A POEM FOR PEACE

With the attack-on the Ukraine-

By the RUSSIAN army=it

Makes me want

To PRAY FOR PEACE

More than ever=in this world

Peace for our FAMILIES=

Peace for our different religions

And peace for

ALL the different countries

In this world

“And Joseph answered Pharaoh saying

‘It is not in me=

God shall give Pharaoh

An answer of PEACE’” Genesis 41:16

“I will hear

What God the Lord will speak=

For he will speak PEACE

To his people-

And to his saints

But let them not-

Turn again to folly” Psalm 85:8

I am NOT

Much of a fighter

EXCEPT when

I am backed into

A corner

I will fight

WHEN I have to=sometimes

That is WHAT

You have to do

To FIND THE PEACE

You desperately want

I applaud the UKRAINIAN PEOPLE

For standing up for themselves

To try and FIND PEACE!

“If the home

Is deserving=LET YOUR PEACE

Rest on it

If it is not

Let YOUR PEACE

Return to you” Matthew 10:13

“To all in Rome

Who are loved=by God

And called=to be

His holy people

Grace and PEACE

To you from God

Our Father=and from

The Lord Jesus Christ” Romans 1:7

And so again today

I pray for PEACE=

AND UNITY=in this world

Peace in FAMILIES

Peace between religions

AND PEACE

Among all nations=

I pray=for these things

EVERY DAY

And ONE WORLD=UNITED

Under the love of God

And unity and peace

For all of us

“How good and pleasant

It is

When God’s people

Live together=IN UNITY” Psalm 133:1

“……..until we all reach

UNITY in the faith

And in the knowledge

Of the Son of God

And become mature

Attaining to the whole measure

Of the fullness of Christ” Ephesians 4:13

Dear Lord=

We OFFER you our love

And our WHOLE being

To BRING PEACE=to

The Ukrainian people

And our world

Please bring PEACE AND UNITY=

To our families==our religions

And UNITY

To ALL the nations of the world

Under the LOVE OF GOD

SHARE THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD

People saw Jesus RESTORE

A man's hearing and speech

And couldn't stop

Talking about it

They continued to talk ANYWAY=

Just as we would

If we saw MIRACLES

In today's world

Regardless=we should CONTINUE

To talk about

THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD

The good news of Jesus=and

SPREAD and SHARE the good news

Of God

“Then he LOOKED up to heaven

And groaned=and said to

The deaf man='Ephphatha!'=that is

'BE OPENED'” Mark 7:34

I had my MIRACLE OF LIFE=

Given to me over 40 years

Ago now=and I am

As APPECIATIVE now

As I have ever been

Miracles are SIGNS=

Of GOD'S LOVE for us

And we should NEVER lose sight

That we are living

The MIRACLE of LIFE & LOVE

Make the most of it=

You only get ONE CHANCE=tell people

That you LOVE them=every chance

That you get

“You are the God

Who PERFORMS MIRACLES

You display your power

Among the peoples” Psalm 77:14

“WHERE did this man

Get these things?'-they asked=

'What's this WISDOM

That has been given him?

What are these

REMARKABLE MIRACLES

He is performing?'” Mark 6:2

“So again I ask=

Does God

Give you his SPIRIT

And work MIRACLES among you

By the works

Of the law

Or by BELIEVING

What you have heard?” Galatians 3:5

It is now TIME

To SHARE the good news

Of the LORD

Tell of him=his healings=

His MIRACLES=and all of

His teachings

The time to stay quiet

ENDED with the RESURRECTION

As CHRISTIANS=we are CALLED

To SHARE the good news

With all=we CAN do it

With whatever ways go BEST

With our lives

For me=it is cards=it is POEMS=

It is LOVE and prayers=however we do it

We must

SHARE THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD

“The generous

Will themselves BE BLESSED

For they SHARE their food

With the poor” Proverbs 22:9

“And our HOPE for you

Is firm

Because we know

That just as you SHARE

In our sufferings

So also

You SHARE in our COMFORT” 2 Corinthians 1:7

We live

But we also live

In a world

At the birth of a child

Of a loved one

I know because

I have been touched

By God

And by family and friends

So what changes us

From people

Of sin, selfishness, and rejection

To people of

Kindness and goodness

Beyond our own human understanding

I suggest

It is

The touch of God

OUR VERY LIVES

OUR VERY LIVES=

(Are a GIFT from God)

Do you have

LOTS of stuff? I do

And I haven’t had

The chance

To reorganize recently

Plus my ORGANIZING FRIEND

Has been away

For the past nine months

But the ONE thing I know

Is that the

MOST IMPORTANT thing

That we have=is our

VERY LIFE

And that our lives=

As well as everything else

Are GIFTS FROM GOD!

