WHO OR WHAT is number 1 in your life?

The FIRST COMMANDMENT says:  "I AM the LORD........you shall NOT place other gods above me"

I think-in this the modern day 21st century this is the toughest commandment to follow-and getting tougher every day

WE are all tempted every day to put our career-our hobby-our favorite sport-or an admired person first
in our life;or even the computer-face book or television

Dear LORD we pray that WE-and this world return you and FAMILY to their rightful place-NUMBER ONE in our hearts-minds-and souls

IT is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE! in God's LOVE for us-and HOPEFULLY our love for GOD and others

LOVE YOU ALL!

FALSE IDOLS








Do you know what idolatry is


Basically it is
Putting something before God
And it has been going on
Since the beginning of time


Satan said to Eve,


“Did God really say
“You must not eat from any tree
In the garden”


Eve responds,
“We may eat from trees
in the garden
But God did say
“You must not eat fruit
From the fruit
That is in the middle of the garden
And you must not touch it
Or you will die”


Eve and Adam
Chose evil, chose Satan, chose fruit
Over the Word of God


Strike 1


Fast forward about 1400 years
And we find the Lord
Saying to Moses,


“Tell the Israelites this:
You have seen for yourselves
That I have spoken to you from heaven


Do not make any gods
To be along side me
Do not make for yourselves
Gods of silver or gods of gold” Exodus 20:22-23


As the Lord is finishing speaking
To Moses on Mount Sinai
Aaron and the Israelite people
Are finishing building a golden calf
To put on an altar to worship


Then they said,
“These are your gods O Israel
Who brought you up out of Egypt” Exodus 32:4


Moses goes back down the mountain
Only to find the people
Worshipping the golden calf


Moses becomes so angry
That he destroys the two tablets of testimony


“The tablets were the work of God
The writing was the writing of God
Engraved on the tablets” Exodus 32:16


Fast forward about 600 years
And we find God himself
In the form of Jesus Christ
Walking the earth


He teaches us
The two greatest commandments
He teaches us
About forgiveness
He teaches us the Beatitudes
And gives us The Sermon on the Mount


Only to be betrayed
By a friend---with a kiss
For 30 pieces of silver


But he leaves with us the SPIRIT
The third person of the TRINITY
Known as our counselor
And active in the lives of his believers


But how many “TRUE” believers are left?


We are worshipping
The gods of materialism
The gods of sexual promiscuity
The gods of pornography
The gods of drug and alcohol addiction
And Lord only knows what else


EVERY DEPRAVITY
Known to man


I beseech you-me-ALL of us
To return to God
And IF you haven’t already done so
Put GOD AND FAMILY FIRST


“God is spirit
And his worshippers
Must worship in spirit and truth”


Have fun with your life
But keep God where he should be


NUMBER 1 IN YOUR LIFE
