MONEY CAN’T BUY ME LOVE
(or health or happiness)
There is a popular saying that goes:
“Take the money and run”
But the truth is
Money cannot buy
The most important things in life
Money can’t buy health
Money can’t buy happiness
AND MOST OF ALL
It cannot buy love
The love of God
The love of family and friends
And just plain love
The love of one human being
For another
As my dad used to say
“Your health is your wealth”
And I believe
Like the song goes
“What the world needs now
IS LOVE-SWEET LOVE”
“Dear friends-let us love one
another
For love Comes from God
Everyone who loves
Has been born of God
Whoever does not love
Does not know God
Because GOD IS LOVE”
1 John 4:7-8
In today’s world
Sadly-the way
We measure a person’s worth
Is by money
AND IT IS WRONG
Each and every person
Is WORTHY of dignity and love
In God’s eyes
In Matthew 19
A rich man young man
Comes to Jesus
And says
I have kept ALL the commandments
“What do I still lack?”
Jesus responds,
“If you want to be perfect
Go-sell your possessions
And give it to the poor
And you will have
Treasure in heaven
Then come follow me”
Matthew 19:20-21
When the young man heard this
He walked away sad
Because he had GREAT wealth
But which one of us
Rightly or wrongly
Doesn’t understand
The young man’s reaction
Jesus goes on to say,
“I tell you the truth
It is hard for a rich man
To enter the kingdom of heaven
Again I tell you the truth
It is easier for a camel
To go through the eye of a needle
Than for a rich man
To enter the kingdom
of God
A TOUGH teaching to be sure
PERPLEXED the disciples ask,
“Who the can be SAVED?”
Jesus answered,
“With man this is impossible
But with God
ALL things are possible”
Matthew 19:25-26
MONEY CAN’T BUY ME LOVE
But the GOOD news is
It doesn’t
Have to end this way
Jesus’ sacrifice
Jesus’ love
Has ALREADY bought us
Our salvation
LOVE GOD
LOVE ONE ANOTHER
“And they’ll KNOW
You are my disciples
BY YOUR LOVE”