“You are lacking

In ONE THING

Go-sell what you have

And GIVE to the poor

And you

Will have treasures in heaven

Then come=FOLLOW ME” Mark 10:21

Everything that we have

Is a GIFT FROM GOD=starting with

OUR VERY LIVES

We strive for

A better relationship

With Christ

But sometimes our stuff

Can GET in our way

We must choose how

We are going to SPEND

Our time=our money

And our talent

Hopefully we will

KEEP God number one

“Saul and Jonathan

Were lovely and pleasant

IN THEIR LIVES

And in their death

They were not divided

They were swifter

Than eagles

They were stronger=than lions” 2 Samuel 1:23

“Men that

Have hazarded their LIVES

In the name=of our Lord Jesus Christ” Acts 15:26

Yes=OUR VERY LIVES

Are GIFTS FROM GOD=it is

Easy to

Take them for granted

We can use our things

For ourselves

To BUILD MATERIAL LIVES

Instead of using them

To LOVE AND SERVE

God and others

The DESIRE to serve God

And serve others=

Is the one thing=that matters

In making the BEST USE

Of our lives

“Perceive the love of God

Because he laid down

HIS LIFE for us

And therefore=we lay down

OUR LIVES=for our brothers” 1 John 3:16

NEVER FORGET

That your life is

A GIFT FROM GOD

Never forget to give

OUR VERY LIVES

Back to God=to USE

For the sake

Of our brothers and sisters

LET GOD TAKE THE LEAD

Have you ever come

To the end one the one year-

And the beginning of a new?

Or decided you are

Going to be a NEW AND IMPROVED

Version of yourself

In some area of your life

It isn't easy to see it through

It isn't easy to be an all new and improved

Version of ourself

That's WHEN we need God

To help us-and LEAD the way

And he won't let us down

Let God TAKE THE LEAD

In your life and follow closely

“I will sprinkle CLEAN WATER

Upon you to cleanse you........

And PLACE a new spirit within you

Taking from your bodies

Your stony hearts

And giving you NATURAL HEARTS” Ezekiel 36:25-26

“CREATE in me a PURE heart-

O God

And RENEW a steadfast spirit

When I was younger and healthier

And could play sports

I always tried to improve

These days

I cannot do that

But I try EVERY DAY

To renew my spirit=to get CLOSER

To God

To try and be the best person

That I can be

But I have to tell you

I CANNOT do it alone

I let God=I let Jesus=

TAKE the lead-and I follow

As close as humanly possible

(at least I try to)

Why not

Let God take the lead

In your life too?

Let him CARRY THE BURDENS

Of your life

“EVEN to your old age

And gray hairs

I am he

Who will SUSTAIN YOU

I have made you

I will carry you

I will sustain you

And I will RESCUE YOU” Isaiah 46:4

“CARRY each others burdens

And in this way

You will FULFILL the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2

YES let God take the lead-

HELP HIM help others

Carry their burdens

If you are strong

And instead of trying to FIX yourself up

Maybe it is a good time

To let God fix you too

To let God and Jesus

FIX your defective parts

For I know=as much as I/we don't want to admit it

We ALL have them

Let us go in

For an EXTREME MAKEOVER by God

And let him fix us up

I know with me

He will have his hands full

How about with you?

Let us

LET GOD TAKE THE LEAD

Dear Lord=transform me-transform us

Into whatever you want us to be

“Do NOT conform

To the pattern of this world

But be TRANSFORMED

By the RENEWING of your mind

Then you will be able to test

And approve what God's will is

-HIS good-pleasing-and PERFECT WILL” Romans 12:2

I think REAL CHANGE

REQUIRES total effort and TOTAL SURRENDER

To God

We acknowledge

We can't improve TOTALLY

On our own

That it takes you Dear God

And Jesus our Lord

INCREASING GRATITUDE!

As I get older=One

Thing I feel every day

Is an INCREAING GRATITUDE

For another day of life

I have been BLESSED

With many brothers and sisters

In Christ=through the years

I try to strive=to impress

What a GIFT LIFE IS

And what a treasure=it is

“They shall BEAR FRUIT

Even in old age=

Vigorous and sturdy

Shall they be……..” Psalm 92:15

I guess I am

Not that old=67

But that is

A far cry=from 22

When I was GIVEN UP for death

I don’t know

HOW FAR I will make it=

But I will ALWAYS

Feel an INCREASING GRATITUDE

To the Holy Father

For each and every day of life

“The days of our years

Are three score years

And ten (70)

And if

By reason of STENGTH

They are four score years (80)……..” Psalm 90:10

The most ESSENTIAL PART

Of life

Is feeling INCREASING GRATITUDE

For each day

As we get older

And being appreciative

For all of the BLESSINGS

In this life=INCREASING GRATITUDE!

