He was the CHOSEN ONE

The WORLD has been waiting for


But the people
Of his HOME TOWN
Didn't believe in Jesus
Didn't believe
In the BRAND NEW YOU


“'But I tell you'=he continued
'NO prophet
Is accepted in HIS home town'” Luke 4:24


There are ADVANTAGES and disadvantages
To going to WHERE you are KNOWN


There MIGHT be a need
By you=to PROVE that you have
Moved BEYOND who you were


But NO MATTER how impressive
The new you is=people might FIND it
DIFFICULT=to accept
The brand new you


Jesus had GROWN into
A BRAND NEW YOU=he
Had become what he
Was MEANT to be
With the help
Of GOD'S GRACE


He was WHO
He was DESTINED to BE=
The MESSIAH=the BRAND NEW YOU!


He was the LIVING TRUTH!


“The nations
Will see you VINDICATED
All kings=your GLORY


You will be CALLED
By a NEW NAME
That the mouth
Of the Lord=will bestow” Isaiah 62:2


“'Go=stand
In the temple courts'


'And TELL the people
All about this NEW LIFE'” Acts 5:20


“Therefore=if anyone
Is in Christ


The NEW creation has come
The old has gone
The NEW IS HERE!” 2 Corinthians 5:17


In RETURNING to his hometown
Jesus was UP to the CHALLENGE


In facing RESISTANCE
His speech was gracious
And AUTHENTIC


He was FILLED UP
With the spirit and
The POWER of his
DIVINE FATHER

IN THE LORD

RIOTOUS RESPONSE


But we do have
The HOLY SPIRIT=
The Holy Spirit COMES TODAY
To each and every one
Of us-
That WANT to receive him


THE SPIRIT IS HERE!=
Receive the JOY OF GOD


“Again Jesus said=
'PEACE be with you'
As the Father
Has sent me
I am sending you'


And with that
He breathed on them
And said=
'RECEIVE the HOLY SPIRIT'” John 20:21-22


Have you ever felt
The JOY and hope of God
FLOWING through your body?


JOY like bursting into a
Dance or song=or the
RETURN of autumn football


PENTECOST OVERFLOWS
With joy like that=
The joy of Pentecost=
Can melt fear and division


THE SPIRIT IS HERE!
Receive the JOY


“Then I will go
To the altar of God=
To God-
MY JOY and delight” Psalm 43:4


“The prospect of the righteous
IS JOY=
But the hopes
Of the wicked
Come to nothing” Proverbs 10:28


WHAT is all this
Cause for JOY?=
John's sentence says it all=
The SPIRIT OF GOD
Is here with us


The FATHER is here
Jesus is here=
And the SPIRIT OF GOD
Is here


ALL=a CAUSE for JOY


The LIFE of the Spirit of GOD
BREAKS the barriers
Between humans
And allows a real relationship=
A REAL UNITY with God=
What we are longing for


It is the LIFE
OF THE CHURCH


“Create in me
A pure heart
O God=
And renew a STEADFAST SPIRIT
Within me” Psalm 51:10


“However as it is written=
'What no eye has seen
What no ear has heard
And what no human mind
Has conceived--------


The things God
Has prepared for those
Who love him--------'


These are the things
God has revealed

We all have a
PURPOSE in this life


And God EXPECTS US
To fulfill it=

The case with Saint Paul=
That is the case
With us-
FULFILLING OUR PURPOSE!


“He remained
For two full years
In his lodgings


He RECEIVED
ALL who came to him=
And with complete assurance
And without hindrance


He proclaimed
The Kingdom of God=
And taught about
The Lord Jesus Christ” Acts 28:30-31


Paul is SPEAKING
Of his time IN PRISON=
His two years
In chains


Most of us DON'T
GO to prison=but we do
FACE CIRCUMSTANCES
Beyond our control


Sometimes we are LIVING
In a prison
Of our OWN MAKING


FULFILLING OUR PURPOSE!


“I will FULFILL
My vows to the Lord
In the presence
Of all his people” Psalm 116:14


“Do not think that I
Have come to abolish
The Law or the PROPHETS


I have not come
To abolish them
But to FULFILL THEM” Matthew 5:17


“Let no debt
Remain outstanding


Except the continuing debt
To love one another=
For whoever loves others
Has FULFILLED the law” Romans 13:8


MANY of us THINK
We will FULFILL OUR PURPOSE=
Once we are set free=
Once we get
The the OTHER SIDE of this


But Paul is TEACHING us
ANOTHER WAY


He is showing us
That we don't have
To WAIT
For our situation to improve


We can PROCLAIM
GOD'S GOODNESS=
Even when we are encumbered


We can continue
To do our work
And FULFILL OUR PURPOSE
Right now
Chains or no chains


“A longing FULFILLED
Is sweet to the soul=
But fools detest
Turning form evil” Proverbs 13:19


Going forward=
FULFILLING OUR PURPOSE=
When we feel least able
Is a GREAT BLESING


Like Saint Paul=
Let us
KEEP FULFILLING OUR PURPOSE!

