JOY IN=GOD'S LOVE

 

JOY IN=GOD’S LOVE

 

Don’t you find it COMFORTABLE

To know

That God loves you?=I do!

 

It is=what gets me UP

In the morning=to FEEL GOD’S LOVE

And SPREAD that love

Along to others

JOY=IN GOD’S LOVE

For us

 

“The seventy=two disciples

RETURNED REJOICING…….”                                                                                              Luke 10:17

 

Can’t you just

FEEL the excitement

In the lives=of the DISCIPLES?

 

They return from

THEIR MISSION=and can’t wait

To SHARE their experiences

With Jesus=their master

They are like LITTLE CHILDREN

 

They can’t wait=to tell him

ALL the marvelous things

That they were able to do

IN HIS NAME

 

And I CAN’T WAIT

To write to you all

Every day=to tell you

HOW MUCH=God loves you and me

JOY IN=GOD’S LOVE

 

“Then I will go

To the altar of God=to God

MY JOY and delight

 

I will praise you

With the lyre

O God=my God”                                                                                                                    Psalm 43:4

 

“SHOUT FOR JOY=to God

All the earth”                                                                                                                                Psalm 66:1

 

“The prospect of the righteous

IS JOY=but the hopes=of the wicked

Come to nothing”                                                                                                                         Proverbs 10:28

 

But Jesus wants=THEIR ENTHUSIAM

To be rooted=in something deeper

Than their preaching=as he does us

 

He wants them and us=TO REALIZE

That we should be happy and excited

But there is something better

“YOUR NAMES=are written in heaven”                                                                                    Luke 10:20

JOY IN=GOD’S LOVE

 

“I have told you this

SO THAT MY JOY

 

May be in you=and that YOUR JOY

May be complete”                                                                                                                     John 15:11

 

“Though you=have not seen him

You love him=and even though

You believe in him

And are filled

 

With an inexpressible

Your JOY

Should NOT be rooted

But FOUND

In God’s GREAT LOVE=For us

A PROMISE to God=basically

To live for ALL OTHERS

My family=my friends=and

I have found the MEANING

For my life=in that SIMPLE PROMISE=

To live for others=for the PURPOSE

OF GOD

Whoever SERVES ME

BASICALLY=God is telling us

We find ourselves

By the GIVING OF OURSELVES

For others

In GOD'S NAME

I have found this

To be TRUE

And it is the 12th STEP

For the AA  (Alcoholics Anonymous)

In the persons' sobriety=it is

NOT complete=until it is

SHARED WITH OTHERS

It is a PRINCIPLE that

Is TRUE for all of us

LIVING in God's kingdom

We truly FIND OURSELVES

When we live for others=

For God=and for all others

FINDING MEANING in our lives

By GIVING of ourselves

“They read from the

BOOK of the Law of God

Making it clear

And giving the MEANING

So that the people understood

What was being read”                                                                                        Nehemiah 8:8

Nurses-teachers-coaches=

And many others

In ALL walks of life

Have found this principle 

To be true too

Jesus tells us=that when

A grain of wheat dies

And FALLS to the ground

It bears much fruit

When we die

To ourselves

WE LIVE

We live

In GIVING of our lives away

For others=

We find MEANING in giving

“But since

You excel in everything--------

In faith-in speech-

In knowledge-In complete earnestness 

And in the love

We have kindled in you

See that you also excel

Inside each of us

Is a part of us

We don’t

Want to let go

 

Inside each of us

There is a part of us

We don’t want

Anyone else to know

There is some part

Of us

That we are ashamed of

That we don’t want

To share with anyone else

 

That’s ok

As long as

We share it with God

God knows that part of us

That we don’t even

Want to admit to ourselves

So you may as well

Talk to him about it

God loves you anyway

 

God loves the good in us

The part of you

That you share with the world

EVERYONE in this world

 

Or even our country=our state

And MAYBE=even

All of our neighbors

 

But God KNOWS everyone

Of us=in this world=INTIMATELY

He knows all of us

And he knows=EVERYTHING about us

 

“O Lord…….

The question is

DO WE KNOW GOD?

FINDING INTIMACY IN GOD!

 

There are those=in our lives

WHO KNOW US=very much

Our family=extended family=

And friends

 

We NEED PEOPLE

Who SHARE in our experiences

Of life

Who share in our history

 

People who are FAMILIAR

With our BLESSINGS

And even our shortcomings

 

Yet=they still like us

Even love us

 

FINDING INTIMACY

With family and friends=but more importantly

Finding intimacy=with our God

FINDING INTIMACY IN GOD!