“Then earth

Shall yield her INCREASE

And God=our own God

Shall bless us” Psalm 67:6

“And the apostles

Said to the Lord

‘INCREASE OUR FAITH’” Luke 17:5

“And dear Lord

INCREASE YOU in us

And abound in love=in us

And toward all men

Even as you

INEASE IN US” 1 Thessalonians 3:12

As we GET OLDER

And feel more physical limitations

And diminishments=please continue

TO GROW IN US

Please continue to bless us

With an INCREASING GRATITUDE!

Toward BEING THANKFUL

For each and every NEW DAY of new life

“Enter into his gates

With thanksgiving

And into his courts

With praise=

BE THANKFUL for him

And bless his name” Psalm 100:4

Dear Lord=we are AWARE

For this day you give us=

HELP us to be grateful

WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU

ONLY MAKES YOU STRONGER

I am sure

You have heard the saying:

“What doesn't kill you-

ONLY MAKES YOU STRONGER”

I am LIVING PROOF

That that saying is true

Because when I was

A completely broken human being

And on the flat of my back

God picked me up

SHOWED me which way to go

And my life has become

LIVING PROOF-for God

That you can get back up

That you CAN keep moving forward

And that you can USE

Your past suffering

As a motivating force for you

“........'he Lord said to Moses

'Make a saraph

And mount it on a pole

And whoever looks at it

After being bitten-WILL LIVE” Numbers 21:8

So whatever battles you are fighting

I assure you

You can beat them

Or at least SURVIVE them

With God's HELP

USE your past sufferings

As a motivating force

“Forget the former things

Do NOT dwell on the past” Isaiah 43:18

For past troubles

Will be forgotten

And hidden from my eyes” Isaiah 65:16

The Israelites in today's reading

Would be WISE

To REMEMBER that saying:

“Whatever doesn't kill you

Makes you stronger”

They hate the food

They have been given

They have been bitten

By snakes

And they cry out

To God

Moses wraps a snake

Around the pole

And whoever looks at it-LIVES

We NEED to use our past-

Whatever we faced

As a motivating force

To keep moving toward God

Keep looking at

Whatever is in your past

Whatever you need

To keep moving forward

Whatever that past obstacle is

DRAW a picture in your mind

BE POSITIVE

You can OVERCOME

Your past obstacles and sufferings

With God

Our God

Is a God of great mercy

And grace

The Israelites did it

I walked away

From almost losing my life-

Losing my job-

Losing an important relationship

To LIVE every day

With a chronic illness and pain

MOVE to the future

With HOPE

Move to the future

With God's grace and mercy

“Now this is our boast

Our conscience TESTIFIES

That we have conducted ourselves

In the world

And especially

In our relationship

With you

With integrity and godly sincerity

We have done so

Relying not on worldly wisdom

But on GOD'S GRACE” 2 Corinthians 1:12

I OWED GOD ONE!

February 26^th

“I OWED GOD ONE”

Many years ago, in a hospitalization that began on my 22^nd birthday, I had gangrene, peritonitis,

Blood poisoning, and a host of other things. I had emergency surgery and was given zero%

Chance to live. I had the last rights and went unconscious. Two weeks later I woke up alive.

What I didn’t know was that my Uncle John was outside punching the walls and praying. What

I didn’t know was that my Dad was praying, “He’s just a young man. He has his whole life in front

Of him. I wish God would take me.”

My Grandfather, Carl Wallman, who was 72 years old and in fair health was praying the same

Words as my Father. The day that I left St. John’s Hospital and went to my Aunt’s to recuperate,

My Grandfather had a stroke and went into the same hospital. My Grandfather died February 26^th, 1977.

I have lived my whole life with a chronic illness and in severe chronic pain. I always wanted to meet a

Woman and have my own family. It never did really happen for me. My health, and my finances do

To health, were a factor.

Many years later, in a different city, I met a woman who I was immediately attracted to. I will call her

Jennifer for the purposes of this story.

Jennifer was a petite woman of not more than 100 pounds. Jennifer took an immediate dislike to me-

Though I couldn’t imagine why. I knew I didn’t say or do anything. Jennifer had the 3 most beautiful

Girls you could ever imagine--about 8, 10, and 14 years old. They were a beautiful family of Hispanic

Origin. It turned out there was some sexual abuse in the family.

