CALLED BY GOD=TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT

 

CALLED BY GOD=to do

(What is right=right now)

 

It is=ALWAYS the right time

To do=THE RIGHT THING=It is always

A good time=for us=to go=WHEN we are

CALLED by the Holy Father God

CALLED BY GOD=to do=the right thing

Right now=Right this minute

 

“……..Remember that you RECEIVED what was

GOOD=during your lifetime=while Lazarus received

What was bad

 

But now=He is COMFORTED HERE=whereas

You are tormented”                                                                                              Luke 16:25

 

SOME of us have a LOT=in this world=while

Some others=have nothing=or have anyone=That

Was the case today=in the story of

THE RICH MAN=and Lazarus

 

Lazarus=was a BEGGAR=and covered with sores

He=LONGED for the scraps=from the rich man

 

So=as is the case=with ALL of us=they died

Lazarus was in HEAVEN=with Abraham=but the rich man

Was SUFFERING IN HADES

 

The rich man=CALLED to Abraham=and said

“Father Abraham=have pity on me=and send Lazarus

To DIP=the tip of his finger in water=and COOL my tongue

I am in agony=it this FIRE’

 

“But Abraham replied’=’Son=remember that

In your lifetime=you received YOUR GOOD THINGS

 

While Lazarus=received bad things=but now he is

COMFORTED here=and you are in agony’”                                                                              Luke 16:24-25

 

We are all=CALLED BY GOD=to do something GOOD

For someone else=when we have THE CHANCE

 

It is always=THE RIGHT TIME=to be Holy=it is always

The right time=TO DO=the right thing when

CALLED BY GOD!

 

“If my people=who are CALLED by my name=will

Humble themselves and pray=and seek my face=and

Turn from their wicked ways=then I will hear from heaven

And I will forgive=their sin=and will heal their land”                                                           2 Chronicles 7:14

 

“THIS POOR MAN CALLED=and the Lord heard him

He saved him=Out of all his troubles”                                                                                         Psalm 34:6

 

“It is written’=he said=’My house will

BE CALLED=a house of prayer=but you are

Making it=a den of robbers’”                                                                                                Matthew 21:13

 

I am a FIRM BELIEVER=that things always

EVEN OUT=if NOT in this world=then IN the next

 

That was the CASE=with the rich man and Lazarus

That has been the case=IN MY LIFE=thanks to God

And ALL OF YOU=God sees to it that we

WILL=get what we need=CALLED BY GOD=to do

The right thing=RIGHT NOW

 

We are CALLED to serve those=in poverty=If

We cannot do it materially like me=we are to do it

SPIRITUALLY and emotionally=TRY to be IN STEP

With the WILL OF GOD!

 

Someday=we will HAVE TO ANSWER FOR OURSELVES

With the Lord=in the NEXT LIFE=let up HOPE=we performed

BETTER than the rich man=with the Lazarus’ of this world

 

We are CALLED BY GOD=to do=what is right=RIGHT NOW!

In Jesus name=and in the name=of our always HELPING=always loving

Holy Father God!

We live

In a world

That tells us

There is no sin

That sin doesn’t matter

 

We live

In a world

Full of selfishness

Full of intolerance

And full of

Ingratitude, indifference

And the rejection of other human beings

 

But we also live

In a world

That can be very kind

Particularly

At the birth of a child

And the death of a loved on

 

I know because

I have been touched

By God

And by family and friends

And church

In these last

Number of weeks

 

So what changes us

From people

Of sin, selfishness, and rejection

To people of

Kindness and goodness

Beyond our own human understanding

 

I suggest

It is

The touch of God

In us and for us

The touch of God

For each other

To help one another

 

I suggest

It is simply

The touch of God

In each and every one of our lives

There is NOTHING BETTER=than a personal compliment

About our appearance=about our EFFORTS=or about

Our work=to PICK US UP=and help us keep on

MOVING FORWARD=that is what I try and do

WHEN I CAN=that is why=I ENCOURAGE YOU

To do this for someone=when you see them BROKEN=

Or having a hard time

ENCOURAGING OTHERS=lifting others up=This Lent

 