 

“He says

‘Be still=AND KNOW

I am God

 

I will be exalted=among the nations

I will be exalted=In the earth’”                                                                                              Psalm 46:10

 

“Do not boast=about tomorrow

For you=DO NOT KNOW

What a day may bring”                                                                                                          Proverbs 27:1

 

“I am the good shepherd

I KNOW my sheep=and

My sheep KNOW ME-------

 

Just as the Father=KNOWS ME

In a world where we

Are CONSTANTLY ON TRIAL

We are=always on trial

Of our brothers= is CAST OUT

 

Who accuses them

We LIVE in a world

With a lot of crime

WAY TOO MUCH

 

Much of our SOCIETY

Is OBSESSED with courtroom trials

Some murder trial-

Some corporate misconduct

 

We watch them on TELEVISION

On live stream

And read the newspapers

 

But it is a SHAME

That each one of us

And our behavior

Are CONSTANTLY ON TRIAL

 

But the TRUTH Is=

It doesn’t matter

What others SAY=about us

The VERDICT belongs to God

And Jesus=it is what they say

That is=THE FINAL WORD

 

“We sent Timothy=who

Is our brother=and co-worker

In God’s service=in spreading

The gospel of Christ

 

To strengthen and encourage you

IN your faith=so that no one

Would be unsettled

IN THESE TRIALS”                                                                                                                     1 Thessalonians 3:2-3

 

“Consider it pure joy

My brothers and sisters=

Whenever you FACE TRIALS

Of many kinds

 

Because you know that

The testing of your faith

Produces perseverance”                                                                                                          James 1:2-3

 

“……..if this is so

Then the Lord knows=

How to rescue

 

The godly FROM TRIALS=

And to hold the unrighteous

It is a shame=that others

AND THE EVIL ONE

Come after us

The devil comes with TEMPTATIONS

And pretends

To be our friend

 

But fortunately for us=

We have a STRONGER GOD

Who is always OUR ADVOCATE

And in our corner

And he will give you=ANOTHER ADVOCATE

 

To help you=and be

With you forever-------

So even though

We are=CONSTANTLY ON TRIAL

Jesus is a=STRONGER ADVOCATE=for us

 

He is the ULTIMATE DEFENSE ATTORNEY

In this world=it is true

We are=CONSTANTLY ON TRIAL

 

But the VERDICT IS INNOCENT

If we live=in his love

He has ALREADY=paid the price

Define an angel

 

The one word

That comes to my mind

Is “Heavenly”

 

Beings that help us along

On life’s journey

Beings that assist us

In one way or another

 

Psalm 91:11 &12 says

“For he will command his angels

Concerning you

To guard you in all your ways

 

They will lift you up

In their hands

So that you will

Not strike your foot

Against a stone”

 

Heavenly---to be sure

 

I have had many earthly angels

In my life

My parents---my 2 sisters

And other family members and friends

To help me along the way

 

I know

I would not be sitting here today---writing this

If it were not for them

 

But there are also

Angels from heaven

That God has actually used

To deliver messages too

 

We know

That the angel Gabriel

Helped Daniel to understand his visions

 

We know

That the angel Gabriel

Appeared to Zechariah

At the birth of John the Baptist

 

And above all

We know that he appeared to Mary

To ask her

To be the Mother of God

 

TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL

 

Then we have Saint Michael

Our defender and protector

To help us

Against the wickedness and snares of the devil

 

Michael appears

In the book of Daniel

As the special guardian and protector of Israel

 

And in the book of Revelation

As the principal fighter for God

In the fight

Between good and evil

 

Michael’s power is so strong

That it is believed

That souls can be rescued

Even from hell itself

 

May we all be so lucky

 

Finally we have the angel Raphael

Named in the book of Tobot

 

Raphael’s name means

“God has healed”

 

My wish for all of us is that

We will be touched by many beings

Both heavenly and earthly

To help us

On life’s journey

 

And that you feel

God’s love and presence---SO STRONG

Inside of you

 

That you know

That you have been blessed by God

And that indeed---you have been

BE DETERMINED=

To fight through them

To complete YOUR MISSION

REALIZE=Jesus has already walked the walk

UNITE with Jesus=offer

The Holy Father=and Jesus

With the Lord’s

So pick UP your crosses

And keep moving FORWARD

On a JOURNEY=through this life

And with our journey

Comes setbacks and difficulties

 

It is up to us

To fight through these

By staying CLOSE to God

And close to Jesus=and then

CONTINUING ON=WITH OUR JOURNEY

That is=what Jesus did

 

“On they way=they entered

A Samaritan village to prepare

For his reception there

But they=Would NOT WELCOME him

 

Because the destination

Of his JOURNEY=was Jerusalem

 

When the disciples=James and John saw this

They asked=

‘Lord=do you want us=to call down

Fire from heaven=to consume them?’

