AN AFFIRMATION=OF GOD’S LOVE
For us
Today we read=ONCE AGAIN
The story of=THE PRODIGAL SON
In Luke chapter 15
It is ONE of the
MOST FAMOUS STORIES
In all of the=NEW TESTAMENT
And it is=A POWERFUL STORY
Of sin and forgiveness
“While he was
STILL=a long way off
HIS FATHER=caught sight of him……..”
Luke 15:20
I think ALL of us
Can RELATE
To the younger son
Who has made=
A MESS of his life=
And is RETURNING HOME
HUMILIATED=and beaten up
By our world
Our God is a PATIENT GOD
Our God is a
FORGIVING GOD
The SURPRISE of the story
Is that the Father
EMBRACES HIM=and welcomes him home
Even before=the SON
Can say how sorry=that he is
Our ever forgiving God=
AN AFFIRMATION=of the Holy Father’s
Ever longing LOVE for him
AND US
Our God is WAITING for us
Watching for us=for when
We RETURN TO HIM
“IF YOU RETURN
To the Lord
Then your fellow Israelites
And your children
Will be shown compassion
By their captors=and will RETURN
To this land
For your God=Is gracious and compassionate”
2 Chronicles 30:9
“But it is your RETURN
To me=and obey my commands……..” Nehemiah
1:9
“Come let us
RETURN to the Lord=
He has torn us=to pieces
But he=will heal us”
Hosea 6:1
We humans=DON’T KNOW FORGIVENESS
Like our God does=
Our Holy Father God
RUSHES to forgive
What AN=
AFFIRMATION OF GOD’S LOVE
For us=FOR ALL OF US
He is=a merciful Father
Thank you Lord
That YOUR WAYS
Are not our ways
May we BESTOW
The MERCY we receive
From you dear God=TO OTHERS
ON OUR JOURNEY=through this life

IS=AN AFFIRMATION=OF GOD’S LOVE
For all of us
In the MERCY of Jesus=and our ever FORGIVING=Holy MERCIFUL
God and Father!