When we read
The SCRIPTURES=every morning
They proclaim a lot


They ask us
To do MORE than
LISTEN to God


They ask us to
SAY YES=to respond
To God with our ACTIONS


They ask us to
SAY YES to God=with
Our thoughts=our words=
And our deeds


“He said this-
Signifying by what kind of death
He would GLORIFY GOD=


And when he had said this=
He said to him-
'FOLLOW ME'” John 21:19


Peter did indeed
FOLLOW JESUS=
He said YES to God


He said yes
By giving HIS LIFE
To the cause


We may NOT
Have to die
For the cause=
As Jesus did
And Peter did


But we can say YES
With our LIVES=
We can proclaim
The GOSPEL with our actions


We can say yes
We can follow Jesus=
We can LIVE
THE CHRISTIAN LIFE


“Surely your goodness
And love will FOLLOW ME

“Then Jesus said
To his disciples
'Whoever wants
To be my disciples


Must deny themselves
And take up their cross

“FOLLOW the way of love

Of the SPIRIT-

YES=saying yes to
Christ and following him
And actively LIVING
A Christian life
Is NOT the easy way


Yes the WORD of God
Is PROCLAIMED in us
And we should
PRAISE GOD for it


Despite the setbacks
I have suffered=I THANK Jesus
For this life I have led=
And I thank Jesus=
And try to praise God
For EVERY DAY
Of my life


I will continue to follow him
And say YES TO GOD

And walk in

As we PRAISE GOD

And the WORD OF GOD
Does lead me=
It is a KEY FACTOR

The word of God

I look back

I have faced


And it is a CREDIT
To GOD
That I am still here


I am sure

But when we are
ON A PATH=

And enjoy the JOURNEY

The power of LOVE
Of God-in my life

In God
I know I am someone
In God
And I know you are SOMEONE
In God too
We are ALL someone

Humility-and justice-


Let your right hand achieve
Awesome deeds” Psalm 45:4


I am FINDING humility
In the power and the LOVE
Of God


“When pride comes
Then comes disgrace


But with humility

TAKE the lower position
In life
If you are to be exalted-
LET God do it-
Do NOT BOAST about yourself


“In the same way
You who are younger
Submit yourselves
To your elders


ALL of yourselves
CLOTHE yourself in humility

Particularly this year

DIRECT METHOD
In speaking the GOOD NEWS


“I have not spoken
In secret=from somewhere
In a land of darkness

I, the Lord


SPEAK THE TRUTH=

“But when he
The SPIRIT OF TRUTH comes=

And WHAT KIND of simple truths
Will Jesus speak?

Suffer and die
For our sins

And RESURRECTION=
We will be given ETERNAL LIFE

That we can OBTAIN GOD'S HELP
Through prayer
And that he will
Always LISTEN

BECOME like him

In love=we will grow
To become in every respect


The mature body of him
Who is the head-

Yes Jesus will always
PROMISE us
The SIMPLE TRUTH

A HOME with him

When Moses=trembled at
The thought of Pharaoh=
He remembered-
“I am with you”


And we CAN REMEMBER

“I will be with you-
UNTIL THE END OF TIME”

And SURELY I am with you

ARE looking for a sign

He is RIGHT THERE-
In front of us

In the WORD OF GOD

He is the SUNRISE
He is the sunset
A summer rain storm
A beautiful Autumn day
Even the cold snowy days of winter


He is everywhere
He is IN everything
And EVERYONE including
You and me


“The Lord is in
His holy temple


He observes everyone
On earth

“A new command-I give you

As a foreshadowing
To his own days of death
And RESURRECTION


Jesus said,
“A wicked and adulterous generation
Asks for a sign

The prophet Jonah


For as Jonah
Was 3 days and three nights
In the belly of a huge fish


So the Son of MAN
Will be three days and nights

Jesus is the sign
Jesus is the PROOF

And Pope Francis once said:
“TRUE WISDOM

ARE YOU a sensitive person? IF you are-contrary to the opinion of many people in today's world-it is A VERY GOOD THING-sensitivity is KINDNESS-concern-and AWARENESS of peoples' needs and feelings


And it is STEPPING FORWARD in HELPING a person meet their needs before they even KNOW what their needs are-and this is what Barnabas did for Paul-Barnabas was a FRIEND of the12 apostles-and Barnabas took RESPONSIBILITY for introducing Paul to the TWELVE


WITHOUT this SENSITIVE INTERCESSION by Barnabas-PAUL may have NEVER MET the twelve-for they were AFRAID of him-for his former life of PERSECUTING Christians-Barnabas' approval of Paul made all the difference for Paul going on to be a WORLD-CLASS PREACHER-and affecting millions of people EVEN TODAY


WHO has HELPED you in becoming the person and Christian you are today? WHO HAVE YOU HELPED with your kindness and spirituality in helping another person on their JOURNEY through life?