Lent is NOT ONLY just about fasting=about almsgiving=

About praying=but it is ABOUT ENCOURAGING OTHERS=

Loving others=BUILDING UP the broken among us

PICK someone up this Lent

 

“You know=that the rulers=of the Gentiles=

Lord it over them=and the great ones= make

Their authority over them felt=But it

Shall NOT be so among you”                                                                                                 Matthew 20:25-26

 

SOME of us=in this life=are powerful=and

Some of us=like to LET others know

HOW POWERFUL=that we are

 

But that is not=what BEING A CHRISTIAN

Is all about=BEING A CHRISTIAN=is loving others

BEING a Christian=is LIFTING others up

Being a Christian=is ENCOURAGING OTHERS=when

They feel like giving up=QUITTING=and

NOT going any further

 

“You Lord=hear the desire=of the afflicted

YOU ENCOURAGE THEM=and you listen

To their cry”                                                                                                                     Psalm 10:17

 

“Judas and Silas=who themselves were prophets

Said MUCH TO ENCOURAGE=and strengthen the believers”                                           Acts 15:32

 

“For everything=that was written=in the past

Was written=to teach us=so that through

The endurance=Taught in the Scriptures=

 

And THE ENCOURAGEMENT they provide=We

Might have HOPE”                                                                                                       Romans 15:4

 

I have to tell you=HOW BLESSED=I feel each day

WHEN I write my poem=How God=Jesus=and the SCRIPTURES

Give me the HOPE=to keep on going=give me the HOPE

To write another day

 

I have to tell you=HOW BLESED=I feel

When someone tells me=ONE of my poems

HAS ENCOURAGED THEM=lifted them up

Given them HOPE=ENCOURAGING OTHERS=This Lent

 

There is NOTHING=in this world=Like encouraging

Someone else=complimenting someone else=INSPIRING

Them=to keep on going=to give HOPE

The apostles=the disciples=Jesus=and our

Holy Father God all knew=and KNOW THIS

 

“Joseph=a Levit from Cyprus=whom the apostles

Called Barnabas=which means=’son of encouragement’

 

Sold a field he owned=and brought the money=and put it

At the apostles’ feet”                                                                                                               Acts 4:36

 

“And let us consider=HOW we may spur one another=on

Toward love and good deeds=NOT giving up

Meeting together=as some are in the habit=of doing

 

BUT ENCOURAGING ONE ANOTHER--------and all the more

As you see the DAY APPROACHING”                                                                                Hebrews 10:24-25

 

So take a LOOK AROUND=and see who is HURTING

Who needs ENCOURAGEMENT=Lift someone up today

CARRYING OUR CROSSES THIS LENT

 

CARRYING OUR CROSSES=THIS LENT

 

LENT is a difficult time= for us

It calls us=to be SERVANTS=to think

That others are MORE IMPORTANT than us

 

To get CLOSER to God=by living

IN HUMILITY=and by=CARRYING OUR CROSSES

For our Jesus tells us=to be THE LEAST=and

That is HOW=we become great

CARRYING OUR CROSSES+THIS LENT

 

“The GREATEST among you=

MUST BE YOUR SERVANT”                                                                                                Matthew 23:11

 

Jesus just didn’t say this=He walked the walk

And he TALKED the talk=he is=THE EXAMPLE

For us all

 

BEFORE=we can get the CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS=

Like Jesus=We have to CARRY our crosses=OUR HEAVY CROSSES

Of health=of finances=and LAST but certainly not least

OUR RELATTIONSHIP CROSSES=and all our crosses in between

CARRYING OUR CROSSES this Lent

 

“You yourselves have seen=what I did

To Egypt=and how I CARRIED YOU=on

Eagles’ wings=and brought you=to myself”                                                                     Exodus 19:4

 

“……..Like an eagle=that stirs up its nest=

And hovers over its young=that spreads its wings

To catch them=And CARRIES them aloft”                                                                          Deuteronomy 32:11

 

We were BROUGHT UP=in a society=to win

AT ALL COSTS=But Jesus tells us=that we have

To be the least=to be the GREATEST=what a PARADOX

 

And we become great=BY CARRYING OUR CROSSES

In Jesus’ name=Jesus did it himself=LITERALLY

 