After years of trying, if not making a friend, I was at least accepted by Jennifer and got a card signed by

Jennifer and her 3 girls that read:

“WE will keep in touch with you and remember you are in our thoughts and hearts as well as God’s.”

While it will never be the kind of love I envisioned as a young man, I will always love this woman

And her 3 girls with a “A Spiritual Kind Of Love.”

Jennifer’s birthday was February 26^th. I guess you could say “I Owed God One.”

How do you FEEL

About God?

HE IS MY EVERYTHING?

The CENTER=of my life?

I have SO MUCH

To be thankful for=

God has used

FAMILY AND FRIENDS=to help me

ALONG on my journey

Through life=and I say

Thank you to God

Every day=

PRAISING THE LORD ALWAYS!

I like to write

THANK YOU CARDS=for people

That have HELPED ME=

And I try to help others

WHEN=and if I can

God understands us-

He hears=ALL of our problems

He has KEPT me alive

And has helped me

With my health

He has helped me

THROUGH others=with

My financial problems

And with RELATIONSHIPS

With my family and friends

Thanking God always-

PRAISING THE LORD ALWAYS!

I wish I was BETTER

At praising God=

For all the GIFTS=I have received

For all the BLESSINGS FELT

And all the KINDNESSES

I have seen=in my life

PRAISING THE LORD ALWAYS!

I will sing=his praises

ALL the days=of my life

“PRAISE THE LORD!=

For it is good

To sing HIS PRAISES

For it is pleasant=and fitting

To SING HIS PRAISES” Psalm 147:1

BE LIKE the one leper=(out of ten)

That returned to the Lord

To say “THANK YOU”

It is EASY

To take things for granted=

It is easy=to think

That we did it

ALL by ourselves

But it is the LORD

And the HELP we receive

FROM OTHERS=along the way

That keep us going

Praise the Lord=at all times

The things we value

In this world

Is NOTHING like what God values

WE value material success-outer beauty-

Accomplishments-health strength

GOD VALUES humility-truth-

Justice-INNER BEAUTY-love-kindness-

Forgiveness-etc., etc., etc.,

The INTANGIBLE things of this world-

While we value the tangible things

YES-in the heart of our weakness-

In the heart of our brokenness-

There LIVES

The PRESENCE of God

Our KING-Jesus-

Enjoyed NO earthly success

But he was king-

Of the intangibles

EVEN at the height

Of his earthly ministry

He rode into town

On a donkey

And died a criminal's death

And in the HEART of his weakness

The heart of DARKNESS

There was the RESURRECTION

There was the PRESENCE

Of God

And when the darkness

And the weakness

Take us DOWN in this world

WE RISE with him

He picks us back up

He restores us

“........Those who have done

What is GOOD

Will rise to LIVE

And those who have done

What is evil

Will rise to be condemned” John 5:29

Yes-the last WILL be first

And IN the heart of weakness

LOVING US=THROUGH OUR FAULTS!

LOVING US=THROUGH OUR FAULTS

GOD KNOWS=I have

A lot of sins=and

That I have=made mistakes

WE all have!

But despite it all=

God does LOVE US=

God CONTINUES=to love us

Every single day

“BLESS the Lord-

O my souls=

And forget not=all the benefits” Psalm 103:2

Psalm 103=is a

Beautiful psalm=it is CONSOLING

And beautiful-

It talks about PRAISING God

The God of us all

It tells us

“The Lord-

Is KIND AND MERCIFUL”

I truly believe that

Despite all that is

GOING ON= in the world today

The Lord loves us=despite everything

Despite the fact the fact

That many of us=in this world

Have turned our back

On him

IF we really BELIEVED

God loves us

If we really believed

The Lord

Was KIND AND MERCIFUL

We would never

HESITATE to approach him

We would never

DOUBT God’s love for us

“He PARDONS

All your iniquities=he HEALS

All your ills” Psalm 103:3

GOD LOVES US!

Without any reservations

We should=feel ENCOURAGED

To ask God

For any HEALINGS

We need-in our life

Physical healings

Spiritual healings=healings

OF ANY KIND

God does=LOVE US ALL!

We should praise him up to

Our very LAST BREATH!

God loves us all

Despite our faults=The Lord

Is kind and merciful!

“It is a sin

To despise one’s neighbor=

But blessed is the one

WHO IS KIND=to the needy” Proverbs 14:21

“LOVE is patient=love is KIND

It does not envy-

It does not boast=it is not proud” 1 Corinthians 13:4

“And the Lord’s servant

Must not be quarrelsome=

But must be

KIND TO EVERYONE

Able to teach-not resentful” 2 Timothy 2:24

How much does

God love us?=as far as

It is=from the East

To the West

“As far as the EAST

Is from the WEST

So far=has he put

His transgressions

From us” Psalm 103:12

GOD LOVES US ALL!