SENSITIVITY is a beautiful virtue-and NOT a lot of people seem to possess it anymore-WHO can you reach out to-WHO may FEEL ALONE-to be a part of your group


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and a great for being SENSITIVE and KIND to someone in NEED










BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER




In chapter 22
Of Saint Matthew's GOSPEL
Jesus gives us
The two greatest commandments


Of course
The first commandment is:


“LOVE the Lord your God
With all your heart
With all your soul
And with ALL your mind” Matthew 22:37


“And the second
Is like Unto it
Thou shalt love thy neighbor
As thyself” Matthew 22:39


And INCLUDED
In LOVING our neighbor
Is BEING KIND to that person


“For you have said
My KINDNESS
Is established forever” Psalm 89:3


In other words
Be kind to everyone
AT ALL TIMES


VERY difficult to do
But something
We can all aspire to do


And while
We should be kind
To everyone


We should be especially kind
To the NEEDY


“He who despises his neighbors
SINS
BUT BLESSED
Is he
Who is kind to the NEEDY” Proverbs 14:21


“He who OPPRESSES the poor
Shows contempt
For their maker


But whoever
IS KIND to the needy
HONORS GOD” Proverbs 14:31


And it doesn't often
Take a lot of effort
To be KIND to someone


A warm smile
A handshake
A HUG


Maybe a birthday
Or a get-well card


Just some little action
That says:


“I KNOW
What you are going through
And I know
What you have been through”


Just some little action
That lets a person
Know that
You CARE about them


And in James 1
James tells us
WHAT PURE RELIGION IS


“RELIGION that God Our Father
Accepts as PURE AND FAULTLESS
Is this:


TO LOOK AFTER orphans and widows
In their distress


And to keep oneself
From being polluted
By the world” James 1:27


So LOVE ONE ANOTHER
and always remember
To keep being KIND

THE GROWTH PROCESS


EVERY successful relationship
In life=is meant
For GROWTH


Sometimes there are
SETBACKS and bends=but
In the LONG RUN
They keep moving forward


Maybe you have NOTICED this
In your RELATIONSHIPS with family-
With friends=and with GOD


“I have much MORE
To tell you
But you
Cannot bear it now” John 16:12


You can SEE that Jesus'
Relationships with his APOSTLES
Went this way too=
There was A GROWTH PROCESS


They weren't always ready
To HEAR EVERYTHING-
He wanted to tell them=
They needed TIME TO GROW


And we need time
TO GROW=in our relationship
With God and Jesus too


“Dishonest money dwindles away=
But whoever gathers money
Little by little
Makes it GROW” Proverbs 13:11


“I planted the seed-
Apollos watered it=
But God has
Been MAKING IT GROW” 1 Corinthians 3:6


And GOD makes our relationship
With him GROW TOO=
But all good relationships
TAKE TIME


We have to STAY WITH HIM
Through the ups and downs
Of our life


THROUGH all the successes
And the failures


THINK BACK to your
Earlier years=look at HOW
Your relationship
With God has CHANGED
And GROWN over time


“But GROW
In the grace
And knowledge of our Lord
And SAVIOR Jesus Christ


To him be glory
Now and forever-Amen!” 2 Peter 3:18


Look at how the apostles
GREW through the crucifixion


ONLY THEN
Were they ready-
To COMPLETE the work
That God and Jesus
Had mapped out for them


THE GROWTH PROCESS
Takes time


Our RELATIONSHIP with God
Is a gift=but God wants us
To COOPERATE in its growth


He wants us to PRAY=
And to be OF SERVICE
To others=
It takes TIME
It is a GROWTH PROCESS


“Sow righteousness for yourselves=
Reap the fruit
Of unfailing love


And break up
Your unplowed ground-
For it is TIME
To seek the LORD” Hosea 10:12


Yes our relationships
Are all GROWTH PROCESSES=
Particularly our ones
With God=and family and friends


In Jesus' name=and in the name of=OUR EVER GROWING FATHER!

THE HEART OF JESUS' MESSAGE


Today we read about
Paul and Silas=
Who were CONTINUING to PREACH
After being ordered to STOP


They were attacked=stripped=
Beaten=imprisoned
And chained


At midnight=
An earthquake SHOOK
The foundations
Of the jail


The chains off=
And the doors sprung open


“WHEN the jailer
Woke up and saw
The prison doors wide open


He DREW his sword
And was about
To KILL HIMSELF


Thinking that
The prisoners had escaped


But Paul shouted........
'Do NO HARM
To yourself
We are ALL HERE'” Acts 16:27-28


And the locks and chains
FELL OFF the jailer too=
When Paul and Silas
Assured him
They wished him NO HARM