CARRYING OUR CROSSES=for God our Holy Father

And Jesus=our EXAMPLE=He teaches how to BE GREAT=

So be HUMBLE=Like the Lord

 

“The greatest among you= will be your servant=For

Those who exalt themselves=WILL BE HUMBLED=and those

Who humble themselves=will be exalted”                                                                            Matthew 23:11-12

 

“This man=was handed over to you=by

God’s deliberate plan=and foreknowledge=and you

With the help of wicked men=put him to death=by

NAILING HIM=to the CROSS”                                                                                                       Acts 2:23

 

The apostles don’t know it=We don’t know it

But being a DISCIPLE to the Lord=Is PAVED

With our sufferings=our persecution=and our pain

But we can OVERCOME ALL=like our Jesus

 

Jesus CARRIED his crosses for us=we can

CARRY OUR CROSSES=for him=and the Holy Father God

CARRYING OUR CROSSES for Jesus=this Lent

 

“Then he said to them’=’Whoever wants to be

MY DISCIPLE=must deny themselves=and

TAKE UP THEIR CROSS DAILY=and follow me’”                                                                      Luke 9:23

 

We will NEVER=have to die on the cross=but

THE CLOSER=we are to Jesus=the more we

WILL have to=CARRY OUR CROSSES

 

THE GOSPEL WRITINGS=tell us that=BY BECOMING LESS

We become MORE=giving in service=LIVING IN SERVICE

Living in HUMILITY to Almighty God=if we do this

MAYBE some day=we will be GREAT IN HEAVEN=and

BE with our Lord

I OWED GOD ONE

 

 

 

 

 

Many years ago, in a hospitalization that began on my 22^nd birthday, I had gangrene,

Peritonitis, blood poisoning, and a host o other things.  I had emergency surgery and

Was given 0 per cent chance to live.  I had the last rights, went unconscious and two weeks later woke up alive.

 

What I didn’t know was that my Uncle John was outside punching the walls and praying.

What I didn’t know was that my Dad was praying, “he’s just a young man, he has his

Whole life in front of him, I wish God would take me.”  My grandfather, Carl Wallman,

Who was 72 years old and in fair health, was praying the same words as my father.  The

Day that I left Saint John’s Hospital and went to my Aunt’s to recuperate, my grandfather

Had a stroke and went into that same hospital.  My grandfather died February 26^th, 1977.

 

I have lived my whole life with a chronic illness and in severe chronic pain.  I had always

Wanted to meet a woman and have my own family.  It never did happen for me.  My health, and my finances due to health, were factors.

 

Many years later, in a different city, I met a woman who I was immediately attracted to.

I will call her Jennifer for the purposes of this story.

 

Jennifer was a petite woman of not more than 100 pounds.  Jennifer took an immediate

Dislike to me---though I couldn’t imagine why.  I knew I didn’t say or do anything.

Jennifer had the three most beautiful girls---about 8, 10, and 14 years old.  They were

A beautiful family of Hispanic origin.  It turned out that there was some sexual abuse within the family.

 

I was never quite able to connect with Jennifer---but years later I got a card signed by

Jennifer and the three girls that read:

 

 

                   “we will keep in touch with you and remember you are in our thoughts and

                     Hearts as well as God’s.”

 

While it will never be the kind of love I had hoped for as a young man, I will always love

This woman and her 3 girls; with ”a spiritual kind of love.”

 

Jennifer’s birthday is February 26^th.  I guess you could say:  “I OWED GOD ONE.”

There is=NO MEASURE=as to what kind

Of human being we are=than whether we are

A MERCIFUL PERSON=do we FORGIVE 70X7?=Like

Our Heavenly Father?=like our Jesus?

 

The TRUE MEASURE=of our CHARACTER

Is our mercy=

OUR MERCIFUL GOD!=are we=

ARE WE MERCIFUL TOO?

 

“We are shamefaced=even

To this day”                                                                                                                     Daniel 9:7

 

“Then Peter came=to Jesus and asked’=

‘Lord=HOW MANY TIMES=shall I forgive

My brother or sister=who sins against me?

