JEALOUSY---TURN BACK TO LOVE
Have you ever
Had a friend
Who was so good looking
That they made you
A little bit jealous
Perfect body
Perfect teeth
A winning personality
That everyone seems to love
Maybe they even
Seemed to have
The perfect family
The perfect spouse and kids
Everything about them
Just seems to be perfect---maybe too perfect
I suggest to you
That we are to be happy for them
For God judges
Each and every one of us
For what is
On the inside of us
Not by external appearances
For NONE are perfect
Except Jesus Christ our Lord
“God does not judge by external appearances” Galatians 2:6
I think about the religious
leaders
Of Christ’s day
And I wonder
If that
Is not what was going on
Here we have an itinerant preacher
Roaming from town to town
No theological training
Of any kind
The people are rallying around
him
The people are hanging
On his every word
Watching every miracle
Not believing
What they are seeing
Can’t wait
To see what he is going to do next
“The night is nearly over
The day is almost here
So let us
Put aside the deeds of darkness
And put on the armor of light”
Romans 13:12
How would you feel
If you lived 2000 years ago
And were a Rabbi
A great religious scholar of your day
A little hostile---maybe
A little bit vengeful---maybe
Perhaps so filled with hatred
That you might want
To see him dead
Turn away from jealousy
Turn away from hatred
Turn back to LOVE
“Do not worship any other God
For the Lord
Whose name is Jealous
Is a jealous God”