What SAVED the jailer
Was NOT
The preached words


But the HEART
OF JESUS' MESSAGE


And the HEART of
JESUS' message
Is COMPASSION
And forgiving love


“The Lord
Is good to all


He has COMPASSION
On all-
He has made” Psalm 145:9


“For the Lord
Comforts his people
And will have COMPASSION
On his afflicted ones” Isaiah 49:13


I will betroth you
To me forever


I will betroth to you
In righteousness and justice
In love and COMPASSION” Hosea 2:19


The JAILER and
His family
RESPONDED WITH LOVE


Caring for the wounds-
SHARING food from their table
And rejoicing
AFTER being baptized


ONLY THE HEART
Of Jesus' message=
Only COMPASSION and love
Can TURN a person
Like that


“As you know-
We count as blessed
Those who have persevered


You have heard
Of JOB'S perseverance=
And have seen
What the Lord
Finally brought about


The world is FULL
OF COMPASSION AND MERCY” James 5:11


Dear Lord=help us
Always to SHARE
Your LOVE AND COMPASSION=
The very HEART
Of YOUR MESSAGE


So that we can
MOVE OTHERS=just like you=
And Paul and Silas

WHAT IS GETTING IN OUR WAY?

WHAT IS GETTING IN OUR WAY?


Do you EVER ask yourself=
WHAT is getting in the way
Of living your FAITH=
More completely=
And more GENEROUSLY?


I DO=Today we have a
MAN=in the gospel=asking
Jesus=EXACTLY THAT


And he didn't like the answer=
MAYBE I=maybe we=
Wouldn't like it either


“........Go sell=what you have=
And GIVE to the POOR........” Matthew 19:20


The young man is very SINCERE
And realizes his FAITH
Entails obligations


The young man KEEPS the
Commandments=he is decent=
And he ASKS Jesus=


“TEACHER=what good thing
MUST I do
To INHERIT eternal life?” Matthew 19:16


“Jesus answered=
'If you want
To be PERFECT


Go=sell your possessions
And GIVE to the poor


And you will
Have TREASURE IN HEAVEN


Then COME=FOLLOW ME” Matthew 19:21


WHO could do such a thing?
NOT ME=probably not you=
And definitely NOT the young man
For he was VERY WEALTHY


“When the young man
Heard this=
He went away SAD
For he had great WEALTH” Matthew 19:22


What is it
That is GETTING IN YOUR WAY?=
From INHERITING eternal life?


It is NOT always riches
Like clothes=A FINE car=
Or large bank accounts


Sometimes=it's QUALITIES like
Self-centeredness=fear=or
Self-righteousness


But Jesus tells us it
Is STILL POSSIBLE to be SAVED
If we STAY CLOSE to God


“Jesus looked at them and said=
'With man this is IMPOSSIBLE=
But with GOD-ALL THINGS
Are POSSIBLE'” Matthew 19:26


So I ask you=I ASK MYSELF again=
What is GETTING IN OUR WAY?


Leave it all behind=and
STAY CLOSE to God


With God=all things
ARE POSSIBLE


“If you can?,' said Jesus
'Everything is POSSIBLE
For the ONE=who believes'” Mark 9:23


“Jesus looked at them
And said='with MAN this
IS IMPOSSIBLE=but with God


All things ARE POSSIBLE'” Mark 10:27

OUR PLACE OF PRAYER


I can pray ANYWHERE=
Ant time=but we all have
A SPECIAL PLACE=
Where we like to PRAY


I usually pray every MORNING=
Right after I send out
My poem=while watching
Religious programming=sometimes
With the sound off

Where we thought
There would be

Thomas Merton
Was a TRAPPIST MONK=
Yet he found a NEED
To leave the main monastery


To go off
To an ABANDONED GARDEN
To be ALONE with God


We all have
Our very own FAVORITE
Place of prayer


WHERE is your favorite place?
Where is your sanctuary?
Where is your hidden room?


Like I said=
I can pray anywhere=
But my FAVORITE PLACE


Is sitting on my couch=
LOOKING OUT the window
At the man made lake


“Hear my PRAYER Lord=
Listen to my cry
For mercy” Psalm 86:6


“The Lord detests
The sacrifice
Of the wicked


But the PRAYER
Of the upright
Pleases him” Proverbs 15:8


The TRUTH is
No matter where we pray=
WHERE we do it


God LOVES US
When we do it


He loves us ESPECIALLY
When we are ALONE
WITH HIM=
In thought and open conversation


For Paul
And his companions=
The place
Was ALONG THE RIVER


Perhaps yours is=the BIG
EASY CHAIR=by the window


Or in a chair
In the garden=
The important thing
Is that WE FIND
ALONE TIME with the FATHER
And with Jesus


“'It is written,'
He said to them
'My house
Will be called
A HOUSE OF PRAYER'


But you are making it
'A den of robbers'” Matthew 21:13


Finding a FAVORITE PLACE
OF PRAYER=
May be a challenge
But it is always
WORTH the effort