Up to seven times?’

 

Jesus answered=’I tell you=NOT seven times=

But SEVENTY-SEVEN TIMES’”                                                                                         Matthew 18:21

 

As a CATHOLIC=I have gone to CONFESSION

Many times=to a priest=I also CLEANSE my soul daily

To God and Jesus daily=ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS

 

We need to have CLEAN SOULS=it is all about

FORGIVENESS=and being merciful

OUR MERCIFUL GOD!=are we merciful too?

 

“For the Lord=your God=is A MERCIFUL GOD=he

Will not abandon=or destroy you=or forget

The covenant=with your ancestors=which he

Confirmed to them by oath”                                                                                   Deuteronomy 40:31

 

“But in=YOUR GREAT MERCY=you

Did not put an and=to them=or abandon them=

For you are a gracious=and a MERCIFUL GOD”                                                             Nehemiah 9:31

 

“BLESSED ARE THE MERCIFUL=for

They will be SHOWN MERCY”                                                                                Matthew 5:7

 

WHEN we confess our sins=to the Holy

Father God=and Jesus=no matter what our sins are

It reminds us=of HOW BROKEN=that we are

 

And how FORTUNATE we are=to have

SUCH A MERCIFUL GOD=Our forgiving God

Who ENDURED the cross for us=Are we

MERCIFUL and forgiving too?

 

“BE MERCIFUL=just as=Your Father

IS MERCIFUL”                                                                                                                        Luke 6:36

 

“For this reason=he had to be made like them=

Fully human=in every way=in order that=he

Might become=A MERCIFUL and faithful high priest=

In service to God=and that he might make atonement

For the sins of the people”                                                                                                  Hebrews 2:17

 

“BE MERCIFUL=to those who doubt=save others

By snatching them=from the fire=TO SHOW MERCY

Mixed with fear=hating even the clothing=Stained

By corrupted flesh”                                                                                                              Jude :22

 

Our God is a MERCIFUL GOD=Luke’s message today

REMINDS US of that=we need to=POUR OUT

That same MERCY=to others=in our life too=for

FAMILY=FRIENDS=and even strangers=for LIVING

 

WITH MERCY and forgiveness=is

THE TRUE MEASURE=of our character

God EXTENDS mercy to us=he FORGIVES US

Our sins=let us BE MERCIFUL TO OTHERS TOO!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=and in the name=of OUR EVER MERCIFUL

AND FORGIVING Holy Father God!

The STARS=in the sky?=BOTH

ARE too numerous too count

 

But today=the Lord=through his ANGEL

Tells Abraham=that the NUMBER of his descendants will be

Just as numerous

 

“I will=bless you abundantly=and make YOUR DESCENDANTS

AS COUNTLESS=as the STARS of the sky=and

THE SANDS=of the seashore”                                                                                                 Genesis 22:17

 

And today=NO matter what monotheistic religion

You belong too=we can ALL trace ourselves

BACK TO ABRAHAM

 

And 47 years ago=OUR HOLY FATHER IN HEAVEN=

GAVE me a second chance at life=he let me

 

WALK AWAY=from a deathbed experience=that was

ENOUGH to kill me twenty times over

OUR ASTONISHING GOD!=Our God=who always surprises

I am LIVING WITH GRATITUDE=and thanksgiving

 

For this life=for EVERY DAY

Of this life=Living in AWE

FOR OUR ASTONISHING GOD!

 

“Dominion=and AWE=belong to God

He establishes order=in the heights=of heaven”                                                              Job 25:2

 

“My flesh trembles=in fear of you=

I stand=IN AWE=of your laws”                                                                                          Psalm 119:120

 

“When they see=among them=their children

The work of my hands=they will keep

My name holy=they

 

Will acknowledge the holiness=of the holy one

Of Jacob=and will stand=IN AWE=

Aren’t you stunned about=God’s promise

To Abraham?=ARE YOU=NOT IN AWE=by

The promises of our=POWERFUL GOD OF LOVE?