 

Jesus turned and rebuked them

And they JOURNEYED=to another village”                                                                            Luke 9:52-56

 

For ethics and religious reasons-

The Samaritans and Jews=

Were OPPOSED to one another

But Jesus did not let this=stop him

 

MANY of us

Are UNWELCOMED by others

In today’s world

For all kinds=of REASONS

 

But we have to

ACCEPT them anyway

Just like Jesus did

 

Don’t respond to another

With contempt=like many of us do

In this world

 

Picture Jesus

LOOK at them lovingly

And CONTINUE=move on

WITH your journey=Just like Jesus

MOVING ON=WITH OUR JOURNEY

 

We have to treat others

WITH RESPECT=and if

They don’t treat us that way

CONTINUE ON=WITH OUR/YOUR JOURNEY

 

“TREAT younger men=as brothers

Older women as mothers

And younger women=as sisters

With absolute purity”                                                                                                           1 Timothy 5:1-2

 

“Husbands=in the same way

Be considerate=as you live

With your wives=AND TREAT THEM

With respect…….”                                                                                                               1 Peter 3:7

 

Try to picture Jesus

MOVING ON=with the/HIS JOURNEY

Just do the same

CONTINUE to work

That there is MUCH in

This world that

CAN frighten us

MANY people in this world

Who believe in evil

Rather than good

But the psalmist also 

Tells us=that those who believe

Are like an OLIVE TREE

We TRUST in GOD'S MERCY

Living from the inside out

Letting God’s love

Turn me all around

I am

Letting God’s love

Turn me every which way

But down

 

I am

Living on God’s love

I am

Living inside out

 

Inside out

Is the way

I want to live

Inside out

Is the way

I want to give

Inside out

I want to give

All that’s in me

 

Inside out

I just

Want to live

Want to give you

The love that God gave to me

 

I just want to live

Ps        “You TURN things upside down

              As if the potter were thought to be

              Like the clay

 

              Shall what is formed say to him

              Who formed it

              “He did not make me”

               Can the pot say of the potter

                You removed my sackcloth

BEING GRATEFUL=WITH WHATEVER COMES

It is a TOUGH WORLD

That we live in=the last

TWO YEARS demonstrate that

 

Covid=the war against the Ukraine=

And all the MEANNESS on

And in SOCIAL MEDIA

Between one another

 

But EVERYONE of us

Has a LOT to be

THANKFUL FOR=even if

It is just=OUR VERY OWN LIVES

 

BEING GRATEFUL=WITH WHATEVER COMES

In this world

 

“The Lord gave

And the Lord=has taken away

 

BLESSED BE

The name of the Lord”                                                                                                    Job 1:21

 

It is EASY to be THANKFUL

When everything is going GOOD

In our lives

 

When we are RECEIVING BLESSINGS=

Our family is healthy=and we

ARE DOING GOOD OURSELVES

 

But how CHALLENGING it can be

To be thankful to God

To feel gratitude

 

WHEN we are enduring serious health problems=

Our FRIENDSHIPS are breaking

Or when we LOSE our job

Or feel

The DEATH of a loved one

 

CAN WE still feel thankful?

BEING GRATEFUL+WITH WHATEVER COMES

 

“Therefore since we are

Receiving a kingdom

That cannot be shaken

 

LET US BE THANKFUL

And so worship God=

Accepting with reverence and awe

For our God=Is a consuming fire”                                                                                             Hebrews 12:28-29

 

The story of JOB

Tells BOTH sides to us

 

Job was living a life

Of privilege=and of BLESSINGS

 

But became submerged

With tragedy and misfortune

But Job RESPONDED=by saying words

Of acceptance

For what was UNFOLDING=in his life

Before later=wishing that he could die

 

BEING GRATEFUL=giving thanks

WITH WHATEVER COMES

 

“Enter his gates=WITH THANKSGIVING

And his courts with praise

GIVE THANKS to him=and praise his name”                                                                                     Psalm 100:4

 

“BUT THANKS=be to God

He gives us=the victory

Though our Lord Jesus Christ”                                                                                                  1 Corinthians 15:57

 

Dear Lord=WE PRAY

Let us continue=TO BE GRATEFUL

FOR WHATEVER COMES TODAY!

 

Help us to practice GRATITUDE

In whatever circumstances may come

In our lives today

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our Holy Father God=who DESERVES=all of OUR GRATITUDE!