PRAYING to God the Father
And to Jesus
Is my FAVORITE PART
Of the day


I HOPE it is

It is good to THINK
About the POSITIVE INFLUENCES
Of God in our lives


Remembering God=gives us HOPE
In the dark-uncertain times
Like this Corona virus


“REMEMBER the wonders
He has done=
His miracles=
And the judgments
He pronounced” 1 Chronicles 16:12


“REMEMBER the Creator
In the days
Of your youth


Before the days of trouble come
And the years approach
When you will say--------
'I find no pleasure in them'” Ecclesiastes 12:1


“For I will
Forgive their wickedness
And will REMEMBER

Dear God
We THANK YOU
For those special times
When we felt
YOUR PRESENCE in our lives

FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH LOVE

FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH LOVE


Jesus was FILLED to the
BRIM with LOVE=and he EMPTIED
Himself of every LAST DROP of it=
For us


“Rather=he emptied himself-
TAKING the form of a slave
…..........” Philippians 2:7


“Empty” is how we feel
WHEN we are hurt or when
CIRCUMSTANCES take away
Someone or something-
IMPORTANT to us


Jesus CAME to earth EMPTY=
Born in a stable=NOT even a roof
Over his head


He was VOID of all
The divine trappings
That are/were RIGHTLY his
As the SON OF GOD


And empty was how he left
This world=when all of
His FRIENDS and disciples
Ran away


Yet he was FILLED
To the BRIM with LOVE


For each and EVERY ONE of us=
For the whole world=and he LOVED us
UNTIL his dying breath


He was FILED WITH LOVE


“PRAISE be
To his glorious name FOREVER


May the whole earth
Be FILLED with his glory
Amen & Amen” Psalm 72:19


“The earth is FILLED
With your love=LORD
Teach me your decrees” Psalm 119:64”


“BLESSED are those who hunger
And thirst for RIGHTEOUSNESS


For they will be FILLED” Matthew 5:6


Jesus EMPTIED himself of
ALL his love for us
And that is HOW Jesus asks us to be
In relationship to others


To EMPTY ourselves of selfishness=
Of self-importance=and of
OUR NEED to be right


And empty ourselves of the
NEED to take care of
ONLY OURSELVES


We are to BETTER SERVE OTHERS
With everything that we have=for when
We are EMPTY=we are
FILLED WITH LOVE


And we can better SERVE OTHERS=
That is WWJD-what Jesus WOULD DO


“IF we
Are thrown into
The blazing furnace


The God WE SERVE
Is able to DELIVER US
From Your MAJESTY'S hand” Daniel 3:17


“SERVE WHOLEheartedly=as if
You were SERVING the Lord
Not people


Because you KNOW
The Lord will REWARD each one=
For whatever GOOD they do=
Whether they are slave or free” Ephesians 6:7


Lord=WE PRAY=
EMPTY US of everything
But your LOVE and GRACE


Let us BE FILLED to the BRIM by God

RECEIVING DIVINE BLESSINGS


Have you ever heard of
The “PROSPERITY GOSPEL?”
It is a BELIEF
That the FAITHFUL
Will be blessed
With MATERIAL riches
And worldly success


I don't think that
I believe in that=
However=I do believe
We can RECEIVE
DIVINE BLESSINGS from God


Today's gospel is in DIRECT
OPPOSITION of the prosperity gospel=
It states that
We might RECEIVE
The same hardships
And REJECTION
That Jesus did


“If they PERSECUTED me=
They will PERSECUTE YOU” John 15:20


And most of the APOSTLES
Were martyred too=
They died for their FAITH
The way that JESUS did


In a way
The PROSPERITY GOSPEL
Can be considered TRUE


While we may
NOT RECEIVE worldly blessings=
We do receive
DIVINE BLESSINGS
In this life


We are BROUGHT into
A DIVINE RELATIONSHIP
With Jesus and the FATHER


And he gives us
The strength
TO ENDURE
Whatever we have to


RECEIVING DIVINE BLESSINGS!


“I will make them
And the places
Surrounding my hill
A BLESSING


I will send down
Showers in season
There will be
SHOWERS OF BLESSING” Ezekiel 34:26


“BLESSINGS crown the head
Of the righteous=
But violence overwhelms
The mouth
Of the wicked” Proverbs 10:6


Jesus promised us
That we would be
REJECTED and suffer
As he did
In this world


But he also
Promised us DIVINE BLESSINGS
This is really
TRUE PROSPERITY


RECEIVING divine blessings
From the LORD


“His DIVINE POWER
Has given us
Everything we need
For a godly life


Through our knowledge
Of him
Who called us
By his own glory
And goodness” 2 Peter 1:3


These BLESSINGS=
These riches
Are the ones
That LAST FOREVER
And ever=even
Into the NEXT LIFE