 

MORE descendants=than the STARS=in the moonlight

More descendants=than the COUNTLESS amount of pebbles

On the beach=WHAT AN AWESOME GOD=that we serve

OUR ASTONISHING GOD!= of the heavens

 

“Do not be terrified by them=for the Lord

Your God=who is among you=is a great

AND AWESOME GOD”                                                                                                       Deuteronomy 7:21

 

“Then I said’=’Lord=the God of heaven=the

GREAT AND AWESOME GOD=who keeps

His covenant of love=with those who love him

And keep his commandments…….’”                                                                                      Nehemiah 1:5

 

YES=our God has KEPT HIS PROMISE

To Abraham=for he HAS COUNTLESS DESCENDANTS

Like the sand=and the stars=SO NUMEROUS

 

And he=HAS KEPT HIS COVENANTS=with you and me

Here I am 69 years young=and still ALIVE=despite

Countless medical conditions

 

WHAT PROMISES=has our totally AWESOME GOD=

Kept for you and YOUR FAMILY?

“The Lord=is not slow=in KEEPING HIS PROMISE=

As some understand slowness

 

Instead=he is patient with you=NOT wanting anyone

To perish=but everyone to come to repentance”                                                               2 Peter 3:9

 

Our Lord=OUR ASTONISHING GOD!=promises us

UNENDING LOVE and care=and he is here for us=as

He was for Abraham=He is=OUR ASTONISHING GOD!=who

Wants our GRATITUDE FOR LIFE!

SURRENDERING OUR WILL=TO GOD

SURRENDER=is such an UGLY WORD=for

Most of us=it used to be=FOR ME TOO

 

But I have to tell you=THE TRUTH=it wasn’t

UNTIL I SURRENDERED my life to God=and

AL of you=that GOOD things began to

HAPPEN for me=SURRENDERING our faith to God

MATURE FAITH=is found in

SURRENDERING OUR WILL=TO OUR GOD

 

“Today=you are making this agreement=with the Lord=

He is to be Your God=and you are to=

Walk in his ways……”                                                                                                                Deuteronomy 26:18

 

As we get OLDER=as we go from teenagers

To young adults=we like our INDEPENDENCE=we

Like to GO our own ways

 

And sometimes=we even=SEPARATE OURSELVES

From God=I did this myself for a few years=when I was

A late teenager=and in my early twenties

 

But we work ourselves=OUR WAYS=Back to our God

We become=MATURE in our faith=and we GIVE

Our independence back to God

 

We REALIZE=we are in control=OF NOTHING

Especially life and death=as I found out

On my Death bed=when I was 22=SURRENDING

OUR WILL=To God=surrendering our LIVES=back to God

 

We need to=BECOME MATURE CHRISTIANS!=and

LEAN on God=for our lives=and the DIRECTION

That they go

 

“……..Until we all reach=unity in

The faith=and in the knowledge=of the Son of God

AND BECOME MATURE=attaining to the whole measure

Such a view of things=and if on some point=you

Think differently=that too=God

Will make clear to you”                                                                                                            Philippians 3:15

 

And isn’t that the truth=so MANY of us

THINK we know better than everyone else=so many

Of us=even think we know=BETTER THAN GOD Himself

 

But when we become Mature Christians=we

SURRENDER OUR WILL=and our faith and

OUR LIVES=over to God=because we KNOW

God knows better=SURENDERING OUR WILLS

Over to the Holy Father God

 

Becoming mature in OUR FAITH=in God

And Jesus Christ=by

SURRENDERING OUR WILLS=TO GOD

 

“But solid food=is for the MATURE=who by

Constant use=have trained themselves=to

Distinguish good from evil”                                                                                                 Hebrews 5:14

 

“Let perseverance=finish its work=so that

You=MAY BE MATURE=and complete=not

Lacking anything”                                                                                                                        James 1:4

 

We become MATURE human beings=when

WE REALIZE=we don’t know everything=We become

Mature Christians=when we realize God has a BETTER PLAN

For our lives=than we have for ourselves

 

Mature faith=mature human beings

SURRENDER THEIR WILLS=TO GOD=who know us

MUCH BETTER=than we know ourselves

 

SURRENDERING our lives to the Holy Father God=and to his Son Jesus Christ=IN

The name of the ALL LOVING LORD!

ONLY THE HEART KNOWS!