He has =infinite BLESSINGS

For us=despite our faults

Even think of OURSELVES

As gods

“You are a man

And NOT a god=

However=you may

Think yourself LIKE a god............” Ezekiel 28:2

Like Adam and Eve

Some of us think

We KNOW BETTER

Than God

We WANT to be our

OWN gods=SUBSTITUTING

Ourselves for him

So many FALSE gods=let us

ALWAYS put our LORD & GOD

ABOVE ALL ELSE

“At that TIME

If anyone says to you

'Look=here is the MESSIAH!'-or-

'There he is'

Do NOT believe it

For FALSE messiahs and

FALSE prophets will appear

And perform great signs

And wonders=to DECEIVE

If possible=even the elect

SEE=I have told you

AHEAD of time” Matthew 24:23-25

“More than that

We are then

Found to be

FALSE witnesses about God

That he RAISED Christ

From the dead

But he did NOT

Raise him

If in fact

The dead are NOT RAISED” 1 Corinthians 15:15

Loving God=the REAL GOD=

ABOVE ALL

Sometimes we seek to

DO God's will

For our own ends

NOT FOR GOD'S

THIS is the most

DIFFICULT TEMPTATION=for it

IS the subtlest

Replacing God

With ourselves

IS the ultimate sin

And the ULTIMATE loneliness

Let us TRULY LOVE GOD=and

All others ABOVE ourselves=for this is

The MOST IMPORTANT commandment

“Jesus replied=

'LOVE the Lord your God

With ALL your heart

And with

All your soul

And with ALL your mind

This is the FIRST and

GREATEST COMMANDMENT” Matthew 22:37-38

My DEAR LORD=help us to

LET you love us=and TEACH US

TO LOVE YOU=ABOVE ALL

SHARING CUPS OF WATER

SHARING CUPS OF WATER=

WITH EACH OTHER

Jesus leaves us

With a MEANINGFUL SAYING

For us today

And it is about

HELPING out another=along

In trying=to PROMOTE

The WORD OF GOD=

Jesus tells us

IF you share = “CUPS OF WATER”

With others-

You may be REWARDED

So Jesus says

“Jesus said to his disciples=

‘Anyone who gives you

A CUP OF WATER=to drink

Because you belong to Christ-amen-

I say to you

Will not surely not lose

His reward’” Mark 9:41

SHARING CUPS OF WATER=

In other words-

HELPING one another along

In our efforts-

To BRING God and Christ

In this world

What more=what better

CAN we do

To SHARE our lives

With EACH OTHER=to share

The Word of God=

With each other

HELING one another along

On this journey

THROUGH this world

“John answered=

‘Anyone who has=two shirts

Should SHARE=with the one

Who has none

And anyone=who has food

Should DO the same’” John 3:11

“Nevertheless=the one

Who receives instruction

In the word

Should SHARE all good things

With their instructor” Galatians 6:6

“Since the children-

Have flesh and blood=

He too

SHARED in their humanity

So that by his death-

He might break the power=Of him

Who holds the power of death-------

That is--------the devil--------” Hebrews 2:14

SHARING CUPS OF WATER

With each other=

Giving our whole life

TO SHARE=the word of God

How many people

Are there=that give up

Their lives

FOR EACH OTHER?

I dare say

MORE than a few=

And I APPLAUD those who do

Give of yourself-

HELP ONE ANOTHER

On this journey=through life

SHARING CUPS OF WATER!

“Anyone who has been stealing-

Must steal no longer=but must work

Doing something useful

With their own hands

That they

May have something

TO SHARE

With those in need” Ephesians 4:28

Like Jesus said=”SHARE CUPS OF WATER”

Open up your heart

Open up your life=TO OTHERS

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our ALWAYS SHARING=Holy Father God!

JOURNAL/LEAN ON ME

“ON YOU-I DEPEND from birth; from my mother's womb you ARE my strength” Psalm 71:6

I ALWAYS had the greatest relationship with my mom-even as a child;she was ALWAYS THERE for me-I can ONLY IMAGINE Jesus' relationship with HIS own mother-even STRONGER than my own

And as STRONG as our DEPENDENCE IS on our mother and father-it is even STRONGER ON GOD

-HAS your CREATOR truly been YOUR LIFE GIVING SOURCE since your mother's womb-HE HAS for me-DO YOU LEAN ON GOD for ALL of your strength-I can HONESTLY say I have and I do-THE LORD GOD is my strength

it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE-and a great day to lean on GOD-FOR ALL of our STRENGTH