AN ONGOING PROCESS


Being a CHRISTIAN=
Cultivating a spiritual life=
PRAYING for others=

It takes constant attention=
It is like gardening=
One must prune
Lifeless branches and spent blossoms

Jesus wants us to go

To BE

Which YIELDS FRUIT

And whose leaf
Does not wither--------
Whatever they do prospers” Psalm 1:3


“The FRUIT
Of the righteous
Is a tree of life


And the one
Who is wise
Saves lives” Proverbs 11:30


Let us all
Go to WORK on
OUR INNER SOULS


So out of our mouths=
Out of outer soul
Comes life


Comes life=kindness=
And all of the FRUITS
OF THE SPIRIT


Being a CHRISTIAN
Is an ONGOING PROCESS
That takes
TONS and tons of work


“By their FRUIT
You will recognize them” Matthew 7:16


“But the FRUIT
Of the SPIRIT=
Is love-joy-peace-
Forbearance-kindness-goodness-
Faithfulness-gentleness-
And self-control” Galatians 5:22-23


Let us keep working DAILY
To be NEAR GOD=and try
To be a good Christian


Let us PRODUCE FRUIT
That will last
Forever and ever=
IN GOD'S KINGDOM
It is an ONGOING PROCESS

Of this CORONA VIRUS

“IF WE ENDURE
We will also
Reign with him


If we disown him
He will also disown us” 2 Timothy 12


“ENDURE hardship as discipline=
God is treating you
As his children” Hebrews 12:7


Yes Jesus=is SPEAKING to
Us today=
His MODERN day disciples


He is telling us
To REMAIN IN HIM=
To endure in him
To PERSIST in him


In this age=of Corona virus
What else can we do
But remain in him
ENDURE IN JESUS


“Let no debt REMAIN OUTSTANDING=
except the continuing debt
To love one another
For whoever loves others
Has FULFILLED the law” Romans 13:8


“And now these three REMAIN=
Faith=hope=and love=
But the greatest of these
IS LOVE” 1 Corinthians 3:13


Think about Jesus' INVITATION
Today=to REMAIN in his love


It keeps EXPANDING in both
Meaning and quality=
Let his love
CIRCLE AROUND
Your mind and your heart


Yes=Jesus is SPEAKING TO US today=
And he is telling us=
To love God=and to love ALL OTHERS


In Jesus' name=and in the name of our FOREVER ENDURING FATHER!

The Father is the GARDENER

Is it jealousy?
Is it impatience?
Is it self-righteousness?
WHAT is it in me
That needs pruning?


Dear Lord=please prune us

Yes it is the FATHER
Who makes Jesus
GROW in us


By staying CLOSE
To Jesus
We can BEAR FRUIT


He is the VINE=
And we are the branches


It is UP TO US
To REMAIN in God the Father
So that he
Can prune us


So that the VINE
Can have
His way with us
ALONE=we can do nothing!
HE IS THE VINE!


Let the Father=
Make you grow=and HELP God
By praying daily=
By READING your bible daily


“But GROW in the grace
And knowledge-
Of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ


To him be glory
Both now and forever!=Amen” 2 Peter 3:18


Stay close to the VINE=
The Lord Jesus=and his FATHER
Will GROW FRUIT
Through you

UNDERGOING HARDSHIPS!

UNDERGOING HARDSHIPS!


We all experience HARDSHIPS
In this world=
Even JESUS DID!


And when we try
To FOLLOW God's will=
Sometimes we experience
Even MORE HARDSHIPS


“It is necessary
For us to UNDERGO
MANY HARDSHIPS=
To enter the
Kingdom of God” Acts 14:27


In the 14^th chapter
Of ACTS=
Paul is BUILT UP-
Only to be torn down


Isn't that the way
That it is=
In this TOUGH-hard world
That we live in


At first Paul
Is treated Like a god=
Then the crowds


TURN against him=
And even
Throw STONES at him


Even the BEST OF US
EXPERIENCE HARDSHIPS
In this world=
And we
Are NO DIFFERENT


I know I have had
MORE than my share


“Who shall separate us
From the love of Christ?


Shall trouble or HARDSHIP
Or persecution or famine
Or nakedness or danger
Or sword?” Romans 8:35


“But you-keep your head
In all situations=
ENDURE HARDSHIPS


Do the work
Of an evangelist==
Discharge all the duties
Of your ministry” 2 Timothy 4:5


Jesus tells us TODAY
That he BRINGS PEACE=
But NOT the world's peace


Yes we do
FIND HARDSHIP
When we TRY
To do God's WILL


But we will
Experience hardship
NO MATTER WHAT


But Jesus gives us
THE BEST MESSAGE=
Encouragement


“Do NOT let
Your hearts be troubled
Or afraid” John 14:27


Paul is DOING
Just as Jesus said


ENCOURAGING his followers
To PERSEVERE IN FAITH=
Confident in the SALVATION
Jesus has already won


Dear Lord=we PRAY TODAY
That we will not be
DISCOURAGED BY HARDSHIP


And that we will
Persevere in TRUST AND FAITH
In the LORD


In Jesus' name=and in the name=of OUR EVER PRESENT FATHER!

