT GROW”                                                                                                   1 Corinthians 3:6

 

“BUT GROW=in the grace

And knowledge of

Our Lord and Savior=Jesus Christ”                                                                               2 Peter 3:18

 

God=Jesus=is SENSITIVE

To your needs=in this world

 

IT IS NEAR!=and lives

May the PRESENCE of God

THAT PERSONAL TOUCH

Two thousand years ago

It wasn't quite so easy

To keep in touch with people

No telephone-no face book-

No instagram-e-mail-or even twitter

PERSONAL TOUCH ONLY

“For God did not give us

A spirit of cowardice

But rather of power

And love-and self-control”                                                  2 Timothy 1:7

Don't get me wrong=I use

Face book and e-mails daily

But I have never sent a text 

In my life-NOT even one

I still like to give people 

A HUG-

HAND WRITE notes and cards

And send birthday cards

THAT PERSONAL TOUCH

“She said to herself,

'If I only

TOUCH his cloak

I will be HEALED'”

“Jesus said to her,

'Take heart daughter,'

He said,

'Your FAITH has healed you'

And the woman was healed

At that moment”                                                                Matthew 9:21-22

In Jesus' time

ALL they had

Was personal talk-

And personal touch

Research-suggests-

That people's hearts and minds

ARE more likely to be changed

By PERSONAL CONTACT

And-by my own experience-

I LOVE the one-on-one contact

The one-on-one approach

The one-on-one phone call-

the one-on-one e-mails

And one-on-one personal talk/touch

Through HUGS-notes-cards-etc., 

Jesus KNEW-

Jesus understood that this is

The BEST form of contact

TOUCH ME-HEAL ME

Jesus did MOST oh HIS HEALING

One-on one 

“He sent out

HIS WORD

And healed them

He rescued them

From the grave”                                                         Psalm 107:20

Jesus sent out the twelve

“HEAL the sick

Raise the dead

Cleanse those

Who have leprosy

FREELY you have received

Freely give”                                                              Matthew 10:8

And today-we are his apostles

We are the 12

I WISH I could sit down

And tell every single person in this world

HOW MUCH God loves us/LOVES THEM

How much God loves

EACH and every one of us-

INDIVIDUALLY

GOD'S POWER of love

God's power to CHANGE the world

Comes from that personal touch

That personal contact

May you FEEL it today

If not from me

From someone that you LOVE & respect

From someone with whom you have

THAT PERSONAL TOUCH

“Thank You Lord”

 

 

Thank you Lord for this life you’ve given

Thank you Lord for the hope that has arisen

Thank you Lord for all that we do

Thank you Lord for the opportunity to start anew

 

You are the one

You are the main reason

You are the one

That has been constant through every season

You are the one

Who can inspire us on to new goals

You are the one

That makes us complete and whole

 

Thank you Lord for this life we lead

Thank you Lord for planting the seeds

Thank you Lord for helping us to grow

Thank you Lord for helping us to know

When to reach out and try for more

When to sit back

And let you make us soar

Thank you Lord

 

You are the one

Who makes it all possible

Who helps us to know our role

Who leads us back from defeat

“My Father”

 

 

My Father was kind

My Father was loving

But more than that

He was a kid himself

He knew how to have fun

 

He loved his sports

We talked about it much

I’ll always have the memories

Of Forbes Field and the Pittsburgh Pirates

The street car and the White Tower

My Father always had time for me

 

My Father was kind

My Father was loving

But more than that

He was a kid himself

He knew how to have fun

 

My Father loved bowling on Friday nigh

My Father liked a beer

My Father

Loved his Family and friends

Among others

We’ll never forget Walter and Ray

 

My Father was kind

And when the end came

The last 2 years

He bore it

With the patience of a Saint

 

He was kind

He was loving

He had the faith of a child

IF I make it

That far=I will be

67 years young in January

 

So much GRATITUDE

For all the BLESSINGS=

I have received-in this world

 

Do you know what

A BLESSING IS?=it is defined

As = “God’s favor and protection”

 

I have been with

EXTRA CHANCES at life=

I have been blessed

With a GREAT FAMILY=

And a multitude=of good friends

 

SO MUCH GRATITUDE

For all the blessings

In my life=

From God and from

ALL OF YOU

I am so very THANKFUL=for it all!

 

“Therefore since=we are receiving

A kingdom=

 

That cannot be shaken=

Let us be THANKFUL

And so worship God

 

Accepting reverence=and awe

For God=

‘God is a consuming fire’”                                                                                              Hebrews 12:28

 

When I sit down

To THANKSGIVING DINNER

In a couple of days

 

I will give MY THANKS

To God=for all the BLESSINGS

I have received=especially this life

 

And I will give my thanks

For all of you=

For we are blessed WITH PEOPLE

Not things-we are really blessed

 

I am blessed with

“GOD’S FAVOR AND PROTECTION”

And the love he gives=and the love

ALL of you=that you have BESTOWED ON ME

 

I have found and

GIVEN love= in this world

“It always PROTECTS=always trusts=

Always hopes=always perseveres

Love never fails”                                                                                                                 1 Corinthians 13:7

 

So a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING

To all of you=

I feel much GRATITUDE

 

For this ongoing life

And I feel much gratitude

For all of you

For all of the BLESSINGS

 

“BLESSED is the one

WHO PERSEVERES=under trial

 

Because having stood the test

That person=will receive the crown

Of life

 

That the Lord has promised

To those=who LOVE HIM”                                                                                                    James 1:12

 

THANKING GOD=and thankful for you

Be returned to you

 

God puts us here=

In my life---both weekly and daily.

 

 

Also for the Tuesday night group from when I lived in Palm Beach Gardens and we met

GOD'S WAY

 

“God’s Way”

 

God’s way

Is not our way

We need to be reminded

Of this

Over and over again

 

In the first chapter

Of St. Luke’s Gospel

We see God in action

Two women were involved

 

One—Elizabeth

Who was to give birth

To John the Baptist

And one—Mary

Was to give birth

To our Lord

And Savior Jesus Christ

 

And in the book of Kings

We hear the story

Of Elijah

 

Elijah is tired of living

And scared of dying

And looking for God

 

Elijah looks for God

In the wind

But he is not there

 

Elijah looks for God

In an earthquake

But he is not there

 

Elijah looks for God

In a fire

But alas and again—he is not there

 

He finds God

In a gentle breeze

 

Maybe we too

Are looking for

A miraculous sign

 

And maybe –just maybe

We have already

Seen the sign

 

The love of our family and friends

The love of our Church

The fact

That we are all

Just there for one another

 

Elijah found God

In the gentle breeze

I found God

In all of you

 

That is God’s way
