GETTING OLDER IS A BLESSING

GETTING OLDER IS A BLESSING


So many of us
Don't have the BLESSING
Of getting older=and LIVING
To a ripe old age


I was almost one of them=
As I almost died
Numerous times-
WHEN I was younger


Today we read
A SUPPORT PSALM for the aging=
PSALM 71


“CAST me not off
In my old AGE
As my strength fails
Forsake me not” Psalm 71:9


We are asking God
NOT to cast us aside=
As we GET OLDER=
We are asking God to
SUPPORT US=
To stand with us


The world may
Cast us ASIDE=
But GOD NEVER casts us aside
In our aging years
As though we are WORTHLESS


GETTING OLDER IS
A BLESSING=
We are worthy
Of DIGNITY AND RESPECT
In the eyes of the Lord


“Is not wisdom
Found among the AGED?
Does not long life
Bring understanding?” Job 12:12


“Children's children
Are a crown
TO THE AGED


And parents are the pride
Of their children” Proverbs 17:6


The truth is
That God NEVER FORSAKES US=
He BLESSES us
Whenever he can


GETTING OLDER
Is a BLESSING=
And he likes to
BLESS his children
With a long life


“Our days may come
To seventy years-
OR EIGHTY
If our strength ENDURES” Psalm 90:10


So many of us
Are trying to STAY YOUNG=
But it is a BLESSING
To get older=
It is an EXPERIENCE
To get older


To SURVIVE so many CHALLENGES
In our youth


Getting older REQUIRES us
To have GREAT PATIENCE=
Moving more slowly
Can be a BLESSING


Taking the TIME
To think things out
Can be a blessing


“BLESSINGS crown the head
Of the righteous=
But violence overwhelms
The mouth of the wicked” Proverbs 10:6


IT is a BLESSING
TO GET OLDER


Dear Lord=awaken our aging bodies
That we may RECEIVE
A glimpse of the wisdom
That comes WITH AGING


Teach us to LOVE OURSELVES
As you love us
And to CHERISH OURSELVES
As we get older