I like doing
FOR OTHERS=
But I don't have
A lot of material GIFTS


But ONE THING
We can always do
For others=is to PRAY FOR THEM!


PRAYING FOR OTHER!

PRAYING for others
Is very POWERFUL=
When we pray for others
We are CALLING ON GOD


To BLESS another human being
In a very special way
GOD BLESS YOU=and
KEEP YOU WELL


A prayer after a sneeze
Can be a call
FOR GOOD HEALTH


A prayer in the MORNING
Can be=can mean=
To BLESS that person
ALL DAY LONG


“GOD BLESS” can mean to
Keep the other person well


And GOD BE WITH YOU
Can mean a prayer
FOR GOODBYE


Yes=PRAYING for others
Is something
We can ALL DO
FOR ANOTHER HUMAN BEING


“What other nation
Is so great
As to have


Their gods near them-
The way the LORD our God
Is near to us
Whenever we PRAY TO HIM?” Deuteronomy 4:7


“If my people
Who are called
By name


Will humble themselves
AND PRAY
And seek my face
And turn
From their wicked ways........” 2 Chronicles 7:14


“Rejoice always=PRAY CONTINUALLY
Give thanks
In all circumstances
For this is God's will
In Christ Jesus” 2 Thessalonians 5:16-17


Yes=PRAYING FOR OTHERS
Is a beautiful thing=
It is a BLESSING


To ask the HOLY ONE
To bless another=
It is POWERFUL INDEED


We are GOD'S CREATION=
We are God's handiwork=
PRAYING FOR OTHERS!-
Is a special blessing


“BLESSED are those
Who act justly
Who always do
What is right” Psalm 106:3


“BLESSINGS crown
The head
Of the righteous=
But violence overwhelms
The mouth of the wicked” Proverbs 10:6


We HONOR our God
When we PRAY FOR OTHERS=
When we pass those BEAUTIFUL THOUGHTS
On to someone else

STANDING WITH THEM

STANDING WITH THEM


There are
A lot of people
In this world
With troubled hearts


SOMETIMES=I am
One of them


We have health issues=
Financial problems=and
RELATIONSHIP ISSUES


Jesus had a TROUBLED HEART=
Right before he died


The LEAST we can do
Is STAND with them=
Give them support
In their TIME OF NEED


“Do not let your HEARTS
BE TROUBLED=
You have faith in God=
Have FAITH also in me” John 14:1


LIFE is a
GIFT FROM GOD=
And I have had
MANY extra years
Since my 22^nd
BIRTHDAY MIRACLE


But life presents with it
MANY CHALLENGES and problems


All we can do
Is STAND with CHRIST=
Stand with God
In their TIME OF NEED


“Moses answered the people=
'Do NOT be afraid-
STAND FIRM and you will see


The deliverance the Lord
Will bring you today
….....
The Lord will
FIGHT FOR YOU=
You need only
To be still'” Exodus 14:13


“He lifted me
Out of the slimy pit=
Out of the mud
And mire


He set me
ON A ROCK
And gave me
A firm place
TO STAND” Psalm 40:2


We all KNOW
A lot of people
Who have been
VISITED by sadness and trials
During life


As a SHOW OF FAITH
We need to
STAND BY THEM
During their CRISIS


We need to
Give them
A SHOW OF SUPPORT


We need to STAND BY THEM
In their time of CRISIS


“Share with
The Lord's people
Who are IN NEED=
Practice hospitality” Romans 12:13


“If anyone
Has material possessions
And sees a
Brother or sister
IN NEED


But has no pity on them=
How can the love of God
BE in that person?” 1 John 3:17


The LORD has given us
The GIFT OF PRAYER
To pray for others


And the gift of FRIENDSHIP
To STAND with our brothers
In their TIMES OF NEED


Let us be there FOR THEM


In Jesus' name=and in the name of our ALWAYS SUPPORTIVE FATHER

GOD IS ALWAYS WITH US

GOD IS ALWAYS WITH US
(even in despair and suffering)


OUR GOD is always
With us
Even in times of suffering
And times of despair


We all go through those times
In life
When we can't feel God
Much less see him


But I ASSURE YOU
That is when
He is especially near


“They mourned and wept and fasted
….....because they had fallen
By the sword” 2 Samuel 1-12


At certain times
In our life
Despair and suffering-seemingly-
Can crush us


The LOSS of a loved one
The breakup of a relationship
Illness or disability
Etc., etc., etc.,


I should know
I have been through it all
Just like you-
The times when we weren't sure
God even existed-
Much less walking beside us
As he always is