 

Do you EVER WISH=you had=The INNOCENCE

And the LOVE=of a child?=a one or 18

Month old?

 

So many people=in this world=want

SCIENTIFIC PROOF that God exits= my friends

That is NEVER going to happen=we need FAITH

ONLY THE HEART KNOWS!

 

“……..go first=and be RECONCILED

With your brother…….”                                                                                                         Matthew 5:24

 

At the heart of God=IS FAITH=is love

Is kindness=and FORGIVENESS

 

WHEN Jesus talks about forgiveness=He

Talks about it=IN RELATIONSHIP=to

The Kingdom of Heaven

 

He talks about a RIGHTEOUSNESS=that goes BEYOND

Words and actions=he talks about a virtue=that

ONLY THE HEART KNOWS!= virtue=that only God knows=for

Our God=LOOKS AT THE HEART

 

ONLY GOD=and us know

What is TRULY in our hearts=Is it honest?

Is it sincere?=Is it RIGHTEOUS=ONLY

ONLY THE HEART KNOWS!

 

“And over=ALL THE VIRTUES=put on love=

Which binds them all together=in perfect unity”                                                                         Colossians 3:14

 

RIGHTEOUSNESS comes from loving=as God

Loves us=and as we are supposed to BE LOVING OTHERS

Only God KNOWS=ONLY OUR HEART KNOWS!=if

We are actually living the way we are supposed to

The heart knows what is right=AND GOD KNOWS!

 

“The eyes=of the Lord=are on THE RIGHTEOUS=and

His ears=are attentive to their cry”                                                                                   Psalm 34:15

 

“The fruit=OF THE RIGHTEOUS=is a tree

Of life=and the one who is wise=SAVES LIVES”                                                                   Proverbs 11:30

 

“Then they will go away=to eternal punishment=

BUT THE RIGHTEOUS=to eternal life”                                                                             Matthew 25:26

 

There are a COUPLE of questions=we all need

To ask ourselves=this LENT=God loves us=our command is

To LOVE OTHERS=as we love ourselves=ARE we willing

To love others=IN THE WAY=God loves us?

 

What MUST we do=to BE RIGHTEOUS

To our brothers and sisters In this world=I suggest to you

My dear friends=that our heart knows

ONLY THE HEART KNOWS!=Only God Knows!

 

“Not only is this so=but you also boast in God

Through our lord Jesus Christ=through whom

We have now=RECEIVED RECONCILIATION”                                                                         Romans 5:11

 

“All this is from God==WHO RECONCILED US

To himself=through Christ=and gave us the

MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION”                                                                                       2 Corinthians 5:18

 

Dear lord=dear Holy Father God and Jesus

We pray to you=THIS LENT=that our HEART KNOWS

Reconciliation with you=and with all others=and that

We have the willingness to love others

 

In the way=OUR HOLY FATHER God in heaven and Jesus

Love us=on this earth=but ONLY THE HEART KNOWS!

Our hearts and our God knows!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our FOREVER LIVING=forever loving

And ALWAYS RECONCILING=Holy Father God!

Is figuratively and literally

The center of a person

That which

Gives a person their direction

 

Focus your heart

On loving God and loving others

In the Sermon on the Mount

Our Lord says,

“Blessed are the poor in spirit

For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”

 

But who are

The poor on spirit

 

I dear say

It is us

ALL OF US---

 

Because we are chasing

The wrong things

 

Most of us

Are chasing lives

Based on wealth, fame, status, and fortune

But these things

Will not fill us up

 

Nature abhors a vacuum

And we

Must fill our lives with something

 

I suggest

We try to fill our lives with LOVE

Love of God---and---

Love of others

 

Only then

Can our spirit be filled

Only then can we be

NO LONGER---poor in spirit

 

We need to

Let go of yesterday

We need to

Focus on the present

We need to

Let the Lord possess us

 

God’s gift to us---IS TODAY

Today is the most important day

Of our lives

 

By focusing on LOVE

We might find that

We are no longer poor in spirit

And by focusing on love

WE might find that

The KINGDOM OF GOD

Is not only in Heaven

But RIGHT HERE on this earth