GOD IS always with us
God is-always near-always close


“The Lord is close
To the brokenhearted


And SAVES those
Who are crushed in spirit” Psalm 34:18


“ONE who has unreliable friends
Soon comes to ruin


But there is a friend
Who sticks CLOSER
Than a brother” Proverbs 18:24


And I should know
He never let me down


I SHOULD KNOW-
In 1978-I had just had
My third life and death operation
Within a year-and survived


Yet the medical profession
Had no answers-
And I had just lost my job
And a relationship-because of medical reasons


There was NO ONE in this world
Who could help me-EXCEPT for God


GOD directed me-guided me=he showed me
HOW to make a life through him-and-
DOING IT his way


And through family-and friends-and through churches


“GUIDE me
In your truth
And teach me


For you are
God my Savior


And my HOPE is in you
ALL DAY LONG” Psalm 25:5


“But when he
The SPIRIT OF TRUTH comes


He will guide you
Into the truth” John 16:13


He will NEVER abandon you-
Just like-he never abandoned his SON-
MY Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ


Just like
He never abandoned-
The GREAT SAINT Paul


“But he said to me,
'My GRACE is sufficient
For you


For my power
Is made PERFECT in weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9


Just like
He never abandoned me


The good news is:
GOD IS ALWAYS WITH US


Even in periods of hardship
And intense suffering


God suffers
And mourns with us


We are never separated
From God-
In life-or in death
(Romans 8:38-39)

IS ALWAYS WITH US

RECOGNIZING THE SPIRIT IN OTHERS


We all make ASSUMPTIONS
About other people
That are NOT TRUE


That is NO DIFFERENT today
Than it was
Two thousand years ago


The people and LEADERS
Of Jerusalem
FAILED TO RECOGNIZE
That Jesus could possibly
BE the Messiah


“The inhabitants of Jerusalem
And their LEADERS=
FAILED to RECOGNIZE HIM........” Acts 13:27


It is easy to CRITICIZE them=
But how often do we
Fail to recognize it ourselves


How often do we FAIL
To recognize the
SPIRIT OF GOD
IN OTHERS


Thinking this person=or
That person
Couldn't possibly know
ABOUT GOD


How WRONG we can be
About another human being
How wrong we can be
ABOUT OURSELVES


RECOGNIZING the SPIRIT
Of God in others
And myself


“By their fruit
You will RECOGNIZE THEM” Matthew 7:16


“Make a tree good
And its fruit
Will be good


Or make a tree bad
And its fruit
Will be bad


For a tree
Is RECOGNIZED
By its fruit” Matthew 12:33


I think that was
The PROBLEM 2,000 years ago


Jesus SURROUNDED himself
With “sinners”=
But people=the APOSTLES
Had GOOD HEARTS
They knew about GOD


But people didn't think
Jesus and his followers
COULD KNOW about God


How wrong they were=
RECOGNIZING the SPIRIT of God
In others


Dear Lord=HELP US
To recognize the
SPIRIT of God
WORKING in others
And working in ourselves


We don't need to
Ba a MINISTER
To FEEL the love of God=
To know
THE LOVE OF GOD


“Create in me
A pure heart=O God
And renew a STEADFAST SPIRIT
Within me” Psalm 51:10


“Rather it should be
That of your inner self


The unfading beauty
Of a gentle
And quiet SPIRIT


Which is of great worth
In God's sight” 1 Peter 3:4


Dear Lord=please give us the GIFT
Of not
Making assumptions about others


And the gift of
RECOGNIZING and SEEING GOD
In all others

OUR EVER PRESENT ROCK!


I like to have
A SMILE on my face=
And when I think
Of my God
It comes NATURALLY

This world
Has a multitude
Of problems


Health-money=and
RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS


But no matter WHERE I go-
What I do=
MY GOD is always there


My steadfast=my ETERNAL ROCK!
For all of time


“The Lord is
MY ROCK-
And my fortress


My God
My strength
In whom I will trust” Psalm 18:2


“He set my feet
On a ROCK
And gave me-
A firm place
To stand” Psalm 40:2


“And I tell you
That you are Peter


And ON THIS ROCK-
I will build my church
And the gates of Hades
Will not overcome it” Matthew 16:18


With this Corona virus
So strong=the gates
Of hell are ATTACKING


But I will REST in my God
I will rest in
My Jesus=my ever PRESENT GOD


Dear Lord=we PRAY
That whatever
Is going on
In our lives


That you KEEP US MINDFUL
Of your presence today
And every day


And that we RELY
ONLY on you=
OUR EVER PRESENT GOD


“Blessed are those
Who have learned
To acclaim you


Who walk
In the light
Of your PRESENCE LORD” Psalm 89:15


“Do your best
To PRESENT yourself to God
As one approved


A worker who does not
Need to be ashamed
And who correctly handles
The word of truth” 2 Timothy 12:15


WHEN you put your
TRUST in God=
You are trusting
In the unshakable Lord


I am putting all of my trust
IN OUR EVER PRESENT GOD=
